Bowie State Track and Field Show Strong Effort at Winthrop Adidas Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Bowie State University women and men’s track and field showed a strong effort at the three-day Winthrop Adidas Invitational (3/23-25). This was the second outdoor meet of the season for the very young Bulldogs. 

The women and men’s teams combined for seven top 10 individual finishes and two top 10 team finishes.

Sophomore Kayla Tucker was Bowie State’s top women’s finisher, placing 7th in the 800 meter with a time of 2:19.81.

Freshmen De’Sha Manago and Alana Hunt placed 9th and 10th respectively in the women’s discus with throws of 34.11m and 33.23m.

Senior Alisha Grant finished 10th for the Bulldogs in the women’s javelin, going 35.69m.

As a team, the Bowie State women’s 4x100m relay team placed 7th out of 13 teams, crossing the finish line at 49.59. The Bulldogs recorded a time of 4:09.28 in the women’s 4x400m, placing Bowie State 9th in the event.

On the men’s side, sophomore Frank Bailey was Bowie State’s top individual finisher, placing 7th in the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 15.88. Bailey also competed in the 400m hurdles and finished 15th (1:02.61). Junior Indeo Ragsdale was a participant in the 400m hurdles, finishing 11th overall (59.03).

The Bulldogs had two participants in the men’s 800m Developmental and freshman Ikpefua Olumese came away with a 9th finish (2:03.30) while sophomore Markese Miller placed 12th (2:05:06) in the same event.

Sophomore Robert Thomas competed in the 800 meter and finished in 11th place with a time of 1:58.25.

Junior William Edmond rounded out Bowie State’s top 15 finishers, placing 15th in the shot put with a heave of 12.58m.

The Bulldogs return to competition on Saturday (April 8th) in their own Bowie State Classic / Alumni Invitational.
