Tucker Tobin Returns, Homers, and Wins at Povich Field!

Big Train College Round-Up 3/1
Interview: Tucker Tobin (BT '12-'13)
Interview: Tucker Tobin (BT '11-'13) Back at Povich Field

Tucker Tobin (BT '11-'13) of George Mason was named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Northeast Region Player of the Week and CAA Player of the Week last week after he had a few of incredible games last weekend against Iona. On Friday night, he went 4/4 with a walk, two stolen bases, and four runs scored. During a double-header on Sunday, he went a combined 6/9 with a walk, three runs scored, and seven runs batted in coming off two home runs and a double.

On Wednesday, Tobin and his George Mason Patriots came into Shirley Povich Field to take on the Georgetown Hoyas. That game featured two other former Big Train players in Josh Leemhuis (BT '11) and Brandon Gum (BT '12) that play for the Patriots as well. The Big Train powered George Mason to a 4-1 win as Leemhuis had an RBI single while Tobin drove in three runs and came up a triple short of the cycle.

"Hopefully I'll hit some more (homers) here next summer," Tobin said after the win. "It's always fun to play at Povich."

Another player who had a strong weekend was Hunter Renfroe (BT '11-'12/ Mississippi St.). Over three games, Renfroe composed a stat line of 5/10, 2HBP, 3R, 6RBI, 2HR, 3B, but one of the two pitches he was hit by caused a very small fracture in his throwing hand and has caused him to miss the last few games. The injury isn't supposed to be a serious one and Renfroe is expected back soon. That said, the Bethesda Big Train wishes him a speedy recovery.
