BSU Bowling Places First at CIAA North / South Event II
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – In their first team event of the New Year, the Bowie State University women’s bowling team placed first at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event II held at the Bowl America bowling alley.
The Bulldogs tallied 11,007 total pins which included 3,641 pin count in Baker System Scoring and finished with a record of 11-1 during the weekend. Junior Diamond Carter (Buffalo, N.Y.) led the way with an average of 167.40 for 5th place individually. Senior Chantel Farlow (Columbia, Md.) ranked second in team scoring average (155.60) and fellow senior Shannon Weaver (Fort Washington, Md.) was third with an overage of 155.00. Farlow and Weaver ranked 13th and 15th respectively among all bowlers.
Virginia Union University was second overall with 10,996 total pin falls and ended the weekend with an 8-4 record while host Virginia State University finished third overall in the North with a record of 7-5 and a total pin count of 10,956. Elizabeth City State University placed fourth overall with 8,853 total pins (3-9 record) and Chowan University rounded out the northern field in fifth with 9,260 total pins (1-11 record).
The Bulldogs will return to the lanes on Feb. 9-11 in Raleigh, N.C. for the CIAA Event III hosted by Saint Augustine’s University.

Northern France provides some of the best golf courses you will ever find in the entire world. After playing in over 30 countries all around the world, it is obvious that my favorite course still remains as Cote d'Opale, which is not far from London. A few hidden gems can be found since the area has many renowned courses. Below you will find five of the top choices for Northern France Golf Courses:
AA Saint Omer Golf Club This course is perfect for players of any level and has quite a bit to offer. With different tees, anybody can find the right length from a touring pro to a beginner just taking the game up. The beauty is found with lush forests, on this course, along with the great views and rolling terrain. You will get to hit your driver plenty, but you do want to be careful with the approach shot, as many greens are protected well. You can also choose to stay at the amazing three-star hotel that overlooks the final hole at the AA Saint Omer course, which will become one of your favorites after you play. Hardelot Les Pins This one of my favorites hosts the French Open qualifying round. I have been playing this course since I was a young child and it still looks great today. You will need to choose between risk and reward on many holes and you may be able to cut corners with your driver, but be careful of the three-level greens. A favorite of many this bright and gorgeous course provides a great golf holiday for anybody wanting to travel to Northern France. Le Touquet La Mer Le Touquet La Mer provides a challenge for all golfers from the first hole to the final hole. Perfect for all golfers, this type of course will may, however, not be the most forgiving at times. Do you want to know the secrets to a successful round of golf? Start by warming up properly, plan each shot, and don't get too greedy out on the course. This course is perfect if you like a quaint type. It is a link style course with the feeling of being close to home. He is called the beast and he earned it. Arras Golf The ladies play here often for the French Open and this course is a favorite of many. You start with a nine filled with water and finish with one that gives you plenty of chances to scores. This is a hot course that many love. A nice hotel in this historic city will allow you to enjoy your stay. A great value can be found within an hour of Calais when you choose to play at Arras Belle Dune Golf Club This course isn't an easy course and if the wind starts to blow, you may miss how beautiful it is because of the challenge it presents. You will be right in the middle of some of Europe's nature reserves and this makes for a great walk through your round along with the great design of the course. Even though this is a smaller club, it has made great progress over the years. The most charming Northern France golf is certainly found at Belle Dune. British golfers don't have any excuse because these courses are only a hop, skip, and a jump from England. You can take a golfing weekend for three or four days or even spend a full summer in Northern France. Either way, a trip to this area is necessary for all golfers. |

The general requirements in order to become a law enforcement officer are to *Obtain a POST ID (Peace officer Standards and Training ID) *Attend a training academy for law enforcement *Take necessary certification tests and become certified as a peace or law enforcement officer The amount of education you need to become a law enforcement officer varies as the career themselves. Some college experience is enough in becoming a police officer, while a undergraduate bachelors degree is necessary to pursue a career as an FBI, DEA, ATF or Border patrol agent. Many agencies and departments urge their employees to pursue a degree in criminal justice or obtain a post high school education. Courses in criminal justice include but are not limited to criminal justice, humanities, ethics, police organization, administration, leadership development, analytic reasoning, and communications. It's very important to keep in mind that it's important to complete and get your high school diploma. If not, continue forward in your education by getting your GED. You can do so by your local adult education center. None the less, it's always better to acquire some years or a four year college education. The most attractive elements about working as an officer and in the criminal justice field are the routine and scheduling. The possibilities are almost endless with a career in criminal justice and enforcement of laws. A typical day for someone who works in different fields of law enforcement varies depending on the career path you pursue. Generally an enforcement officer may work in the office cubicle of the agency or more exciting in the field. An officer may encounter things differently everyday from keeping a watchful eye on citizens during a political convention, tapping into a phone call of a fugitive or pretending to be a young girl online to lure a pedophile into a sting operation arrest, assisting with a riot or preventing a terrorist crime from happening. Why we can worship even when life’s not great
Have you ever stood in a worship session at church, your lips mouthing the words to the songs, but your mind distracted by a gazillion problems you’re facing?
Maybe it went something like this: “I’ve had such an awful week. I’m really tired and I just can’t sing.” Or, when you’re really in the pits: “My life is falling apart. My marriage is just beyond saving. It’s been six months and I’m still unemployed. I need help…”
But here’s why we can worship the Lord even when life’s not great: We can trust that His lovingkindness will prevail, and we will triumph and overcome through Him (His Word says so—check out Psalm 117, AMP).
This really happened to David, the beloved psalmist of Israel who was best known for his sweet times of worship. Whether in times of great fear, utter dejection, or deep heartbreak—as David worshipped the Lord, He healed his heart and turned his situations around.
At one of the lowest points of David’s life, when he was hiding in a cave after feigning madness in front of an enemy king to save his own skin, he sang: “I sought the Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4) By the end of Psalm 34, David is so convinced of the Lord’s goodness: “The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.” (Ps. 34:17, NLT)
In fact, about four hundred men in distress, discontent, and debt had gathered to him in that cave. As they saw David visibly restored with hope, they were restored too. They eventually became his mighty men, who did great exploits!
And in David’s old age, when his own son Absalom tried to usurp his throne, he sang these words, likely in tears—“But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.” (Psalm 3:3–4) He didn’t have the heart to send his troops against his son. But God fought on his behalf—He allowed someone in Absalom’s camp to give him unsound advice, thereby foiling his coup.
It’s not that we worship the Lord to get something from Him—but rather, as we magnify His beauty, great power and compassion for us through anointed songs of worship—our problems can’t help but become smaller, and faith rises in our hearts to believe for our breakthroughs.
Today, we can worship the Lord with words like “What a beautiful Name it is / The name of Jesus” (What A Beautiful Name, Hillsong Worship). Words like, “Oh, my soul / You are not alone / There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know” (Oh My Soul, Casting Crowns) for the fearful times. And words like, “You took my sin / The just for the unjust / You made me yours / Through Your redeeming blood” (Finished, New Creation Worship), when you need to be reminded of the Lord’s finished work.
