The Truth About Cancer Featuring: Cancer Survivor Story - Randy Ford - Prostate Cancer

This week’s cancer survivor story comes from Randy Ford who was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Randy went to the doctor for a routine physical when his doctor decided to check his PSA levels. Five days later, he received a call from the nurse stating that his PSA levels were extremely elevated at 20. A normal PSA level is generally around 3 or 4. Obviously shocked, he met with a doctor that did a biopsy and out of the 12 samples, 2 were showing signs of cancer. Afterwards, his doctors wanted him to go through radiation for 9 weeks, 5 days a week. As he was going to set up his schedule for treatments, a friend introduced him to The Truth About Cancer. After watching it, he went back to his radiologist and asked him if he would do what he was asking Randy to do, to which he shook his head and replied, “I don’t know.” His reaction surprised Randy and let him know that he should try a more natural way of healing. Dumbbell Reverse Lunge View Video
Exercise Description:

Grasp a dumbbell with each hand (both dumbbells should weigh the same). Stand up straight, place your feet slightly closer than shoulder width apart, and keep your feet flat on the floor. Keep your back tight and chest out throughout this exercise. Make sure that the floor behind you is cleared of all objects and people (for at least 5 feet). Keep your head and neck in line with your torso so that you are looking forward. Hang your arms directly at your sides. Rotate your palms so that they are facing inward toward each other. Keeping one foot flat on the floor, lift the other foot and step back approximately two to three feet. Breath in during this phase of the exercise. As you step back keep your weight on your front foot. Your knee should extend forward so it is directly over your toe. Lean forward slightly at the waist so that your chest is over the middle of your thigh. Lower yourself until your back knee barely touches the floor. Now, pressing with your front leg, lift your back foot up and stand up. Breath out during this phase of the exercise. Once you have completed a set, repeat with the other leg.

US Sports Online Strength and Conditioning System- Strength and Power Workouts


The Strength and Power Programs were designed to maximize the body's ability to generate strength. There will also be a certain amount of muscle mass developed through the stimulus of using progressively heavier weights!

Throughout the length of the Strength and Power programs, the manipulation of the sets and repetitions for each exercise will be based on periodization concepts that involve changing the intensity and the volume of the workout.

The Strength and Power EXPRESS Programs are for those people short on time that still want a very effective workout. An EXPRESS Program will give you most of the benefits of the regular programs, but will take less time each day to complete. It will not change the primary emphasis of the program, it simply reduces the number of assistance exercises for the calves, forearms and neck muscle groups.

The Strength and Power ADVANCED Programs will really push you physically. Make sure to pay high attention to recovery processes such as eating quality foods and keeping the body properly hydrated. Sleeping at least 8 hours per night is also key. And, stretching or massage both before and after the workout is also vital. This will help to stimulate passive blood flow to the muscles aiding the removal of metabolic waste products. Crank it up!

Rack Deadlifts View Video
Exercise Description:

This exercise needs to be performed inside a power rack or on top of blocks that allow for the bar to be placed at a height of the top of the knee cap. Your knees should be slightly bent. Keeping your back flat and your chest up, bend forward at the waist and grasp the bar with either an overhand grip (palms facing body) or an alternate grip (one palm facing body, the other palm facing away from body). Exhale and lift the bar off the rack (or blocks) until you are standing in an upright position. Don't let your back round forward. Keep your chest up and your shoulders back. Maintain good posture throughout the movement.

Motocross racers need a program that will help guard them against injuries and give them enough strength and muscular endurance to help them be as competitive as possible. In addition to the strength training exercises, specific plyometric exercises that will help condition the legs for the riggors of landing from jumps and handling whoops have been added to all Motorcross Programs. The 4-Day Motorcross Program is great for the offseason, or for non-racing weeks. The 2-Day Motorcross Programs are perfect for racing weeks. It is recommended to have 48 hours of rest before the next race!

Lying on a bench support your head with one hand and hold a dumbbell with the other. With a rolled up towel or foam pad placed between your side and your arm just above your elbow. Begin with your forearm across your body, while holding a 90 degree bend in your elbow rotate your upper arm until your forearm is perpendicular to the floor. Lower to the starting position.
