DEVELOPING YOUR GAME USING THE GUN

by Scott Peterman

Description

DEVELOPING YOUR GAME USING THE GUN This book was originally put together after some players were asking me about drills they could do in the gym when they came in by themselves or with teammates. I provided them with various drills for the “GUN” they could use when they wanted to get extra work in. The players really embraced it and enjoyed the drills so much they asked if I would put them down on paper so they could remember them and be able to describe the drill to their teammates. The drills in this book are designed for as few as one person to as many as you may want to have. As you will see, the drills are designed for players to work on their shot off the catch, off the dribble and coming off screens. In addition, the players learn how to move without the ball and read cutters for shots. The book is now used not only for work outside of practice but in our player development sessions. It is important when your players put in work outside of practice that they are getting up game shots at game speed. The drills in this book allow for just that. I think this book is also very helpful to coaches in practice, player development session and providing your players with some structure for when they want to put work in on their own. I hope you find this book to be very helpful to you the coach and the players.

I severely injured my back in January of 2018 and could barely walk. I refused surgery and took medication. Needless to say I gained over 30 lbs in five months. Summer came and I was on YouTube and found a guy who helped young athletes with physical therapy. He showed a few, what I thought were cheesy, videos, but I was desperate, so I tried them. They worked! By July was able to workout again. I credit most of my fitness success to Lisa-Marie, I’ve been a bodyrocker since she pretty much started! Anyway, August rolls around, and I discover at 40, I’m pregnant! I was nervous and excited all at the same time. As I still continued to gain weight, at 11 1/2 weeks, I miscarried! It was a sad, depressing time. But I picked myself up and with the help of a friend and a new devotion to working out, I lost all of the weight and started to feel whole again.
My motivation was and still is my three kids. Ryan is 10, Mackenzie is 8, and Emily is 6.  I love them more than anything and wanted to be the best me I could be, for them!
I workout hard five days a week and two days, I walk or ride my bike for at least an hour. I get up at 5 a.m and workout usually until 6:30 a.m. I do a combination of HIIT, Sweatflix, and weight training.
Everyday, I try to push myself just a little harder. I also track my macros as well and try to stay tight with my nutrition.
I’m determined to be the best me I can be. The only person I compare myself to, is the person I was a month ago, a week ago, or yesterday.
I now love myself and people can see that. My confidence through my journey has gone from bottom of the barrel to running over. I love me!

These photos are progress shots from the very beginning to the now. It's been a lot of hard work but has been totally worth it! High intensity interval training with Bodyrock and the amazing Lisa-Marie has helped me reach my goals! From being just over 90kg I've managed to reach my goal of 68kg, and have kept it off! I just bought the basic dumbbells and kettlebells, but found that the sandbag is probably one of my favourites because you can do so much with it. I still workout everyday as it is part of my daily routine and hate missing a workout.

iHealthTube Featuring: Maybe You're Not Hungry! It Could Be This! And Elimination Diets: The Gold Standard for Food Sensitivities?

When you get that feeling in your stomach, is it necessarily hunger? Dr. Joel Fuhrman offers some interesting insight into what hunger actually is and how different foods do different things in the body. Learn how you can tell the difference! Also, if you want to lose weight, watch and learn the differences when it comes to certain foods!
Elimination Diets: The Gold Standard for Food Sensitivities?

By: Danielle Venhuizen

Have you ever gone through the rigor of an elimination diet to see if there are foods in your diet that are causing unpleasant symptoms? Many of us have, or at the very least thought about it. The classic Elimination Diet is still the gold standard for uncovering food sensitivities. It was originally invented and popularized by Dr. Albert Rowe in his book Elimination Diets and Patient's Allergies, written in 1941. We are still using his concept to this day. Many healthcare practitioners, even medical doctors, recommend these diets on a routine basis. They too know that IgG tests, as I wrote about previously (insert link), are fraught with errors and are frankly unreliable.

So what does an Elimination Diet entail exactly? As aptly named, this type of diet seeks to eliminate many of the known common allergens (or as they should be more appropriately called, sensitivities) from the diet for a set period of time, usually 3 or 4 weeks. This gives the immune system enough time to calm down, so to speak, and ample time to see a reduction in symptoms. When foods are reintroduced, the symptoms they provoke are typically obvious and more severe than previously experienced. This makes it much easier to pinpoint the culprit foods.

Here are the foods typically eliminated on a basic elimination diet:

Wheat

Gluten

Corn

Soy

Dairy

Nightshades

Eggs

Peanuts

Alcohol

Caffeine

Cane Sugar

Artificial Sweeteners

Other foods eliminated on stricter plans:

Beans, peas, lentils

All seeds and nuts

ALL sugar (including maple syrup, honey, etc)

Beef

Chicken

Pork

Shellfish

Certain chemicals (tyramine, phenylethylamine, nitrates, MSG, etc)

As you can imagine, these diets are clearly no walk in the park. They are typically only suggested for patients that are willing and able to follow the protocol with the strong suggestion that the diet be guided by a trained practitioner. The rigor of the diet can be a hurdle for some, but this can be overcome with proper education, advice, and support. Most of us Dietitians have had training and practice during our schooling and are well qualified to walk patients through the process.

While you know now that elimination diets have been around for some time, you may have noticed they have started to become re-popularized lately, almost faddish in nature. Nowadays there seems to be countless books hitting the shelves talking about anti-inflammatory diet plans and specialized eating plans that claim they will help you shed weight, increase your energy, and even make you look years younger. What do all these diets have in common? They are based on the classic elimination diet!

As noted previously, these diets can be moderately restrictive or very restrictive based on what criteria you follow. That criteria is usually decided upon by you and your practitioner and what foods they seem to think are likely problematic in your particular case. While guided, informed and well-meaning, it's essentially a guessing game. Similarly when you follow the plan put out by some author who has never met you and certainly doesn't know your history or symptoms, it is an even greater guessing game.

Bodycam Captures Intense Police Shootout in San Diego, California

** (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) ** The District Attorney's office has completed its review of a violent incident last year in which two San Diego police officers were shot, officers were forced to scramble for cover and return fire, and the suspect eventually took his own life. On June 23, 2018, San Diego Police officers were called to a condominium unit in the College area to investigate a violent disturbance. Officers smelled smoke coming from the condo and called firefighters to assess the situation. Police knocked on the door for more than 20 minutes but got no response. To ensure there was no fire danger, fire personnel forced entry into the home. Joe Darwish, 28, immediately opened fire on police and fire officials with a large caliber weapon, striking one police officer in the back. Two officers returned fire while backing away from the residence, providing cover for the wounded officer. The officer who had been shot fell onto his back and was initially unable to move. After several seconds, he managed to roll onto his stomach and was able to crawl down the hallway in an attempt to get out of the line of fire. During the ensuing gun battle, a second police officer was shot by Darwish. (Article continues below)

Darwish fired at least twenty-two shots at police. Eventually, the shooting stopped and Darwish was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. He had also been struck in the arm and face from one of the officers' shotgun fire. The San Diego Medical Examiner ruled Darwish's death a suicide. "This harrowing incident shows just how quickly a routine call for service can turn deadly for police officers who suddenly found themselves in the line of fire, trying to protect their wounded fellow officers and keep the shooter from endangering members of the public," said District Attorney Summer Stephan. "It's a tribute to these officers' bravery and quick response that the gunman didn't injure more people or kill the officers and firefighters involved." Darwish was wearing a bullet-proof vest and was armed with a homemade assault weapon and a homemade 9 mm semi-automatic pistol. Neither weapon had a serial number and the guns were not registered. After a thorough review, the District Attorney's Office determined officers were justified in using deadly force to defend against Darwish's attempts to kill them and others. Both officers who were shot survived their injuries. The DA’s detailed analysis can be found here: https://www.sdcda.org/office/Darwish%...

Priorities of Prosperity

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24

God isn’t against your having money. He’s against money having you. He’s against your making it your priority and putting your trust in it instead of in Him.
Why? Because He knows money makes a lousy god. Its power is limited. It will only buy so much. It will only go so far.
If you need healing from an incurable disease, money won’t help you at all. If your family is falling apart, money won’t mend it. But if you’ll seek God first, His prosperity will reach into every area of your life.
God is so generous that He desires you to have the best on this earth, just as you desire the best for your children. His plan is for you to have all of your needs met according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Get in on that plan by keeping your priorities straight. Seek Him first and His righteousness.
Make pleasing God your No. 1 priority. Set your eyes on Him above all else and all these things will be added to you.

PRINCETON, N.J. (May 12, 2019) – Howard University men’s & women’s track and field wrapped up the weekend at the 2019 IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships inside Weaver Stadium, hosted by Princeton University.

In contrast to yesterday’s forecast, Sunday’s jam-packed day consisted of rain throughout the day. Despite the tough weather conditions, several Bison qualified in their respective finals.

On the women’s side, freshman Kennedy Lewis (Atlanta) and sophomore Ameenah Saalih (Willingboro, N.J.) competed in the 100-meter dash where both Bison qualified for the finals, clocking in at 12.04 and 12.11, respectively. In the finals, Lewis placed fifth overall (12.34) while Saalih came in seventh (12.59).

Third-year hurdler Uchechi Onuoha (Yardly, Pa.) participated in the women’s 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles where she reached the finals in both events. Furthermore, the Pennsylvania native took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.14).

For the men, senior Kenneth Chigbue (Bowie, Md.) competed in his final race for the Bison. Chigbue placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, recording a 21.78 mark.

On May 23-25, a select few Bison will participate in the NCAA East Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla. for an opportunity to compete at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas (June 5-9).

One thing I’m certain of. You have a fitness history, a backstory, a tale, that if we got to meet in person, (after hugs and high fives) you would feel almost compelled to tell me about.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet thousands of you guys over the years, and I’ve heard lots of personal stories.

I’ve heard stories that would swell your heart with pride, stories of women that have faced up to their challenges in the most courageous ways, stories of heart break and loss that would make your eyes blink with tears and make your heart swell with empathy and love. We’ve been through a lot together as a community. We’ve shared a lot and only gotten stronger.
Let’s be honest - we’ve all had the sh*t kicked out of us one way or another. That’s just life. But we pick ourselves and each other back up and we celebrate together the wins. And I guess we are coming to the point of this, when I tell you, that the best way we can honour where we’ve come from and the journey we’ve made to get this point is to keep going. Keep pushing, keep fighting, and as BodyRockers, never quitting.

The decision around your fitness, your diet, your confidence, your sense of self worth, it’s made in the present moment, in the now. You have the power to decide, to choose. As invested as we can be in our past, in our struggles and what we’ve been through, our future is decided in the now. You have a fresh chance to start again now. Your past, good, bad or otherwise does not define you.

The real power of this, is that, on the days when I feel down, defeated, lazy, or just not in the damn mood, you guys show up for me and we get our training done together. That’s the proof I have that BodyRocking works. Because I can guarantee you that there are days when the only thing that keeps me going is you. Let me do that for you.
If you want to get in the best shape of your life, choose now. Choose yes. If it’s been a while since you’ve moved in any kind of fitness type of way, then start with the Beginner Bootcamp. It’s 12 minutes a day, coaches you through the moves and will get you moving again and saying YES again to your goals.

It’s free for 30 days, and requires basically no gear or equipment. If you want to speed up your results grab a weighted vest - it will make your stronger, fitter, faster, and here is an awesome BOGO deal on the vest to help get you started.

Remember - your past, good or bad does not define you. It’s about showing up everyday from the heart, first for yourself, then for your family, your friends and the community.

iHealthTube Featuring: Is This the Biggest Trigger of Autoimmune Issues? And Gluten Free Food Online

Autoimmune conditions can manifest into a number of different issues. Is this one of the biggest triggers? Listen to what Dr. Nasha Winters says is the biggest trigger today of autoimmune conditions. It's something that's around you more than you know!
Gluten Free Food Online
By: Douglas Barnes

There are some people who just cannot take gluten in their regular diets, such as those suffering from Celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune disorders like lupus. This makes gluten-free food choices highly important to their health and nutrition and overall food satisfaction. If you or anyone in your family is allergic to gluten, you need to find the best sources for gluten-free fare.

What is gluten?

Gluten is actually a mixture of proteins that is known to have harmful effects in the gut, especially for people diagnosed with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance. The common sources of gluten include wheat, barley, and rye. Therefore, the more common types of food where gluten may be an ingredient include pasta, biscuits, cakes, bread, and other bread mixes, to name a few. Since most of these fare are found in almost everyone’s daily diet and are normally stacked in grocery stores, sufferers of Celiac disease, autoimmune conditions, and gluten intolerance often have a hard time finding food products that are gluten-free.

Non-GMO without the OMG! Shop hundreds of Non-GMO products at Peapod.com! Peapod also offers Organic and Gluten Free products!

Gluten is also found in beverages, such as in barley-based drinks like beer and barley fruit drinks. Yogurt and cheese spreads may also contain gluten, as well as ready-mix spices, spice powders, and even certain kinds of medicines.

Nonetheless, there are also many kinds of healthy food that do not contain gluten. Almost all fruits and vegetables do not contain gluten, and most alcoholic drinks, except for beer, are typically gluten-free. Add to this list eggs, cheese, and coffee creamers.

Buying healthy choices

People suffering from Celiac disease as well as dermatitis herpetiformis need to find healthy food options that do not contain any gluten. Celiac disease patients often suffer from a dearth of nutrients, since there is the tendency to omit different types of essential foods from their diet. Gluten intolerance may also lead to complications, which is why a healthy but gluten-free diet is very much needed. Fortunately, you can easily find gluten-free foods online, from nibbles and snacks to beverages and dinner favorites such as bread mixes and pastas.

Finding gluten-free food online

Most people who are allergic to gluten need to make a few trips to the grocery stores just to be able to buy the food that does not lead to any sensitive reactions. If you find this quite inconvenient, you can choose to shop for your favorite gluten-free choices on the web. It is an inexpensive, easy, and hassle-free way to find your favorite fare without sacrificing on your nutritional intake or making the wrong choices.

Celiac disease, autoimmune conditions, and gluten intolerance can be made more manageable by choosing gluten-free food types. You also don’t need to rack your brains on which products to go for and which to avoid, which can be highly inconvenient. There are great gluten-free food choices to be found online, and now you can buy them easily without having to leave home.
