STORM WIN AGAINST THE BARNSTORMERS

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm moved to 6-1 after handing the Iowa Barnstormers their first loss of the 2019 season. The Sioux Falls Storm won 36-32 on Saturday, April 20th.
The first quarter started with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown to give the Storm a 6-0 lead. Iowa would answer back with a three-yard touchdown pass by Dequan Neal to Raheem Harvey to take a 6-7 lead to end the quarter.
The second quarter began with a 6-14 lead for the Barnstormers after a 14-yard rushing touchdown by Dequan Neal. The Storm cut the lead to 12-14 after a five-yard rushing touchdown by Calen Campbell. The Barnstormers would extend their lead to 12-20 after a 50-yard kickoff return by Tyrell Pearson. The Storm would end the half with a 22-20 lead after scoring on back to back drives; the first was a five-yard rushing touchdown by Brandon Sheperd and then a 35-yard field goal by Parker Douglass.
The third quarter would have only one score which came from the Barnstormers which gave them a 22-26 lead after a nine-yard touchdown pass by Dequan Neal to Ryan Balentine.
The Storm would retake a 29-26 lead to start the fourth quarter after a 27-yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Brown to Brandon Sheperd. The Barnstormers answered back with an eight-yard rushing touchdown by Jamal Tyler to give them a 26-32 lead. The Storm would end the game with a 10-yard touchdown pass-deflection when Lorenzo Brown found Brandon Sheperd who had dropped the intended pass and Kent Shelby grabbed it before it hit the ground to bring the final score to 36-32.
Quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed nine passes for 81 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also had 61 rushing yards and one touchdown. Running back Calen Campbell had 23 rushing yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Brandon Sheperd 32 receiving yards and one touchdown along with one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Kent Shelby had 18 receiving yards and one touchdown. Kicker Parker Douglass made one field goal and three extra points. Defensive backs Tre Dickerson and Rick Rumph lead the Thunder Defense with seven tackles. Defensive back Rick Rumph had two fumble recoveries and two pass break-ups. Defensive back Trey Wafford had two tackles for loss and one forced fumble. Defensive linemen Claude Davis tallied six tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and one pass break-up while Charles Williams had one block.
The Sioux Falls Storm will host their Third Annual Night of Hope Caring on Saturday, April 27th against the Arizona Rattlers. Kickoff is set for 7:05 PM at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Get Tickets
