O-Line Technique and Drill Manual

This Manual has a lifetime guarantee.  Any updates that Stewart makes will be included here, so you will get ALL future editions and updates.
This 225-page manual is a systematic way to teach offensive linemen in any man blocking offensive scheme.  The linear teaching progression, as well as the practice organization, can be used in any type of offense.   It is very important that any multiple offense has a very efficient practice organization and drill progressions.
-- SIX chapters on pass protections
-- Down Block, Scoop Block, Reach Block, Kick Outs, Double Teams, Escape to Backer
-- Guard Trap, Weakside Iso, Counter, Midline, Veer, Off-Tackle Power, Jet, Boot Pass....these are good football plays in ANY offense.
coachtube-football-vertical-ad
-- A chapter on strength & conditioning specific for linemen
-- THREE chapters on Practice Organization.
While this book is based on the wing-T offense, with its misdirection,  power,  counter,  option,  play-action,  and dropback capabilities within the system, this book shows how to take advantage of the UNDERSIZED linemen at the high school level.  Iso schemes, power schemes, the ability to zone block, mobility to pull and log or trap, and the ability to be an effective pass blocker, are among the skills that a lineman in the wing-T offense must develop.
This book will give you a clearly defined system of drills and progressions used in teaching line play. While the system of teaching wing-T offensive line techniques is very structured and systematic for the wing-T offense, I believe that the drills, skills, and coaching points taught are effective in ANY offensive scheme. The blocking techniques include sound principles of offensive line play, regardless of scheme, and can be used with the I, option, zone, or any other offensive philosophy. Book this course....
WITHOUT THE LINEMEN, FOOTBALL WOULD JUST BE A GAME OF CATCH

Strength Coach- Jump Monitoring- Thoughts & Action Plan

Joel Jackson

University of Alberta

Here at the U of A, we have students help out and gain experience in the Sports Performance center in a number of different capacities. One of the more recent projects set in motion is that of an internship in which we selected a number of third year students that had a keen interest in strength and conditioning. Each student was then placed with each one of our lead coaches to work directly with them and the varsity sports that they manage.
One of the projects that I wanted to try with my student was to start gathering some jump data for monitoring purposes.
click me

This is something I have wanted to get off the ground for sometime, but struggled with the logistics of how it would work. Some of the problems that I have encountered include: one jump mat to use, sporadic workout times in-season and the fact that I would have roughly 90 athletes to gather data on. With the help of a student, a couple of times a week, I figured it was as good of time as any to just start doing jumps and see how it worked.

The ongoing frustration with wellness surveys also added to my initiation of the jump monitoring. I am pretty much convinced that these types of surveys are not the best thing to use when dealing with a large number of athletes. It is a never-ending battle with the teams I work with to keep their compliance up with the surveys and there always seems to be issues with them not receiving notifications, or not being able to log on to the platform (a whole other can of worms).
Also, when I think back to times when the responses were somewhat consistent, I still wasn't seeing much value out of it. If something came up that was concerning, that lead to a conversation with said athlete, I asked myself, why do I need this survey to tell me when to have a conversation with my athlete?
Why not just have a conversation with them every week?
“How are you feeling after the weekend?”
“How is school going?”
“How are you liking the workouts?”
All these questions can give me the info I am looking for with the surveys and allow me to connect with the athletes more often as an added bonus. With that being said, I need to do a better job moving forward, making sure that these talks happen regularly and that I am writing notes about them as well. My stance on this was also supported after reading Jace Delaney's article on Invisible Monitoring. Do yourself a favor; read it. It is very informative.

Are we beginning to overlook the true reasons behind christenings?
By: Janice Lennon

With spectacles on, for example, on a recent episode of a popular reality television show, where a fight broke out after a babies christening, it is easy to question the real reasons behind the first of the seven sacraments in the Catholic Church. It seems that more and more often, sacraments are recurrently becoming more about the superficial than the true religious aspects in which they were originated upon. In the following paragraphs, we will delve into the typical Christening traditions within the Catholic Church and the reason behind each of these traditions.

Catholic christening originated from Christ himself. He stated, "Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3: 3-5) The act of being Christened brings, typically infants, into a new life in Christ as well as washing their soul free from Original Sin. It is also the first of three Sacraments of Initiation into the Church, the following two being the Sacrament of Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation. On the day of the infant's christening, both the child's parents as well as godparents stand before family and friends while the parish's priest pours water over the child's head while saying, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

A Traditional aspect of Christenings includes the garments worn by the baptized individual, the Christening gown. These beautiful and intricately made gowns are typically white or off white, which signifies the purity of the baptized individual. More recently, Christening gowns have altered into several different styles other than the traditional gown; including christening rompers and baptismal suits. The Christening gown is also a treasured keepsake among family members. These christening gowns vary in length, style, and fabric, but the one thing they have in common is the elegance and richness provided in each gown. You can find Christening gowns, shoes, bibs, bonnets, Baptism Dresses, Baptismal gifts, and much more at www.Christian-Baby.com

These are just a few of the many Catholic traditions involved in a Christening. It is important to remember, on this exciting and busy day, the real reason behind the Sacrament – welcoming another member of the Catholic Church into Christ's kingdom.
