Additionally, the evening will pay tribute to Jim Vance, who passed away after last year’s Gala. Vance, the media legend with NBC4 Washington, served as Master of Ceremonies for this event many times, and was also honored in 2015 as the George Michael Excellence in Media Award winner.

“Jim meant so much to our community,” said Thomas Moorehead, owner of the Sterling Automotive Group and co-founder of The Joyce & Thomas Moorehead Family Foundation. “His support of our gala helped us raise money for countless scholarships for students in need throughout the region.”

The Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala honors the achievements of Greater Washington, D.C. area football players, community leaders, members of the media and Washington Redskins legends. The honorees are chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of respected media members Glenn Harris, Chick Hernandez, Larry Michael and Rick “Doc” Walker.

“The Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala has helped provide hundreds of scholarships to kids in the area for 10 years now,” said Super Bowl XXII MVP, and current Redskins Senior Vice President of Player Personnel, Doug Williams. “Washington D.C. is a special place and a community we all love. The support of Marriott International, the Washington Redskins and so many others has been instrumental in making this program a great success.”
