Uncommon Protection

John 10:10

Considering how much the devil hates people and how dead set he is on destroying them, it's no wonder we see so much tragedy and disaster in the world. In fact, it's amazing that we don't see more!
I asked the Lord about that one time and He told me it takes the realm of darkness a long time to set up major disasters. Take the aviation industry, for example. It's highly regulated and works hard at policing itself because safety is its product. You take a highly regulated system like that and the devil has to work terribly hard to cause disasters.
He can't just come roaring in and rip things up any time he wants to. If he could, he'd knock every plane out of the sky tonight. But he can't do it.
Why? Because he's bound. The Bible says he's bound to things that are common to man. He has to line up certain things in this natural, human realm before he can lay a finger on you. He has to use people to get his work done.
But, bless God, we're not bound to what's common to man. We're free to use what's common to God! We fight our warfare with uncommon weapons. What does that mean? It means you ought to have the devil wrapped up and sewed up. You ought to put him in a sack with a ribbon on top.
The devil can't cause disaster in your life unless he has been given place. He can't come in and start destroying and stealing from you unless he can get you into a place of sin, doubt, ignorance or disobedience. So if he's been giving you trouble, ask the Holy Spirit to show you where you've let those things in. Then repent and get rid of them.
Once you've done that, pull out the weapons God has given you and fire away with both barrels. Pull out the Word. Pull out prayer. Pull out faith and use it to tie the devil in knots. Use the uncommon power of God to keep him bound and he won't be able to put anything over on you.

Strength Coach Shoulder Compilation and On-Ice (Hockey) Conditioning Plan

Shoulder Compilation

Michael Boyle -
In our article compilations we've covered hips, hamstrings and core training so, to keep the ball rolling, I've added a shoulder compilation. Available free to StrengthCoach.com members....
Eric Cressey- Shoulder Savers Part 1- this might be one of my favorites from Eric. I think as Eric has learned more he has gone into greater detail but after re-reading this, most of the info still resonates with me.
Eric Cressey- Shoulder Savers Part 2- much like part 1, this 12+ year old article is still pretty good. I'll be more than happy to add some additional links if people can link me to better stuff?
Andrew Paul- Strength Coaches Guide to Shoulder Training - I don't love the exercise choices ( a few are outdated ) but, the long anatomy section makes this 60 page ebook worth it. Just read it with a grain of salt.
Charlie Weingroff on the Podcast- this is a Strengthcoach Classic Episode that has Charlie going into some progressive ideas for shoulder rehab. A must listen or a must re-listen.

On-Ice (Hockey) Conditioning Plan

Joel Jackson
I put together this on-ice conditioning plan for the coaching staff of both teams that I work with here at the University of Alberta.

What I was finding to be one of the main problems here was with the injured guys. For example we currently have a player that underwent surgery for a broken finger. He is obviously unable to take contact and do much skill work, but still is able to skate at a high intensity. What this turns into is him getting onto the ice for the tail end of practice and one of the coaches sh*+ bagging him for 15 minutes. My purpose is to try and educate them on how important rest periods are for the intended purpose of the conditioning, whether it is with an injured guy or just general conditioning for the team.

This will be a bit of a work in progress for me so I am sure I will add to, change things, etc over the coming month/years, but thought I would share it with you guys either way.

Chris Beat Cancer Featuring: Is a glass of wine per day healthy? And What Foods Cause Constipation, Really?

What Foods Cause Constipation, Really?

By: Wan Yi

There are too many foods labeled as "constipating" by different conflicting theories. This article discusses eight categories of examples, briefly:

1. Foods stripped of their dietary fiber. Examples: wheat and rice polished to sparkling whiteness. Fruits that are processed into meltingly sweet drinks. This theory is favored by the mainstream medical community.

2. Foods containing dietary fiber eaten excessively. This is propounded by people who do not believe in the lack of dietary fiber as a cause of constipation. Human carnivores would love this theory.

3. Foods containing opioid peptides. Examples are wheat - again, and milk therefore dairy products. Cancer patients who need to rely on opioid pain killers experience constipation as a prominent side effect which is very difficult to relieve even by prescriptive laxatives and stool softeners.

4. Foods containing beta-carbolines. Cooking and processing food produces beta-carbolines. People who believe in this theory would think that cooked meat and vegetables can make them constipated. What is left for them to eat is raw fruits, meat and eggs.

5. Foods taken excessively at the wrong time. For example: taken in moderation, banana promotes bowel movements; taken excessively, banana is constipating. Some mothers who give more bananas than their babies could handle would know this. It is even said that women can become temporarily constipated when they eat bananas during late nights. Too much snacks and later super can confuse the biological clock to the extend it doesn't know when to "let go".

6. Beef. People who think opioid peptides and beta carbolines are constipating believe fresh raw beef relieves constipation. To be pragmatic though, only hunters and butchers can obtain such freshness. That's why there are people who believe raw or rare beef may contain parasites that can cause constipation. On the other extreme, well-done beef is hard on the digestion. Beef is better served medium or medium rare.

7. Wine. In the West, wine helps to digest the notoriously constipating cheese. In the East, wine is frowned upon by traditional Chinese medicine when a constipation sufferer has the following symptoms:
dry stools, little amount of urination which is dark, abdominal distention with tenderness, flushed cheeks, preference for cold drinks to quench thirst, bad breath, vexation, feverish, red tongue with yellow and dry fur plus rapid pulse. To a Chinese physician, this is accumulation of heat in the stomach and intestines, a possible consequence of boozing and greasy food. This heat impairs circulation of body fluid, drying up the intestines and resulting in constipation. Wine is said to aggravate the symptoms.

8. Unusual Chinese theories : eel, dog and snake meat can worsen the constipation of a patient with too much accumulated heat as stated above. Other offensive foods are: garlic, onion, mustard, pomegranate, apricot, cherry and coconut.

There are many caveats to the above list of foods that are said to cause constipation. What is constipating to one person may not affect another person. Individual health condition must be taken into consideration; while majority would agree on most of the foods mentioned here, a patient of celiac disease would them to be a cause of the opposite effect, diarrhea. By the way , these are definitely not suggestions for a person who is having diarrhea. Overall, a discussion of constipating foods helps to highlight the fact that eating right to suit personal needs is a science by itself.
