Jesse Duplantis | Awaken Church with Chad & Lacy Gonzales and LIFESAVING INFORMATION

Pastor Chad and Lacy Gonzales host Jesse and Cathy Duplantis at Awaken Church. Watch this powerful message by Jesse as he talks about the power of increase by association. [Video Below]

LIFESAVING INFORMATION

by Creflo Dollar

Many of us can recall seeing first responders at work at the scene of an emergency, doing what they were trained to do to save lives. Unlike the bystanders, the first responders had critical information they relied on to maintain life. If we wonder about what will happen to us when our earthly lives are done, there’s some lifesaving information we need to know. Most people are unaware of the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior; doing so will guarantee eternal life in heaven.
God loves us, and He wants us to be able to spend eternity with Him. The prevailing mindset the world goes by is to be as good as possible and hope for the best. To determine our final destination, we need more than simply what we can do on our own—we need Jesus. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
There’s more to life than what we see around us. What we do see is strife, chaos, and enough negativity to make us feel weary and old before our time. God wants us to know there’s an entire realm in the spirit that we can’t see; experiencing a rebirth into this realm redirects the course of our lives. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).
Being born again is the most important thing we could ever do. Not only does it open heaven’s gates to us, it also radically changes our lives for the better, right now. “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). We can begin experiencing new lives right away, without having to wait until we get to heaven.
We can put behind us past regrets and any guilt or shame we may feel over mistakes we’ve made, because God wipes the slate clean. We’re brand new creations; what we did in our old lives no longer matters. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). We can make a marvelous new beginning knowing that God has chosen to forget our failures and shortcomings.
This newness means that we don’t have to beat ourselves up for something we’ve done wrong. We can let it go and forgive ourselves because God has already forgiven us. “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). The memory of past sins that prevented us from moving forward in life has lost its grip on us. If we’ve been feeling weighed down by our past misdeeds, accepting God’s forgiveness lifts our spirits.
The world is full of information, but not all of it leads us to the type of understanding God wants us to have. Reading our Bibles and meditating on what we read allows Him to instill in us what we need to know. “…And with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). God’s Word provides lifesaving information that we need, but it’s up to us to decide whether or not to seek it out. What will your decision be?

Strength Coach- Unilateral Training and the Bilateral Deficit

Mike Boyle

“What if the way we had always done it was wrong?”
Lee Cockrell- Creating Magic
Any time we bring long held beliefs into question there is bound to be controversy. However, imagine that I was going to show you a new spin on lower body strength training that would allow you to train with heavier weights and yet was far safer and potentially more effective than what you currently do? I think many intelligent coaches would at least initially say “show me”.
click me

Unfortunately, as I began to describe how to lift heavier loads more safely, our sense of what is conventional and acceptable would take over. As I began to describe unilateral exercise as a method to use greater, not lesser loads the automatic reaction is “but I'm using less weight”.

In truth, you might be using less weight than you would use in the comparable bilateral lift but you would still be using more weight with the targeted muscles. By working only one side at a time you use what appear to be lighter loads. However, this is primarily a problem of math and secondarily a problem of perception.

As an example, a 1 Leg Straight Leg Deadlift using 135 lbs supplies 135 lbs to the involved leg and a load of 135 lbs on the spine. Using 225 lbs in a conventional two leg Romanian Deadlift ( yes, I hate the term but many find it recognizable) places 225 lbs of load to the spinal column but supplies only 112 lbs of load to the posterior chain of each leg ( if we assume equal contribution from each leg for discussion purposes).

In this example the targeted muscles are the glutes and hamstrings and, the unilateral exercise involves a higher load for the target muscles (glutes and hamstrings). The added bonus is a lower load to an area of injury concern ( lumbar spine). In other words, the unilateral exercise provides more posterior chain load with less low back stress. Can that be a bad thing? The rational answer is no, however our reaction is often more emotional than rational.

The next complaint or rationalization revolves around the thought that “the exercise doesn't look like what I'm used to “. Unilateral exercises are viewed as weird, different, dare I say functional? Unfortunately, I would again have to say that is not a good reason not to lift heavier loads, is it?

Another frequent complaint about unilateral exercise is that these new training ideas require too much balance. This is the most interesting complaint from the free weight community. If I brought up machine based training, comments like “free weights blow away machines”, “machines don't allow you to balance and stabilize the weight” etc. etc. would immediately come to mind. In fact, for years we have been told that free weights are superior to machines because you are required to balance the load and are incorporating important, underworked stabilizers?

However when the thought process moves one step further and we ask someone to perform a unilateral exercise the argument is often reversed. The unilateral opponent takes the position that unilateral exercises are not good because they are too unstable and require too much balance? Funny? In one breath we glorify free weights because of the balance and stability requirements and in the next breath denigrate unilateral training because of the balance and stability needed? To me this sounds like more of the Simon Senek lament:

“Why can't we do what we have always done?”

Is it really just the change that we dislike? Do we cling to ideas that are outdated even in the face of solid evidence?

Henry Ford had a great quote that parallels my position on unilateral training.

“If I'd listened to my customers I would have invented a faster horse”

If I'd listened to everyone else, we would still be doing back squats and proclaiming them as the King of All Exercises.

Unilateral training is not accepted primarily because it is different and secondarily because it is unconventional. Fortunately (for me) or unfortunately ( for most everyone else) the evidence is becoming more and more clear that unilateral training allows for training with higher loads on the targeted muscles. iHealthTube Featuring: Balance Your Hormones Through Diet! And Could a Man’s Midlife Crisis be Hormones?

Our hormones can change throughout the day, week and month. They affect so many functions in our body. In this video, Dr. Anna Cabeca discusses how your diet can help keep these hormones, and other functions in balance, and how diet can also throw them out of balance! [Video below]

Could a Man’s Midlife Crisis be Hormones?
By: Jim Michels

A male midlife crisis is often associated with "the male crazies" when men make decisions to that reinforce their ebbing youth and fights the winds of aging. Be it buying a new sports car, altering physical appearance or some other action of age defiance, men are saying, "I refuse to admit that I am getting older," or "I refuse to admit that I am mortal".

Consider that underlying changes are taking place in a man’s chemistry during this time. Starting about age 27, key hormones start to decline. Hormones control the entire chemistry of the body. A decline in hormones such as testosterone, thyroid, DHEA and growth hormone cause symptoms to appear such as, mild to moderate depression, drop in energy and mental sharpness, decreased muscle and increased belly fat and a drop off in sex drive. It may well be hormone change and subsequent symptoms that cause a man to fight the demons of "the change".

Hearing the phrase "the change" conjures up associations with menopause symptoms associated with declining hormone levels in women. Even the word hormone is most commonly associated as being ‘a women thing.’ While there have been significant studies of the impact of the female hormone estrogen and the process of menopause, much less attention has been paid to the male hormone equivalent testosterone. Fortunately for men, more research is occurring.

Typically observed in a male’s peak earning years, the idea of a midlife crisis (the change) is generally well known. The idea that it may be connected to hormone decline -- a male menopause, also known as andropause is not generally considered. So what is male menopause? Starting in a male’s late twenties and noticeable by age 35, testosterone along with thyroid, DHEA and growth hormone levels decline and cause symptoms often associated with a "midlife crisis". Hormone levels will continue to decline for the rest of his life.

Quoting Dr. Eugene Shippen an innovator in male hormone treatment in addressing the fact that hormones must be taken "for the rest of his life, "This is an issue of prospective. Your father and grandfather had the same problem. You are fortunate to be born in time when you have a choice to fix or not fix the problem. Considering hormone treatment’s positive impact on quality of life, this is a non-decision easily made. Your must fix it"

For years men have been going to their doctor and discussing why they have a low sex drive, low energy, weight gain, irritability, depression, hot flashes and more. These symptoms are often considered individual and unrelated, however as male hormone research progresses the connection between these symptoms and declining male hormone levels is being realized.

Male v. Female Menopause:
Most people have a lose understanding of the menopause process for women and the symptoms associated with it. This is the result of decade’s worth of research and data. Today we now know that every living being, male and female, human or animal, is governed by hormones. A women’s menopause is different than a man’s because the decrease in hormone levels happen more suddenly and also occur later in life. A male’s hormones may decline more gradually over time, but is just as real.

Did you know: Testosterone and estrogen levels are inversely proportional. As male testosterone levels decline, estrogen levels tend to increase. A classic example of this is acquired weight in the stomach area, also known as a "beer belly."

Overcoming a Midlife Crisis "the change" with Hormones:
Most people can think of at least one example of knowing a man going through a midlife crisis. What is happening is a man fighting the fact that he is getting older. Fighting the symptom of andropause, he tries to get his youth back. While this may cause a temporary high, the actions he takes will be short lived because the hormones and the daily feeling of irritability, depression, fatigue, hot flashes and decreased libido do not go away unless you treat the source, the hormones.

Where to Begin:
Testing hormone levels such as testosterone, thyroid, DHEA and growth hormone from a male hormone doctor is the first step. If the test shows that you have low hormone levels your doctor can recommend a customized male hormone treatment program that will safely restore your hormones back to healthy levels.
Jim Michels is an expert on testosterone treatment. For over ten years his company, reNEW MAN has focuses on low testosterone level treatment through creams and testosterone injections for men.

Situation Shifts Through Prayer

by Colleen C. , Ontario, Canada

I live in northern Ontario. Recently, we had a very large forest fire that was burning out of control and was very close to the centre of the city. We also had high winds that were pushing the fire toward the city. I called KCM for prayer. They prayed for the city, my property and the firefighters who were fighting the fire.
A prayer partner called my home the next day to say that they were praying and they would continue to hold us up in prayer through the next week. Within a couple of hours the winds stopped and cooler weather and rain began. Within a week the fire was being listed as "held" and the people who had homes/cottages within the fire perimeter were slowly allowed back onto their properties. Thank you so much for your prayers and faithfulness. They provided peace and comfort during a difficult time. I also know that it was because of this prayer that the situation turned around for the good.

Finding Purpose In Life

By: Carla Khabbaz
Your Own Worst Enemy

It can be hard to realize that you are sabotaging yourself as you try to achieve the life goals that you aspire to. However, self-sabotage is one of the more common habits that we engage in, and without even realizing that we are undermining our own power.

Understanding why you do this can help you to face the fears that keep you from finding purpose in life. When you second-guess what you want, or allow others to direct your actions, you are giving in to fear and giving your power away. Realizing that you are truly the architect of your own destiny can help you to break through the judgment of others and take responsibility for the direction of your life’s path.

Facing Fear

Many of the obstacles that you encounter are the result of fear, which holds you back from achieving your desires. Facing this is one of the most difficult parts of empowerment, but it is also the key to empowering yourself.

So often, when we face fear, our initial reaction is denial, as this can seem like the easiest course of action. But when we do this, we are giving our power away, because we are not acting, but merely re-acting. It is only by acting, and by facing fear with courage, that you can overcome life’s biggest obstacles.

Other People

One of the biggest obstacles that fear creates is self-doubt. This can manifest in your reactions to the judgment of others, especially when you change your goals because of what someone else thinks. It is possible to acknowledge what another person feels without letting it rule you, and derail your long-term goals. Take in the advice of other persons whom you trust, and thank them for their input, but do not give others the power to decide your fate.

Taking The Step

Starting your journey to purpose really can be the most difficult part of self-discovery and realizing your dreams. When you have spent so long allowing fear to hold you back, it can be scary to break free, but when you liberate yourself from the bonds of fear and self-doubt that so many impose upon ourselves, the possibilities are truly endless. It is an exciting, overwhelming, and even, sometimes, a scary feeling unto itself. But it’s worth it when you are finally able to take control and make the choice of where you want to go in your life.
I am a professional certified life coach in Denver specializing in Personal Leadership and Life Transition. My intention is to help YOU become the Director of Potential and Possibility in YOUR life.

The Rock Almighty Devotional, Praise And Worship With Halford

Acknowledge God

Adapted from the resource Power Thoughts Devotional - by Joyce MeyerIt is so easy to start making a plan instead of waiting on God to give us His plan. Sometimes we are so entrenched in our own plans that we don’t even sense the leading of the Holy Spirit.
But the proverb says to acknowledge God in all our ways, and that means to care about what He thinks and submit our plans to Him for approval.
Having a plan is not a bad thing, but we can simply say to God each day, “Lord, I have a plan for today, but I acknowledge You in it. And if You don’t approve of any part of it, then I am willing to change and do what You want.”
If you truly care about what God desires, He will direct you in the way you should go if any changes need to be made to your plans.
Prayer Starter: Father, I lift my plans up to You for this day. Please lead me by Your Spirit and direct me in the way I should go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
