Companies have known for years that supporting community efforts can reflect positively on the organization. Our Trailblazers deemed this relationship critical to the success of diversity and inclusion within their businesses, as this involvement drives results in several ways.
Being involved with the community leads to having a better representation of employees that reflect the community. When employees see that their organizations care about the communities in which they live, they are in turn more committed to the organization and more likely to be ambassadors for the company as they interact with their friends, family, and colleagues. Some businesses have very specific community goals, while others support community projects as they surface because they generally see it as the "right thing to do." Trailblazers help their organizations develop and clarify community involvement goals, and then guide their leaders as they support the community agencies and projects that are in alignment with the company’s mission and values. Instead of using the scattered, "here today, gone tomorrow" approach, leaders help their organizations focus their efforts and resources—which creates the ability to measure outcomes and make adjustments where needed. The more an organization can concentrate on its community involvement, the better its results will be. Dr. Tiffany Franks, president of Averett University explained it this way. "Whether it’s conducting research, providing service to nonprofits, working to help those in need and/or serving an internship, it is our community engagement that makes Averett successful in its mission of developing graduates who become catalysts for positive change." Dell contributes in the communities where their employees live and work by developing community programs that promote digital inclusion and close the gap on the digital divide. Having built a global business on improving the effectiveness of written communication, Pitney Bowes has a vital interest in literacy and education. Their leadership believes that, by supporting literacy and education programs, the company can improve countless lives and strengthen the fabric of communities everywhere they are involved. Note that nowhere in these focus statements is there a mention of diversity and inclusion. There is no need, because these are overall business statements where diversity and inclusion is implicit. The Community Model illustrates the critical components of an effective community involvement process. First, the organization must become clear about their brand and their marketplace. This then allows collaboration among business group leaders, and corporate community relations in the goal-setting process. Once goals are set, communication, recognition, and rewards for involvement can be disseminated throughout the organization. When an organization has clear diversity and inclusion goals related to community involvement, its leaders’ and employees’ actions as community volunteers are more likely to elicit tangible results. When people know why they are serving their community—beyond it simply being the "right thing to do"—they’re able to increase their awareness of how they might address community challenges. Several of our Trailblazer companies require senior executives to serve the community, and this accountability is reflected in their salaries and bonuses. This deeper understanding of all of the people who comprise the community allows executives to make more informed decisions regarding how their business impacts the community. Progressive leaders see the payoff that comes with supporting the external community and are clear about the diversity connection. Former American Airlines’ CDO Mike Collins declared, "Because we serve people all over the world, it is imperative that we not only understand differences but also ensure our constituents know that [we’re aware of] their needs. Kirsten Robinson, VP of Human Resources of Ford Motor Company, explained, "Our corporate reputation has been enhanced as a long-time supporter of diversity and the role we play—not only in the communities where we operate, but also the broader global community. It reaffirms Ford’s strong commitment to a better world." When business, education and not-for-profit service organizations work together everyone wins. Make it easy for your staff to become involved with the community, not just during holiday season, but year round. |

Command Enhancement Program with Ron Wolforth
by Texas Baseball Ranch
About this Course
You’ll throw more strikes, with more confidence, in only 21 days. Here’s why command is important. A normal strike can be a fastball up in the zone that the hitter barely misses; you got lucky. But a good strike can be a ball tailing inside that jams him; he had no chance. See the difference? When you’ve got command, you throw good strikes. Discover how to execute your pitches when you want, every time. Because when you can locate your pitches, all kinds of good things happen. You can hit your spots … go deeper into games … and get more wins. The drills and techniques in this online video course and manual make it happen for you. Having this program like having Coach Wolforth sitting next to you on the bench between innings, giving more confidence and better execution. It’s a “must have” for your video success library.

ADVANCED TRAINING TECHNIQUES: TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR SQUAT
Presented On US sports Net By BPI Sports!
James Grage takes us through another Advanced Training Techniques:
Today we’re gonna be talking about the squat. Now, we’ve all been told that the squat is the king of all muscle builders and when we’re talking about building our quads and hamstrings and glutes, this is true – as long as we focus on proper technique.
I’m going to cover things to avoid, common mistakes or bad form, and some tips on how to improve your squat.
First things first, let’s jump into proper body alignment. This is where I see a lot of mistakes in the gym. So, let’s talk from the ground up, starting with your feet. You see all sorts of feet positions: narrow, shoulder-width or even really wide with toes turned out. Here’s the one thing that you want to keep in mind: there’s a difference between squatting for power and squatting to build muscle. So, if you stand with your feet nice and wide with your toes turned out, it’s a very powerful position, but if you’re focusing on building muscle, keep your feet shoulder-width apart with your toes only slightly turned out.
Now let’s move up to your knees. You may have heard the saying, “Don’t let your knees go over your toes.” But how do you do that? If we keep moving up to your hips, or more specifically, your glutes, you want to get your glutes backwards. The reason your knees come over your toes is that you’re squatting straight down. Maybe you’re afraid that you’re going to fall backwards, which is common when you first start squatting. To improve your squat, focus on sticking your butt out and moving it down. This will naturally keep your knees right over your toes.
Next, we move up to the shoulders. Let’s talk about the bar itself. I see a lot of people with the bar too high, sitting on the back of their neck. Instead, let the bar roll back just a little bit so it sits across your traps and your shoulders.
Now for your head. Remember that wherever you look, your body is going to follow. If you look down, your shoulders are going to round down. Focus on keeping your torso nice and upright, and to do that, you have to keep your chin up. Try finding a spot to look at on the wall and keep your eyes on it throughout the squat movement.
One of the easiest ways to improve your squat is to practice without the bar. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and stick your hands straight up over your head. Initiate the squat movement by dropping your butt backwards, then press straight up through your heels. You’ll find that your torso stays nice and upright. If your hands are coming out in front of you, you’re leaning too far forward. Keeping your hands above your head forces you to arch your back slightly. Keep your chin up and drive through your heels.
Last but not least, let’s discuss range of motion. I see a lot of people that only train in a half range of motion. Others may say, “Hey! They’re missing the full range of motion by not coming down to at least parallel!” This is true, however there are two different ways to look at this. In the upper half range of motion, your quads are stronger. In fact, a lot of bodybuilders will train this way because their quads can handle the weight. This will challenge your quads, but you’re not working your glutes and hamstrings as much as you should be. The glutes and the hamstrings are activated when you come down nice and low.
One tip you can do is break your squats up into two different ranges of motion. Start with a lighter, but challenging weight and do half reps from the bottom of the squat movement. When you get down lower, you’re much weaker, so the lighter weight will help encourage better form. Then, put more weight on and do the upper half of the range of motion where you’re stronger.
Start slow, but simply follow these tips to improve your squat.

3 Reasons Why You Would Want a K9 Unit
By: Ray Zamfir
K9 units or dog units are glorified in movies. If you have watched any action movie or series recently where a dangerous and vicious criminal is the on the run from the police, you may have spotted a K9 unit on the chase. As spectacular and intriguing as those chases are, that is not all there is to dog units. You don’t really have to be in the middle of a chase between the police and a fugitive to see dog units in action. In fact, you can have a dog unit at your service if you are struggling to protect the perimeters of your home or workplace.
A lot of people will come up to you and tell you that using dogs to secure your boundaries is too elaborate and old fashioned. This is because people are gradually turning their attention away from man’s best friend and placing their trust in technology. There is no denying the fact that technology has a huge role to play in the private security industry today and in the future. However, you cannot possibly forget how useful guard dogs and their handlers are. The presence of a dog unit can make a world of a difference when it comes to safeguarding your life and assets from criminal attacks. Tactical WorkoutsIt is okay for you to doubt the effectiveness and legitimacy of a dog unit. A lot of people are not familiar with the concept of using dogs to ward off criminal threats. Then again, there are those who are concerned about safety issues associated with a dog unit. "What if the handler loses control and the dog breaks free?" is one of the many questions that make people overlook perks of hiring a dog unit. If you are in the same boat, then here are pieces of information about dog units that will change your mind. 1) Dog Units are Exceptionally Well Trained "Safety comes first" is the motto of every exemplary dog unit. Unlike a lot of so called modern security systems, K9 units will not compromise your security under any circumstances. The people who are appointed as dog handlers are not ordinary men and women who simply have an affinity for dogs. Believe it or not, dog handlers are actually recruited from law enforcement agencies and from the military. State of the art private security companies look to hire former police or army officers who have had years of training and experience handling guard dogs. This is not a job that can be left to the hands of an amateur. Handling guard dogs is an extremely difficult task that requires a great degree of skill. It is not only the dog handlers who are trained. The guard dog themselves undergo rigorous training regimes as well. While the dog handlers are trained to exercise unwavering control over the guard dogs, the canines are trained to be obedient and faithful to their handlers at all times. This incredibly high level of training allows the man and the animal to develop the chemistry required to form a formidable security team. If you do not believe it, then simply talk to a dog handler (provided that you are not scared of the dog he or she is toting around). They will tell you all about the unbelievable amount of work that they and their dogs have put in to deter crime. 2) Dog Units Prevent Crimes from a Mile Away You may have heard security personnel talk about how they can scare away criminals from a mile away. In the case of a dog unit, this is literally true. Statistics suggest that criminals, even the most violent released inmates, are fearful of guard dogs. In other words, if you were a burglar or a robber who was trying to break in to a store, house or an office, then you would most probably change your mind upon seeing a dog unit from a mile away. The dogs in K9 units are specifically trained to be very hostile to criminals. Since they are completely obedient to their dog handlers, they will not pose any threat to you or people around you. These dogs have a particular taste for criminals. With the assistance of their dog handlers, these guard dogs are able to spot criminals and track them down even before the crime is committed. There is no better crime deterrent than a dog unit. If you buy a security system, it can only make you aware of the presence of a criminal. It cannot literally chase away a criminal now, can’t it? But a guard dog is born to strike fear in the hearts of criminals, so that they do not even think about robbing or vandalizing your house. 3) Dog Units Are Cost Effective If you want static guards to offer you the same level of protection that a dog unit does, then you would need to hire at least five to six different static guards. Hiring that many static guards would drain a lot of money out of your pockets, something that you surely do not want to see happen under the current economic circumstances. Even if you hire six guards, they would not be able to frighten away criminals and deter crime like a dog unit would. Dog units are thus the smarter choice, because they are evidently more cost effective. With a dog unit, you are paying an affordable price for state of the art security. The combination of a single dog handler with a single guard dog is a strong enough security team to let you reside in your home or work in your office without the fear of being attacked by deadly criminals. Creflo Dollar Ministries Featuring: "Attacked by a Demon" Coming Up on Your World and RELATIONSHIPS BLESSED WITH GOD’S WISDOM
It is an understood part of life that we all struggle now and again. Not everyone will deal with the same issues, but having trials is just part of living. Peer pressure, relational difficulties, financial strain, disease, and even death... every single one of these is normal to face. But how do we know if what we are struggling with is just the way of the world... or if it’s a demonic presence? How do we know if our trials have a supernatural influence aimed at stealing our happiness, our success, and our relationship with God? On this show, we’re going to speak with a young woman whose past is full of despair and destruction. The violent acts she witnessed as a child in Liberia were only the beginning for her. Now, her life in America seems to be falling apart just as surely, and she is adamant that there is a supernatural presence that is determined to keep her from finding peace. Can Pastor Dollar help her face the trauma of her childhood and get rid of the oppressive spirit that may be keeping her from moving forward in her life? [Video Below]
Happy relationships make life sweet, but not everyone knows how to establish and maintain them. When we look around us, sometimes good role models can be hard to find, and some of the relationships we see aren’t the healthy kind we’d want to duplicate. Just because people live together under the same roof doesn’t mean they automatically get along. It’s no accident that solid, stable relationships that endure are biblically-based.
By purposefully studying relationships that edify and encourage everyone involved, we can learn from them and apply what we learn. This is one way to gain wisdom about constructive and destructive family dynamics, and how they can either build us up or tear us down. Conversely, when we’re surrounded by dysfunctional relationships, we can eventually become numb to the resulting emotional and spiritual damage. “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble” (Proverbs 13:20, NLT).
Living together isn’t always easy, and sometimes arguments and disputes can break out. Occasional disagreements are part of healthy relationships, but how we handle them indicates our emotional maturity. Working out our differences and making up after an argument is better than holding grudges, whether we offended someone else or they offended us. “A brother wronged is more unyielding than a fortified city; disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel” (Proverbs 18:19, NIV). Forgiveness is a way to let go of the hurt and prevent bitterness after a dispute, and it heals all parties involved.
We can form relationships based on emotional needs, selfish interests, manipulation, fear, or any number of other things, but the ones based on love will nurture and encourage. They have an enormous impact on our emotional state of mind. Positive relationships are gifts from God, and in them are found plenty of godly love and forgiveness. “Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]” (1 Peter 4:8, AMPC).
Not enough good things can be said about love, which should be at the core of everything. Families operating in love are closer and more resilient than families without it. The apostle Paul wrote about the kind of love necessary for us not just to survive but to flourish. “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails…” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NKJV). God honors and blesses relationships with this type of love operating in the background.
We show true wisdom when we form all of our relationships according to God’s kind of love. This isn’t always easy, because everyone is imperfect, and many are carrying their own emotional baggage. To avoid confusion on this point, we can turn to Jesus as our perfect example. “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God… Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another” (1 John 4:7, 10, 11). If we have Him as our guide, we can’t go wrong.

Dog Lovers Who Travel
By: Sherri Burris
There are endless adventures you can take with your family and your dog. If you are going don’t leave your "Man’s Best Friend" at home. Our pets are already major companions in our lives, so it’s all the more fun to make memories away from home with them.
Camping is one of the oldest pastimes that people like to do during the summer months. They can load up and take out on an adventure with the family and with the dog. If taking the dog is not an option you can look into a dog sitter. I know that leaving the pooch behind can be a stressful situation. There is nothing better than finding a good reliable person to take care of dog. But if not you can take he or she with you and consider a few options I have listed to make your adventure a fun and safe outing for you and your dog. Dogs love to travel - outdoor vacations are their favorite! Dog travel accessories will make sure your pooch is comfortable and secure during your next road trip. From hikes to boat outings, the right travel gear will help your pet be prepared for it all. Anytime you travel with your dog you should have a car seat. There are many different kinds of all sizes so be sure and get one that will keep your pet safe. One accessory would be a travel dog bowl. Maybe an anti-spill bowl would be beneficial for all concerned. It is a bowl that doesn’t allow water or food to spill out. There are a variety of bowls available, I’m sure you can find one that is right for your pet. Always having water for your dog is must. When camping you will want to keep your dog away from other campers. Not everyone are dog lovers. There are hands free belts that convert into a leash. This will also keep your dog safe will being away from home. You may want to consider a portable dog pen, so your dog can enjoy the outdoors just as much as you do. Keeping your dog safe is a priority especially when outdoor adventuring. Another way to be sure your dog is safe is to consider a dog life jacket. Even if your dog loves the water there maybe an incident that would require your dog to need a like jacket. There are several different styles and sizes to pick from. There are raincoats and warmer jackets available also, all designed to keep your dog safe and comfortable. You may want to consider picking up a GPS dog tracking device to have in the off chance your pooch goes missing. These devices are a great way to keep track of your dog when traveling away from home. They let you locate your pet on demand, monitor their activity and record adventures on a smartphone. This device will come in handy if your dog get lost. Be sure and check the weather before you leave, not only will this help you be prepared for conditions like rain or snow that could slow your travel, you’ll have a better idea of what to pack for your dog. Keep them comfortable in conditions they aren’t used to. Having fun and making memories with your dogs are a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Take pictures, share them on social media, whatever helps you remember these trips. Don’t forget to bring your furry friend along for your next road trip.

Minding Your Business! How Cross-Selling Can Help Your Business....

4 Best Cross-selling eCommerce Practices to Boost Check-Out Sales
Your business likely has more than one offering and your clients might be interested in more than just one product or service. When you defined your ideal clients you likely identified who they are and what they want from your business, but did you map out how to sell more than one product or service through cross-selling? Cross-selling is the act of selling something to an active user who is already buying something else. You’ve seen it everywhere from Amazon to Zappos and it’s because cross-selling is effective when done right. This may vary depending on your business, but this article covers four of the best practice staples in any cross-selling strategy. 1. Time it Right Timing is essential for cross-selling success. Several online studies noted a previous analysis by Achieve Global who surveyed users and found 40% were negative in their reception of cross-selling and the cited reason was when the cross-selling happened. The golden rule is to respect your user’s time. They may be in a rush to complete their purchase with you. Make sure they have that finalized before the cross-selling occurs. Online cross-selling has been growing and for the big players it is always in a minimally intrusive way such as after the purchase or simply at the bottom of a product description. Depending on what you provide and your conversion funnel (the path users take when buying from you or becoming a client) you should see where a user would complete their reason for contacting your business. It’s best to make as few barriers as possible between the start and end of that path so make sure you only cross-sell in ways that don’t obstruct your user. 2. Inform Completely Cross-selling without context will make your attempts appear financially driven and can put your user off. Instead, convey the value through citing the reasoning for the cross-selling suggestions. Are they supported by past purchase habits of other users? Amazon bases its recommendations by framing it around user interest based on their data on past user activity and purchases. If you are providing your expertise and the client is contacting you or buying from you based on you expertise, then cite that knowledge as the reason you’re suggesting other products or services. Be honest and make the best suggestions only so your users see the value of the cross-selling and your users will respond much better. 3. Offer Something Special Providing additional value is a great way to cross sell. When a user is buying something from you or making an appointment and you have other items or services they could be interested in, why not offer a discount or other sort of incentive? Users may not be aware of how the two offerings relate so make sure you make it explicitly clear as per point 2. Connect the offerings and if there is additional value in buying both, then tell the user what that is and why the discount or other offer is being made. 4. Listen to Feedback Listening to your users is essential to building a loyal client or customer base. This can mean reviewing the cross-selling efforts and refining them based on how effective or not they are. Or it can mean reviewing emails or phone calls where users have expressed anything to do with the cross-selling. If you are seeing negative results then you have missed the mark and should stop the current cross-selling. You can start again but really assess what went wrong the first time. Cross-selling can be very effective when done right but a disaster if done wrong. Knowing when it’s wrong and acting on it to stop the issue is extremely important so don’t let this be something you set up and forget about. |
