What Gives God Pleasure?

Post by Joel Osteen

I talked to a gentleman the other day who worked in sales. When the boss of one of his clients called, at first he thought something must be wrong. But the boss was so impressed with this man's work that he offered him the position to run their whole sales department. It was a huge promotion. The boss said, "If you'll take the job, I'll give you a percentage of ownership in the company." The man said, "Joel, I never dreamed I'd be this blessed." He went from working at a company to owning part of a company.
Sometimes religion can make you feel like it's wrong to be blessed and have resources, but David says, "God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant" (Psalm 35:27). It brings a smile to God's face to make things happen that amaze you, to increase you in ways that you've never imagined. As a parent, when you do something special for your children, when you bless them with something they weren't expecting, you know how much joy that brings you. It's the same way with our heavenly Father. It gives Him pleasure to see you blessed. You may not see how it can happen, but that's not your job. Your job is to believe. Your job is to say, "Father, thank You that You're a more-than-enough God. Thank You that You take pleasure in prospering me. Thank You that You're opening doors that I can't open, showing me favor that I don't deserve."
The Scripture says, "God will supply all of our needs according to His riches" (Philippians 4:19). It doesn't say according to your talent or your education, or if your boss likes you, or if the economy is good, or if you have the right friends. It's not according to what you have; it's according to what He has. The good news is, God owns it all.
You were created to live an abundant life, but when you've struggled for a long time, it's easy to develop a scarcity mentality, thinking, "I'll never be able to afford a nice house, to bless my family, or to start my own business." As long as you think not enough, you'll never have more than enough. Get rid of that scarcity mentality and start having an abundant mentality. God has ways to increase you that you've never thought of. If you'll take the limits off of Him, God is going to bless you beyond your normal income, beyond your salary, beyond what anyone in your family has seen.
