Daniel Rohaly - Water Polo Recruiting Highlight Video for 2018 or 2019 and Water Polo Goalkeeping: Skills, Drills, and Angles

I started playing water polo 9 years ago and before that I usually took swimming lessons to be able to start this sport. I choose water polo because of the success of the Hungarian national team at the 2004 Olympics. I am currently playing at OSC but my first team was Honvéd one of the most known teams in Hungary. I only played for this two teams during my career. I want to study at The United States because of the quality of the schools and because of the opportunity to continue the sport that gave me so much things I can be proud of. I want to study sport management because I want to stay around sports all my life and I want to help water polo became a well known and loved sport like ice hockey and handball. Diving Recruiting Video - Class of 2019 and The Mentally Tough Athlete

My name is Evie Geier and I am a junior at the International School of Indiana. I am also a club diver for the Indiana International School of Diving under Dave McKown.

The Mentally Tough Athlete
By: Spencer Wood

‘Mental toughness’ is like good food or good weather – it often means many different things to many different people. Like ‘mental training,’ ‘peak performance training,’ and ‘sports psychology,’ the words and pictures that these terms connote are incredibly diverse. Despite the broad range of definitions, most coaches and athletes alike agree that a fairly common definition is the athlete who is able to compete to their full potential in the big games that count the most – namely the playoffs – regardless of the distractions they may encounter. Sounds fairly easy, doesn’t it? But when we consider a full post-season game, chock full of opponent intimidation, fan noise, external pressures, heightened media attention, clutch situations (that demand clutch focus and composure), not to mention the fear of injury due to elevated playoff aggression, mental toughness for many individuals and teams and athletes is a little more elusive.

Great coaches and players understand the importance of mental toughness all too well. Indeed, in the midst of collegiate national championship, WNBA and NBA championship euphoria, sports writers and anchors across America collectively want to ask each of the winning coaches a myriad of different questions. But among these questions, one common question always seems to emerge: "Tell us about what got you here coach?" And as each coach gushes with admiration for their team, the most consistently mentioned attribute is that special character trait known as mental toughness.

Pursuing mental toughness… The pursuit of mental toughness should be viewed in a similar manner to the pursuit of that ‘perfect practice.’ Almost every coach understands that in the history of sports, there has never been a ‘perfect practice.’ Many teams have at times been close, but it is the process of aggressively pursuing perfect practices that wins championships. Developing mental toughness should not be viewed any differently. Above all, developing mental toughness is a continuous process that takes both time and dedication. The great teams and great athletes spend many seasons developing this all-important athletic trait. Let us take a brief snapshot of a world renowned athlete to illustrate this point. While Lebron James is not viewed by many to be the single best scorer in the NBA, nor the best passer, defensive player, or rebounder; at the tender age of 21, Lebron is already considered by many to be the best All Around Player in the game today. He is unquestionably one of the most exciting and talented players in the world, and if he continues to stay healthy he will no doubt continue to churn out Top 10 Plays of the Week with the regularity of another player who used to where #23. However, the question on the minds of some of the NBA’s most respective pundits has less to do with individual output and stats, and more to do with Lebron’s overall Mental Toughness and the degree to which his toughness will translate into golden orbed trophies and diamond studded rings – in short, NBA championships.

Nicholas Taylor - College Water Polo Recruiting Video (Class of 2019) and Above Ground Pools: All the Fun with Less Work

[Video below]-Junior Year Highlights

Above Ground Pools: All the Fun with Less Work

By: Jeremy Smith

Make the most of an above ground pool this summer. Never judge a pool by its size or height; an above ground backyard pool is simple to clean and easy to enjoy. Consider automatic pool cleaners to make life easier, and a floating chlorinator to leave in the water overnight. An above ground pool can be lots of fun and simple to care for with the right supplies.

Pool toys are a must for a fun summer in the backyard. Inflatable beach balls are ideal for simple games of catch; adding a net should up the stakes and multiply the fun from there. Water polo nets, floating basketball nets or mounted nets with backboards, and volleyball nets that cross the pool can get a whole group excited about playing watersports together in the pool. If keeping it simple sounds better, consider a football or soft Frisbee for a good old-fashioned game of catch.

Other games can be enjoyed in and under the water. There are lots of weighted toys available to help kids practice diving and swimming underwater. A set of diving weights or rings with point values can turn swimming practice into a competitive and fun game. Some weighted toys are even designed to be thrown from underwater, like torpedoes or submarines, and are great for helping kids practice holding their breath and opening their eyes underwater. There are also plenty of battery-operated toys that swim like real sea creatures. Use them to turn a simple backyard pool into an exciting undersea adventure.

If relaxing quietly in the pool sounds more just right, there is no end to the number and types of rafts and floats to pick from. Float the day away in any number of inflatable personal clouds: inner tubes, blow-up chairs, lounge floats, or a pool hammock. Foam noodles and other foam toys are inexpensive, and can also be used to stand in for rafts and hammocks. Let automatic pool cleaners do all of the hard work and just float the day away in peace.

Potential owners should not underestimate the health benefits of having a backyard pool. Swimming laps may not be an option in an above ground pool, but water fitness is. Consider exercising in the water for a healthy, low-impact workout using the water's natural resistance. Buying a water exercise equipment kit consisting of ankle weights, a weight belt, and some hand weights can really make the most of an aquatic aerobics exercise routine.

A pool is a fine excuse to throw a fun summer party. Try incorporating games for all ages, like a wet shirt relay in teams, competitive prize-diving with weighted toys, or games like volleyball that everyone can enjoy together. Let those automatic pool cleaners do all of the work before the party so the hosts and guests can spend the most time relaxing together.

Bells Beach, Victoria –Australia - Event Rip Curl Pro

On the Southern Coast of Australia this spot is an excellent place to take in the surf competition the weather is idealperfect for the tourist. The event takes place in and around Torquay, Victoria which is a town of significant residential areas built up over the last 50 years.

Santa Catarina, Brazil – Santa Catarina Pro

The competition will be held at the beach of Florianopolis which is believed to have the most consistent waves in the region and therefore is a brilliant place to hold the competition, this event is sure to draw in massive crowds and a good party.

Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa –Event Billabong Pro

South Africa has long been a destination of choice for surfers across the world, the great weather and surf has meant that people will travel from all over just to surf this spot. The Billabong Pro ASP World Tour is held at Jeffrey’s Bay every July and is a huge worldwide event.

Teahupoo,Taiarapu-Tahiti – Event Billabong Pro Teahupoo

The event takes place in Teahupoo and the waves are formed by a reef which the surfers drop in over. The reef is off the south-west of Tahiti, it has produced some of the biggest waves in the world and the record for biggest wave ever ridden took place there.

Trestles,California-USA – Event Hurley Pro

California has a huge history of surfing and it would be wrong to have a surfing tour without at least one stop there. The event is held in the Lower Trestles part of these great surfing spots because of the most consistent waves, the event draws huge crowds and encourages tourism in this area.

South West Coast-France –Event Quiksilver Pro France

Ahh the first of two surfing events in Europe, this event takes place on the west coast of France, it has good waves and attracts huge crowds of spectators.

Peniche-Portugal – Event Rip Curl Pro

Elected to be included in the 2009 ASP tour by the surfing community this is a new beach for the surfers to get to grips with. The waves reach towering heights and challenge the surfers nerve as much as their skills, making this a spectacular event to watch.

Puerto Rico – Event Rip Curl Search

This event is part of the Rip Curl search that aims to find different locations every year to challenge the surfers abilities to adapt. Of course many of the pro surfers will have surfed pretty much all the top beaches in the world but anything can happen on event day.

Banzai Pipeline,Oahu-Hawaii – Event Billabong Pipe Masters

It would not be a surfing world tour without an event in Hawaii and what an event, the pipe master really sorts the weak from the strong. This competition involves dropping into some of the biggest waves in the world and surfing through the pipe and staying on your board becomes all the more important because of the unforgiving reef beneath the waves. The final and most prestigious event of the ASP Tour is always well attended and is a true spectacle.

Swimming Pools and Safety

By: Arthur Vitale

If we all make safety our first priority we will have a safe and happy swimming season.

When you have a pool there are a few things to consider. Safety is number one on the list. Drowning children in pools is an unhappy thought but they do happen, even in residential pools. Teaching you kids is not enough, unexpected things happen and they are called accidents. These kinds of accidents can be serious and even life threatening. Be aware that a pool is not only fun but can be dangerous if you do not take the right precautions.

The best thing to do is to arm your pool with safety devices that will prevent any accidents and for added safety include some lifeguard equipment in your pool area. A very handy piece of life saving equipment is a ring buoy. Providing one of these will be great for kids if they have a friend who finds themselves having trouble swimming and there is no adult around. This can be easily tossed in for help. I know it is hard to believe but yes children are left unattended at their home pools. This would be a great way to avoid some bad accident by keeping a close eye on the kids swimming.

Another great addition to around the pool is life preserver. These can be worn by kids or adults who are not the best swimmer but still want to enjoy the pool. You can also by float rings for kids. These are rings that fit snug around the arms to allow for swimming and keep them afloat as well. Be sure that you also post signs around your pool as well. Sign will explain things that can not be done or things that will prevent accidents from happening. A sign letting people know how deep the water is or that there is no diving for example will help a lot. Most places will also have signs telling children not to run. This is a very good rule to enforce. There have been many scrapes, bruises, broken bones and sadly drownings that could have been avoided by not running around a pool. Be sure that if you do have very small children a fence or cover of some style is up when playing outside. These help save lives as well as any lifeguard equipment.

The last important piece of equipment I will recommend is you. One of the best things you can do for the safety of everyone that swims at your pool is take lifeguard lessons. Training on what to do when something does go wrong around the pool will be the best life saving device you own. Knowing how to do CPR goes along with this and could be the best investment you can make. Be sure you also purchase a first aid kit. Place this somewhere close to the pool where everyone can reach it just in case no adults are around and someone get hurt. Teach your kids what to do in case something happens and how to help someone who needs it. Walk them through and show each guest where your first aid kit is and when to use it.

A swimming pool is a big investment, and finding a swimming pool can be scary. Make sure you don't get soaked by using an accredited contractor with a history of good work. A qualified pool builder will help you decide what size and shape of pool would be best for your property and won't leave you feeling soaked before the fun begins.
