NORFOLK, Va. (February 23, 2021) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women’s basketball weekly honors where Howard University freshman Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) won the league’s rookie of the week award. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.

In both contests at Coppin State (Feb. 20-21), Howell scored double figures against the Eagles. Saturday, she recorded 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from long range, while adding 10 points in Sunday’s victory.

This season, the New York native has played 11 games with four career starts.

Sophomore Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.) and newcomer Anzhane’ Hutton (Cedar Hill, Texas) each received honorable mention.
