The most common dart board design is that of a clock which is circular
in shape, has a circle inscribed on it with twenty segments with the
numbers one to twenty mentioned on them in a random fashion which
actually has an underlying pattern. The bull’s eye is the small black
circle in the centre.

The two most common games are 501 and
301.In 501 a player starts with 501 points and has to reduce it to zero.
Each player has to throw three darts and whatever he scores is deducted
from the initial 501 points. The bull’s eye fetches 50 points, the
outer rings 25 each etc. The player who first achieves the zero point is
the winner. However the game can end only with a throw that lands in
the double or bulls eye.301 is also played in the same way except that
it starts with 301 points instead of 501.Another popular dart game is
"Around the Clock". Here, each player throws 3 darts and has to throw a
dart in every segment beginning right from 1 to 20 and has to finish
with the 25 and bull’s-eye. Players must start with 1 and cannot move
to the next number till such time a dart has been thrown at the next
target .The first player who hits all the targets and finally reaches
the bull’s-eye wins the game. Another common game is the cricket
where two players toss a coin to see who would bat and who would be
bowling. The batting player starts and tries at all turns scoring as
many points as possible. The standard 501 scoring system is used. When
the batting player scores more than 40 points in one go, the number of
points more than 40 is added to the player's score. Less than 40 the
batting player scores nothing. The opposing player is considered to be
the bowler and this player only aims the bull’s-eye. The bowler gets 2
wickets if he hits the bull’s-eye and 1 wicket for the 25 scorer ring.
Players take turns until the bowling player throws a dart that scores
the 10th wicket. After that the roles are interchanged and the other
player has an innings of batting to do. This game ends when both players
have played two innings each and the player with the higher score wins
the match. Dramatic Final Sets

How to Fight the Winter Blues by Becoming a Skilled Dart Player
If you find yourself dreading the rapid approach of winter this year,
or you are reading this article during the winter, then you must be
someone who suffers from the winter blues, since that is what the title
of this article is about. The winter blues can be everything from just a
general lack of energy or desire, to full blown depression. One of the
major culprits that cause the winter blues is folks often find
themselves stuck inside on them cold winter days with nothing to do. First
of all, a person with nothing to do, is what I would consider a very
lucky person, but that's just me thinking that way. I often wish there
was a lot more hours in the day to get things done, and so don't most
other people, in fact a lot of us don't have time to get the winter
blues. If you do find the winter blues creeping in your life this
season, why not take up an activity to help beat it, one that requires
only yourself to do, and is so fun that you will wonder why you haven't
thought about it before, and that activity is, becoming skilled at
playing darts. Playing darts is so fun, and it makes the time
pass quickly, in fact when playing darts, you won't have time to get the
winter blues. Darts is so easy to learn that anyone can learn to play
and become skilled at it over time. There are dart leagues in most
towns, so when you become very good at it, you may wish to join one of
the leagues where you can turn your fun activity into one that earns you
awards and even cash prizes, and a little local fame. A nice
dart board with darts can be purchased at most larger stores that sell
sporting goods, or any Kmart or Walmart, and they are very inexpensive,
and sell for under $50 at most places, in fact most sell for around $25,
but like anything you can buy a more expensive set if you wish, they
even have electronic dart boards that display a digital score. So, this
winter when it's cold and you have nothing to do, have some fun becoming
skilled at playing darts, and winning the fight against the winter
blues. There is a website that describes numerous activities and
other methods to help eliminate the Winter Blues, this website is
called: Winter Activities - and it may be found at this url: http://www.winter-activities.com
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Robert W. Benjamin has been involved in weight loss and has been
researching the Winter Blues for a few years. He has personally turned
his life around at the age of 50, by reducing his body weight from 400
lbs to 185 lbs.

The 2017 William Hill World Darts Championship is the 24th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation.
Gary Anderson v Peter Wright 2017 World Darts Championship Semi-Finals PDC William Hill HD 720p Full Game.
Draw & results, format, prize money- Walk On | Gary Anderson v Peter Wright
A short version of dart rules, covering the basics without having to trawl through the small print of the big darts organizations. These are the basics you should know to play the game of darts. They are mostly pretty obvious and are common to all the major darts organizations. If you need greater details just go to the respective darts organization for your country, but the BDO (British Darts Organization) is the granddaddy of them all.
No Joke, you can have 12 in long darts if you want, the rules give 12 inches as the maximum size of a dart! Not that I've never seen any that length for sale, and the maximum weight is 50 grams. Usually, soft tip darts are in the range of 14 to 20 grams, and steel tip darts range from 18 to 26 grams, although there are heavier darts on sale.
The dreaded Bounce out rule:
The rule is that all bounce outs do not count towards your score and NO you cannot have another throw. Not only that, but if the dart falls out before the score has been taken it does not count either. I suggest you throw your darts harder if you keep suffering from this rule.
The toe line or throw line is 7 ft 9 1/4 inches from the dartboard: now where did that come from? But you can lean over as far as you like providing your feet are behind that throw line or toe line as it is sometimes called.
The dartboard height is 1.73 metres or 5 foot 8 inches to the centre of the bull
When a dart hits the board, the score is determined by the wire not the color of the segment. The dart has to land inside the segment determined by the wire surrounding the number. If you hit the green of the triple but the dart point is outside the triple wire the score is only a single.
The darts must be thrown point first one at a time at the board and in the '01 games the score is taken away from the previous score until the score is zero. You have to throw a double for your final dart. As a double is required to finish a game, so your score must be less than 40 and an even number to be able to throw a winning dart.
There are other '01 type games that require you to start on a double as well, in fact there is a televised tournament that has a double to start rule as well as a double to finish rule. The World Grand Prix uses that rule.
When throwing for your final double, if you throw more than you need to finish the game, you are ‘Bust', which means your score is void and your score is the same as when you started the throw. Needless to say, you are considered to be 'bust' if you get down to score of 1 as well, because there would be no double to go for .
Also note the score must be decided upon BEFORE the darts are pulled out of the board.
Some of the more interesting rules
During match play, any Players using offensive language or deemed to be "mouthing" any offensive language or seen to be making offensive gestures shall be deemed to have brought the Sport of Darts into disrepute and shall become liable to Disciplinary Proceedings being taken against them by the DRA.
And From the ADO
At the tournament director's discretion, women may be recycled in mixed doubles and triples events only. (Golly, I'm sure the women are delighted!)

The Bristle dart board has been around for 70 years, but it is still regarded as the dart board to play on for serious darters. Indeed all the top money darts tournaments still use the Bristle style board, and I'm sure it will still be around for another 70 years. The Bristle Dart Board is the choice of champions, the big money darts players that we all look up to and try to emulate. In the big darts tournaments the board is always a bristle board usually a Nodor or Winmau, and it has come a long way since its inception in the 1930's.
The "bristles" are actually pieces of rope tied together to make a small bundle. Lots of bundles are then put on a wooden base and compressed together using a steel ring. The face of the board is then sanded down and the dyes added to give the segments their different colours and then the "spider" or steel segment dividers are added. The number ring is put on the outside and hey presto; you have a bristle dart board.
The first one was made by Nodor, which is a bit odd as they were a company that made modelling clay and their boast was that the clay had no odour, hence the name Nodor. As a sideline, they made a plasticine type dart board, which was not a great success, the idea being you could reshape the clay to get rid of the holes and use the board again and again. This was a big step forward as the boards up to then had been simple wooden elm log ends.
Then some bright spark had the idea of making a dart board from rope and went to Nodor with the idea! This unlikely idea turned out to be genius and Nodor patented the first Bristle Dart Board in the early thirties. The patent gave them exclusive rights to make this revolutionary dartboard for 20 years or so and then everyone else jumped on board to make these classic dartboards.
Now Nodor had competition most noticeably from WinMau. Now the race was on to produce better and better versions of the original Bristle dart board; staple free bulls eyes and thinner wire shaped in a diamond shape to reduce the dreaded bounce outs appeared. They also reduced the gauge of the wire used in making the spider, so much so that the present boards have 20% or more extra space for the darts to hit.
Nowadays the boards used in all the big tournaments are virtually staple free and have the shaped thin wire for the spider. Winmau has its Blade III board and Nodor its Supawires board and now there are a whole host of other makes as well which all have increased scoring areas like the DMI Bandit that is totally staple free. All have staple free bulls eyes and ultra thin wire to increase the scoring area of the segments. The Bristle dart board is at the peak of its development, giving rise to increased scores compared to the past due to those ultra thin wires and increased scoring areas.
As for the future of the Bristle dart board, I think it is still bright, as nothing quite matches the look, sound and feel of a classic bristle board not withstanding the incredible developments of the electronic dart board.

Darts is a fun social sport, the history of which can be traced back to the days of the longbow in medieval England. The enduring popularity of the sport can be attributed to its being a game that combines skill, talent, and a bit of luck. The upper classes of the times soon put their own stamp on the game. Henry VIII was well known for his immense love of the game, and was presented with a beautifully ornate set by Anne Boleyn.
The sport began as part of training in the martial art of archery. Historians infer, because it is not known for certain, that teachers of archery shortened some arrows and asked their students to throw them at the bottom of an empty wine barrel. The fact that the bottom of an empty wine barrel was used is a clue to how the game evolved into a pastime. It is believed that the soldiers took their shortened arrows on their visit to the local drinking establishment to exhibit their skill, while having fun there. Gradually, some inventive dart thrower introduced a cross section of a moderate-sized tree. The “board” had rings, and upon drying, further segmentation was provided by the cracks. Thus, from the cracked and dried cross section of a tree evolved the modern-day dart board.
The history of darts in the United States can be traced to the Pilgrims. These tough colonizers are believed to have played the game on board the Mayflower as it made its ocean crossing. Later, the game was played fervently in the United States as a favorite pastime.
It was around 1900 that the rules for darts became what they are today. The size of the board, distance for throwing, and even the size of the darts were standardized. Today, around the world, organized teams play for trophies and professional leagues. The prominent associations worldwide for dart games are World Darts Federation (WDF), British Darts Organization and Darts Federation of Australia.
A set of 18-gram brass darts costs around $10, whereas a set of tungsten darts is $140. Prices vary depending on the material the dart is made of, as well as any extras like movable points or special paint jobs. Prices differ from catalog to catalog as well.
