The Faithfulness of God
Living a truly honorable life is possible only when we build our foundation on the Lord.
God’s faithfulness is the bedrock of the Christian life. Peter wrote his first letter to believers scattered across the Roman Empire, people living as strangers in a culture that often misunderstood and mistreated them. And yet his counsel wasn’t to withdraw or retaliate. It was to live such honorable lives that even their critics would have nothing to say against them (1 Pet. 2:12).
That kind of life is possible only when we’re anchored in something steadier than our circumstances. Peter could call believers to honor governing authorities, love other believers, and fear the Lord because he knew the One they served. God had been faithful to Israel through centuries of exile, occupation, and uncertainty. He had been faithful to send His Son. And He would be faithful still.
