The Rock Almighty: Did God Prevent Donald Trump from being KILLED?

  • Author Garfield Gregoire

People in the United States and around the world was SHOCKED to see how close Mr. Trump came to being killed as he spoke at a rally in Pennsylvania. Those in attendance and those watching on TV – including myself, was stunned - as Mr. Trump suddenly touched his ear and then dropped to the floor; and as he dropped to the floor, I cried out – saying NO, NO, possibly several times (not sure how many times). At that shocking and bewildering moment in time, people may have found themselves wondering if Mr. Trump had been killed or seriously injured – until the Secret Service rushed on to the stage to escort him away with a bleeding ear that had been hit by a bullet - which, we later learned, was fired by a young man who, it appeared, wanted to end the life of the former president.

In speaking of the incident, the former President noted that if he had not turned his head in a certain position, the bullet could have entered his skull – possibly ending his life right there on that stage. This moment in time is viewed by many as being miraculous and that divine intervention was involved or that God had miraculously spared the life of Mr. Trump.

In hearing people say that God spared the life of Mr. Trump, then this certainly, leaves the family of the man – Mr. Corey Comperatore – who died at the rally - wondering why God saved the life of the former President and not their father and husband – as the life of this man was also very important to his family.

Time and Chance

I would like to point out that despite the fact that many may be fully convinced that God directly intervened to save Mr. Trump, we must also consider that there is such a thing spoken of in the Bible as time and chance.

In speaking of the fact that time and chance do occur in the lives of people, the Bible says, “… but time and chance happened to them all” (Ecclesiastes 9:11). The word “CHANCE” comes from a Hebrew word which speaks of a chance or occurrence that can happen by accident – meaning that even though the trump shooter appears to have made a deliberate attempt to end the life of Mr. Trump, it could also have been by CHANCE that the firefighter died and Mr. Trump was spared or that he happened to turn his head at just the right moment.

In Luke 13:4, Jesus spoke of certain people who met their death by a tower coming down on them; He said: “Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?”

Jesus noted these people died (possibly by an accident; by chance) did not die because they were sinners above other people but that all men are sinners and that unless repentance is made men will ultimately experience spiritual death or die for all eternity (v. 5).

Hitler Survived Death

Let me make it clear that I am by NO means comparing Mr. Trump with Hitler, but only to make the point that Hitler survived several attempts made on his life. For example, in November of 1939 – on the 16th anniversary of his of his beer hall putsch, a bomb exploded after Hitler had finished his speech, he walked away unharmed. It has been also reported that a theology student posing as a reporter plan to shoot Hitler from a reviewing stand as he passed through a parade, but his view of Hitler was blocked by the crowd and the student was not able to carry out his assassination plan and was at some point later discovered and executed for his actions. Also in 1944, a plot was underway to shoot Hitler in the head with a pistol by a German cavalry officer who sought to conceal a gun hidden in his pocket but was unknowingly prevented from getting close to Hitler -as Hitler’s SS Guards were earlier ordered on that day to not allow aides into the conference room with Hitler. In July 1944 a plan was carried out to kill Hitler - by setting of an explosion hidden in a briefcase - which also failed to kill the German dictator.

No one would want to say God spared the life of Hitler or afforded him divine protection, but the one thing that is sure – is that Hitler could not have remained in power unless God almighty allowed it – because God is supremely in charge and not even Satan can go beyond what God allows. I wonder how many people consider it this way.

You can look at the suffering brought upon Job and understand that though evil came upon Job – through what Satan was allowed to do, nonetheless, Satan was limited in how far he to go in doing harm to Job – for God commanded Satan to not take the life of Job (Job 2:6); Satan could not go beyond what God said; this truth alone dismisses the myth that God is in a contest battling Satan to get everyone saved. If God was battling Satan to get the world saved then Satan would certainly be winning this battle because the vast majority of humans has always been going Satan’s way and not God’s way, but God is not in any contest with Satan to get as much people saved now because God, by his supreme will, has set forth a specific time in which He is going to save all of humanity – only most people do not seem to understand that.

Concerning divine protection, the Bible says, “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (Psalm 34:7). Divine protection is given to those who obey and fear God - by seeking to live by every word of God. God watches over the righteous and delivers them out of their troubles. God’s holy angels are not sent to deliver or minister to the people of the world but to the people of God – the true Christians - who are the heirs of salvation; Hebrew 1:14 make this very plain when it says, “Are they (the angels of God) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be the heirs of salvation?” These angels of God do serve to keep the Christian from harm - such as from serious injuries, premature death, calamities and other evils – as well as to help them fight their battle against Satan – helping the Christian along the journey to achieve eternal life.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, Satan urged Jesus to prove HE was the Son of God by throwing himself from the pinnacle of the temple – while quoting scripture which states God would provide divine protection through his angels if Christ should throw himself off the temple (Psalm 91:11,12). Satan knew God protected Christ and kept him from harm from the day He was born. But Christ would not satisfy Satan’s temptation by putting God to the test; Jesus made this plain to Satan when He said, “It is written … Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God” (Matt. 4:7).

While God does protect those who love and honor him, the Bible, on other hand, reveal that God is supremely in charge over his creation – to the extent that it says, “… He removeth kings and setteth up kings …” (Daniel 2:21). It is God who allows men to be in power and God allows certain ones to have that power in order to work out his purpose here on this earth. For example, you can consider that it was God who made King Saul ruler over the people, but through the act of disobedience, God replaced Saul – by choosing David to be king, and having learned of this, Saul made several attempts to take the life of David; at one instance, Saul threw a javelin at him – hoping to pin him to the wall, but in all this, God allowed no harm to come to David. Surely, it was quite clear God had a purpose for David to fulfill; and in so doing, God protected David - keeping him from death at the hands of Saul.

Whether men are good or evil, it is God who allows men to be in power – so as to work out his divine purpose. It was Winston Churchill who said a purpose was being worked out here below. In regard to that purpose, Romans 13:1 goes as far as to say that the power leaders – through their human governments - hold over the people, is ordained of God; God allows this because He is supremely in charge. This does not mean that God approves of the Democratic form of government we have here in the United States, or that HE approves of the government of Russian and China; not at all, God allows these government to exist for the fulfilling of his divine purpose - as God’s divine Government is the only God approved Government; and I will be following up with another article on that very subject of God’s Government – showing that no matter who gets elected to the office of the president of the United States – whether it be Mr. Trump or vice president Harris, human leaders will not be able to solve the ills of the nation and bring us out of our troubling problems because of the sinful ways of the nation.

In Jeremiah 18:9,10, God says, “And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant. If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.”

Few would understand that America is spoken of in PROPHECY, and that no matter who gets elected to the office of president of the United States our problems and troubles are going to grow and grow to un-solvable proportion – the likes of which we have never seen – all because people are living the wrong way. But the point here is that we should keep in mind that time and chance does affect the lives of people- -causing some to die and others to live; and while it is possible that there might have been direct intervention by God to save the life of Mr. Trump on that fateful day in Pennsylvania, it could have also been by chance that firefighter lost his life on that day – as time and chance happens to all. The thing to keep in mind is that God is in supreme control and death and life is in his hands; it is HE that has appointed that men should die once, but after that the judgement (Hebrews 9:27).

Believe it or not, America is spoken of in Prophecy and to anyone willing to understand, may click the highlighted link below in the resource box.

I am an old man who has, long ago, came to the realization that this professing Christian world – with all its Mega Churches and various denominations do not proclaim the true teachings of the Bible - as they fail to correctly teach many vitally important doctrinal truths of Bible.

US Sports Soccer: 10 Best Soccer Dribbling Drills and LA Galaxy vs. San Diego FC | Full Match Highlights | History! San Diego Debut

10 Best Soccer Dribbling Drills

  • By Damilare Ilyiade

There are several amazing things about the game of soccer, and several aspects of the game that makes every bit of it exciting from passing, to goal scoring and tackling. One aspect of the game that makes it so attractive even for people that are not soccer fans is dribbling.

Dribbling is an aspect of the game that separates a dominant player from the average player. The ability to carry the ball up the field past a defender is such a vital part of becoming a better soccer player. Speed, balance, endurance, agility, and body control are essential factors in making a soccer player successful in dribbling. The idea is for a soccer player’s dribbling skills to become second nature, so when the time arises they naturally perform the necessary move for that particular situation.

As a player who is willing to reach the very top and become a successful soccer player, you have to master every aspect of the game, most especially dribbling. The greatest players in the history of the game, players like Pelé, Messi, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many others are distinguished from the rest because they know how to leave other players behind in a scintillating way using a variety of creative dribbling moves. They are not just good at dribbling because they are talented alone, but because they put in 100% effort during every practice.

As a soccer coach, dribbling is one of the most important types of soccer drills that you have to incorporate in your soccer practices.

An essential definition of dribbling that a soccer player cannot forget is that dribbling is the art of keeping the ball away from the opposition at a close range as you go past them.

To become a dominant player on the pitch, you must have the ability to control the ball at your feet and move anywhere you want on the pitch. That’s what top players do, they can go wherever they want on the pitch, they create spaces where some can’t find them, and all these are possible because of their excellent dribbling skills.

It is vital that all soccer coaches provide practices that will help their players develop excellent ball control and get creative in the process.

10 DRIBBLING DRILLS THAT CAN TAKE YOU FROM A ROOKIE TO A PRO

1. STRAIGHT CONE DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help the players keep the ball at a short pace, an attribute that is expected of a good dribbler. This will help their touch and control of the ball.

Set-up

10 cones on a straight line at an equidistance apart. Distance may be between 0.8m to 1.5m.

Execution

➢ The trainer stands at the sideline when he blows the whistle, and he kicks the ball at a very high velocity to the player standing by the first cone.

➢ The player must control the ball well and start dribbling through the cone.

➢ Players practice dribbling through the cones with the inside of both feet, outside of both feet; inside and outside of the right foot; inside and outside of the left foot.

➢ On getting to the last cone, the player must make quick touches with the ball and get back to the first cone at the fastest of their pace.

➢ Repeat as the coach instructs.

Coaching tips

The drill must be performed with total concentration. This drill will help the players keep the ball better even when under pressure.

2. FORTH & BACK CONE DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help a player’s tenacity when dribbling. The drill also helps improve players physical fitness and turns during the game.

Set-up

At least 5 cones on a straight line at an equidistance apart. Distance may be between 4-5M.

Execution

➢ This drill comes in two folds, one with the ball moving on a straight line and the second one with the ball dribbling through the cones.

➢ For the first one, starting at Cone 1, sprint with the ball to Cone 2. Turn and sprint back to Cone 1. Turn and sprint to Cone 3, back to Cone 1, and so on.

➢ For the second one, starting at Cone 1, sprint with the ball and dribble through to Cone 2. Turn and sprint back to Cone 1. Turn and sprint with the ball and dribble through to Cone 3, back to Cone 1, and so on

➢ Once you have reached all four cones and are back at Cone 1, take a 30-second rest before starting the next set.

Coaching tips

The drill must be performed at a very high energy level. And it must be repeated before doing something else.

3. ONE ON ONE CONTROLLED DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help players harness ball control and handling.

Set-up

Set up a 20m by 20m pitch using cones to mark the corners. Make two 4m goals at each end line.

Execution

➢ The game starts in the middle of the pitch, and anyone can start with the ball.

➢ For a player to score, he must dribble the other player before attempting to play the ball through the goal cones.

➢ After a player scores, the other player starts with the ball from their end line (where the other player scored).

➢ The quickest to scores 3-5 goals wins. Depending on the coach’s decision.

Coaching tips

Maximum effort must be put into this drill, and the players must control the ball and make sure they dribble a lot.

4. CIRCULAR CONE DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help players make quick touches to cut the ball around the circle area.

Set-up

Set up at least 10 cones in radius 5-10m. The distance of one cone to the other must be short.

Execution

➢ The players must move the ball round and round the circle.

➢ The players do this as many times as possible.

➢ The drill must be carried out at a top speed of each player.

Coaching tips

The players must raise their head even as they dribble, not to concentrate on the ball at all time.

5. RANDOM DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help players make quick turns and excellent dribble speed to escape their markers.

Set-up

Set up as many as possible cones not in a specific manner. All must be set irregularly at any chosen equidistance.

Execution

➢ The trainer must stand near, and the players begin when he blows the whistle.

➢ The drill must be carried out at a very fast pace.

➢ The trainer must be hard on the players and tell them to go faster during the drill.

➢ In no regular manner, the players should dribble through the cones, all of it.

Coaching tips

The drill enhances concentration during the game, and it helps the players have a better understanding and connection with the ball and how to move it.

6. ONE AGAINST TWO DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help players develop the confidence to dribble in 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 situation. The drill will improve their vision, change of direction, speed, finishing technique, and confidence around the box.

Set-up

One goalkeeper at the post, set up two different gates at a few meters distance in front of the goal. Two players should stand each gate and prevent the offensive players from passing. The offensive players must try to get past the two defenders and score.

Execution

➢ When the trainer blows the whistle, the first player in the offensive line must attempt to dribble past the defender in the first and second gate.

➢ The defenders should move to prevent their gates at all cost.

➢ If the offensive player succeeds in dribbling past the two gates, he should approach the goalkeeper and shoot at goal.

➢ If the defenders were able to win the ball from the attacker, the attacker must return to the offensive line.

➢ If the attacker scores or the goalkeeper prevents him from scoring, either way, the attacker should return to the offensive line to go again.

➢ The next offensive player in line can begin their turn after the player in front of them has scored, or lost the ball to the defenders or goalkeeper.

➢ The drill continues for as long as the trainer wants, and the tenacity varies according to the players’ category.

Coaching tips

Encourage the players to be creative and to find out what moves work best for them. Also, remind the players to dribble at speed while also keeping close control of the ball and they should be decisive when they take on a defender.

7. ROUND THE CYCLIC CONE DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The objective of the drill is to help the consistency and focus of the players when they are dribbling.

Set-up

A big cone in the center and at least 20 cones in a cyclic format around the big cone.

Execution

➢ When the trainer blows the whistle, the player starts moving inside the arranged cone with the ball.

➢ The player goes with full speed maintaining short touches on the ball.

➢ On getting to the big cone, the player must turn swiftly and start going out again with full speed.

➢ On getting to the starting point, another player should start the drill.

➢ The drill should be executed at an increasing speed as many times as possible.

Coaching tips

To be a good dribbler, consistency must be maintained under a little or big pressure. When dribbling into the cone, encourage the players to try to keep their eyes up when dribbling to build good habits and vision.

8. ROUND THE SQUARE DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The drill ensures that players stay alert to their surroundings to avoid losing the ball to the opponent. Also helps improve player’s connection with the ball.

Set-up

Four cones of different colors on each side of the pitch, the cones must be close, and each player must be standing by the cone.

Execution

➢ At the sound of the whistle, the player must start moving the ball with the inside of their foot within the cone.

➢ The drill must be executed at a fast pace.

➢ At the sound of the whistle, the players must switch to the other cone and start moving the ball with the outside of their foot.

➢ The coach must be there to give hasten up any player going slow with the ball.

➢ At every sound of the whistle, the players must switch intermittently.

➢ The drill stops when the trainer deems it fit; then other players can take turns.

Coaching tips

The coach must encourage the players to master using the inside and outside of their foot through this drill. Good dribblers know how to use the inside and the outside of their foot.

9. MUSICAL DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The drill helps the players to develops their dribbling and ball control skills in a fun manner. The activity also encourages players to maintain awareness and find the nearest cone.

Set-up

Set up a rectangular playing grid in no particular manner according to the number of participants you want. The cones should be lesser than the number of players; if there are 8 players, the tall cones should be 7. Each player with a soccer ball as the trainer prepares the music (whistle can be used as well).

Execution

➢ For this drill, the players should use their weaker foot to dribble.

➢ Every touch on the ball must be for one split second, not more.

➢ To start this drill, the trainer begins playing music or blows the whistle; then the players start dribbling inside the grid.

➢ Immediately the music stops or the whistle sounds, each player must dribble towards the nearest cone and knock it over with their soccer ball.

➢ Any player that couldn’t knock over a cone is out of the game; they can continue playing outside the playing area.

➢ Before starting the next round, players should reset the cones, and the trainer takes out one random cone so that there are more players than cones inside the grid.

➢ The ball must be dribbled everywhere inside the grid, and players must not stand still; otherwise, they are warned or disqualified from the game.

➢ The game continues in this manner until there is one player left inside the grid and is declared the winner.

➢ Repeat the game as many times as needed.

Coaching tips

Encourage the players to move to every corner of the playing area, and no one must be seen trying to target the nearest cone before the music is stopped. The stop of the music is meant to help the players awareness.

10. BULLDOG ATTACK DRIBBLE DRILL

Objective

The drill is made to be fun and enjoyable for young players to develop their dribbling skills. It will help players improve their ball control as well as their awareness.

Set-up

Set up a square or rectangular playing grid in no particular manner according to the number of participants you want. Each player inside the playing area is with a soccer ball. There is one player outside the playing area without a soccer ball; this player is the “Bulldog.”

Execution

➢ At the sound of the trainer’s whistle, the players begin dribbling inside the playing area. After 10-20 seconds, the 'bulldog' is released into the playing area. The bulldog will attempt to kick the soccer ball of the players out of bound.

➢ The players dribbling with the ball inside the playing area must protect the ball from the bulldog.

➢ Any player whose ball got knocked out by the bulldog goes out for few seconds and upon the sound of the whistle becomes a bulldog together with the other bulldogs and also attempts to knock out other players ball.

➢ The game continues in this manner until there is only one player left with a soccer ball.

➢ The last player that has their soccer ball is declared the winner, and the next round begins.

➢ Play as many rounds as needed.

Coaching tips

The players must do well to protect their ball using dribbling skills and proper body positioning, they must also use speed and sudden change of direction to get away from the Bulldogs. They must also look around to be aware of where the Bulldogs are.

The Rock Almighty - Incoming Trump Administration Fuels Small Business Optimism and It Is Written Indeed!

  • Author D Edward Levy

Small business plays a crucial role in the ecosystem of any modernized economy. In the US alone, it is estimated that 99% of businesses are considered small businesses and these entities power economic activity in business to business and consumer to business marketplaces. 2024 was a robust year for small businesses with 20 million business applications filed which set new records from previous fiscal years. Even with leaps in small business creation, optimism among small business owners has waned over the last few years with ongoing challenges and economic uncertainty fuelling the negative outlook. A recent change in governments in the United States has reversed the negative mood trend and sparked intense optimism as small business owners are hopeful the incoming Trump Administration can help spark business growth with the Republican Party’s pro-business agenda.

President Biden’s Administration and Small Business

In the final days of his administration, President Biden announced record small business applications which is definitely good news for the sector but the mood of owners and entrepreneurs alike paints a different picture of how The White House is viewed. President Biden oversaw some policies that some would consider anti-small business. Earlier in 2024, the FTC approved a ban on non-compete agreements which for small businesses innovators, is a death knell when it comes to protecting proprietary company information (FOX Business News). President Biden is letting certain tax cuts from the previous administration expire which may lead to more tax burdens for smaller businesses. But it’s not just policy that small business owners have issues with. Biden has come out publicly as a ‘small business champion’ but recent fact checking by The Hill has shown that President Biden’s policies and actions have actually hampered small business growth and created extra bureaucracy for the sector.

The Real Donald Trump

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) recently reported that their Small Business Optimism Index rocketed up 8 points to a 2 ½ year high of 101.7 in November soon after the US Presidential election which Donald Trump won. Mr. Trump is a polarizing figure in many respects but when it comes to business, his name is synonymous with success and achievement which independent business people can highly relate to. The Republican Party has always mandated less government regulation and a more pro-business stance that resonated strongly with entrepreneurs and business owners, positively impacting the overall mood. Small business owners are taking that optimism to the bank as the survey revealed that businesses that have plans to hire more workers rose 3%. Trump and the Republican Party’s branding hits the mark with a bullseye but Trump’s economic successes in his previous administration are still under debate. It remains to be seen if Trump’s actions will actually help small businesses but heading into the new year with a positive mindset is a powerful tool for entrepreneurs and owners.

Lingering Challenges for Small Business

Even with Trump’s freight train style of politics, there are stark realities that small business owners still face heading into 2025. The labor market for small business, especially in entry level positions, is not expected to improve with more workers seeking higher pay, flexible scheduling and other benefits not usually supplied in starter type positions. This poses challenges for small businesses that rely on unskilled labor or are customer facing, negatively impacting potential revenue generation and business productivity. Inflation is still a nagging problem for small businesses as operational costs continue to rise in the face of questionable global economics. Trump’s continued tariff threats will have a devastating effect on small business costs and could stifle further growth and innovation. Trump’s hyperbole may pull at the heart strings but 2025 will define the direction for small businesses under his administration.

The Bottom Line

Most businesses in the United States are considered small businesses and that holds true over most of the world. There is no denying the important role small businesses play in the overall economic picture but as of late, optimism has been waning as small business owners and managers face challenges in hiring, operational costs and inflationary pressures. In spite of unfriendly government policies, a record amount of small businesses were created in the US last year but the real mood of small business owners has flipped considerably since the election of Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Fresh optimism among small business owners has spurred hiring and investment but is the hype real? Mr. Trump’s name is closely associated with business and whether or not his policies will actually help small businesses is yet to be seen but in terms of branding. Donald Trump hits the mark right on target.

  • Author Ekua Botchwey

These two phenomena, humanity and ideology, clearly form our world, with one holding or being the matrix of the other. Truly, humanity is the origin of all ideologies. The ideas and systems that form the premise of every aspect of our lives as humans, our culture, beliefs, politics, society, economy, religion, and more. Where would therefore all our ideas and systems be without the human race?

In our 21st century, humanity is faced with challenging crises affecting every nation of the world, due to its own progeny, that is, the many ideologies we form from different regions of the globe. The human race, our qualities and characteristics as people (the state of being or showing compassion, love, kindness, or sympathy towards others, animals, or even the environment we live in), are being eroded every smallest unit of time by different ideas and systems that have been or are being developed by ourselves.

Ideology is the blueprint for making or unmaking a human race. Humanity, therefore, immured by various emerging ideologies that are crippling the freedom of human life and its existence, should be looked at and this such cancer removed before we lose ourselves and the generations to come. It manifests into shades, good and bad. Upon these two shades are what our basic existence as humans is run, the embodiment of our beliefs, principles, and attitudes that define or are attributed to persons or a particular group of persons seen to them as the right course to existence as far as we are humans. I am talking about ideologies like communism, environmentalism, black lives matter, artificial intelligence, islamophobia, feminism, liberalism, fascism, conservatism, white supremacy, anti-semitism, dictatorship, democracy, jihadism, racism, Zionism, nationalism, sexism, and more.

What makes an ideology good or bad?

The coups in the West African region, the Israel-Hamas war, the many assassination attempts on some presidents of some countries, and the mass immigration crisis that is swallowing Europe, the US, and the UK are some of the dilemmas the world is being faced with.

If an ideology lacks the moral capability and the essence to support the existence of human life, race, culture, and where it originates from, then we can clearly admit that it is a bad ideology. Interestingly, ideology in our recent times has found itself in many internal wrangles. For example, communism against democracy has deprived people's rights and resources to stand for the right course and even brought divisions amongst nations, who are supposed to have one vision of protecting our world and the human race.

Where is the wrangle between humanity and ideology?

The many ideologies formed all over the world, borne in conflicts, wars, racism, governance, gender inequality, religion, social justice, terrorism, genocide, international relations, criminology, and more, are prevailing evidence of how humanity is struggling to thrive in our time. The many different opinions held or practiced by some groups have eroded our common sense and responsibility to humanity. The need to come to an agreement to create policies, make investments, and unite the world against anything that has the potential to destroy humanity should be our focus. The wrangle now is that the supremacy of our ideas and principles we form to guide us as people and inhabitants of this planet has overridden our basic essence as humans. There is no love, empathy, or kindness for one another or the world. This is due to our individual selfishness and the hype given to the different ideologies we hold. For example, racism does not care about one's right to be treated equally, the fear of Jews and Arabs to live peacefully due to religious ideologies, the lack of concern for investing in climate change issues, and the need for global conflict resolution other than sponsoring wars. These are a few proofs of how humanity has been left struggling.

What do we do?

The United Nations’ summit of the future, September 2024, focused on the ways to sustain the human race and everything associated with it. The leaders of the world therefore need to come together to champion policies and systems that support the total safety of human life. Countermeasures should be established to systematically eradicate various ideologies that do not support our basic right to life and a safe future.

The world seems to be absentminded about how influential an ideology is, which has the possibility of gradually drowning humanity. Let's all wake up and stop this cancer before it leaves our world divided with conflicts.

I stand for the protection of the human race; love, peace, kindness, and empathy shown to all manner of persons, where humanity wins over ideology.

US Sports Track and Field Feat. Three Drills for Sprinters That Track Coaches Swear By and Alexis Holmes coasts to a dominant 400m win at USATF

Three Drills for Sprinters That Track Coaches Swear By

  • By Grant Young

Effective track and field sprint drills are absolutely essential for teaching young athletes, and here's why track coaches must prioritize finding the right ones for their team.

The most obvious reason is that drills are fundamental for instilling proper technique, which is critical for maximizing speed and efficiency. Sprinting mechanics involve intricate movements, and regular practice through focused drills helps athletes refine their form. This not only enhances performance but also significantly lowers the risk of injuries.

Another reason is that drills play a vital role in developing muscle memory. Through consistent repetition of specific movements, sprinters strengthen the coordination necessary for explosive starts and powerful finishes. This muscle memory allows for faster, instinctive reactions during races, often making the difference between victory and defeat.

And one less discussed aspect of utilizing drills when teaching sprinters is how they can help maintain motivation and engagement. Introducing variety through creative and challenging practices not only makes training more enjoyable but also fosters team spirit and camaraderie among sprinters. This supportive atmosphere can lead to enhanced collective performance.

Track coaches must recognize that effective drills are vital for cultivating the key ingredients for a sprinter's success on the track, and prioritizing these drills paves the way for athletes to reach their full potential and achieve greatness.

But it can be difficult to know which drills to prioritize. This is why we’ve pulled three drills from world-class sprinting coaches, which have helped them develop elite sprinters and can help do the same for you.

Kebba Tolbert - Wickets Drill

Kebba Tolbert is in his 14th season as the women’s sprints/hurdles and horizontal jumps coach for Harvard in 2024-25 and 13th as associate head coach of the squad.

Coach Tolbert lifted Crimson student-athletes to incredible heights during the 2023-24 season. At the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Coach Tolbert guided two Crimson to All-America Second Team honors, as Victoria Bossong placed in the top-10 in the 800m, while Chloe Fair finished in 11th in the 400m hurdles.

In Coach Tolbert’s ‘Training Design for Sprinters - Kebba Tolbert Harvard’ course, he discusses what he calls a wickets drill that he loves having all of his sprinters do on a weekly basis.

The drill begins with the coach setting up about 20 tickets, starting with them being about two feet apart but getting gradually more spaced apart. The sprinter starts by taking about four or five high-knees steps in order to build momentum then accelerates through the wickets, getting into their sprinting posture. Once they pass all of the wickets then they keep their same sprint speed for a few steps before decelerating.

The key component here is to ensure that the sprinter keeps their knees churning from the beginning to the end of the drill. They might have a tendency to look down and ensure that they’re not going to stop on the wickets, so coaches will want to ensure that the sprinter is looking forward and keeping a straight posture throughout the drill.

Chris Parno - 1,000 Step Drill

Chris Parno enters his 12th season as the Associate Head Track and Field Coach at Minnesota State University in 2024-25. Parno leads the men's and women's sprint/hurdle groups and serves as the recruiting coordinator.

While being led by Coach Parno, the maverick sprinters and hurdlers have experienced unprecedented success, rewriting the record books and establishing MSU as a sprints and hurdles powerhouse among Division II. On top of his coaching duties at Minnesota State, Coach Parno serves as a USATF lead instructor for the Level 1 coaching certification programs, while also instructing for the Level 2 and 3 certification programs.

Coach Parno’s ‘Sprint Drills - Chris Parno’ course details what he calls a 1,000 steps drill, which is essentially a banded a-run drill.

It begins with an athlete in a sprinting position with a thick elastic band wrapped around their waist. A coach or other athlete will be a few feet behind them, holding the band with both hands. When the drill begins, the sprinter will accelerate forward while executing high knees, as the person behind them provides resistance with the band.

The goal of this drill is for the athlete to get in as many steps as possible without necessarily pulling against the band. Instead, their aim should be to keep their sprinting form while the band forces them to keep driving their legs down into the track.

Ajamu Olaniyan - Plank Starts Drill

null

Ajamu Olaniyan is a three-time National Champion and a seven-time All-American in the triple jump. His collegiate achievements include being in the top five all-time nationally and never being ranked lower than second in the country for five years in the triple jump.

During his noteworthy coaching career, Coach Olaniyan has worked with numerous state qualifiers and athletes who have competed at the collegiate level. He continues to coach at the college and high school level and conducts clinics and camps in the Midwest.

Coach Olaniyan’s ‘Drills to Improve Sprint Performance’ course details his plank starts drill, which starts with the athlete in a plank position. From there, they will get into their set (start) position before their coach says go and they simulate getting off the block and the first few steps of their sprint.

Coach Olaniyan likes starting his athletes in a plank position because it forces them to accelerate forward before standing straight up, which is a common tendency for many.

Using mechanic-focused drills like these is a great way to instill positive habits into runners, especially when getting off the blocks.

US Sports Tennis: Two Top Priorities For Success in Doubles Tennis and Nick Kyrgios & Novak Djokovic Play Doubles TOGETHER | Brisbane 2025 Highlights

  • By Grant Young

Finding an effective tennis doubles strategy can be challenging for several reasons, despite it often seeming like a more cooperative and team-oriented format compared to singles.

1. Team Chemistry: Unlike singles, doubles require two players to work in unison. This means that good communication and a strong understanding of each other’s playing styles are critical. Players need to develop synergy, which can take time and effort, especially if they are not accustomed to playing together.

2. Strategy and Positioning: Doubles tennis involves distinct strategic elements, such as court positioning and shot selection. Players must constantly communicate their intentions and adjust their positioning based on their partner’s actions. This requires a level of tactical awareness and adaptability that can be hard to maintain, especially under pressure.

3. Specialized Skills: Doubles players often need specific skills that differ from those required in singles. For instance, effective net play is crucial in doubles, and mastering volleys, overheads, and quick reflexes can be demanding. Not all players excel at these skills, which can affect overall performance.

4. Psychological Pressure: The dynamics of doubles introduce unique psychological pressures. Players may feel responsible for their partner's performance or face tension during close matches. Mental resilience becomes essential, as does the ability to support each other emotionally throughout the highs and lows of the match.

5. Diverse Play Styles: Each player brings their unique style to a doubles match. When these styles clash or don’t complement each other, it can lead to confusion and ineffective play. Finding a balance between different approaches can be challenging, particularly if partners have contrasting strengths and weaknesses.

These factors illustrate the complexity of achieving success in doubles tennis. It requires not only technical skill but also a deep understanding of teamwork, strategy, and mental fortitude.

This difficulty is why it’s important that a tennis coach have their priorities straight when coaching. And very few can claim to know this better than Pete Collins.

Pete Collins is the creator of Successful Doubles, an innovative, easy-to-learn approach to playing doubles. He’s also an International Master Professional with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), which has honored him as Professional of the Year and Tester of the Year.

An accomplished speaker and instructor of doubles tennis strategy, Pete was Director and Head Tennis Professional at the Augusta Country Club in Augusta, Georgia, from 1974 until 2012, has served as a Professional Doubles Workshop Leader for the PTR, has successfully completed the USTA's Sports Science Competency Examinations, and has won numerous singles and doubles titles over his career.

Coach Collins’ ‘Successful Doubles I: The Core of Successful Doubles’ explains what he believes are the three biggest priorities when it comes to doubles tennis. We’ve taken the first two and provided them for your use below.

Priority 1: Executing the Split-Spring

Coach Collins’ first priority for doubles is being able to execute what he calls the “split-spring”.

He breaks this down into three smaller segments:

1. Being in a split, balanced standing position before the opponent takes their racket back on a serve, or when you hear your partner hit their serve.

2. Spring off of this split position, regardless of whether the ball is headed to you or if you’re hitting the ball.

3. Make sure that you deal in time, and not distance, when deciding which shots to take and where to place them.

The biggest key about this split-spring strategy is that it allows a player to cover the maximum amount of distance on their part of the court, regardless of where the shot takes them. It also forces a player to remain and regain their balance after every shot while staying prepared for whatever shot comes at them from their opponent.

Priority 2: Be in the Middle of Your Opponent’s Return Angle

null

Coach Collins also boils down his second priority for doubles tennis success into three smaller segments:

1. Be in the middle of your opponent’s return angle. What he means by this is the doubles players should be dividing the court into thirds, and as long as the ball is in the middle of the court, they should be standing along the two invisible lines that comprise the borders of each third.

However, once the ball moves to a different position, the players must move according to where the ball is headed so that the part that’s equidistant between them is right in the middle of where their opponent is when they return the ball.

While this might sound difficult, experience and communication about positioning before and during a match and at practice will be key in nailing this down.

2. Cover the ball third and the middle third. Going off of the first part, positioning doesn’t always need to encompass the entire court if the ball is at either end, because a player is never going to shoot a shot that does to the opposite side of the court. Therefore, each doubles player’s priorities are either covering the ball third or the middle third.

3. Flow with the ball. The ball is always going to inform you which way to move, whether that be sideways or vertically. But this will only be successful if both doubles partners are flowing equally, so that there are no clear openings for the opponent to take advantage of.
