The quick check dart rules

A short version of dart rules, covering the basics without having to trawl through the small print of the big darts organizations.These are the basics you should know to play the game of darts. They are mostly pretty obvious and are common to all the major darts organizations. If you need greater details just go to the respective darts organization for your country, but the BDO (British Darts Organization) is the granddaddy of them all.
No Joke, you can have 12 in long darts if you want, the rules give 12 inches as the maximum size of a dart! Not that I've never seen any that length for sale, and the maximum weight is 50 grams. Usually, soft tip darts are in the range of 14 to 20 grams, and steel tip darts range from 18 to 26 grams, although there are heavier darts on sale.
The dreaded Bounce out rule:
The rule is that all bounce outs do not count towards your score and NO you cannot have another throw. Not only that, but if the dart falls out before the score has been taken it does not count either. I suggest you throw your darts harder if you keep suffering from this rule.
The toe line or throw line is 7 ft 9 1/4 inches from the dartboard: now where did that come from? But you can lean over as far as you like providing your feet are behind that throw line or toe line as it is sometimes called.
The dartboard height is 1.73 metres or 5 foot 8 inches to the centre of the bull
When a dart hits the board, the score is determined by the wire not the color of the segment. The dart has to land inside the segment determined by the wire surrounding the number. If you hit the green of the triple but the dart point is outside the triple wire the score is only a single.
The darts must be thrown point first one at a time at the board and in the '01 games the score is taken away from the previous score until the score is zero. You have to throw a double for your final dart. As a double is required to finish a game, so your score must be less than 40 and an even number to be able to throw a winning dart.

There are other '01 type games that require you to start on a double as well, in fact there is a televised tournament that has a double to start rule as well as a double to finish rule. The World Grand Prix uses that rule.
When throwing for your final double, if you throw more than you need to finish the game, you are ‘Bust', which means your score is void and your score is the same as when you started the throw. Needless to say, you are considered to be 'bust' if you get down to score of 1 as well, because there would be no double to go for .
Also note the score must be decided upon BEFORE the darts are pulled out of the board.
Some of the more interesting rules
During match play, any Players using offensive language or deemed to be "mouthing" any offensive language or seen to be making offensive gestures shall be deemed to have brought the Sport of Darts into disrepute and shall become liable to Disciplinary Proceedings being taken against them by the DRA.

US Sports Strength and Conditioning Swimmer's Conditioning Programs


Swimming

The advantages of a quality strength training program for a swimmer has been well documented as more and more of the best swimmers in the world lift weights to improve. It is a key element in the overall training program to help improve times and reach personal bests more consistently! In addition to the increases of muscular endurance, strength and power that weight training will develop, the Swimming Programs also provide injury prevention by involving special exercises for the shoulders and lower back.

Throughout the length of the Swimming Program, the manipulation of the sets and repetitions for each exercise will be based on periodization concepts that involve changing the intensity and the volume of the workouts. This variation provides a more consistent "programmed response" to exercise which will help to avoid those depressing plateau's in progress.

The starting point of the program is based on an initial fitness level. With feedback, the actual progression of the program will follow the body's unique adaptation process to exercise. Fine tune the program to include all the exercises that feel the best!

Why I Got Started


I got started because I was gaining weight. I decided to join the my mom's gym and started reading up more about fitness. I did a ton of cardio at first, thinking this is how I am going to get fit. Basically I was "skinny fat." I really liked the look of the girls in oxygen magazine and I realized I wanted that.

Monica Brant was a huge inspiration. I attended the Arnold classic and felt very motivated, but I was pregnant at the time. After I had my son, I dropped the weight and then some but I was not happy with my body. I wanted a fit, muscular look, rather than a "skinny" with no muscle tone look. I started looking into competing in a competition. I attended a local show and was ready to give it a try.

I started eating differently and hit the weights hard. I slowly started to see changes in my body. The results were what kept me motivated. I haven't looked back since! I love the feeling of being strong.

How I Did It


I started my journey to the stage in January 2009. I enlisted the help of a trainer in my area. After working with her for a few months, we were not on the same page.

I then met another competitor and she and her husband taught posing classes. She helped me out with my nutrition and posing starting in June of 2009. I did my own workouts by researching and chatting with other fellow competitors.


In October 2009 I competed in my first two figure shows. I was just happy to attempt the stage. Now I want to compete again and obtain my pro card.
