HIV and AIDS can cause death because it is a disease that compromises the immune system and something as small as the common cold can cause fatality. HIV does not discriminate, and anyone can be at risk. The disease does not care about race, gender, or class, and it can infect any of us if we are not cautious. So, what can we do to make sure that these statistics continue to decrease and to spread awareness?
THE KEY TO FINDING PEACE OF MIND
by Creflo Dollar | 18 Apr 2018
If you ever found yourself worrying about something, you probably also noticed that your peace of mind had vanished. We all have our insecure moments, but worry is counterproductive and drains our mental energy. There’s always the potential for an issue to boil to the surface and cause us anxiety, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to deal with problems. We can feel overwhelmed if we wrestle with them on our own; trusting God enough to ask for His input brings us not only the perfect solution, but perfect peace of mind.
We can become agitated and frustrated trying to figure out every angle of a situation through our own understanding, because there’s always some detail we can miss. Fretting about what could happen in the future puts undue stress on us, and drains the joy out of life. No one knows what the future will bring, so worrying about it is useless. “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (James 4:14). Suffering from anxiety isn’t what Christ wants for us.
God’s knowledge and understanding far exceeds ours: He already knows the end of a matter before it even becomes apparent to us. Putting more confidence in His wisdom than in ours gets us much better results. We may think we know what’s best for us, but when we try to direct our own steps we’re likely to go down a wrong path in life. “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). There are many wrong paths in life, so we need God to show us the correct one to take.
He loves us enough to take a deep interest in everything we do and every decision we make. God wants the best for us, and when He sees us struggling and worrying over something, He wants to point us in the right direction. “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives” (Psalm 37:23, NLT). He has the perfect solution, and we’ll see it for ourselves if we’re humble enough to accept it from Him.
Everyone makes mistakes, and we can find ourselves regretting something we’ve done wrong or feeling guilty and ashamed because of it. We can condemn ourselves and beat ourselves up emotionally over it, but that only makes it worse. When we lose our peace of mind because we’re worried and anxious about something, we can prayerfully turn it over to God. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6, 7, NLT).
We avoid the worry and stress that come from making a mistake or a bad decision by seeking wise counsel. Jesus is our wise counselor and our wonderful prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6), and He’s waiting for us to call on Him. When we’ve lost our peace, He’ll return it to us.
