Rio Grande, southern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. --- A plainclothes
policeman reacted to a robbery at a drugstore on Tuesday night
September 3-2019 around 9:05 pm (local time) and shot two armed robbers.
One perpetrator was killed and another was shot during an attempted
robbery in a pharmacy on Roberto Socoowski Road in the Vila São João
neighborhood of Rio Grande. The crime occurred around 9 pm on Tuesday
and was recorded by the establishment's surveillance cameras. According
to the city's military brigade, two criminals stormed the scene, where
there were two clients, one undercover police officer.
The gunman pointed his gun at the victims, but the policeman reacted
quickly and shot the assailant who died on the scene. His partner was
shot in one leg and the PM was also hit by at least two shots.
The PM, who was off the battalion where he operates, the 6th BPM, was
rescued and sent to Santa Casa de Rio Grande in serious condition. One
shot hit one leg and the other injured his groin. He is in the Intensive
Care Unit (ICU) because one of the bullets has gone up into the
intestine, which requires the use of a colostomy bag. The surviving
criminal was also taken to the same hospital, where he remains in care
and is in the custody of the Military Brigade.
The other client and the pharmacy staff were not injured during the
attempted robbery followed by shooting. The weapon used by the criminal
was seized. The case will be investigated by the Rio Grande Civil
Police. The dead man was 23, while the hospitalized criminal is 21.
