The Series
Bowie State suffered a 71-65 setback on the road to the Vikings on Jan. 18. Prior to the loss, the Bulldogs owned an 8-2 record against ECSU in the last 10 matchups. The Bulldogs are 12-1 since 2009 when facing Elizabeth City State at home.

Last Time Out
The Bulldogs earned a much needed win at home and in the CIAA with a 62-59 victory over Shaw University last weekend. The Bowie State defense held Shaw shooters to just 40-percent from the field. The Bears did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only nine offensive rebounds and scored 10 second chance points. Sophomore Caleb Johnson, had 16 points. Senior Quinton Drayton added 12 points and junior Joel Webb helped out with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Last Time against ECSU
The Bulldogs almost pulled a triumph comeback after being down by 15 points in the first half. Bowie State had forced the game into the overtime but the Vikings outscored the Bulldogs, 12-6 in the extra five minutes. Junior Anthony Carpenter had 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Freshman Warren Mouganda added 14 points, six rebounds and two steals and junior Joel Webb added eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Bowie State out-rebounded Elizabeth City State 60-56 in the game, led by Webb's 13 boards. The Bulldogs also grabbed 24 offensive rebounds and scored 22 second chance points. BSU's defense was effective at taking away the ball, forcing 15 Viking turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 18 points on the offensive end of the floor. Carpenter's three steals led the way individually for the Bulldogs.

A Look at the Vikings
