If ever the old saying “You only get one chance to make a good first impression” was relevant, it’s in ecommerce. Online shoppers are judgmental regarding the look of a website; and they should be! Site design offers important clues about the veracity of a seller. Thus, the best ecommerce platform will always consider design.

Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep

You can have the most wondrous products ever created. But if you can’t get shoppers to stomach looking at your site for more than 50 milliseconds, they will never know. Studies have shown this is the amount of time it takes for a user to decide if they like a website. This determination is based on a number of factors.

Chief among them are:

3. 3. Type Style
4. 4. Amount of Copy

You’ll have an excellent chance of holding a user’s attention if you focus your design choices around those elements.

Smart Color Choices

Color and emotional response are closely related. For example, red attracts attention, generates excitement, and is symbolic of love, warmth, life, and blood. Green triggers thoughts of balance, action, good taste, health, money and harmony. Blue signifies honesty, quality, competence, loyalty, trust, and reliability.

Deeply saturated colors imply wealth and sophistication, while bright and simple colors are often related to children. Pastels tend to appeal to women, while darker colors attract men. Making color choices based upon the characteristics of your primary audience will increase the appeal of your site. You can seldom go wrong with white for backgrounds. Products and black type stand out well against it. That said, you can also make a powerful statement with white text and colorful images on a black background. Whatever you do though, avoid employing more than three main colors in your design.

Harmonious Arrangement of Elements

An organized design pleases the eye. Arranging elements on a page so viewers are led in a logical fashion soothes them. Further, thoughtful menu design improves navigability. Checkout buttons, search functions, calls to action and shopping carts should be readily visible and in accord with the overall design. Meanwhile, crisp logos, photography and familiar social icons infer professionalism.

Easily Discernible Type Styles

Rendering body copy in a simple, easily decipherable font is paramount to your success. It’s OK to go frilly with your name or logo, but product descriptions should be easy on the eyes. People will not struggle to read them. Instead, they will move on to a more accommodating site.

Optimal Copy Density

A delicate balance must be struck here. You want to supply enough information to answer questions. However, you have to avoid paralyzing the reader with too much. A good way to approach this is to provide strong bullet points on the product’s landing page. Include a call to action button, along with the option to click to a product page with in-depth information. This satisfies the customer who wants to make the purchase right away; while providing an option for more information for the customer doing research.

Why Full-Court Press in High School Basketball?

Whether or not to use a full-court press in high school basketball can be a difficult decision for a coach. Are my players athletic enough? Are we disciplined enough to run a full-court press? Do we have the bench depth? All these questions, and more, should be answered prior to implementing a pressing defense. Perhaps the most fundamental question is why should you press? What do you hope to get out it? Other than the obvious, ‘We’re behind late in the game and we have to catch up’, the best answer would be: tempo. Full-court pressing allows you to control the tempo of the basketball game. I have found, in high school basketball, getting the opposing team out of their ‘comfort zone’ when it comes to tempo is an important key to winning. By using a full-court press—my favorite is the 2-2-1 press—you can dictate tempo. If your opponent likes to play up-tempo, use a ‘loose’ 2-2-1 press to apply token pressure to slow down the advance of the ball over half-court. Conversely, if your opponent prefers to play more deliberately, the 2-2-1 press can be used to apply intense pressure. This will speed up your opponent and get them to play at a much faster tempo. In either case, the goal is to get your opponent to play at a pace at which they are not accustomed to playing. Another question that needs to be answered when deciding whether or not to use a full-court press is: How do you define success? Success in the full-court press is not just defined as getting the opponent to turn over the ball. While a turnover would certainly qualify as a successful outcome, the definition of success will depend largely on what type of tempo you are trying to impose. If you are attempting to slow down the tempo of the game, forcing your opponent to use five or more seconds on the shot clock in order to get the ball over half-court could be a successful outcome. Also, in addition to using a specified amount of time to cross half-court, forcing your opponent to use an additional three to five seconds in order to initiate their offense could also be considered a successful outcome. On the other hand, when trying to speed up the tempo of the game, getting your opponent to take a quick shot they would not otherwise attempt is a successful outcome. Getting a player on the opposing team that is not a primary scorer to take a quick shot could also be considered a success. As you can see there are many good reasons to apply a full-court press in high school basketball, and depending on your desired outcome, there are several standards that can be applied to determine if your press is successful. I cringe to think how many times clients come into my office to discuss their criminal matter with me only to learn they have done possibly irreparable damage to their case. I have found few people who are aware of their constitutional rights. Your awareness of some simple concepts may serve you well in the event you or a loved one is the unfortunate subject of a criminal investigation. First of all, always remember, you are not required to talk to the police. There may be occasions where your persuasive oral skills will serve to get you a stern warning instead of a costly ticket; however, talking with the police will rarely benefit you when the investigation is for a crime. In addition, talking to friends and family about your criminal matter is usually not a good idea either. Although you do not expect a friend or family member to compromise your case, you may put him or her in an unfair position. A prosecutor may summon your family member or friend to the witness stand in a criminal trial and ask questions about your statements. Such a dilemma will force your family member or friend to decide between perjury and possibly hurting your case. Don't get caught up by the fact that the police officer failed to inform you of your "Miranda Rights." These are your rights to remain silent and to have an attorney present during questioning. So long as you are not under "arrest" the police officer may properly ask you questions without informing you of these rights. You are never required to consent to a search. If a police officer has a search warrant, you must permit the search. However, if a search warrant has not yet been obtained, you should insist the officer obtain one before you voluntarily allow a search. The fact that you insist upon a search warrant does not mean you have something to hide. Rather, it is a confirmation of the constitutional concept that police do not have the right to arbitrarily conduct searches of your property. A police officer has no right to detain you unless there exists reasonable suspicion that you committed a crime or traffic violation. However, a police officer is always allowed to initiate a voluntary conversation with you. Sometimes it is unclear whether or not a person is detained. If you are in doubt, you should ask the police officer if you are in fact free to leave. If you are arrested, Arizona law mandates that you will be brought before a judge within twenty-four hours. This is an important hearing for you. The judge will decide what conditions, if any, must be met before you can be released from jail. You have a right to retain an attorney for this hearing to argue for your release. Regarding the crime of driving under the influence of alcohol, the best advice is to have a designated driver. However, if you are the subject of a DUI investigation, you must be especially careful and thoughtful about what you say and do. In Arizona, a conviction for DUI guarantees a jail term. Arizona law does not require you to submit to roadside field sobriety tests. Although these tests may assist you to convince an officer you are not intoxicated, as a general rule, refusing to take the tests is the better choice. Keep in mind, it is the police officer who subjectively decides whether you passed or failed the tests. Deciding whether to submit to a blood, breath or urine test is a different matter altogether. If you refuse one of these tests, you will likely lose your driver's license for one year. You should consult an attorney before deciding to refuse or submit to one of these tests. DUI is a complex area of the criminal law. However, like other criminal charges, the decisions you make during your initial contact with a police officer can be the difference between conviction and acquittal. Marc J. • Hosted our annual Superbowl Party bringing together men and boys from the church and community
• Launched the Keenagers Computer Classes for our seniors over 65 years of age
• Welcomed visitors from South Africa, Nigeria, Canada, Denver, Los Angeles and man other cities and countries
• Hosted a national service for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force with a full house including special guests Her Excellency Dame Margarite Pindling and the Honorable Perry G Christie,  Prime Minister of the Bahamas
• Our ministry visitation team visited our members in hospitals and at home both old and young
• KMEM (Kingdom Marraige Enrichment Ministry) hosted two spectactular events, annual Valentines Dinner and Keys to Marriage Success hosted by Dr. Dave & Angie Burrows and a special renewal of vows ceremony during our Sunday morning service Feburary 28th
• Emerge Youth Ministry launched mentorship programs in house and it in two Government Jr. High Schools 
• Hosted the annual Culture Up program that featured over 1,800 children from over 20 private and public schools
• Welcomed new viewers and members of our cyber church in Sweden, the Maldives, France and Italy
