Children and the Need for Physical Activity
Children in the U.S. today are less fit than they were a generation ago and showing early signs of cardiovascular disease such as weight gain, higher serum cholesterol, and cigarette smoking.
Inactive children, when compared with active children, weigh more, have higher blood pressure and lower levels of heart-protective high-density lipoproteins. Even though heart attack and stroke are rare in children, evidence suggests that the process leading to those conditions begins in childhood. The 1987 National Children and Youth Fitness Study indicates that at least half of youth don't engage in physical activity that promotes long-term health and that less than 36 percent of elementary and secondary schools offer daily PE classes and that most classes were unlikely to foster lifelong physical activity.
A fitness testing program sponsored by the Chrysler Fund Amateur Athletic Union, which tracks fitness among 9.7 million youngsters between the ages of 6 and 17, shows that children are getting slower in endurance running and are getting weaker. Since 1980 there has been a 10 percent drop off on scores for distance runs and an 11 percent decline in youngsters who achieved at least a "satisfactory" score on the entire test.
An estimated 2.1 million adolescents age 12 to 17 are smokers. Nine million American children under age five live with at least one smoker and are exposed to second-hand smoke for virtually the whole day. It is estimated that 3,000 American young people become smokers every day.
Children spend an average of 17 hours a week watching TV in addition to the time they spend on video and computer games. Inactive children are more likely to become inactive adults. Healthful lifestyle training should begin in childhood to promote improved cardiovascular health in adult life. The following good health practices should be promoted among children:

  • regular physical activity
  • a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet after the age of two
  • smoking prevention
  • appropriate weight for height
  • regular pediatric medical checkups

The Truth About Cancer Featuring: How to Beat Cancer with Ancient Medicine Part 1 - Dr. Josh Axe

In this video, Dr. Josh Axe breaks down the many herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, why they’re used, and what they’re good for.

He begins by telling us which foods he believes are most important, and why medicine should be personalized.

Everybody's body needs something different. So it’s important to remember, because a lot of times we want everything to be black and white. Meat is all bad or dairy is all bad or it's not. It really depends upon the person.

Did you know that medicine, up until a few hundred years ago, was considered herbs and spices? Whether it be in a tea form or tension form, that's what people used as medicine.

Dr. Axe does a wonderful job at breaking down the benefits of herbs, spices, and plants. Plus, discover the most powerful herbs for detoxification!

Traditional Chinese Medicine - Everything You Need to Know

By: Duncan Mcgechie

Traditional Chinese medicine or TMC is an ancient system of wellness and health that has evolved over thousands of years. Western medicine of today primarily focuses on treating diseases or the symptoms of diseases, but TMC has a holistic approach and is aimed at improving the overall well-being of an individual. Practitioners of TMC make use of various body and mind practices, such as tai chi and acupuncture, along with herbal products to address different health issues.

The idea behind traditional Chinese medicine
Typically, Western medicine views the human body like a car or a machine. According to them, the body has varied systems that require the right outputs and inputs. Everything is very logical and concrete. On the other hand, traditional Chinese medicine in London does not focus on medicine and science. Instead, it is based on harmony, energy and balance.

Broadly, there are central ideas behind Chinese medicine:
 Qi (pronounced as chi): This is also referred to as vital energy or life energy. It is believed that Qi runs throughout the body and it is always on the move. Qi is never constant. TCM treatments are basically focused on ways to enhance and maintain the flow of Qi.

 Yin and Yang: Yin and Yang are opposites that describe Qi’s qualities. While Yin is light, hot, day, feminine and hollow, Yang is heavy, cold, solid, night and masculine. The belief is that every single thing in life has a little of the opposite in them, and therefore, balance is crucial. For instance, pharmaceutical drugs prescribed by a healthcare practitioner is needed to heal disease, but if you end up consuming it too much, it can be dangerous.

As per TCM, balancing the yin and yang of Qi leads to making an individual feel well and healthy.

Different types of practices used by TCM
 Acupuncture: Acupuncture is an ancient technique where practitioners stimulate certain points on the body by inserting thin needles. There are several studies that have revealed that acupuncture helps the body in releasing its natural painkillers. It also helps to relieve pain, stress and anxiety, as well as, help with fertility issues and more.
 Chinese herbs: Chinese herbal products like, powders, teas and capsules are mostly made out of plants and they are known to be effective in the treatment of heart diseases, stroke, respiratory diseases and mental disorders.

 Cupping therapy: Cupping therapy is another form of ancient alternative medicine in which a practitioner places heated cups on the skin for a few minutes in order to create suction. Cupping helps to loosen the muscles, sedate the nervous system and encourage blood flow.
 Tai chi: Tai chi combines gentle movements, certain postures, relaxation and breathing. As per studies, tai chi helps to improve stability and balance in people, especially those suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Practising tai chi also helps in reducing pain from osteoarthritis.

Does TCM work?
Traditional Chinese medicine is an approach that covers a lot of ground, and therefore, results might vary. A lot of research has been done on acupuncture and Chinese herbs. In fact, Western medicine is also waking up to the benefits of TCM and recommending it to patients, along with Western treatments. Here are some of the ways that TCM works.

● A few Chinese herbal products have made inroads into Western medicine clinics to treat various kinds of conditions including arthritis, menopause and sleep troubles.
● Today, acupuncture is an accepted treatment for a wide range of conditions, ranging from pain relief to infertility and it is also known to limit the side-effects of chemotherapy.
● Cupping provides relief from shingles and other health conditions, and tai chi offers to improve stability by focusing on slow movements and breathing techniques.

Traditional Chinese medicine is a holistic approach to health and well-being. However, you must only refer to a certified and experienced practitioner in order to reap the benefits of this alternative medicine.

Acubody specialises in traditional Chinese medicine in London. They have a team of experts who use acupuncture and Chinese herbs to treat a variety of health conditions including infertility, anxiety, stress, menstrual irregularity, digestive disorders and so on. The meet patients at their London clinic.

Real World Police on US Sports Net Presented by Tactical P.E. Featuring: Homeowner Catches, Wallops, Residential Burglar and Do Not Be The Victim - 3 Tips To Avoid The Need For Self-Defense

When Caleb Clark entered 4761 Hilda Drive he thought that that it would be another score. Clark would help himself to the owner's property and no one would be the wiser. Things didn't go according to plan. Instead Caleb ended up in the hospital.

Despite having already left for work, the Army-veteran man of the house decided to swing back and briefly check on things.

And when he returned to find Caleb Clark in his living room, it was on. Clark attempted to flee, but took off in the direction of a closed door.

The homeowner quickly closed the distance and opened up a Costco-size can of whoopass on Clark, eventually pinning him to the floor and calling 911.

Caleb R. Clark, 19, had to have his head stapled closed, after which he was booked on two third-degree felony charges — one each of residential burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. (Caleb had cut the homeowner with a piece of glass.)

Clark also had three outstanding felony warrants for his arrest: two for violating terms of his release and one for failure to appear... for a residential burglary he allegedly committed back in January 2019. He won't be getting out any time soon.

Do Not Be The Victim - 3 Tips To Avoid The Need For Self-Defense

By: G J Thomas

Are you a victim-in-waiting? Do you give out all the wrong signals? Is your body language precisely what predators are looking for when hunting for easy prey? No matter how well trained you are it is far better to never have to use your self-defense skills. Knowing how to present yourself as a bad target could be enough to save yourself from a life-threatening attack. These three quick tips can greatly reduce your chances of being singled out for unwanted attention from the nastier people out there.

Tip 1: Your body language. Studies have shown that those who start confrontational situations look for certain types of people to be their victims. Like predators searching for prey, they seek out the easiest targets. The bar bully will not usually pick a fight with someone who looks like they will give them a hard time. The mugger in the street will not select a confident person who looks prepared and equipped to handle any situation. Your goal in everyday life is not to present yourself in a manner that makes you appear like an easy target for trouble.

Your body language is crucial in the victim selection process. You give off signs of your general demeanor without being consciously aware of it, and a typical bully or attacker will be looking for these signals. Your walk should be confident and smooth, your posture one of authority, your head should be up and you should appear alert and aware of your surroundings. You are looking to project an outward image of self-belief and zero fear. No matter how concerned you are, or how fearful, projecting a positive persona at all times could stop you from being selected as the next victim.

Tip 2: Awareness. Sometimes just being aware of your surroundings is enough to avoid a potential attack. Attackers frequently use surprise tactics to gain an advantage, knowing that the shock will aid them in their mission to inflict misery and damage. By being alert and aware of potential danger you can often dodge trouble. If you have to walk near potential hiding places for attackers then do so with outward confidence, but with inward caution. Use your eyes and ears to locate any threats. Cross the street to avoid people who you think may cause trouble for you. Try to stay away from darkened areas and stay close to groups of regular people as much as possible. Listen to your instincts - if you think somebody is following you then do not be afraid to seek help from shop owners, club door persons, passing couples, whoever. It's far better to make a mistake than take a risk.

Tip 3: Giving help. A ploy often used by attackers is also one they use to assess your victim potential - they initiate one-to-one contact with you in a seemingly innocent way: Asking you for the time. Asking you for cash to help them. Asking you to help somebody who is hurt. Asking for simple directions. Asking if they've seen you around. There are endless possibilities for an attacker to engage you in conversation, and human nature means you will respond, but how you respond is very important. Are you easy prey? Are you a victim-in-waiting? Again, it's confidence that is the key here. Be polite, be firm, and be fast. Make confident eye-contact, and if you are walking try not to break your stride too much as you answer with a non-confrontational reply. A simple and confident, "I can't help, sorry", will often be enough to deter an attacker. Your brief encounter in this situation needs to give off signals that you are not weak, you are not easy prey, and you're more trouble than you're worth.

In everything you do and say, you should try to exude an aura of being able to take care of yourself. No attacker wants a hard time from their chosen victims and they will usually avoid anyone who appears to be a tough target. You can be that tough target with the right forethought.

The Rock Almighty Devotional, Praise, and Worship with P.K. Mitchell

January 27 From CDM

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).
When we rely on our self-efforts to do the right thing but miss the mark anyway, condemnation and guilt work their way into our souls and sit at the base of our lives, ruling us like tyrants. Relying on Jesus and accepting His grace frees us from that.

God Wants You Well

For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.
Jeremiah 30:17

God wants you well! Did you know that? He wants you healthy and strong in every single area of your life.
He wants you to be spiritually strong. Strong in faith. Strong in the Word. Strong in redemption. Strong in the love of God.
He wants you to be well in your mind, to be strong and stable emotionally.
He wants you to have a healthy will, a will that's aligned with His will.
He wants your body to be well. He wants you free from the bondages of pain, sickness and care. Free from the worries and woes of this earthly life.
Your heavenly Father wants you well!
What's more, in this day and hour, He needs you well. He needs you living in victory and healing so that you can teach others how to do it too. We're stepping in to a time when that kind of knowledge is an absolute necessity. There's no more time for the Body of Christ to limp along, uninformed and unprepared for the devil's attacks.
In fact, here's what the Lord has told me:
The further you go, the more dangerous things in the earth will become. People will have to grow in the realities of redemption and the "how-to's" of living by faith in order to live in the great, overcoming way I have planned for them.
Jesus gave Himself in death so that we could be well. He was raised in life, ever making intercession for us now so that we can be well. And He wants us to be healthy and strong as a witness in these last days to a world that's filled with terror—a witness of His love, His grace and His power.
Receive Jesus' healing power in every area of your life. Start applying it by faith right now. Commit yourself to getting well and growing strong in every area of your life today!
