Minding Your Business-Do’s and Don'ts when sending email

Presented On US Sports Net By Yahoo Small Business!
By: William Hausman

The most important thing is get straight to the point. If you can say the same thing with less words then do it. Using bullet points when appropriate is a good way to achieve this. Never have too many words in one area and develop an eye for the right amount of spacing. A good way to test these concepts is by finding someone that has no idea what email your creating. Tell them they need to gather as much information as they can very quickly. Show the participant the email for 2 seconds then minimize it. Ask them what the email was trying to convey. If they can answer then you’ve done a good job.

A common tactic is to include a sense of urgency. This is where the infamous "expiration date" shows its horns. There is always a deadline because most people are procrastinators! If there wasn’t the expiration date or the limited time sale then everyone would just put it off for another day. Make sure your readers see the message so include it more than once.

Never abuse your email list by overwhelming your following with constant email blasts. It’s good to remind people of your presence but overdoing it will cause people to unsubscribe.

People love images, so that means use a ton of them in my template right? Wrong. In any email browser images are set to not be displayed by default. Either the user needs to allow images to be displayed every time an email is opened or change the default settings.

So what does this mean? Your email needs to still look presentable and functional without the help of images. This can be a bit discouraging but luckily the power of font style and color coordination is immense. Keep your color scheme for graphics and text to 2-4 colors. It’s important your color scheme flows and looks coordinated. Google ‘color scheme generator’ and the first link is an amazing tool for showing off this concept.

You also want deep contrast of dark/light if you place text over a colored background. This will make your text pop so it’s clearly readable. Text over a very dark background should usually be white. Don’t forget to vary the size of your font sizes. Very important points should be larger text size than less important ones. This also adds depth to your email and makes it easier to skim over.

Follow these guidelines and your email marketing campaign should be a success.

Dave ChristensenNon-Coaching Consultant - Arizona State University
Coach Christensen is the current Offensive Line coach at Arizona State University.  Before ASU Coach Christensen joined Texas A&M's staff in January 2015 to coach offensive line and oversee the running game. A veteran of 33 seasons as a collegiate coach, Christensen came to Texas A&M from the University of Utah, where he helped the Utes to a 9-4 record and a bowl win in his lone season in Salt Lake City. Previously, Christensen was the head coach at the University of Wyoming from 2009-13 and also a longtime offensive assistant under Gary Pinkel at Missouri and Toledo. Serving as Utah’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, Christensen helped the Utes to a four-win improvement while orchestrating a balanced offensive attack that averaged more than 190 rushing and passing yards per game. From 2009-13, Christensen was the head coach at Wyoming where he compiled a 27-35 record in five seasons. In 2009, Christensen became the first Cowboy head coach to win a bowl game in his debut season when he led Wyoming to a 35- 28 win over Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl. Two years later, Christensen was named the 2011 Mountain West Coach of the Year after the Cowboys compiled an 8-5 overall record, including a 5-2 record against MWC opponents. He became a head coach after serving 17 years as an assistant for Pinkel at Toledo (1992-2000) and Missouri (2001-08). Christensen coached the offensive line at both schools and was the offensive coordinator from 1997-2008, including his entire stay at Missouri. Christensen devised and implemented one of college football’s most exciting no-huddle, spread offenses at Mizzou, where he was named the 2007 National Offensive Coordinator of the Year by Rivals.com and was runner-up for the 2007 Frank Broyles Award, honoring the nation’s top assistant coach. Missouri played in the Big 12 Championship game in both 2007 and 2008 as the champion of the Big 12 North. Missouri finished the 2007 season with a No. 4 Associated Press ranking and Christensen’s offense ranked No. 5 in the nation in total offense (490.3 yards per game), No. 8 in scoring offense (39.9) and No. 9 in passing offense (314.1). Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting in 2007, when Christensen’s offense scored a school-record 558 points, far surpassing the previous Missouri single-season record of 399 points. In 2008, the Tigers finished fourth in the nation in passing offense (330.4 yards per game), No. 6 in scoring offense (42.2) and No. 8 in total offense (484.1). The Tigers were nationally ranked offensively throughout Christensen’s tenure as the offensive coordinator, which followed a successful stint at Toledo. During his nine years as a Toledo assistant (the last four as the offensive coordinator), the Rockets set numerous school records on offense while winning one Mid-American Conference championship and two MAC West titles (tying for another). Christensen also served assistant coaching stints at Western Washington (1983), Eastern Washington (1986-87), Washington (1988-89, graduate assistant) and Idaho State (1990-91).

BEGINNERS’ BASIC GYM ETIQUETTE

Presented on US Sports Net by BPI Sports!

RULE #1 – BRING A GYM TOWEL

Sweating is great for you, but no one else wants your sweat on their body. Carry a towel with you everywhere and make sure to wipe up the sweat you leave behind.

RULE #2 – DON’T “RESERVE” EQUIPMENT

Unless you have your own private gym, you’re going to have to share the equipment. Refrain from leaving a personal item on something you aren’t using, and simply work in with others who might need it.

RULE #3 – DON’T REST ON EQUIPMENT OTHERS ARE WAITING FOR

Same premise as the last rule: be conscious of others working out around you. If someone is waiting to use the machine you’re using, step aside between sets to rest and let them work in with you.

RULE #4 – CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF

This is one of the fundamentals of gym etiquette. Doing kettle bell swings? Chest press with dumbbells? Barbell curls? No matter what you’re using to work out, make sure to put it back where you found it. That goes for plates as well. When you’re finished with your set, re-rack your weights. Leaving it for the next person takes time out of their workout.

RULE #5 – GIVE PEOPLE SPACE

If you grab a pair of dumbbells off the rack, be sure to step far enough away from the rack that someone else that wants dumbbells has access. Also, be mindful of others and their exercises. Don’t walk directly behind someone doing deadlifts. Don’t walk directly in front of someone doing front raises. No one wants to bump into you and you probably don’t want a dumbbell to the face.

RULE #6 – DON’T BLOCK SOMEONE’S VIEW OF THE MIRROR

Again, be aware of people’s bubble. There’s a reason gyms are covered in mirrors – people like to watch themselves work out. So if you see someone watching their reflection, don’t block their view. If you have to walk in front of them, do it quickly.

RULE #7 – DON’T DO CURLS IN THE SQUAT RACK

It’s truly a shame that we even have to include this, yet, as comical as it sounds, people actually do this. As the name implies, the squat rack is for squatting. Other acceptable exercises are overhead presses and benching, but NEVER curls. Curls can be done anywhere, whereas squats are typically only done in the squat rack. If a regular catches you making this rookie move, you’re almost guaranteed to get called out.

RULE #8 – RESPECT HEADPHONES

Unless you need to ask someone a question about sharing equipment or warn them that the building is burning down, don’t make them take their headphones off to talk to you. The gym is first and foremost a place to work, not socialize, and chances are, the headphones are a blatant “do not disturb” sign.
There you have it. Eight basic rules of gym etiquette. Follow these guidelines and you can enter any gym with confidence. Not familiar with some of the terms in this blog? Check out our Gym Glossary, another great resource for beginners.

Healing Cancer Naturally Featuring: 7 2 Wakeup Call - Dr. Howard Cohn - Advantages of Alkaline Diet - Secrets to 7.2 Alkaline Health

In this revolutionary video "7 2 Wakeup Call", Dr. Howard Cohn discusses the Advantages of Alkaline Diet as well as Secrets to attaining 7.2 Alkaline Health. . Howard Cohn a board certified chiropractor and cofounder of Seven Point 2 a premium grade nutritional supplements company. Seven Point 2 focuses on providing whole food based nutritional products with an ideal "7.2 pH".
7.2 pH is the optimal pH on the alkaline - acid pH scale for the human body. It is commonly known in the holistic healing world that virtually all diseases and sicknesses even cancer. heart attack and stroke are connected to an overly acidic pH in the body. Traditionally the best course of action in reversing an overly acidic person suffering from acidosis is to a strict alkaline pH diet transformation. Unfortunately this traditional diet transformation frequently fails not because of the diet because of the person giving up and going back to the foods they love. The inherent limitation with a strict alkaline diet is the apparent lack of savory and delectable enjoyable foods and recipes. There is a huge disconnect between what is proven to be one of the best disease fighters known to man that being a 7.2 pH alkaline state - and the desire for an overly acidic person to stick to the unforgiving diet regimens required. Dr. Howard Cohn has indeed made a huge step forward with his visionary company by offering a line of nutritional supplements that promote the perfect 7.2 pH alkaline state in the body. In this eye-opening video entitled the "7.2 wake-up call", Dr. Howard Cohn discusses this remarkable line of acidosis reversing 7.2 pH whole food supplements. Glen B Stewart a globally acclaimed holistic researcher, personally endorses this line of products so much so that he became a spokesman for the "7.2 pH revolution" as he calls it. Anyone wishing to know more about this evolutionary "7.2 pH" product line can e-mail Glen B. Stewart directly at: 7.2phshow @ gmail.com

Good Cops, Great Cops-Woman Who Helped Cops Stage Murder Scene: ‘I Was Crying and Upset’ and Top Questions about Abusive Relationships

Meghan Verikas worked with cops to stage a crime scene after learning that her ex-boyfriend had allegedly hired a hitman to murder her last year. Verikas is now testifying in a trial against her ex, Houston surgeon Dr. Leon Jacob. Prosecutors say Dr. Jacob approached a decorated U.S. Army veteran, Moataz Azzeh, and offered $20,000 and two luxury watches to make her "go away forever.” The ex-soldier later worked with police to build the case against Dr. Jacob. Top Questions about Abusive Relationships
By: Meghan Jones

It’s very difficult to identify a relationship that is abusive. We often tend to neglect or fail to understand the signs of abuse until one day it’s too late. Verbal and physical abuse most commonly occur in a relationship and most of the time the victims choose to stay quiet due to fear or other reasons such as insecurity or just ignorance of their legal rights. There are several questions that arise as a result. Below are the most commonly asked questions online:

Q. Can an abusive relationship cause physiological problems?

Physiological problems can arise if a relationship is abusive and is not detected early. These problems have to be dealt with in a healthy and healing way. Verbal and emotional abuse can be as traumatic as physical violence and may lead to many physiological problems. Emotional counseling can be a great healing option and can help an individual overcome the pain and trauma.

Q. How can an individual help his/her friend who is a victim of mental abuse and yet refuses to get out of the relationship?

You can contact the local services agency and they can help the individual. With the right kind of help, you can save a friend’s life. You can only guide a friend to the trained abuse professionals and hope that they get all the help they need. Even as an onlooker or a bystander, watching someone suffer in an abusive relationship can be very upsetting. The best thing to do is to consult a good lawyer and seek legal help.

Q. Can a victim of abusive relationship get a restraining order to freeze the marital assets kept in a bank, if he / she is planning to leave that relationship?

Both partners have equal rights if assets are in both their names. The bank generally provides an extra key when the safety deposit is in the name of both the partners. But if it’s in the name of only one partner then the safety deposit box can be accessed only by that partner. If that's the case, the other partner can ask for a court order to prevent the misuse, disposal or damage to the assets. This court order can help an individual protect his/her assets until some kind of property settlement has been decided upon. If the individual still feels unsafe and threatened by the abusive partner, he/she may also request for a protective order. This will keep the abusive spouse away till the court has taken a final decision in the case.

Q. As a parent, how to find a psychiatrist for an adult child that has been a victim of physical and emotional abuse and who has also been suffering from Stockholm syndrome?

Contacting the Local National Alliance for Mental Health would be the first step. To find the local office, the individual can visit the website www.nami.org. The individual will also find a number of support services and contact details including references of good psychiatrists on this website. There are several ongoing domestic violence support groups too that will help and assist the individual to deal with his/her situation.

Q. If someone is accused of domestic abuse and has been served with an order of protection, will they try to get a plenary order at the next hearing and if so, is a court appearance needed?

Any orders of protection, including a plenary, can be given by the judge ex parte. This means that the judge can pass a protection or plenary order even if the respondent is not present. When the individual is present in a court’s hearing, the judge gives him/her a chance to explain his/her side of the story. But if the individual is not present, then the court hears only the partner’s or spouse’s story. This could influence the court to such an extent that the judge might pass a judgment that is not in favor of the individual and might hurt the individual later. So there are chances of losing everything if he/she abstains from a court hearing.

We must be sensitive to the signs of a abusive relationships. It is also important to watch and hear the victims. An abusive relationship not just affects the two partners involved but even their children, families and close friends. However, help is available for victims, be it medical, psychological or legal.

Joel Osteen Recent Messages Featuring: Victoria Osteen - Protect Your Heart from Offense

Proverbs 17:9 says, “He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love.” You have to cover that offense. You have to forgive. It doesn’t belong to you. It didn’t originate with you. That offense came from that situation. It belongs to that person. It is not yours unless you take it in. It is only yours to forgive and to cover. The Scripture doesn’t say that offenses won’t come, but it tells us how to deal with an offense—cover it and forgive. The choice is ours. We can either seek and go after love or we can go after the offense.[Video Below] This is message #769, "Protect Your Heart from Offenses", by Victoria Osteen. Don’t Give Your Joy Away

Post by Joel Osteen on July 27, 2018

A while ago, I was running a bit late as I was driving to the office for a meeting when I hit one delay after another. I could feel myself getting uptight even as I was reminded that the Scripture says, "No man can take your joy" (John 16:22). That means you control your joy. Nothing can take it from you; you have to give it away. I made it to the church about ten minutes late only to discover that I hadn't brought my key fob to get in the door. I knocked and nobody answered. I called a staff member, but no answer. I called another, no answer; another, no answer. It was hot outside. By the time I got in, I was drenched with sweat.

Later that night, I visited a man in the hospital who's in a serious battle with cancer. On the way out I prayed with several other families that had loved ones where it didn't look good. I left there with a different perspective. I had been frustrated that day by small things I realized weren't worth losing my joy over. I wasn't fighting for my life or believing for a loved one to make it. It's easy to let the small things keep you from seeing the gift of this day.
The Scripture says, "Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vine, though the olive crops have failed and the fields have produced no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet will I rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in the God of my salvation" (Habakkuk 3:17–18). He could have said, "All these bad breaks make me discouraged and sour." No, his attitude was, "I'm not giving away my joy. I'm going to rejoice in the God of my salvation." Salvation means "deliverance." When you stay full of joy despite what's come against you, God says that salvation is coming, breakthroughs are coming, healing is coming, increase is coming.
I wonder if you're doing like I did, letting insignificant things—your grouchy boss, the person talking behind your back, your child getting on your nerves—steal your joy. Life is going to throw you curves. There will be disappointments and things that aren't fair. Make this decision every morning, "I will be joyful today." When you're tempted to get upset, remind yourself that you have the power to remain calm. Keep your joy. This day is a gift. Honor God by living it with a grateful heart and to the full.

Minding Your Business-Twitter prefers short URLs

Presented on US Sports Net By Yahoo Small Business!
By: Vladimir Vyatkin

Let's face it - the shorter and easier a website address (or URL = Uniform Resource Locator) is to type the more likely people will find it easily. If you have a website with a long URL like "theunreasonablyverylongebsiteaddress.co.tz" the chances of getting anyone to type that out correctly is remote.

It will be far easier to ask them to type something like shorturl.com. Also if you are sending your website out on Twitter for example or wish to use AdWords the advantages are obvious. (Twitter severely limits the number of characters that may be used on a Tweet).

The short URL is usually registered in a country such a Tonga (.to) or Tuvalu (.tv) which don't require domicile to use their countries extension. They redirect from the short URL to the underlying URL address.

It is also often useful to disguise or hide the underlying URL address. This may be for perfectly legal business reasons but one must be careful. Some of these sites become blacklisted or put on spam blacklists. Some websites prevent redirected URLs from being posted because they are often used by websites trying to bypass a blacklist they have already been placed on.

These shortened URLs usually use a foreign extension as some domain names are under the jurisdiction of that nation.

But there are other advantages of using a short URL or URL shortening services. They give full details of the traffic that these short URLs receive and redirect which enables one to target the advertising ever and ever more efficiently.

There is also a service that advertises your now shortened domain name (URL) on a whole series of the internet classified advertisements with no charge to yourself. All you have to do is subscribe to their service and they will do it for you. These free services are a fantastic offer as getting classified ads in places take quite a lot of effort.

For a start the ad has to be composed and then the headline has to be written. Then one must compose a list of keywords and test them out to make sure that they will in fact attract visitors to your site.

Keywords are of course key to this whole process. Get the keywords right and your website will get displayed. But of course before it does get displayed the search engine crawlers have to find it and rate it.

The following increases your ratings:

* Relevance: the website must relate to the item (keyword) being searched for.
* Links: search engines give a lot of weight to the number of "quality" links to your website.
* Fresh content. If the crawlers don't find new content often the site might become stale and drop in ratings (and of course number of times displayed).

The search engines penalize keyword stuffing, lack of relevance and poor grammar.

Using a short URL service is very important if you want to "tweet". All the other advantages are nice bonuses.

Classified Ads Submission Freeware helps any website get themselves noticed on the Internet and will get traffic to their site.

FIVE TIPS FROM GUS MALZAHN ON HOW TO BUILD YOUR PLAYBOOK

Coaching football is hard enough as it is, so the last thing you need is a bunch of complex verbiage that makes it more difficult to teach your players your scheme and to make adjustments within that scheme as the game goes along.
This is especially true if you make your living as a high speed no-huddle offense.
Plenty of coaches out there spend a lot of time thinking about which plays they’ll be running and how to coach up a certain route or blocking assignment, but a lot of times they miss opportunities to make the learning process a lot less complicated for their kids, and as a result they’re not as effective as coaches as they could be.
Gus Malzahn understood a long time ago that the faster and more efficiently a player processes information, the better he’ll play, and so he put a lot of thought into the best ways to put together his scheme as well as the best way to teach it.
Malzahn talks about “choosing a theme” for your offense in this video, and in this post we’ll talk about, and expand upon, the points he brings up.

1. The theme needs to be simple for the players to remember and to relate to.

In other words, it’s probably not a good idea for you to fill up your playbook with calculus or chemistry terms.
You should strive to incorporate verbiage that your players use or are aware of in their everyday lives. You might think that naming your run concepts after characters from the Brady Bunch is a great idea, but let me save you some time: don’t.

2. You need a word association that is easy for your players to understand and remember.

Building on the previous point, the best way for your players to memorize and then recall your system is for them to be able to associate a theme with another idea.
As Malzahn says, things like state capitols or NFL teams are always a great idea, because not only are they terms that have a natural association to one another, but they’re also terms that your players will have heard many, many times and will have a much easier time recalling them during a game.

3. The words need a relationship in order for play action passes to compliment the run plays.

The “relationship” part of this is key. Our brains form much stronger memories about something when that memory is attached to something we already know very well. It’s much harder to remember a long list of unconnected terms and phrases.
You may know the terms PowerCounter, and Zone extremely well, but most of your players probably won’t, at least not to the degree you do. You need to find words that all relate to one another and
46/47 Power – “Moses”
46/47 Power Pass – “Egypt”
Association: Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt
You can take this approach even further to add related terms for screens, trick plays, etc.

4. The theme must allow the verbal command to be interpreted with physical motion by the signaler.

You can have the best idea in the world for your terminology, but if you don’t have a way to get the information to your players on the field using signals, then it’s useless.
Make sure that whatever terms you decide on can be reasonably paired up with some kind of physical signal that is easy to see from far away, since you’ll often have to signal to your offense in the red zone, or to your players lined up near the opposite sideline.

5. The theme must be flexible enough to expand in the future if necessary.

This is a key point and is something that’s often overlooked by coaches.
You can do all the preparation and scouting you want in the offseason, but there will always be things you didn’t anticipate or haven’t seen before, so you need to have a philosophy and style that is flexible enough to adapt to changing circumstances.

DR. O: HOW DOES INSULIN AFFECT A KETO DIET?

Presented on US Sports Net By BPI Sports!

James Grage: I tell people this, but coming from an expert, coming from a doctor, it gives it a lot more credibility: your weight loss benefits, your fat loss benefits, aren’t coming from the ketones, they’re coming from being in a low-carb state.
Dr. Brett Osborn: James, let me interrupt you for one second. Let’s distill that down even further. It’s really about the insulin signaling. I don’t even care about the carbohydrates. If you are in a low-carb state, you are in a low-insulin state, and when you’re in a low-insulin state, that’s what’s going to confer health and longevity. Period. These diseases – stroke, heart attack, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, arthritis – they’re all the byproduct of a high-insulin state, which is an inflammatory state. You can call them whatever you want. In my mind, all of these diseases are the same disease.
James: Not from a health perspective, but from a body composition perspective, explain to people how insulin works. When your insulin levels are high, what’s happening? Let’s say, for example, that I eat a meal that is high in dietary fat and high in sugar. I get this insulin response, so explain to people what insulin actually does.
Dr. O: Insulin is a vascular protectant as far as I’m concerned. High levels of insulin tell the body, “Bring sugar in to the cells and utilize it for energy.” Any excess is stored as fat. Insulin is an anabolic hormone – it builds muscle and it builds fat. In America, we live with high simple carbohydrate consumption, high levels of insulin, and by virtue of that, anything that is excessive will be stored as fat. Under the influence of insulin, excess carbohydrates are stored as fat.
James: Someone described insulin to me once simply as the storage hormone.
Dr. O: It is the storage hormone.
James: So bodybuilders praise insulin for its anabolic properties as a signal. Or on the flip side, it’s also what can make us gain fat.
Dr. O: The bottom line is that it’s an anabolic hormone, it’s a storage hormone, but the problem is that in America, we are exposed to heightened levels of insulin, excess insulin. However, it’s not the insulin itself that is the offender. It’s really the excess simple carbohydrate consumption that does the damage. When you eat a simple carbohydrate, and your blood sugar spikes through the roof, the sugar is basically scraping the lining of your blood vessels as it travels to your brain. When there’s damage to the inside of the blood vessels, there’s inflammation, and when there’s inflammation, there’s a response that’s mounted and the upshot of that response is cholesterol deposition in the lining of the arteries. And as you keep eating all these sugars, the high levels of insulin keep telling the body, “Hey, get the sugar inside the cell! Clear it from the blood vessels! Bring it in!” What ends up happening is that you overload the system.
James: It almost becomes white noise.
Dr. O: That’s exactly right. When you have high levels of sugar in the bloodstream because you’ve developed insulin resistance, and you have this circulating growth factor sitting there (insulin – it’s the storage hormone, it grows things), not only does it grow fat, it’s growing cancers. Let me tell you something. When you have a PET scan, the test that searches for cancer in the body, it’s a radionucleotide test. So you inject a radiolabeled molecule and that molecule goes to the cancers. What do you think the radiolabeled molecule is that we inject? We inject glucose. So when you live in a low-glucose state, a low-insulin state, you are basically anti-cancer-ing yourself. Cancer cells do not use fat for energy.
James: So on a high-carb diet, you’re potentially feeding disease.
Dr. O: Not potentially. With 100% certainty, you are feeding disease. So do the opposite. Live in a low-insulin, low-carb state. I’m not saying starve yourself. Does your body think it’s starving on an Atkins diet or a modified ketogenic diet? Yes. Because you are in a low-insulin state. When you are starved, you are in a low-insulin state.
James: So does it always feel that way? Or at some point does your body adapt to it?
Dr. O: Hold on. It doesn’t feel that way, but it is that way. So in other words, you don’t feel like, “Oh my God, I’m starving!” As a matter of fact, patients on a keto diet have a suppressed appetite. I don’t like it. It’s almost to the point where I have to tell them, “You better eat otherwise you’re going to sacrifice some muscle.” So we want to keep people in a low-insulin state, but they have a satiety signal.
