WACO, TEX.– Ashland (Ohio) handed then-No. 2 Ferris State (Mich.) a 20-3 loss and landed in the 20th spot of this week’s AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll for the first time this season. The loss dropped Ferris State 13 places to No. 15. Northwest Missouri State still sits at No. 1, followed by new No. 2 Texas A&M-Commerce, No. 3 Shepherd (W.Va.), No. 4 Indiana (Pa.) and No. 5 California (Pa.).
Also jumping into the poll this week is Winona State (Minn.), who comes in at No. 25. The last time the Warriors were in the Top 25 was September 29, 2014, when they were also ranked 25th.
There are three Top 25 matchups this week and all three have conference title implications. No. 5 California travels to No. 18 Slippery Rock (Pa.) with the winner owning at least a share of the top spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division. No. 8 Colorado Mesa takes its unbeaten record to No. 17 Colorado State-Pueblo with first place on the line in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The last matchup has No. 22 Assumption (Mass.) looking to stay undefeated against No. 24 LIU-Post (N.Y.).
