GAMES TO GAINS: EPISODE 9

Presented on US Sports Net By BPI Sports!

James: This is the first time you’ve ever cooked vegetables?
Kerby: Well, this is the first time I’ve ever cut raw vegetables.
James: The first time you’ve ever chopped them.
Kerby: Ya.
James: You look like a pro, dude. Well… maybe not like a pro, but you’re doing alright.
The more time that he spends with James, the more Kerby is starting to feel like South Florida is his home. And the more James is starting to care about Kerby’s overall well-being.

James: So today was shoulder day in the gym and Kerby kind of had a long face.
Kerby: When I moved down here, I met a nice couple through Airbnb and I’ve been living with them ever since then. They’ve basically been my family down here. The husband is the roommate that’s been letting me borrow his car to take to and from work. But now he actually moved out and left, so…
James: One, now Kerby doesn’t have a car anymore, so he’s back to Uber. And two, it puts him in a situation where he probably has to find a new place to live again. Kerby’s on a bit of a rollercoaster. He’s got a lot of great things going for him, but for every great thing he’s got, he’s got some hurdles he’s got to work through.
Kerby: Things keep getting thrown in my path, and I keep having to overcome them, but I’m not gonna let it get to me. This is where I’m supposed to be and I’m not gonna give up.
Despite everything going on in his life, will Kerby be able to stick with his training schedule? Watch the full episode above to find out.

GAMES TO GAINS: EPISODE 8

Presented on US Sports Net by BPI Sports!

In this week’s episode of Games to Gains, James Grage starts off by complimenting Kerby on all the progress he’s made. By sticking to his nutrition plan, the training program and the supplement schedule that James provided, Kerby has not only put on muscle, he’s improved dramatically in the gym.
James: It used to be that anytime I would ask you to lean forward, that’s where you got all crazy. The neck and the head would start doing weird things. Now you just look really solid and in control.
Kerby: Ya, it feels good when you ask me to do something to actually be able to do it.
Then, the conversation takes more of a personal turn.
James: You’ll never guess who I talked to this week.
Kerby: Who?
James: I’ll give you a couple of guesses…
Kerby: Jay Cutler?
James: No.
Kerby: Can you give me another hint?
James: A woman.
Kerby: A woman… hmmm. I don’t know!
James: Your mom.
Kerby: My mom?! Dang! How did that go?
Without Kerby knowing, his mom had reached out to James earlier in the week:
Charlotte (Kerby’s mom): James, Kerby doesn’t know I’m calling you. He would be mad. But hey, I just wanted to personally thank you for taking initiative in Kerby and just doing the things you’re doing. I mean, you see what we see, and not too many other people see it, so I just wanted to thank you. He lost his sister at 22 in a car accident, and Jim (Kerby’s dad), as you probably know, in the last year and a half he survived stage three throat cancer. So Kerby had a few pretty big hits.

After that conversation, James made a point to tell Kerby how proud his parents were of everything he’s accomplished and everything that he’s doing right now. Not just anyone could pick up and move across the country. Why? Because of fear. So many people are afraid to fail, but when you really think about it, failure is nothing to be afraid of. You just have to realize that you’re going to fail a lot in life, but that’s what makes you stronger and better and smarter.
Watch the full video above to hear James delve more into this topic.
