NORFOLK, Va. (December 15, 2020) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women’s basketball weekly honors where Howard University freshman guard Kaiya Creek (Seat Pleasant, Md.) won a pair of awards: Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week. The announcement came Tuesday morning.

In the two comeback victories, Creek averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. On the road at La Salle (Dec. 11), the Maryland native notched her first career double-double (14 points and 10 boards) in the 23-point comeback win. Two days later (Dec. 13), she provided a spark off the bench with a career-high 23 points, including five long balls, in the 14-point come-from-behind victory against the Colonials.

On the young season, Creek leads the squad in scoring (15.7 ppg) while shooting 40-percent (6-of-15) from downtown.

Fellow classmate Anzhane’ Hutton (Cedar Hill, Texas) received honorable mention after registering her first career double-double against the Explorers with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

North Carolina A&T State senior Jayla Jones-Pack was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.
