Jim Stoppani's 15-Minute Arm-Blaster Routine
Build bigger biceps and triceps with this super-efficient arm workout.
Let's cut to the chase because everyone is short on time. I've got a 15-minute arm workout that will feel more like an
hour-long session by the end. This routine will help you build size and
definition in both the biceps and triceps through a variety of equipment
(barbells, cables, and dumbbells, in that order), grips (overhand,
neutral, single-arm, double-arm), and angles of pull (overhead, behind
the back, in front of the body). Biceps and triceps perform the exact opposite movements—elbow flexion
and extension, respectively—which makes them perfect supersetting
partners. If you did all of the below six exercises, and 18 sets total,
as straight sets, it would take you twice as long. So, when you're short on time
or just looking to tack a quick arm workout onto the end of another
routine, give this a try. If you've got 15 minutes to spare, you've got
time to build bigger arms. Here's a superset-by-superset rundown of the workout. You can also
watch the below video, where I demonstrate all six moves at The JYM in
Hollywood, my personal training headquarters.
Superset 1: Barbell Curl and Lying Barbell Triceps Extension
3 sets, 8-10 reps per exercise Your first superset pairs two major mass-building moves for the bis
and tris. When in doubt, do your barbell exercises early in the workout,
as you can use the most weight when your muscles are at their freshest. As I state in the video, to maximize triceps tension on the lying
extensions, shift your arms back so that your upper arms are pointed
slightly behind you (as opposed to perpendicular with the floor). When
you do this, your triceps are still fighting gravity even when the
elbows are locked out at the very top; when the arms are perfectly
vertical, tension is taken off the triceps momentarily at the end of
each rep.
Pick aggressive weights on these two exercises. You want to make sure
you're hitting failure in the 8-10-rep range on at least the first set
for both moves. On the second and third sets, stick with the same
weights and go to failure again, whether you hit 8-10 reps or not. With
only 15 minutes devoted to arm training, don't waste any time—start
fatiguing the muscles right out of the gate.
Superset 2: Cable Triceps Kick-back and Single-Arm Behind-the-Back Cable Curl
3 sets, 15 reps per exercise Now we're moving to the cable station to emphasize the constant
tension provided by the pulleys. A couple other variables change in this
superset, as well. First of all, you'll be doing unilateral (one arm at a time)
movements to promote balanced development in both arms. Normally, you
wouldn't do single-arm versions when trying to save time, but as long as
you take zero rest between sets, you'll still be able to move through
these exercises quickly. Alternate muscle groups every set: right side
triceps, right side biceps, left side triceps, left side biceps. I
recommend a neutral grip on the kick-backs (holding the cable directly)
and a supinated grip (using a handle) on the curls. You'll also switch arm position with these two exercises; both moves
place the working arm behind the body, whereas Superset 1 had the arms
in front of the torso. Behind-the-back curls place more emphasis on the
biceps long head (which makes up a majority of the biceps "peak"), while
kick-backs place slightly more emphasis on the triceps lateral head. Again, take all 3 sets for both exercises to failure, using the same
weights for all sets on each exercise. Cable exercises are often used as
detailing moves, but these should be no walk in the park. If anything,
these sets should burn a little more than the barbell moves due to the
higher reps and constant tension provided by the cables.
Superset 3: Hammer Curl and Dumbbell Overhead Extension
3 sets, 10-12 reps per exercise For the final superset, dumbbells are the tool of choice. With the
hammer curl, your hands are in a neutral position. This brings the
brachialis muscle into play to add thickness to the arms, while also
targeting the long head once again. With the other move, the arms-overhead position squarely targets the
long head of the triceps. When the long head is fully developed, you'll
have great thickness on the backs of your upper arms near your
shoulders.
You can do the hammer curls either alternating or both arms
simultaneously. Your call. The overhead extensions can be performed
either standing or seated.
After going to failure on all sets of these two dumbbell exercises,
the workout is complete. To stay on task, try to make sure each superset
pairing (3 sets each) takes no more than 5 minutes. In future workouts, feel free to use different variations of the same
movements—for example, do dumbbell versions of the Superset 1 moves, or
use cables on the Superset 3 exercises. With a variety of movements and high intensity, building bigger pipes doesn't have to take long. This workout proves it!
The Truth About Cancer presents: How to Make Essiac Tea! Whatever your thoughts on conventional medicine or your personal choice
about following standard medical advice, there are available holistic
therapies you can use in conjunction with your current cancer treatment
to increase your chances of surviving a brutal and unrelenting disease.
Saving lives should be everyone’s goal by any means necessary.
Rene Caisse treated her patients with an inexpensive, natural tea for
fifty years – free of charge − and had the support of many renowned
scientists, respected doctors, and cancer survivors until her death in
1978.
A mixture originally used by the Canadian Ojibwa tribe, this “tea of
life” was recreated by Nurse Caisse and administered to her patients
starting in the 1920s. Patients who were told there was no hope by their
doctors were able to beat their cancer.
Essiac tea detoxifies the body, attacks cancer cells, and ramps up the
immune system with powerful antioxidants. To date, it has proven safe
for all but pregnant or nursing women.
For best results, buy the
ingredients individually and prepare it yourself.

"So, how do you think you did on those tests?" "About a D...." Sounds about right.
This arrestee is a great example of the erratic and unpredictable
emotional state of an intoxicated person when they are placed under
arrest.
DUI laws are quite complex and vary
from state to state. For example, California DUI Laws are so strict
that the state leads the nation in DUI arrests. There were almost
200,000 people arrested for DUI in California alone last year. When a
person is arrested on DUI charges in Florida, he has approximately ten
days to ask for a hearing with the Florida Department of Highway Safety
and Motor Vehicles to protect his license from being confiscated
permanently.
Most people think that if they get pulled over for
DUI, and are below the legal limit, that the officer will let them go
or they will only be fined and not charged. Actually, an arrest for DUI
can be made at any blood alcohol level.
The physical evidence
of drunk driving includes slurred speech; inability to perform normal
activities like standing, walking, or turning; red, glassy, bloodshot
eyes; dilated pupils; and odor of alcohol on the breath.
Some
DUI defense attorneys report that breathalyzers used by law enforcement
do not accurately measure alcohol -- and thus may produce falsely high
"blood alcohol" readings. Additionally, diabetics with low blood sugar
can have high levels of acetone, which is "seen" as alcohol by
breathalyzers.
If convicted, the DUI can render the defendant
financially, socially, and psychologically impoverished and impaired.
However, it is possible to have DUI records cleared in almost all
states.
Many people charged with DUI want to know what a DUI attorney can do for them.
A
well-qualified and professional DUI attorney can help to minimize the
severity of DUI records and in some cases they can eliminate your DUI
records completely.
A DUI attorney can check the case against
you for errors, have samples independently analyzed, move to suppress
certain evidence, arrange for expert testimony and witnesses, contest
license suspensions and negotiate reduced penalties and sentences. DUI
attorneys have to be knowledgeable and well versed in subjects such as
blood analysis, breath tests, drug recognition evaluation and urine
tests.
MISLEADING STATEMENTS BY POLICE OFFICERS
Any
misleading statement by the police regarding the consequences of taking
(or refusing) a blood, breath, or urine test can cause the suspension to
be reversed and removed from the driver’s record.
Think all
policemen are 'officer friendly'? Think they're all honest? Think again.
I've known several policemen in different parts of the country and
you'd be surprised at some of their 'tricks of the trade' that they
routinely utilize. Keep in mind that these cops were personal friends of
mine and bragged about some of the things they did -
A) If you
want to cause problems for a driver you've pulled over, cite him for DUI
and write in your report that when asked for his registration and proof
of insurance, the driver seemed confused and disoriented. The fact of
the matter is that most everyone stores these documents in their glove
compartment, along with lots of other papers and miscellaneous junk. Of
course, it will take anyone a couple of minutes to find the requested
papers, but reporting that the driver appeared confused and disoriented
will go a long way in convincing a judge that the driver was indeed
impaired.
B) If a cop wants to make some extra cash, he'll check the record of
anyone he pulls over for drunk driving. If the driver has had previous
DUI convictions, he's the perfect target for a big cash bribe. He's
given the choice of being cited for a second or third DUI, or he can pay
a 'fine' in cash, directly to the cop. Given the choice of heavy DUI
penalties or paying the cop, many drivers will fork over the cash.
C)
Sit outside of a banquet hall that's used for wedding receptions. In
almost all cases, there's drinking going on, so whenever anyone leaves,
pull them over, threaten them with a DUI citation and then offer to let
them go if they pay the fine right now.
There are other
money-making routines the cops use, but I think you get the idea. When a
cop pulls you over, you're at his mercy.
Since I've had several
cops, from different parts of the country, brag about doing things like
this, I have to conclude that such practices are not just isolated
cases.
LACK OF PROBABLE CAUSE TO ARREST
A police officer
must have specific and supportable facts to support any arrest for DUI,
or the suspension will be reversed and the evidence suppressed at trial.
In simple terms, you shouldn't be pulled over for DUI just because
you're driving a red sports car.

Obeying God affects every area of our lives,
and most of us have been taught since childhood the importance of
obedience. However, over time, how we obey has changed. The
transition from the Law of Moses to grace brought with it a change in
requirements, from obeying a long list of rules to believing what’s now
available because of God’s undeserved favor toward us. Understanding the
requirements of obedience under the law versus the requirements of
obedience to the faith frees us from endless self-effort.
The law stipulated that man had to act, first, before God could bless
him; failure to perform correctly brought curses. Religion still
teaches this mindset, and it puts considerable pressure on us to
perform. Jesus came and changed all that. It’s still important for us to
obey God, but relying on the finished works of Jesus rather than on our
own abilities empowers us to do what we regularly failed at in the
past. Jesus replaced the Ten Commandments with just one law—the law of
love. Our faith in Him allows us to love and forgive others with
supernatural help from the Holy Spirit. Before, the people were
commanded to love God; now, we can love others because we know that He loved us first. We’re empowered to forgive the same way.
During Jesus’ earthly ministry, when the rich young ruler asked Him
what to do to be saved, Jesus answered according to the law. After His
death and resurrection, the answer was completely different—believe.
Faith makes the impossible possible. God is no longer an angry God. He no longer punishes us for missing
the mark and falling short, but instead is ready to show us His love and
forgiveness. We can put our full faith in this. Prayer: Lord, the finished works of Jesus mean that we no longer have to
strive endlessly to follow rules. We can instead simply believe in Your
love for us. This changes everything. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen. Scriptures: Isaiah 1:19, 20 Deuteronomy 28:1-3, 15 John 13:34 Matthew 22:37-39 1 John 4:19 Mark 11:26 Matthew 6:14, 15 Colossians 3:13 Ephesians 4:32 Matthew 19:16, 17 Acts 16:30, 31

Many men are questioning who they are and what roles they fulfill in
life—as men, fathers, and husbands. This uncertainty is disrupting their
personal and professional lives, leaving them frustrated and causing
them to live far below their potential. This message highlights cultural
attitudes toward men and redefines the purpose God has given them for
the many roles they play. Be a Man
By: Damien Dodd What does it mean to be a man? Are
there requirements to be a man? Is it necessary to you to be
"considered" a man? These are very important questions that men may
catch themselves asking. Unfortunately, answers to these questions are
not that clear, and pondering them may be detrimental to one’s psyche.
There are certainly stereotypes about men and fathers,
gender roles we fill, as well as societal pressures that can make men
feel as though there are prescribed attributes and characteristics that
are imperative in "being a man". They can influence men's perspectives
on their appearance, the way they look at their career and most
importantly their emotions. Understanding these pressures, both overt
and covert, is necessary because they act on us, whether we like it or
not. They may fuel our anxieties, insecurities and fears. Therefore, we
must take them into account when deciding whether they will be
incorporated into our own personal definition of "being a man". Men more commonly identify themselves via their profession.
"I am a doctor, lawyer or architect", at times, over-looking key roles
as fathers, sons, friends and coworkers. Some of us put so much into
our professional images that it comes at a cost to our relationships
outside work. What effect does this have on those who have historically
female-affiliated jobs like male nurses, airline attendants and
hair-stylists? Are they not "real men"? What about those who are
unemployed? How would they identify themselves?
Historically, men have been the "providers" or "breadwinners" of the
household. This puts a great deal of pressure on men to be financially
successful, not just enough for ourselves, but for our significant
others and children. How does a man define himself if he is not the
sole household income or primary "breadwinner"? Is he not a "provider"? We are expected to be strong, brave and never to let our
emotions get the best of us. We are told "real men don’t cry" or is it
that a "real man is not afraid to cry". The point is that there are a
great deal of conflicting perspectives regarding what it means to be a
man, and there is no way to satisfy them all. If one allows others to
dictate how they feel about themselves, they may expend a great deal of
energy trying to appease other, making their own happiness a mirage. We must decide for ourselves what attributes we think are necessary in
"being a man". We must also be aware all of these pressures, because
they act on us directly and indirectly. So, before you ask yourself,
"Am I a man?" One must answer the question, "Is it important to me to
"be a man"? And then, more importantly, am I happy with the type of man
I am? For more information on this and other subjects, feel free to contact

One of the nation’s most storied high
school football traditions hits the century mark in 2019 as the Loyola
Dons and Calvert Hall College Cardinals set their sights on Turkey Bowl
100.
When I
went to naming concepts, I tried to picture myself as a high school kid
trying to learn a new way of doing something. Often times, we lean
heavily on previous learning, and are reluctant to try something new. We
don’t want to move out of our “comfort zone”. If we don’t have to, we
won’t. However, to do something that we’ve never done before, we have to
be willing to change. With that in mind, I tried to tie “previous
learning with a new way of communication”. Simply put, word association! Necessities Whatever
the play is called (inside zone, outside zone, counter, trap, etc.),
the word that we use has to start with that same letter. The reason is:
kids can relate to that one letter. The calls have to fit into
what I call “families”. A family can be (cars, foods, cities, football
teams, basketball teams, baseball teams, whatever works for your kids).
All
plays are taught going to the right (reason being, most kids and
coaches are right handed). When we wanted a play to be run to the left,
we added an “indicator.” Our first year doing this, our indicator
was a number. We didn’t care what the number was (it could be any number
from 1 to 1000; if our kids heard a number, the play was being run to
the left). We had to be able to have both a word and a signal for
each play (sometimes you slip back into the mode of doing it the “old”
way when the ball is on the hash to your sideline), and we thought about
it long and hard. For our first indicator, our signal was
“flicking water off of our hands” (like when you go to dry your hands,
and there is no paper towels available). It was easy to remember, and it
made sense to our kids. Our first “family” came from our kids at Lower Richland (the school that I was the head coach at). We put up a list of our run plays, and asked the kids to give them a name, and a signal for each one.
If we want
the QB to be the ball carrier, we would just put both palms on our head
(our indicator to the QB and the rest of the skill position players) You
can make your family anything you want to (Power can be Pittsburgh;
with Power Left can be Steelers; Cincinnati can be counter right, and
Bengals can be counter left; etc) Make NBA teams your pass concepts: ex- San Antonio can be snag right; and Spurs can be snag left Hope it helps. Don’t use it if you can’t signal it!
