Hiilary's Dog Story - Evie is our 2 year old Female Boxer. We adopted her ( I prefer this term over “rescued” ) about 8 months ago. She came to us with a history of UTIs and head tremors. We knew that she was the right fit for our family and the missing piece to our home.
For the first 5 months we had no issues with UTIs but were experiencing monthly head tremors. Over the summer Miss Evie got a hold of too many hot dogs etc and we learned that she does in fact have a wheat allergy which we were suspecting.

This ended up causing massive yeast over growth and yeast infections breaking out everywhere in both ears.
4 paws and a UTI all at the same time... UGH!!! After her vet visit, we were sent home with antibiotic ear drops, oral antibiotics for the UTI with a probiotic supplements to counter the lost gut flora, and a special paw wash that we had to do daily for 4 weeks.
This cleared up most of the issues but we were still left with hot spots on 2 of her 4 paws and I was sooooo done with the daily task of taking her in the shower with me to wash her paws for 20 minutes😜
This is when K-9 came to the rescue!!!!
I started spraying 4 sprays twice a day directly into her mouth and topically on the remaining hot spots. In less than a week they were all cleared up wahoooo!
Other Bonuses we have noticed this past month is less stinky boxer farts and solid poop (which is a really big deal for a boxer) and she has had no head tremors this month.
Her anxiety has lessened, and she can now go play at a local doggy daycare. If Evie could talk she would say THANK YOU! She comes running over when she hears me spray my to get Max to get her K-9 spray, so I know it's making her feel better.

Grandma To Be Got Fit and Healthy- So Can You

Ladies and Gentlemen, Athletes and Warriors,
Thanks to the Creator of the Universe and the sound science that proves how nature truly works, excuses are nothing more than our own building blocks of failure.
Imagine if you and I made a decision that no matter what comes up in our lives that we are not going to quit pursuing health, prosperity, and happiness.
I don't want to turn all political here, but a revelation hit me and convicted me at the same time during the 2016 presidential campaign. Regardless of what you think about president-elect Donald Trump, did you know that he has been working on becoming president since 1999? I always have to watch it doing math but I believe that is a 17 year effort!
Bottom line Athletes and Warriors and proven once again in today's transformation you can change your body and your life based on your decisions that become commitments, that become convictions. Then whatever your convict yourself to will find you. Never, never, never give up!

Dan’s Story

I came across the Hitch Fit website a few years ago and always thought the results were too good to be true and that is was another online scam. Despite my initial impressions, I was still curious, then one day I recognized an old work colleague on the website and this then gave me the reassurance Hitch FIt was the real deal. It still took me a couple more years to finally commit, I was always concerned how I would manage the requirements of the program around my shift work and family life, but I am glad I finally did, my only regret was putting off the decision for so long.

Micah is very clear at the beginning of the program, you need to be 100% committed to changing your life. I can only reinforce this point, the program is tough, it does impact your lifestyle, your family, and your kids. However, 12 weeks is such a short period of time in your life to ensure you are the fittest and best version of yourself you can be. The effort required to complete the program is worth every bead of sweat and every ounce of pain, as you will NEVER look back once you complete the program.

The first week was brutal, I struggled with the volume of exercise and my body struggled to recover, but as time went by all the unnecessary wasteful things I was doing at home, like watching TV, especially watching nothing in particular became not so important and this freed up time for exercise or food prep. The results as very quick, even at the end of the first week, (despite giving up coffee) I noticed increased energy levels, consistent energy levels, and improved sleep length and quality.

Well the day finally came to see my progress from week one, I was apprehensive, I had worked so hard during the week I did not see any difference in the mirror and did not want to be disappointed. I stepped on the scales, well was I surprised, I had lost 3.3 lbs in the first week, whilst some of this is probably water weight, I continued to lose weight and inches every week, in numbers I would never have expected to be maintained.

Week five came along and I hit a hurdle, I injured my back and couldn’t move for two days, I was flat on my back in bed. I thought the week was going to be a write off, the world was working against me to stop me completing the program. I sought treatment and rested for the two days and managed to continue the program for the remainder of the week.

12 weeks to awesome

Another challenge I found was the nutrition plan, whilst I generally enjoy most foods, I have never enjoyed or even liked oatmeal. It was a real struggle for me and the beginning of the program, well it’s amazing what 12 weeks does, as it is now my preferred breakfast, even after finishing the program.

The program is both physically and mentally exhausting, my main advice to anyone contemplating the program, trust yourself, commit to the journey, commit to becoming the best version of yourself, and trust the program. You will have highs and low through the program, enjoy the highs, work hard through the lows. You will have obstacles, these are to test you, not to stop you. The results and benefits are worth every bit of energy you expend on the program.

Green tea extract may promote weight loss

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) -- Already lauded as a powerful antioxidant, green tea extract may also help dieters shed fat, say researchers reporting in the December issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The extract may also be a safe improvement on traditional diet drugs because its benefits are "not accompanied by an increase in heart rate," write Dr. Abdul Dulloo, of the University of Geneva in Switzerland, and colleagues. As part of their study, the investigators measured the 24-hour energy expenditure of 10 healthy men receiving three doses of caffeine (50 mg), green tea extract (containing 50 mg caffeine and 90 mg epigallocatechin), or a 'dummy' placebo per day.

The study authors report that, compared with placebo, treatment with green tea was associated with a "significant increase" (+4%) in daily energy expenditure. This effect was not linked to the relatively small amounts of caffeine found in tea, since subjects receiving amounts of caffeine similar to those found in green tea displayed no change in daily energy output.

Dulloo's team points out that "there are only two ways to treat obesity: reduce energy intake (i.e., dieting), or increase energy expenditure." According to their analysis, green tea extract seems to perform the latter function, although the mechanisms behind its action remain unclear. The investigators note, however, that green tea extract contains a high amount of catechin polyphenols. These compounds may work with other chemicals to increase levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis, where the body burns fuel such as fat to create heat.

"Stimulation of thermogenesis and fat oxidation by the green tea extract" did not raise subjects' heart rates, the researchers note. This may render green tea superior to stimulant diet drugs, which can have adverse cardiac effects, especially in "obese individuals with hypertension and other cardiovascular complications."

Experts Study Vitamin Megadoses And Today's Amazing Transformation!

Experts Study Vitamin Megadoses

A committee at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) has begun wrestling with setting safe maximum intakes for key nutrients such as vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, and other B vitamins.

The IOM's Subcommittee on Upper Reference Levels of Nutrients is one of several panels revising the government's current recommended average daily intake of nutrients. The IOM has already issued a report on folic acid and the B vitamins, and in the fall, is expected to publish another on antioxidants.

This Subcommittee, which met most recently last Thursday, will eventually issue a report on how much of any vitamin, mineral, or herbal product can be safely taken without toxic side effects. So far, there are few controlled studies evaluating safe maximum intakes.

Even so, many dietary supplement manufacturers sell megadose vitamins, minerals and botanicals, with scant evidence that higher dosages are more effective. There is also little data on safety of vitamins and minerals taken at high levels.

We are looking at new uses of nutrients, and new dimensions of uses,' said Subcommittee member Dr. Sanford Miller, dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.

Dr. John Hathcock, of the Washington, DC-based Council for Responsible Nutrition, said he has seen thiamin sold in 500 milligram (mg) capsules, vitamin C in 1,500 mg tablets, and niacin in 1,000 mg capsules. Studies so far have shown no toxicity with oral thiamin up to 500 mg, but it can change the color of urine and produce an offensive body odor, he said.

Niacin can cause gastrointestinal distress and some liver toxicity at 500 mg doses, Hathcock said.

The panel's job won't be easy, according to Miller. There is no dose-response data for most nutrients, few surveillance, or animal or human chronic intake studies, and most traditional trials have focused on safe intake levels, not maximum tolerable levels, he said.

Words can not express how thankful I am to Micah lacerte from hitch fit, but the pictures and smile on my face can say it all. “I did it, and it feels awesome” yay!!

For years now I’ve struggle with my body, it got to the point where I would close my eyes every time I walked by the mirror on my way to the shower. I hated seeing my fat stomach, it made me very sad. It also made me very frustrated because I did often go to the gym and I thought I ate pretty healthy. The issue was that I didn’t eat enough, I was actually starving my body. I would eat and then go for hours without eating anything in that day.
I work as a flight attendant and I travel so much for work and for pleasure. The excuses for me were “I travel a lot”, “I’m on call, so I never know where I am going”, “I love wine, I could never stop that”. I also took 2 vacations during this 12 week program. I was so determined that I became an expert at packing food to work and vacations, yes I brought my own food to the Turks and Caicos and in Hawaii I went grocery shopping, now every time I’m away I search for grocery stores close by. I also ask for a room with a fridge and ask if there is a microwave I can use. Can a Caffeine, Ephedrine Combination enhance short-term, high-intensity endurance performance?

  • Can a Caffeine, Ephedrine Combination
     
    A recent Canadian study finds an ephedrine-caffeine combination can enhance short-term, high-intensity endurance performance.By Bruce Krip, M.Sc. (EndurePlus.com) -- It's well established that caffeine has ergogenic properties, which soon after ingestion can prolong time to exhaustion during exercise. The studies that have found these results have been done primarily on very fit subjects with high maximal aerobic power and with performance tests that have lasted at least 30 minutes. The extent of improvement appears to be dose related until a dose of 5 to 6 mg/kg, above which no further enhancement occurs. That works out to 350-420 mg of caffeine for a 70 kg or 154 lb person. The ergogenic effects have been attributed to many different physiological factors leading to the stimulation of the central nervous system and/or stimulation of the energy metabolism in peripheral tissues. This includes: adenosine receptor blockage, improved neuromuscular transmission, increased muscle contractility, and increased catecholamine (adrenalin) levels. Ephedrine is a sympathomimetic drug that is both an alpha and beta-adrenergic agonist which can stimulate adrenergic receptors in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. In simpler terms, ephedrine, in essence, mimics adrenalin by displacing noradrenaline in the nerve-ending binding sites and attaching to 'excitatory' receptors of the nervous system. Although presumed by the IOC to induce performance enhancement, the investigators of this study (and as reported previously in EndurePlus) could not find any published research reporting observations that ephedrine improves physical performance. So here we have two drugs, one well established as an ergogenic aid (caffeine), and the other with no ergogenicity to it (ephedrine). In fact, there has been some suggestion that ephedrine on its own may even be ergolytic (detrimental to performance). The goal of the researchers in this study was to prolong the ability to sustain exercise that leads to exhaustion in 10-20 minutes of effort, a duration of time that is not likely to deplete energy stores. Thus, in contrast to research that has hypothesized that caffeine can prolong exercise time by reducing the rate of carbohydrate oxidation during exercise, the researchers in this study were interested in prolonging exercise at an intensity at which increased arousal is probably more important than substrate availability. Considering the central nervous system effects of both caffeine and ephedrine, this investigation was designed to evaluate the effects of these two substances, individually and in combination, on exercise that leads to exhaustion in about 15 minutes. The combination of caffeine and ephedrine is based on the speculation that caffeine induces a "permissive" action on ephedrine, lowering the threshold concentration needed for a physiological effect(s) and potentiating the physiological effect(s) of a given ephedrine concentration. After a pilot study by the same investigators determined that caffeine and ephedrine levels peaked at 1.5 hours after ingestion, untrained subjects consumed either 5 mg of caffeine per kg of bodyweight, 1 mg of ephedrine per kg, 5 mg of caffeine and 1 mg of ephedrine, or a placebo 90 minutes before exercise. The main finding of this experiment was that the combined caffeine and ephedrine treatment increased time to exhaustion during high-intensity exercise by approximately 38% compared to placebo. The researchers said that since neither the caffeine nor ephedrine treatments alone showed a statistically significant change in time to exhaustion, the hypothesis that ingesting a combination of caffeine and ephedrine would enhance performance more than ingesting either substance alone should stand. Rating of perceived exertion was significantly lower in the caffeine plus ephedrine group as well, signifying that the drug combination may have played an effect on either the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system or both. One unexpected result of the experiment was the relatively high incidence of nausea, which reduced the number of subjects available for the study. Four of the 12 subjects stopped exercising during the caffeine-ephedrine trial because of nausea. 
     
    The researchers reported that the nausea was stimulated by the exercise and was not reported by the subjects prior to commencing exercise. It was presumed that the interaction of the high-intensity exercise with the caffeine and ephedrine was the cause of the nausea since these subjects were able to complete all the other trials uneventfully. Perhaps the masking of perceived exertion allowed subjects to push their bodies to limits not normally reached, causing greater levels of lactic acid production? There has been some suggestion that severe acidosis can cause nausea, as I'm sure many of us have experienced once or twice before! The researchers of this study believe the ergogenic effect(s) of combined caffeine and ephedrine come from the perceptual masking of fatigue, allowing untrained subjects to continue exercising for longer periods. Unfortunately, because the study was conducted on untrained subjects, it is still not clear whether this supplement combination may be of any benefit to a well-trained endurance athlete, especially if there is a risk of nausea. And, of course, there is the morality and legality of such drug use, which I'm not even going to begin to get into. Bell, Jacobs, Zamecnik, Effects of caffeine, ephedrine and their combination on time to exhaustion during high-intensity exercise. 'I've only been on his program for a little over a week, but having trained for football in the past (along with just overall fitness), it's nice to know that I have a structured weight and cardio program to reach my goals. Knowing my way around a gym is one thing, but having my daily workouts set out for me, along with feedback, adjustments, and tips, I can already see my body responding.
