The Rock Almighty Devotional, Praise, and Worship with Novella

November 15 from CDM

“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).

Trusting in money can lead us down the wrong path; Jesus warned His disciples to put material wealth in its proper context. Greed causes us to lose focus on what’s really important in life—people.

When governments collapse and human philosophies fail Rediscovering the Kingdom will become your guide through the treacherous storms of the 21st century. As Dr. Munroe unveils the reality and the power of the Kingdom of God, you will be challenged to the core of your religious soul as you discover realities that few have seen, let alone talked about.

Ten Ways to Respond to God’s Grace (Part 2)

Summary

Grace has made everything we need in life available to us. This came about because of the finished works of Jesus; now, all we need to do to lay hold of the blessings is to believe. However, although faith is the proper response to what He did, we must ask ourselves how to break it down and specifically apply faith to our lives. The motives behind our actions are important; there is nothing wrong with works as long as they are works of faith and not of the law, in an attempt to earn favor from God. We accomplish nothing by trying to do what Jesus already did; instead, we put our faith to work by meditating on God’s Word until we find the place of peace in which He wants us to be. It is real work to continue meditating on Jesus’ finished works and refuse to be moved out of our peace, especially when we feel the pressures of the world. However, this is the only work God expects from us.
  1. We do not need to duplicate what God has finished. God wants our faith, not our works.
    1. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified… I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain (Galatians 2:16, 20, 21).
      1. We cannot gain the provisions Jesus has already made for us through self-effort; we must have faith in what He did.
    2. Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent” (John 6:29, NLT).
      1. Our belief should not simply be an intellectual mental assent; we must have a way of authenticating our faith.
      2. We need to know what it looks like to believe.
      3. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).
      4. …Be not afraid, only believe (Mark 5:36).
    3. Faith is our positive response to what has already been done.
      1. Healing, deliverance, victory, and everything else pertaining to life and godliness have been finished; however, each of these things requires a response.
      2. The devil has already been defeated and the battle is now over; the only fighting that remains is the fight on our part to maintain the victory Jesus has already obtained for us.
      3. To stand in our victory, we need to renew our minds. If we do not, we fall back into the world’s traditional way of thinking.
      4. Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye (Mark 7:13).
      5. Faith does not move God; it moves us. Faith takes possession of what grace has made.
  1. If we believe God loves us, we can receive what He has done for us. Love is His nature.
    1. The first way to respond to the finished works of Jesus is to believe in the love God has for us.
      1. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love (Galatians 5:6).
      2. This differs from the Old Testament commandment which focuses on us loving God.
      3. If we do not believe God loves us, we will not believe in any of the things He said He has made available for us.
    2. And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us. Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God: And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us (Deuteronomy 1:25-27).
      1. Religion tells us that the bad things that happen to us are because God is displeased with us. This causes us to question His love for us.
      2. If we think God hates us, we will not accept what He wants to give us.
    3. The second way to respond is to make a decision to believe in Jesus’ finished works. A decision is an open door into reality.
      1. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world...Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief (Hebrews 4:3,11).
      2. Our belief brings us to that place of rest; rest authenticates our faith.
  1. We keep Christ on our minds by meditating on God’s Word. Our thoughts are powerful.
    1. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all (1 Timothy 4:15).
      1. The third way to respond to grace is to rest in all our works. Part of laboring to rest is meditating on God’s Word concerning Jesus’ finished works.
    2. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3).
      1. Keeping our minds on Christ can be labor. The promise is that He will keep us in perfect peace; this requires trust in Him.
    3. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:7, 8).
      1. The most powerful thing we can do as Christians is to think. Therefore, we must be careful what we think about.
  1. Worrying is the wrong response to grace. Being at peace authenticates our faith.
    1. That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? (Matthew 6:25, NLT).
      1. To worry is to meditate on the wrong things.
    2. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (1 Peter 5:5-7).
      1. When we continue to worry after God tells us not to, it is a sign that we are operating in pride. This hinders His grace. The humbler person submits to what God says to do.
    3. We validate our faith by speaking it.
      1. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy (Psalm 107:2).
      2. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak (2 Corinthians 4:13).
      3. This is the spirit of faith: what I believe, I speak.
      4. …for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh (Luke 6:45).
      5. Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways (Job 22:28).
  1. Speaking our faith and trusting God are also ways we can affirm Jesus’ finished works.
    1. That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus (Philemon 1:6).
      1. The fourth way to respond is by acknowledging and admitting that what grace has provided is real and true.
      2. When something becomes effectual, it begins to work.
      3. “Communication” in this context means to transfer or release. We release our faith by acknowledging the good things God put in us.
    2. The fifth way to respond to what Jesus did is to give thanks for the finished works of grace.
      1. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
    3. Correctly responding to grace impacts every area of our lives.
      1. The sixth way to respond is to decide to be content, regardless of the circumstance.
      2. The seventh way is to trust and rely on God.
      3. The eighth way is to release our authority. Authority is the right to command.
      4. The ninth way is to posture ourselves to be led by, and to hear from, the Holy Spirit. He is the administrator of the new covenant.
      5. The tenth way is to spend time loving God through praise and worship.

iHealthTube Featuring: Know What Non-GMO, Natural, and Organic Really Mean! And With Organic Foods on the Rise, Food Safety Issues Become a Bigger Concern

Those labels are used on so many products these days, and the marketing campaigns behind them make us think they are all healthy! In this video, David Getoff explains what all three really mean and what guidelines producers must follow to have those labels on their product.

With Organic Foods on the Rise, Food Safety Issues Become a Bigger Concern

By: Kathleen Hill

Because the popularity of organic foods have been rising dramatically since the 1960's, food safety regulations have intensified regarding the production and sale of these naturally grown foods. Technically, the growing of organic foods should exclude the use of any non-organic chemicals which are meant to prevent the emergence of diseases on food crops. Insecticides and fungicides are routinely sprayed on non-organic food crops which are very susceptible to such blight, but organically grown foods are not.

What is not commonly understood is the fact that there are particular chemical sprays that are permitted to be used on organic food because they fulfill organic standards and policies. Nicotine sulfate is one such chemical approved by the FDA. It comes from tobacco and will poison insects or other small mammals which attempt to consume organically grown food treated with it. Extracted from chrysanthemums, pyrethrum is another chemical regularly used in organic farming which kills insects and is considered one of the safest chemicals to use. In addition, the natural pesticide mineral sulfur has been used for hundreds of years to prevent fruit rot, blight, and mildew, while also repelling certain insects and spider mites. Occasionally, sulfur is utilized as a preservative for fruits, since they tend to decay fast and lose their appealing color.

The USDA is in charge of certifying organic foods and adheres to stringent guidelines, such as declaring whether a product is at least 95% organic before allowing such labels as "organically grown" to be put on the food product. In the United States, it is manufactured in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act (OFPA) adopted in 1999, and disallows any food that is genetically modified to be labeled as organic. Organically grown food can also apply to livestock, and appropriate regulations are also enforced to ensure that the meat produced is organic and naturally grown. Antibiotic or growth hormone used on organically raised livestock is prohibited, and these animals must be allowed access to pastures where they can graze on naturally growing grass rather than kept in stalls and fed synthetically treated grain.

Issues with food safety have caused many people who are wary of an overabundance of pesticides on their food to turn to organically grown foods. But other than being safer to eat, are they really more nutritious than conventionally-grown foods? Several experiments have pointed to the possibility that there may actually be no critical difference in the nutritional value of organic vs non-organic. However, when referencing the amount and type of pesticides used on these foods, a discrepancy occurs which indicates that organic may indeed be safer, since certain artificial chemicals such as food dye, have been implicated in certain kinds of cancers. However, while natural foods are viewed as a better food choice for a person's health, this perception may not be wholly correct, due to the fact that foods deemed organic may in fact contain a certain amount of pesticides allowed by the FDA. Organic foods also have a decay rate that is more rapid than non-organic foods and may lead to higher incidences of food poisoning.

Police Activity Featuring: Bodycam Video Captures Shooting After Woman Grabs Officer's Gun

** (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) ** Las Vegas, Nevada -- Body camera video has been released detailing the chilling call a 7-year-old placed to officers.

The 7-year-old called the Henderson Police Department saying his mother was attacking him with a knife. In the video, the mother can be heard in the background giving dispatch their address and rambling. The confused 911 operator tried to understand what was going on, but was disconnected before dispatch could get anymore information. When police arrived to the home, the boy, who was covered in blood, stumbled out of the door.

An officer entered the apartment and began struggling with the mother who was incoherent and armed with a knife. The mother, who was later identified as 37-year-old Claudia Rodriguez, somehow got a hold of the officer's gun and fired a shot. At least three gunshots were fired, and at least one of the bullets hit Rodriguez, killing her. The 7-year-old was taken to the trauma center where he underwent emergency surgery. He is expected to survive.

HELPING COACHES TO HELP KIDS
Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame member, Gary Blair, led Texas AandM to the 2011 NCAA Championship and has transformed the women’s basketball program into a national power since his appointment as head coach in 2003.
Blair, a two-time national finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award, has guided Texas A&M to 14 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, and to four conference championships, including the 2013 SEC Tournament Championship.
Blair led the Aggies to their first national title in their first-ever trip to the NCAA Women’s Final Four and closed out the 2010-11 season with a 33-5 record, the most victories in program history. The Aggies were voted as the No. 1 team in the coaches’ poll following the season, the first time Texas AandM stood atop either poll in women’s basketball.
With Blair at the helm, the Aggies have made seven appearances in the Sweet Sixteen and reached the Elite Eight in 2008, 2011 and 2014. In 2018-19, the Aggies went 26-8 and reached the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year.

Entering 2019-20, Blair ranks sixth in career victories among active Division I coaches with an impressive 791-322 overall record (.711). Blair is a five-time recipient of the TABC Texas Coach of the Year award and a six-time conference coach of the year.
In his 17th year (2019-20) at Texas AandM, Blair is the longest-tenured coach in program history, also owning the school records for wins (383), winning percentage (.707) and NCAA Tournament Appearances (14). Blair has more than doubled the win total of Lynn Hickey, whose 154 wins marked the school’s previous record for a coach.

He leads or co-leads all active SEC coaches in career wins, career SEC wins, 20+ win seasons, NCAA Tournament appearances, Women’s Final Four appearances and national titles.
The women’s basketball program won its first SEC Championship in 2013, knocking off three ranked teams to capture the league crown. The Aggies captured the regular season Big 12 Conference Championship in 2007 and continued with postseason championship titles in 2008 and 2010 before departing to the SEC. In his career, Blair has coached his teams to 17 conference championships.
Over the course of his 34-year collegiate coaching career, which includes stops at Stephen F. Austin from 1985-93 and Arkansas from 1993-03, Blair has led his teams to 33 winning seasons, 28 20-win seasons, 25 NCAA Tournament appearances and 39 NCAA postseason victories. Blair has won a championship at every level of his coaching career including three state championships at Dallas South Oak Cliff High School, two national championships as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech, a WNIT Championship at Arkansas and a national championship at Texas AandM.
Blair previously led the Lady Razorbacks to the 1998 NCAA Final Four and the SFA Ladyjacks to four NCAA Sweet 16 appearances. He has followed that path of success by elevating Texas AandM into one of the nation’s elite programs where he has put together a 383-159 record (.707) after 16 seasons in Aggieland, including 14 consecutive 20-win campaigns since 2005-06. Under Blair, AandM has registered an unprecedented 213-45 (.826) overall success record at Reed Arena. Book this course......

Victory over Shame.....

.......From CDM
We can all recall times when we felt ashamed, either because of a particular situation or a mistake we made. Shame is a sense of failure in someone else’s eyes. It can cause us to see ourselves as failures, and make us want to run away and hide. It’s excruciating and emotionally painful; however, shame isn’t God’s will for us.
Shame ties us to our past and keeps us from receiving God’s favor. Jesus went to the cross to take away shame from us by taking it onto His own body. He gave His back to the smiters and His cheeks to those who plucked out the hair; He didn’t hide His face from shame and spitting. God helps us; therefore, we won’t be ashamed.
Shame is tangled up with fear; it can only control us and define who we are if we’re afraid of it. This evil emotion first surfaced in the garden of Eden after Adam and Eve sinned and became afraid of God. They heard Him walking in the garden and hid themselves. When God called out to them, Adam admitted he was afraid.
God hates shame; its destructive nature traps us in fear and holds us back from moving on in life. He offers encouragement for those of us who suffer from it: “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame…” God’s Word in this area has real power over shame. We’re set free from it when we trust in how the finished works of Jesus destroyed it.
Shame also lies to us by making us feel rejected, unloved, and unworthy. God will always love us and never reject us, no matter how many mistakes we make. He made us accepted in the beloved, redeemed us through His blood, and forgave us our sins, according to the riches of His grace. There’s no undoing what He did.
Prayer:
Lord, You hate shame so much that You sent Your Son to die on the cross to destroy it forever. When we have faith in this, shame loses its power over us. Thank You for what You did.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

DAN JACKSON
ASSISTANT HEAD COACH / SPECIAL TEAMS / CORNERS
Daniel Jackson was elevated to cornerbacks coach in 2014 after serving as a defensive and recruiting assistant for the Jackrabbit football program the previous two seasons. Jackson added the duties of recruiting coordinator following the 2016 season and also directed the team’s punt return unit since the start of the 2016 campaign.
Under Jackson's guidance in 2017, South Dakota State held six opponents to under 200 yards passing during the 2017 season and forced at least one turnover in all 14 games. The Jackrabbits bring a streak of 15 consecutive games with at least one takeaway into the 2018 campaign.

During the Jackrabbits’ playoff season in 2012, Jackson helped mentor a secondary that allowed only nine passing touchdowns, while intercepting 13 passes. As a squad, the Jackrabbit defense ranked fourth among Football Championship Subdivision programs for pass efficiency defense at 100.33. SDSU also ranked fifth in scoring defense (16.38 points per game) and eighth in total defense (305.3 yards per game).

SDSU made a return trip to the FCS playoffs in 2013 behind an opportunistic defense. The Jackrabbits ranked second nationally with 22 interceptions, including a team-high four pickoffs from cornerbacks Winston Wright and Je Ryan Butler. Wright went on to earn third-team All-America honors from the Sports Network. SDSU also ranked fifth nationally with 33 turnovers forced and a plus-1.1 turnover margin per game.

Jackson was recruited as a linebacker following an all-state career at Omaha Burke High School and played briefly with the Jackrabbits in 2004.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Disciplining the flesh. For many believers that phrase stirs memories of frustration and failure. They know it's important—the Word of God clearly teaches that. But they're not sure exactly how to go about it.
Some have given up, shrugging off such discipline as impossible. Others are still fighting stubbornly to get their flesh under control—and losing one battle after another.
But it doesn't have to be that way. In fact, we can't afford to let it be that way. It will cost us too much.
You and I are blessed to be part of the generation that will see the signs and wonders which the prophets of old wished they could have lived long enough to see. We will witness the Spirit of God poured out upon all flesh. But sin hinders the Spirit's flow. And only as we rid ourselves of it will the power and glory of God be manifest through us. Only then will we experience the glorious things that are prophesied to take place in our generation.
So put your past failure behind you. Make up your mind that you're not going to let the sins of the flesh rob you of the glory of God. It is possible to step out of the sin you've struggled with so long and live under the Spirit's control. Look to Jesus...He will show you how.
