Winston-Salem State Wins in Straight Sets Over Bowie State



RICHMOND, Va. – The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs (1-7, 1-2 CIAA) closed out the weekend with a three-set loss to the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams. The Lady Rams took the win, 25-21, 25-6, and 25-15 at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round Up on Sunday (9/14) morning.

Sophomore India Mason (New Orleans, La.) and junior Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) paced Bowie State’s Lady Bulldogs with four and three kills respectively on a combined 32 attacks. Sophomore Brooke Archer-Simpson (Bowie, Md.) recorded three kills on seven attacks to go along with all nine assists and two service aces.

The Lady Rams (3-4, 3-0 CIAA) totaled 31 kills with just 11 attack errors while holding Bowie State to just 13 kills. Winston-Salem State also added 10 service aces in the match as well. Jenna Baranowski led the way for the Lady Rams with eight kills in the match. Olivia Owens added seven kills while Sydney Holland added a team-high five service aces and led the team with 10 digs.

Bowie State returns to action on Thursday (September 18th) at Virginia State. Match time is 6 pm in VSU’s Daniel Gymnasium.
