US Sports Strength and Conditioning: Are Your Earbuds Frying Your Brain?

by Anthony Altieri

Are Your Earbuds Frying Your Brain?

The rapid technological advancements in the audio sector have made wireless earbuds more of a necessity than a luxury. From Apple's AirPods to Samsung's Galaxy Buds, these little gadgets have become an integral part of our daily lives. But as their usage skyrockets, so does the concern about their safety, particularly when it comes to brain health.

The Growing Unease: Unpacking the Worries

Wireless earbuds operate using Bluetooth technology, emitting a type of radiofrequency radiation in the process. This has caused some people to wonder if placing such devices in close proximity to the brain could have potential health risks. We've grown so used to Bluetooth headphones that we barely pause to consider their potential long-term effects. Already, we're exposed to various other forms of radiation via cell phones and other gadgets.

Extreme viewpoints suggest that wireless earbuds could "zap your brain's energy," leaving users feeling fatigued or mentally exhausted. These arguments often gain traction on social media platforms, where snippets of "research" can quickly go viral, irrespective of their scientific credibility.

Digging into the Science: What Does Research Actually Say?

Before diving into panic mode, it's essential to understand the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation, such as X-rays and gamma rays, carries enough energy to remove tightly bound electrons from atoms, leading to cellular damage and an increased risk of cancer. Non-ionizing radiation, like the type emitted by Bluetooth devices, is far less energetic and doesn't have the same damaging effects.

Reports argue that AirPods, and other similar devices, have not been proven to be harmful, based on studies examining the health effects of electromagnetic fields (EMFs). There's also no substantive evidence to support the claim that Bluetooth earbuds increase the risk for brain cancer. Moreover, it's important to note that the radiation emitted by Bluetooth devices is extremely low compared to other types of radiation. The power of radiation diminishes with distance, and considering the proximity of earbuds to phone devices, the overall exposure remains minimal.

Should You Be Worried?

Given the available scientific data, there's little reason to believe that wireless earbuds pose a serious threat to brain health. However, it's always wise to apply the principle of moderation. Using wired headphones when you're at home or limiting your Bluetooth earbud usage when not necessary could be small but impactful ways to limit any potential exposure to radiation.

The Voice of Reason: Precaution is Not Paranoia

While there isn't concrete evidence supporting the claims that wireless earbuds are detrimental to your brain, being cautious does not hurt. Sometimes, precaution stems not from fear but from a well-informed perspective. Simple practices such as taking regular breaks, using speaker mode when possible, or even rotating between wired and wireless options can be good habits to adopt.

Conclusion: Don't Toss Them Out Just Yet

While the fears around wireless earbuds and brain health might seem alarming, current scientific evidence does not validate these concerns. However, it's always a good idea to balance convenience with caution. The debate on this topic is far from over, and as technology continues to evolve, so will our understanding of its long-term effects. Until then, you can continue to use your wireless earbuds, but perhaps with a newfound awareness and a moderate approach. After all, a bit of precaution today could potentially save you from unforeseen troubles down the road.

Is empathy over blown and exaggerated?

  • Author Health 24/7 TodayEmotional Intelligence | The Neurosurgical Atlas

American media makes a big deal of the human trait of empathy. We are reminded at every turn to always step in the shoes of our fellow people and look at the situation from their perspective. In fact, empathy is being kicked around so often in mass media that it runs the risk of being rendered meaningless. The more people repeat it, the more clueless people are about what it really means. It really is quite sad because empathy is necessary for emotional intelligence that directly affects the mind.

There are no two ways about it, this is an inescapable fact. If you want to become a more effective emotional person, and be in touch with your emotional intelligence and make it work for you, you have to know what empathy is and how to use it. Empathy means being able to look at any situation from the perspective of people in reacting with that situation. You may not necessarily like these people, and they may not have anything in common with you, but it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are able to step out of the crushing gravitational pull of your own ego and pride to step into their shoes.

As you can imagine, this requires a tremendous amount of reprogramming because that’s not how people wire themselves. Most of us look at the world in selfish terms. We think the world revolves around us. In fact, too many of us think that once we die, the world dies with us because we’re no longer there to witness what’s going on. You know that that’s a lie. You don’t have to be a philosophy major in college to understand the concept of absolute truth.

The world existed before you, it exists now and will continue to exist long after you’re gone. That’s reality. How does this play out in terms of logic? Well, if you see a cat, it doesn’t really matter if it has stripes or spots, or has many colors or only one. Once you understand the form of a cat, you know that cats exist. The same goes with the world. If you can understand the concept of reality, then you know that reality exists whether you’re there to observe it or not.

The problem is a lot of people assume that they are the center of their universe. This is why empathy merely gets lip service. It’s very hard for us to stay away from the gravitational pull of our pride and egos. You would rather imagine that everything turns around us. This is why it’s really important to master the art of empathy. Ironically enough, to become a more empathetic person, you must first become more emotionally self-aware. In other words, to be selfless, you must first become selfish and self-absorbed.

Examine yourself. Are the emotions that you’re feeling what you think they are? Are you able to effectively communicate these emotions in an objectively clear way? Once you have answered these and other fundamental questions, can you make serious progress when it comes to empathy?

Make no mistake, if you want to become a better leader, more sexually attractive to members of the opposite sex, become a persuasive person all around, and otherwise live a more fulfilling and effective life, empathy is part of the picture.

The good news is you only need to click the link below to get the information you need to maximize your emotional intelligence. It is something that you can improve as long as you choose to. Get your FREE Book an awesome blueprint so as to make emotional intelligence maximize your chances of success in all areas of life and experience the benefits of a healthy mind.

US Sports Psyche: How to Achieve Mental Strength by Destroying Inner Obstacles

 -Author Gregg Swanson

Let’s take a short trip. Close your eyes…well not now, first read the next paragraph. Close your eyes and remember a time in your life when you felt inspired and excited to make a significant change. What happened? Did you go for it or did your inner obstacles get in the way?

Your beliefs, thoughts and feelings are the foundation on which you build your mental strength, hence your success. A solid house can't be built on a foundation of shifting sand, or a compose pile. The same applies to achieving success by using mental strength.

If your beliefs that lead to your thoughts are shaky, scattered and uncontrolled, they will create internal obstacles that will hold you back unless you destroy them.

Many times, it’s our "good indented" friends, colleagues and family members who foster the seed of doubts by trying to talk you out of changing your path. It is when you decide to make a better life for yourself that your decision will be met by all kinds of cautious warnings.

People will tell you "That sounds great, but do you have any idea how much that will cost you or how long it'll take to get the kind of result you want?" Or "What makes you think YOU can do that?" Or "Why in the world do you want to change? Just put in your time and be happy." Or the big one…"What will happen if . . .?"

Regardless of who and where this "advice come from, they only serve to increase your level of anxiety and self-doubts. The best way to handle such opinions is to say what my good friend T. Harv Eker says, "Thanks for sharing" and then immediately forget what they said.

Learning to handle obstacles is the best way to stand your ground and succeed. While listening or running away only serves to undermines your self-esteem.

The Universe presents you with these challenges in order to learn to how to develop mental strength, grow stronger and more confident in yourself.

To succeed at overcoming obstacles, you need to have the mental strength to stick through any adversity, if you truly believe in your goal. You must see things through; to have the mental strength to believe more in yourself than in the obstacles and to have the willingness to do what it takes to turn the obstacles around.

This means, you need to stand up to your obstacles and not just believe you can overcome them but take action AND overcome them! When you attack your obstacles head-on and do something, you'll find that they will simply evaporate. Heck, you might even have some fun at the same time.

Standing up to and conquering your obstacles develops the mental strength within you and creates sense of accomplishment that reinforces the sense of your inner power. By developing a habit mental strength, you instill into your psyche a strong message of endurance and success. This strengthens the belief in yourself and what you can accomplish.

Sometimes you may have to resort to some other measures to overcome obstacles. Here a few simple yet powerful techniques to assist you in developing mental strength

Contemplation:

Ask yourself if the obstacle can be ignored. Your fixation of the problem only renders it more cumbersome. If possible, stop paying attention to it. Remember, energy flows where attention goes, and results show.

Use humor to neutralize obstacle. This helps to diffuse the tension around the issue.

Take the bull by the horn and address the challenge head-on. This might be challenging at first, particularly if you are not used to confrontation. Yet the more you do it, the easier it will become.

Action Steps:

1.See obstacles as a learning to move you forward, fail forward fast!

  1. Repeat loudly as often as necessary to yourself: "I have overcome this", or "This too shall pass."

  2. Confront obstacles as habits of success (and not of failure.)

  3. Develop the ability to overcome, bypass, or eliminate obstacles.

  4. When difficult circumstances arise, take massive and immediate action.

You can only allow other people to put obstacles in your path, you either accept them or not, it’s totally up to you. Learn how to develop mental strength by standing up to the challenges without complaining. Have the mental

strength to change your thoughts and beliefs that you can succeed, and you will.

Strength Coach The Most Important Time for a Small Business

Vince Gabrielle -  From StrengthCoach.com
There is a very nice restaurant in our town that opened their doors a few months ago.
However, they've been open, serving food for months, if not a year.
click me
They have been running their restaurant from a lunch truck. Compared to opening the actual restaurant, the lunch truck was a very small investment. But a very necessary one.
This is where they could build a few VERY important things:
  1. A customer base
  2. A reputation
  3. Find out what people liked/disliked
  4. Grow revenue
They were doing all this while keeping their overhead very low.
This was exactly what I did when I started my gym. I put every piece of equipment I owned into my truck and started working.
I didn't focus on creating fancy brochures or business cards.
I didn't perfect the training process. I just worked.
I can remember collecting 30 checks on the local football field before one of my camps started.
I see too many guys that start gyms that get way ahead of themselves. They want to have a great facility to start with but open their doors with no clients, no foothold in their community and no money.
The funny part here is when I hear these guys talk about branding as a marketing strategy. They've yet to make a dollar but are concerned with branding, it makes me chuckle. Join StrengthCoach.com to keep reading.....

Beauty in Everything

happiness
Team BPI Athlete Victoria D’Ariano shares her thoughts on what it takes to achieve “real” happiness.
Bad posture and good posture. Too fat or too skinny. Blonde or brunette. Why does one have to be beautiful and the other not? Through my journey of self love, I am starting to learn how subjective beauty is, and the impact my perception of beauty can have on my happiness. Here’s what I believe “fake” happiness is and what real happiness should feel like:
“Fake” happiness:
  • Basing your self-worth on your body
  • Only being happy when your body looks a certain way
  • Basing your happiness on the validation from others
  • Doing anything to reach an “ideal body”
  • Never being satisfied with the way you look but always chasing the next “goal physique”
  • Valuing the opinion of others about yourself more than you value your own opinion of yourself
  • Comparing yourself to others and thinking if you look that way you’ll be happy
  • Missing out on life to achieve a “perfect” physique
  • Settling for mediocracy and being “safe” verses taking a chance and following your heart and perhaps failing
  • Being “rich” even if you hate what you are doing
See all of these things? We think that achieving them will make us happy, and yes, perhaps it will, but eventually that happiness will fade because it’s not real, it’s just temporary happiness based on these superficial things.
What I THINK real happiness is (and am working on):
  • Basing your self-worth on who you are as person on the inside, regardless of what you look like
  • Basing happiness on the ability for YOU to love yourself, NOT through the validation of others
  • Putting your health first, both mentally and physically over looking a certain way
  • Being able to be present and happy with the way you look right now and not feel the need to change it (unless you genuinely want to, for YOU)
  • Allowing yourself to change in order to grow to make you a better person, NOT because you don’t like who you are
  • Making your opinion about yourself the most important thing regardless of what others have to say
  • Acknowledging you are YOU for a reason and not wanting to be someone else but instead the best possible version of yourself
  • Enjoying life and understanding that there is more to it all than just looking a certain way
  • Following your heart and going after your inner greatness even if it will threaten and upset people
  • Following your passion regardless of how much money you will make
  • Opening up your heart so you can really get to know yourself, experience life fuller and also be kinder to others
These bullets are the ones I am striving towards.
