Sports Psychology - Sports Mindset Responsible For Improved Athletic Performance
This is possibly the most important missing "link" in any athlete or fitness warrior's success track is conquering the negative influences that may keep us from performing our best on and off the field of play. As the good book even says: "As a man (as in human) thinks in his heart, so is he(she)" So if you need to change the way your think about your fitness or strength and conditioning program to help zoom it and you to success, then read on!
-Nate Sports Psychology - Sports Mindset Responsible For Improved Athletic Performance by David Andrews When it comes to sports psychology, most "experts" focus on studying the psychology and kinesiology of athletic performance and success rates of those athletes and/or teams. When most sports psychologists work with athletes or teams to improve athletic performance, they often home in on goal setting, relaxation and self-talk and, in some instances, they’ll see significant behavioral change. But, statistics show that this improved athletic performance doesn’t always remain consistent. Eventually, the individual or the team slides back down, oftentimes to the same level of achievement previously achieved before the sports psychologist came in. Why is this? The answer is very simple, actually. In most cases, sports psychology is addressing the effect instead of the real root of the issue, the CAUSE or, put more succinctly, how the athlete is THINKING. Any athlete can set new goals – both individually and in the spirit of a team – to improve his or her athletic performance. But if the athlete doesn’t truly believe – inherently – that the goal can be achieved, the goal will never be reached. Any athlete can work on his or her sports mindset to relax more or undertake self talk motivation before a game, match or performance, but unless that individual understands EXACTLY how the chemistry and energy of his or her thought is transmitted into the athletic performance, that athlete will have a difficult time maintaining the championship "sports mindset." Real championship mindset is obviously a culmination of many things but, in the end, champions have one thing in common: They have crossed the "Knowing-Doing" gap. In other words, most athletes already possess the sports mindset – it’s been drilled into them just like the endless physical drills they perform every day. They KNOW what they need to do, but they’re not DOING it. Why can’t they just DO it? In the end, sports mindset really has nothing to do with athletic ability, agility, speed or strength. True sports mindset has to do with: - Understanding HOW to think, - Recognizing how unconscious thought has influenced the athletic performance to date, and - Learning how to permanently shift one’s thoughts into properly DOING what one KNOWS to do by first understanding how energy is involved in the creation of a thought. The organization, SportsMind Success – SportsMindSuccess.com – is one such entity that focuses almost exclusively on the core "thinking" issues that keep college and professional athletes and teams from achieving championship-oriented successes. With SportsMind Success workshops, webinars, consulting and ongoing curriculum built around this focus, athletes and coaches are finding that improvement is often quite dramatic, and that it proves to be consistently long lasting. In effect, old "thought patterns" are replaced with new thought patterns (and without any form of hypnosis!) and, as a result, individuals are finding that dramatic improvement also occurs in aspects of their lives OFF the field, too. Football Drills That Separate The Best From The Rest
Football Athletes! I got one simple question for you:
Are You Ready? With just a little over 3 months until training camp, the smart student-athletes have been training the right way year-round with sound programs like those provided through US Sports Strength and Conditioning.
While many schools do a great job with off-season strength, conditioning, and skill training, many athletes and their families are left to improvise in their local big box gym or look around the web for all of the 'cookie-cutter' 'one size fits all' programs slapped together with the intent of you buying their equipment or supplement.
Nah baybee not US Sports. We want to see you succeed. If a good strength coach or personal trainer is not feasible or affordable, train with our pros online saving money and time and more importantly training the right way for your sport. Click here to learn more
Here's our boi' Robbie with some additional drills that you can add to your program this summer to be ready to start this fall.
Let's get it!
-Nate
Football Drills That Separate The Best From The Rest
by Robbie Fredric
If you want to shine on under the Friday night lights, be a superstar on Saturday or maybe even one day make it to the NFL, you have to be willing to put in the work with plenty of football drills. It's important to keep in mind that not every player on a roster does the same thing for a football team, so each person will want to work on drills that are best for them. When a team of players come together, each one working hard on their own practices, then you can have a mighty team that is ready to take on whatever comes their way on the gridiron. Here are some drills that you can practice, to become a better football player.
Ladder Mobility
To be the best on the football field, then you need to have better footwork than your opponents. One of the best ways to get that footwork is to work on ladder mobility drills, which will help you get quicker and lighter on your feet. To set this drill up, you will put a ladder on the ground in front of you. Then you will line up on the side of the ladder at either end. The goal is to then step in and out of each space in the ladder as quickly as you can by going two steps forward, two steps back and then quickly shift to the next area of space. If you get really good at this drill, you can then begin sidestepping all of the spaces, which will help you with lateral movement as well.
Precision Passing
Most players dream of being the quarterback, simply because of the amount of accolades this position gets. However, those that want to be the quarterback need to set themselves apart from other players on the field in a variety of ways. To get better at passing, quarterbacks can do a drill that will work on how precise they are. To do this, setup multiple different targets at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards away. The goal is to then hit each of these markers in as many passes as you can. If you want to work with your receivers as well, then you can even bring them in and pass to them at the same distance. And if you want to improve your arm strength even more, consider going deeper than 50 yards once you have hit five targets in a row.
Oklahoma Drill
The name of this drill varies between different regions in the country. Some call it the Oklahoma Drill, while others may call it Bulls In The Ring. Whatever the name, the idea is all the same. To perform this drill you will line up two players in front of one another and a barrier just to each of their sides. When the whistle blows, each player will then have the objective of trying to push their opponent out of the center of the area. This drill is great for defensive players, but it also gets everyone worked up and is great for right before a game. It also helps quieter players come out of their shell, knowing they can go as hard as they want without worrying about hurting someone.
There are a variety of different football drills that you can consider to be a better football player. But with the three mentioned here, you'll become faster, stronger and more precise when you put in the work to be your best.

How Did He Make That Catch?
Kelvin Benjamin (WR Carolina Panthers), is one of the most promising young players in all of Football
Much of the world saw this in one play as he literally TOOK a pass away from defending Super Bowl Champion DB's Richard Sherman (All Pro and one of the Highest Paid DB's in the game), and Safety Earl Thomas albeit in a losing effort against the Seattle Seahawks.

"I started the NFL Combine program about 7 weeks ago. Since then I have noticed a tremendous increase in my strength and muscle stamina. All my lifts have gone up in weight and repetitions. I have gained about 4 lbs. of muscle while dropping my body fat by 2%. As a running back I need to be in top physical condition. I’ve found that out of all the programs I have done in the past, this one is the most beneficial for preparing me for football." Soccer Strength and Conditioning Programs
Players! Time To get Ready. Get a leg up on the competition by being the strongest, fastest, most agile player on the field. That athlete happens in the off-season!
Soccer
The sport of Soccer requires the combination of muscular endurance, strength and the ability to generate explosive sprinting power over and over again. Developing these physical attributes will always be positive no matter what sport one competes in. However, because of the aerobic challenges of playing soccer these physical qualities are even more important. Engaging in a resistance training program like the Competitive Soccer Program will maximize these physical attributes as well as the intangibles of injury prevention and proper body positioning when competiting against an opponent for offensive and defensive ball control. The Soccer Fitness program will also help in the development of these physical attributes, but it focuses primarily on fitness rather than a high level performance!
The Soccer Programs begin with lower weights and higher repetitions to create a solid conditioning base for the muscles. Then, transition from this muscular endurance base into a strength and power focus by using heavier weights and less reps as the weeks progress will occur.
Throughout the length of the Soccer Programs, the manipulation of the sets and repetitions for each exercise will be based on periodization concepts that involve changing the intensity and the volume of the workouts.
The starting point of the program is based on an initial fitness level. With feedback, the actual progression of the program will follow the body's unique adaptation process to exercise. Fine tune the program to include all the exercises that feel the best.

Sports-Specific Strength and Conditioning Programs.
However you are getting the training, make sure you train the right way for your sport
-Nate
The most important attribute of any quality training program is injury prevention. Knowing how to start a program is the first step. These Sports Specific Programs provide injury prevention by first establishing a strength and conditioning base. The sets, repetitions, exercise prescription, and actual weight of the programs are based off an initial fitness level and specific strength to bodyweight ratio's. With simple feedback, the progression of the program will follow the body’s unique adaptation process to exercise. Whether the goal is performance enhancement or simply the enjoyment of participation in a favorite activity, these Sports Specific Programs can and will provide great results!
Click on the link to your sport and specify your more detailed goals on the appropriate form during signup.
