Tell Me Something, Just Where Are You At In Life Or Your Career?
By: Stan Lewis

There are so many lost people in the world who do not really know where they are in life. There is no mentor, Christian life coach, leadership coach or anyone else to guide them. Of those who are aware of where they are in life, there are multitudes that are not at all happy with their present location in life. That leads me to ask several questions. Are you lost or do you know what your life’s address is? And if you do know your address, is it the address that you want?

If you are feeling lost, I must ask – do you know how valuable you are? You are extremely valuable and it does not matter what the world or anyone else says. It does not alter the “fact” that you are valuable. Lost or not, it is you who determines your personal address. Your present address might read rjones@valueless.org, johnsmith@donotfindme.com or Alicia@hopelesslylost.biz.

You have to first realize that you have value and that you “must” seek out and develop the gifts that make you special. Next, you have to want to be found. Unless you want to be found and rescued, chances are that you will never be found. It is a choice that only you can make, so please make the choice to be found and rescued. After that you have to put forth the effort to be found and rescued. Wilderness survival guides tell us, that if we are lost, to put up or lay out a signal so that others may see it. This way rescuers will know that you are lost. At this point, someone can come to your rescue. The same is true if you are lost in life. You need to let people know, so that they can come to your rescue. So put in the effort and put up or lay out the necessary signals to attract the attention of responsible mentors or Christian life coaches. There are several Christian life coaches who can help you if you are lost among life issues. A good Christian life coach can change your address from rjones@valueless.org to rjones@valuableone.org or from that of johnsmith@donotfindme.com or Alicia@hopelesslylost.biz to that johnsmith@foundandonthemove.com or Alicia@ontrack.biz.

Now to the questions of if you know your address and if this is the address you want to be at. Let us take the first question. Do you know your address or does it presently read pj@idonothaveaclue.org? I teach orienteering to boys and young men. They are able to find there way by using a compass and a map. However, before they start – they must know where they are and where they want to go. The same is true in life and the business world. In order for you to get anywhere, you must know where you are and where it is that you wish to go.

So where are you at? Being at jose@whereami.biz is not a good starting place. So first things first, take some time to sit down and evaluate where you are. Take into account where your passion is, your talents/skills, and your education/training. It is important that you take the following to heart: • Your passion is what motivates you. What you are excited about doing and drives you to do more each time you act upon what you are passionate about. • Your talents and skills are your special gifts which can help you advance and act upon your passion. • Education and training will enhance both your passion and talents/skills. Once you have an understanding of these things, you will know where you’re at in your life.

Once you know where you are – jose@hereiam.biz - you are ready to tackle the last question – where is it you want to go? First determine what you want to do with your passion in terms of your career and/or your life. Set specific steps you want to take to get where you desire to be. Take these action steps one at a time. As you accomplish each step, it will motivate you to take the next step and the next until you have arrived at your goal. You will need to determine the best way to apply your talents/skills to assist you in bringing about your goal. Part of your action steps should be how you are going to use your talents/skills to bring about your goal.

You will also need to improve upon your talents/skills through training and/or education. A good mentor or accountability partner that has been along the road that you want to travel can be a big help. Likewise a Christian life coach or leadership coach is also extremely helpful. A good coach, with the skill to guide you, can take you where you are passionate about being. If your passion is positively and correctly feed, then you will increase the probability of finding the happiness and fullness in life that you desire. Your address might then read something like moses@theredseacom, peter@therock.biz or paul@thegreatcommission.org.

By desiring to be found (by a mentor, life coach or leadership coach), by determining where you are and by taking a well planned journey you will likely be quite happy where you will find yourself. You will have answered the questions – am I lost, where is my life’s address, and is this where I want to be? The only thing is to be diligent and consistent in keeping with your action steps and goals. Diligence and consistency along your journey will lead to the right answers which will bring you success. And who knows, your personal address may yet read success@howdoyoulikemenow.com.

Minding Your Business-Key Marketing People in a Digital World

Presented On US Sports Net By Yahoo Small Business!
By: Sallie Leblanc

Fifteen years ago, when a business decided to invest money in advertising, typically this meant buying ad space in a newspaper or magazine, creating print mail ads, or buying air time on the t.v. or radio.

But that was then, and this is now. Unless you have been living under a rock, most of us realize that advertising has moved from traditional, to the completely fast-paced digital world of social media.

The internet has been a game changer. So what are the rules to this new world of digital advertising world, and how can business stay competitive? It can all be very overwhelming, especially if you are just starting a new business, or you are lacking the man power or time to fully invest in digital marketing. Digital marketing, unlike traditional marketing, does have one huge flaw unlike traditional advertising. Digital Marketing is extremely time consuming! And to really do it right, you cannot do it on your own.

But before panic ensues, I am going to try to break it down into a few easy steps, in hopes that I can somehow relieve your anxiety. Think of it as "Social Media Marketing Help 101". There are a few key people who can manage your business in this digital world, and make your business a powerful player on the internet and in the social media world. These are not ALL the people who work in social media, rather the four key players who can launch your business.

#1) The WEBSITE company

Yes, it is obvious, but you must have a website to do business today. Businesses without websites might as well not even be open.

Think back to the days of yellow pages. If your business was not listed in the yellow pages fifteen years ago, there was a good chance Mrs. Jones was not going to find your air conditioning service when her A/C unit blew out in the 100 degree summer. Well it is the same thing with the internet. No website= no business. You cannot have one without the other.

But many of you are taking the cheap route and hiring just about anyone to create a website. Yes, we know who you are! You are the one who hired your college kid's friend to throw up a website, and then this same kid disappeared and left you high and dry with a website that is still dated with a December 2009 calendar. While December 2009 might have been a good month, it is doing nothing to help market your company. Possible client's assumed you went out of business and moved onto the listing underneath you.

And a bad website design can actually hurt your business rather than help it.

Lesson: Invest in a well designed website run by a real company from day one. Trying to take the cheap route will cost you more in the long run.

#2) The SEO Optimization Specialist

SEO, what? SEO, who? Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving your ranking on the internet so your website shows up at the top of a search page. Basically this means when you do an internet search for, "Pet Stores, San Diego, CA", an SEO specialist can help your link for "Susie's Reptiles and Fuzzies" show up higher than "Doug's Dog's and Cat's" . You are more likely to be found and receive business.
SEO optimization is tricky, and time consuming. There are many rules for how to rank high in Google, and many times the rules change.

So how do you find an SEO specialist? Today most website designers are also SEO specialists, so make sure when purchasing your website, you are also comfortable with their SEO capabilities.

Lesson: The common person does not have the time or energy to play the SEO optimization game, nor do they care. Get your website guy to do it, or contract it out.

#3) The VISUAL's company

I realize I lost you many of you on this one, but stay with me. Your Visual company is the people or company you hire to enhance your website through visual elements. Your Visuals company would include your commercial photography, as well as your video. As most of you should already know, consumers are visual!

Yes, I know, I know, many of you think you are photographers because you bought that high-tech camera down at the Big Box store and you can do some really funky stuff on Photo Shop, but I am sorry to tell you, you are not a photographer!

And, if you insist on buying those cheap generic stock images just to fill in the website space, how does the consumer really know you are a real company and not just some random person in a foreign country who threw up a website?

Recently I posted an ad on craigslist for a website designer. I got multiple replies from professionals who had active websites, but these websites were almost all text, splattered with some cheap stock images of office buildings. As I looked closer, I realized their "Contact Us" section had a 1-800 number. And as I looked even closer, I realized there was a possibility this company was not even in the United States, and was most likely in India.

Professional photography can never be replaced by amateur photography or cheap stock images, which can make a company look small or fake.

"I see so many people who try to take the cheap way out when doing their photography," said Sallie LeBlanc, owner of Visual Advantages, LLC, a commercial photo and video production company in Dallas-Fort Worth, www.visualadvantages.com , but they always pay for it in the long run, either by losing customers, or by having to re-shoot later with a real professional."

Your visual company will partner with your website designer to finish your website, and make it stand out from the other thousands of other websites. Professional photography can engage your customer, create a brand, and can even make a small company look huge!

Now let's talk about video. Statistics show that the more engaged your customer becomes in your website, the more likely they are to become a customer. With video, you are not only engaging your customer, but you are teaching them! Many times it is hard to explain a product or service over the internet, but video can bridge the gap between a consumer quickly clicking though your site, and one that is actively learning about you and what you can offer.

Lesson: Consumers are visual. Professional photography and video can make your company's website or social media look stellar, as well as engage your customer. Don't whip out your digital camera or camcorder, or plug up your website with cheap stock images. Leave the visual elements to the professionals, and develop your brand.

4) The Social Media Manager Ahhh, Social Media Manager! A title of a person who did not exist so long ago. A title you may not even recognize.

Social Media Managers are the ones who continually update your website so consumers do not think you went out of business. They write your blogs, tweet for you on twitter, run your Face Book, and stay up to date on your competition. They may also create polls on Face Book, or organize live events. Your Social Media Manager may even take on the role of PR Rep by writing Press Releases, on occasion.

Social Media Managers are the cohesive unit between your live business, your website, and all your social media outlets.

But many people put social media on a back burner, thinking it secondary, and hand it off to an intern or friend with no vested interest in their company.

Recently I was on the Face Book page of a local restaurant who posted that that they had a "buy one, get one free lunch special" coupon on their website . All of the Face Book fans flocked to the website lusting after that free plate of pasta, only to find an expired coupon from a year ago. A restaurant employee later told me their Face Book fan page was being run by a student, in another state.

Lesson: Invest in a Social Media Manager if you do not have the time to tweet on Twitter, post on Face Book, or blog your little heart out. This can be a full-time position for larger companies, or for small business, this could simply mean a small monthly fee for a contractor who is off site but dedicated to promoting your brand.

Also, I would highly recommend finding someone local, who keeps up with current events in your city, rather than farming the job out to a telecommuter. And sometimes your website guy may try to take over this role, but it is better to let him focus on what he does best, the technical side of your website and SEO !
OVERVIEW

Social Media Marketing may be new territory for most businesses, but with the right people in place, you can be an active competitor. Most businesses will never reach their greatest potential until they are actively optimizing their social media.

If you make the time to find the right people to create and manage your website, SEO, visuals, as well as social media communications, it will be time and money well spent.

Once you have these companies and individuals in place, be sure and introduce them to one another. Together they can be a well oiled machine that can drive your business to the next level.

Therapy For Police Officers Featuring: Irrational behavior under stress and Work Life Amalgamation

Irrational behavior under stress The behavior of first responders under stress can appear to be very irrational. Here, in my Mental Management of Emergencies class I am explaining how the behavior of a police officer defies all logical explanation. Even those who can guess the outcome often cannot explain how it happened. The explanation comes from understanding the way the brain learns and recalls information in high-stress, high-consequence environments. [Video Below] What to know the outcome, go to www.SAMatters.com, sign-up for my newsletter (It's free!), then contact me through the link on my home page and I'll be glad to share with you what happened, and more importantly, WHY it happened.

Work Life Amalgamation
By: Melissa Heisler

There is a lot of talk about Work-Life Balance. Individuals and experts talk about ensuring that work does not consume one’s life and that we take extra effort to ensure that our personal life is given enough time and focus. But I have come to see that Work-Life Balance is a misconception.

Trying to balance our work lives and our home lives supposes that these lives are separate and mutually exclusive. Do we become someone different at work or do our preferences, beliefs, and desires exist at work as well as when we are sitting amongst friends and families at home? If we are out with friends, are we incapable of recognizing information which could be helpful on the job? We are one singular being at work and at home. We are the absolute same person in both situations. I think we should stop thinking of "balancing" these seeming dichotomies and instead look at "amalgamation." To amalgamate is to combine into a unified or integrated whole. Work and life should not be balanced but united.

Being a life coach, I see so many individuals who are unhappy with their work. They feel trapped. They feel stuck. They feel that their job is sucking the life out of them. They put up with 40 to 60 hours of work hell for the few meager hours a week where they can live the life they love. I believe these feelings are due to a perception that they need to become something different at work. That they need to check their personalities, wants, and needs at the company door. And this is what many people do. They are one person at home and then when they enter the workplace they stuff that person into the bottom drawer of their cube with their lunch and their purse until the end of the day. The key to happiness is not ensuring that we have a few hours a week where we do the things we enjoy, but to begin claiming that same joy wherever we are.

What if instead of loving the few hours a day away from work when we can enjoy the things that give us pleasure, that we uncover how to have pleasure no matter the circumstance? What if we rediscovered that we are not imprisoned by our jobs, but that we always have a choice and in that choice there is the power to find joy? Stand up for yourself right now. Reclaim your individuality at work. Find ways to empower and release your true being in every situation. Stop believing that you need to unplug yourself when you take on the role of worker. You may be surprised. By freeing and satisfying your inner needs you will find that you are not just more happy at work but more productive as well. And you might just find that the people you thought would reject or attack you for being yourself may actually embrace the new you. Begin today to merge your life with your work. Find ways to live your passion on and off the job. Obtain not balance but the merger of your work and life.

POWER TO CHANGE INTO A BRAND NEW PERSON

by Taffi Dollar

Have you ever had a day so bad that you wished you were someone else? Many of us may have felt this way after going through a situation that left us feeling discouraged and disheartened. Perhaps we made so many wrong choices that we began to compare ourselves to someone else who seemed never to make any mistakes, and we wished we were more like them. Changing what we don’t like about ourselves is possible, but not through our own self-efforts.
When we identify something about ourselves we want to change, trying to enact that change through our own efforts is like fighting the forces of inertia. By ourselves, we can quickly become discouraged and give up, but asking God for His help brings real results. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). Any real and lasting change requires a shift in thinking, first. God’s will for us is to be able to change for the better; trusting Him in this area allows Him to begin the process.
If we’re struggling with selfishness, anger, bitterness, pride, or some other negative emotion that’s affecting our relationships, we don’t have to accept those qualities as simply part of who we are. God wants better things for us, and He gives us the power to change into a brand new person. Acknowledging that we need Jesus Christ in our lives, and accepting Him as our Lord and Savior, gives us a new start. “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT).
Once we accept Jesus, studying God’s Word reveals increasingly deeper levels of knowledge that help us embrace the transformation taking place in us. As new creations in Christ, learning how to think differently is a gradual process. “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24, NIV). As we learn a new mindset that agrees with what God says, our attitude improves, and people begin noticing the positive changes in our behavior.
Everyone makes mistakes, but we don’t have to get stuck on them by dwelling in the past. “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18, 19). We don’t have to be stranded in the wilderness of failed relationships, and our past behavior no longer has to define us. We can move forward in life and accept the joyful, happy relationships God sends us.
The changes God wants for us are like a breath of fresh air, and they empower us to succeed. Right-living starts with right-believing, and when we trust God to change us, it becomes obvious that He is the one working in us. “This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes” (Psalm 118:23). The power comes from Him.

Storm Outlast Rattlers, Advance to United Bowl

Matt Hinshaw/AZ Rattlers

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers (11-4) lost to the Sioux Falls Storm (12-3) by a score of 69-68 at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona in front of 16,479 fans. This loss ends the Rattlers season, and the Storm advance to the 2018 United Bowl in Des Moines, Iowa.
It was a back-and-forth game that saw several lead changes, as the two teams traded scores throughout the game. A missed field goal by Arizona led to overtime. A blocked extra point following a Rattlers touchdown became the difference, as the Storm were able to score and convert the point after to escape with a one-point win.
The decision to run the clock down and kick the field goal didn't work out for the Rattlers, but Head Coach and General Manager Kevin Guy stands by his decision.
"That was our decision to manage the clock that way," Guy said. "I would manage it the same way again if we had to do it again. We're not going to second guess ourselves. At the end of the day we got to execute as players on the field."
It was another close loss for the Rattlers, who lost all four games this season by a total of 11 points. Coach Guy thought a lot of his players made some big plays, but the mental mistakes are what kept them from finishing the game.
"At the end of the day, we just weren't mentally tough enough to finish the game off," Guy said. "We lost four games by a total of eleven points, and that speaks to mental toughness. We were just good enough to get beat."
