What is a Good Beginner's Workout Routine?
By: Carol Fellman

The time has come when your motivation and desire for a strong, healthy body are moving you to look for a good beginner’s workout routine. This seems like it should be simple enough but with all the information out there you may find it a challenge to find what works best.

Checking out you local gym could be your first step. When you arrive you will probably find a group of people, all who seem to know what they are doing. Then you have to face the wall of mirrors that lines every workout room which seems to be reflecting back everything you do not know about working out. You may ask yourself why you are subjecting yourself to this. The answer is simple. The obvious gains you will enjoy from working your body.

If you undertake a weight lifting program, you can expect to strengthen your muscles, tendons, and ligaments. You will also find improvement in your overall fitness level, a strengthening of you cardiovascular system and you can expect to shed some pounds.

The formula for strengthening and toning your body is to use lower weights and do higher repetitions. Using higher weights with lower repetitions is more effective if you would like to build muscle mass.

When beginning a workout routine there are two common mistakes that are made that can lead to diminished results and to a good chance of being injured. These mistakes are performing the exercises improperly and using too much weight. So when just starting out you want to be sure that you’re using the appropriate amount of weight and that you find out how to do the exercises correctly.

When working out, doing all your exercises with a slow controlled range of motion is very important. You will be creating more muscle tension which produces more force leading to more activation of muscle fibers. This ensures the strengthening of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that you are looking for and creating less trauma to these same tissues.

The key to starting a good beginner’s workout routine is to educate yourself on acquiring the skills to exercising properly. This allows you to set more realistic goals and achieve the results you are looking for. There are many good programs available and this author recommends you spend some time looking around for the program that works best for you before you don those shorts and cinch up the sneakers.

For a complete guide to a good beginner's workout routine I recommend an excellent program, No Nonsense Muscle Building. This program offers all the information you need to begin and progress in your workout along with a nutritional guide to maximize your strength training routine.

What is usually a raw food nutrition?

By: Raymond Gillen

A uncooked foods diet regime is one which promotes the consumption of uncooked food items. Raw food, which include fruits, vegetables, meats, nuts, seeds and herbs, are food items eaten in their organic, unprocessed, uncooked point out. If an individual's uncooked foodstuff consumption consists of 75% to 100% of their general entire foodstuff consumption, then he or she is typically deemed to be practicing a natural meals diet. Proponents believe a eating habits of refreshing and uncooked food outcomes in greater health and fitness benefits when compared to your diet regime largely consisting of cooked and or processed food items.

Proponents advocate a natural foods weight loss plan with the following primary reasons:

o Uncooked food contain a greater level of nutrients compared to cooked food items. Fruits and vegetables incorporate their highest level of nutrients just right after they are really harvested. Nutrient reduction begins after harvest, continues through transport and storage and may greatly accelerate depending to the cooking strategy employed.

o Uncooked food, like fruits and vegetables, are higher in antioxidants which enable forestall certain cancers.

o Cooking different food items can end result in vitamin and mineral losses of as much as 70% to 80%. In common, slightly more exposure food stuff has to light, heat and oxygen (cutting foods exposes them to nutrient loss); the worse away from food stuff is from a nutritional standpoint. Boiling food normally leads to probably the most nutrient reduction.

o Uncooked items include increased amounts of enzymes. Enzymes are largely proteins, complicated chains of amino acids, which catalyze or improve the pace of chemical reactions for example people involved in metabolism and digestion. The raw neighborhood typically believes that enzymes are destroyed at temperatures over 116 degrees Fahrenheit, or 47 degrees Celsius, and that consuming natural goods discharge beneficial enzymes within the mouth and stomach prior to digestion.

o For each the Nationwide Cancer Institute, scientific studies have proven that cooking meat, in particular grilling meat, can generate damaging chemical poisons, which include heterocyclic amines (or HCAs), which can be not present in uncooked meat. These chemicals, including HCAs, may boost the risk of creating cancer. Particularly, studies have proven that HCAs boost threefold when cooking temperatures are above 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 204 degrees Celsius, temperatures usually related to barbecuing, grilling and frying.

Uncooked goods is usually prepared and eaten in numerous approaches. Obviously, recent goods could be eaten uncooked correct immediately after they are really harvested. Juicing numerous combinations of fruits and vegetables is additionally a well-known option for consuming recent food items. Natural diets also include the utilization of a dehydrator. Meals dehydrators use two fundamental aspects through the food stuff drying method; warmth and air. A typical dehydrator contains a heating aspect and a fan and vents for air circulation. A food stuff dehydrator's heating component and fan get the job done in concert to eliminate moisture from meals. Because the warmth warms the food, its moisture is released and evaporated in the air. Food dehydrators are ideally suited instruments for your preservation and storage of foods. Uncooked food items supporters dehydrate at temperatures at or beneath 116 degrees Fahrenheit, or 47 degrees Celsius, making sure that important enzymes usually are not destroyed and nutrient reduction is minimized.

Addictions Impact Mental Health And Success

By: Emma Viglucci

I’ve had an interesting coming together of influences this week to inspire today’s topic (in the end only a minor detour from our Editorial Calendar). I had a request to write about addiction, and of course today is World Mental Health Day… So, I’ve decided to combine these and write about them in our usual context… [If you are in immediate need of assistance, please refer to the Hotlines provided here]

There are a number of addictions that impact our Journey. The most common addictions that you might be familiar with, and possibly even have in your own life, include:

Substance Related Additions – Illicit Drugs, Prescription Drugs, Alcohol, Food, Nicotine, Caffeine, Sugar

Behavior Related Addictions – Gambling, Internet, Gaming, Shopping, Plastic Surgery, Sex & Love, Codependency, Risk Taking, Anger, Exercise, Work

Yes, I’m adding Codependency as an addiction… This has also been called "Relationship Addiction"… In a nutshell, this is when a partner is so focused on the other partner’s wellbeing that they lose sight of taking care of themselves, and they have a difficult time changing this pattern of behavior… Most of my writing has this lens as an underlying theme… I usually cover this from the angle of not Owning Ourselves and Loving Too Much… And, even have a simple test to determine if one loves too much – you can get it here: 40 Signs that You Love TOO Much

Addictions alter the functioning of the brain and hence impact Mental Health, some are even considered a Mental Illness themselves, and frequently they are co-morbid, co-occurring, or dual-diagnosis with other Mental Illnesses (anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, OCD, and so on)… Addictions and Mental Illness are very intricately connected sometimes making it difficult to determine if either is the cause of the other… They affect brain structure (refer to the image below) and levels of neurochemicals affecting overall functioning and wellbeing.

The main neurotransmitters affected include:

Serotonin – associated with regulating body temperate, sleep, arousal, appetite, mood, pain
Dopamine – related to experiences of pleasure and the reward-learning process
Norepinephrine – helps moderate stress response
When our Mental Health (brain) is impacted, everything in our life is impacted…

We are born with a basic brain organ that continues to develop as we grow. It is actually not fully formed until our early 20s (Brainstorm)! The interactions, experiences and lifestyle we have growing up impact how our brain forms, develops and functions… This in turns informs our personality, gifts, skills, perceptions and pretty much everything else about us.

Addictions have been associated with attachment injuries and trauma (less than perfect parenting…) growing up, which impact the development of the connection center in the brain and the ability to self-regulate… This has obvious implications for relationship success…

Thankfully, the brain doesn’t stay static – it has neuroplasticity which means we can further develop it, enhance it, change it, and even heal it as desired. This is amazing news because we are not stuck with the brain we have (The Brain Warrior’s Way)… Whatever has been the negative impact on our brain can be corrected.

Below is an image of brain scans conducted by Dr. Amen, psychiatrist, brain expert and founder of the Amen Clinics, that show a healthy brain and afflicted brains. Believe or not, he has demonstrated that the afflicted brains can pretty much go back to looking like the healthy one!

We can reverse any developmental and lifestyle negative impacts that have affected our brain. This means we can biohack our brain for relationship and life success!

So, where do we start? We start with the basics – self-regulating to begin rewiring, rebuilding, and further developing the parts that plays such a significant role in how we feel, connect and show up in our life…

Self-regulation can be tackled from so many angles… A basic and very accessible way is through Lifestyle changes… Sleep, nutrition, exercise, self-care, mindfulness practices and the like are key elements for creating Mental Health… Hence all the focus in my writing on building great daily routines with powerful wellness, connection and success habits…

It’s never too late to fix your brain and create your best life!

Assignment: If you know you want to have your best life – live a long, healthy, productive, impactful and joyous life, then you have to do what it takes to make that happen… Are you willing to do that? Or, are you ok settling for mediocracy? If you’d like to join me in creating our best life, then the first step is in identifying what in your lifestyle is messing with your brain… Then, create a plan to remove that – replacing it with a better Habit to help with your Discipline around it… And, finally is putting the pieces in place to support implementing your plan. Have at it, and have fun!

If it was easy to have a World Class Life, everyone would have one… Will you do what it takes to have yours? Decide now, and go for it!

Complete the Assignment, and share your takeaway, insights, and results with a note in the Comments box at the end! I’d love to hear how you are using this content.

Happy Fixing!

Being beloved children of someone with unlimited power and authority sets us apart from everyone else. It gives us certain rights and privileges that remind us that we’re uncommon. If we’ve been born again, we’re no longer mere mortals because our identities have changed. We’ve become children of God, with the same supernatural power as Jesus Christ.

As many as receive Him, to them He gives power to become sons of God, even to those who believe on His name. As God’s children, we’ve been called to live above what goes on in the natural world while still living in it. We’re not to think like everyone else, or fall back on the “I’m only human” excuse. We can be bold sons and daughters of God, because as He is, so are we in this world.
We have God’s unconditional approval and acceptance, and we base our identity in Him. We have the same authority and right to command as He has. This was always God’s plan from the beginning when He made man, both male and female, in His image. He didn’t create us to put up with issues in life, but to dominate them.
Our divine identities are only possible because of God’s grace; under the law, there was no opportunity to be a child of God. Moses was God’s faithful servant, but still a servant. Servants operate by the law; sons operate by grace. Servants sweat to earn their masters’ approval; sons know they’ve already received it.
God publicly voiced His approval of Jesus and affirmed Jesus’ identity as His Son on more than one occasion. He does the same for us when we accept Christ and believe in His finished works. When trouble shows up, we no longer have to talk to God about our problem; we now talk to our problem about what God has already done. Acknowledging who we are in Christ frees us from all limitations.
    Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You gave us the opportunity to be transformed from ordinary people into Your children. Our identity as members of Your family makes us special, and reminds us how much You love us. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

    Summary

In the biblical sense, most people do not realize what money should be used for. As a result, they strive for it above anything else. The world attaches great importance to material wealth and uses it as a yardstick to measure people’s worth. The truth is that financial riches are simply a tool to accomplish what is really important, which is spreading the gospel. God knows we need money, and He promises to bless us abundantly with it when we trust and obey His Word. Our vision should be focused on the things of God, not on getting rich. Wealth should never replace Him as our true source, and when we seek Him, abundance will flow.
    1. Wise money-management includes planning for the future.
      1. And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? Give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? For my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses (Luke 16:1-4).
        1. It is interesting to note that the steward was not too ashamed to steal, yet he was too ashamed to beg. He had not saved up any money for his future.
      2. So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, how much owest thou unto my lord? And he said, a hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. Then he said to another, How much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness, that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations (Luke 16:5-9).
        1. The steward was commended for having the presence of mind to use money as a tool to secure his future.
        2. Sometimes Christians do not save money for themselves and future generations as wisely as the rest of the world. The rest of the world saves up for retirement and puts money aside for their children and grandchildren. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children (Proverbs 13:22).
      3. We should handle money according to the 80/10/10 rule.
        1. Live on eighty percent of our income, tithe ten percent, and save ten percent.
        2. This would force us to live within our means and take a close look at how we spend money. We may even adjust our lifestyle to be more financially prudent.
      4. Financial prosperity should not be our goal. It is a byproduct of seeking God.
        1. When we use money to help others and spread the Gospel, we will be greatly welcomed in heaven.
        2. We must focus on the things of God, and we must not divide that focus. A house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25).
    1. We must not confuse our priorities or focus on the wrong things.
      1. Our focus must be on seeking God, not on getting rich. Whatever we focus on the most is the thing to which we give strength.
        1. The light of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be filled with darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:22, 23).
        2. He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him (Proverbs 28:22).
      2. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4, 5).
        1. When we have thoughts about money that do not line up with the word of God, we have the authority to cast them out.
        2. Even before we focus on God’s desire to bring money our way, it is important to have the right attitude about finances. This helps us reconcile financial prosperity with grace.
      3. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things that are before (Philippians 3:13).
        1. Paul focused on the things of God. He did not divide his attention between God and the things of the world.
        2. The quickest way to destroy a person’s vision is give them two visions. We cannot accomplish our goal if our attention and resources are divided.
    1. Godly prosperity affects our entire lives, not just our finances.
      1. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10).
        1. It is fine to hold down a job, but we must see work in its proper perspective. God’s plan for financial freedom does not rely on the natural results of work.
        2. Our work and our efforts are not the source of the money we see. We are under grace, and this grace is the source.
      2. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth (Ephesians 4:28).
        1. The purpose of work is to be in a position to help others in need. This is what it means to be a blessing. God blessed Abram so that Abram could bless others and prevent misfortune in their lives (Genesis 12:2, 3).
        2. He who gives to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay (Proverbs 19:17).
      3. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33).
        1. The world’s way of operating financially is not the same way that God operates. The Scriptures tell us exactly what to focus on.
        2. Giving financially involves the same kind of trust a farmer has when he plants seed in the ground, trusting that he will eventually reap a harvest.
        3. God’s way to achieve financial prosperity and man’s way are completely different. God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). His thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8, 9).
        4. God’s kind of prosperity is a result of faith. The highest form of giving is to help share the Gospel.
      4. And God is able to make all grace, every favor and earthly blessing, come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient, possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation (2 Corinthians 9:8, AMPC).
        1. God is well able to provide the grace and financial sufficiency that we need. When we give, He will increase favor in our lives because we trust Him.
        2. His promises certainly include charitable donations, but those promises are all-inclusive and do not stop at just money.
        3. We receive by faith. Faith can be seen through our confident posture. The centurion who asked Jesus to heal his servant demonstrated his faith through his words (Luke 7:1-10). The woman who asked Jesus to heal her daughter also spoke her faith (Matthew 15:21-28; Mark 7:25-30).

Saint Augustine’s Johnson-Cash trimmed the Bowie State lead to 53-52 with 3:36 remaining in the game but that’s as close as the Falcons would get for the rest of the game.
Bowie State will be idle until returning to action on Saturday (January 25) in a pivotal conference clash on the road at Lincoln (Pa.). Game time is 4 p.m. in Manuel Rivero Hall.
