Learn What it Means to be Born Again

Notice, briefly, first, what that astonishing NEW Message was!

The pre-announcement, in Malachi's prophecy, says: "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek [the Messiah], shall suddenly come to his temple, even the Messenger of the covenant ... " (Mal. 3:1).

Now notice the beginning of the Messenger's proclamation of that Message.

It is recorded in Mark's Gospel, chapter 1: "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; as it is written in the prophets...." Then follows the citation from Malachi, written above. That is followed by the account of John the Baptist, preparing the way for the Messenger.

Then, verses 14-15: "Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of god, and saying, 'The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel.'" That is, BELIEVE the Good News!

What IS the Kingdom of God?

What did He mean - the Kingdom of God?

Jesus' whole Message - His Gospel - was about the KINGDOM OF GOD! Yet few know anything about it, today.

A Kingdom is a), a NATION composed of people, and b), the GOVERNMENT of the nation.

In some cases, the people of a nation are the descendants the children - of one man. The nation of Turkey is the descendants of the ancient Esau, twin brother of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, father of the nation Israel. Before the twins were born, God said to their mother, Rebekah, "Two nations are in thy womb ..." (Gen. 25:23).

Now Jesus the Messiah was to come as the "Messenger of the COVENANT." The "Old Covenant" had established the human children of Israel as a NATION or KINGDOM of humans, called the KINGDOM OF ISRAEL. Jesus came as the Messenger - heralding the Message of the NEW Covenant that shall set up the Spirit-composed children of GOD as the Kingdom of God!

As the ancient Kingdom of Israel was composed of the human FAMILY of the human man Israel, so the Kingdom of God will be composed of the divine family of the divine GOD!

And what does this have to do with "being BORN AGAIN"? It has everything to do with it!

DANIEL FORETOLD IT

The Prophet Daniel wrote of this Kingdom of God. In his second chapter, after foretelling of the Chaldean Empire (Babylon), the Persian Empire, the Graeco-Macedonian Empire with its four divisions, and the Roman Empire, stretching into the now-forming resurrected "Holy Roman Empire" in Europe, we read the following: "And in the days of these kings [the forthcoming United States of Europe] shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed ... but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever" (Dan. 2:44). To "stand forever" it will, of necessity, be a Kingdom of IMMORTALS, not mortals.

It will be a WORLD RULING Kingdom!


Daniel's 7th chapter portrays it again - and shows the connection with being "born again". The four world empires - Babylon through Rome and its coming resurrection in Europe - are pictured as four beasts - wild animals.

Saints Become Immortal

Verse 17: "These great beasts, which are four, are four kings [kingdoms], which shall arise out of the earth. But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even for ever and ever." To possess it FOR EVER, the saints have to be IMMORTAL!

Then the Babylonian religious power, now Roman, "made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; until the Ancient of days [Christ at second coming] came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom" (verses 21-22). Read also verse 27.

The second coming of Christ is described thus: "And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, 'The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever'" (Rev. 11:15).

Yet in spite of these and many more scriptures, m ]iiany deceived theologians today mislead the people saying that the CHURCH is the Kingdom of God! Or, that "the Kingdom" is some ethereal nothing "in men's hearts."

Jesus said, "The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand."

What did He mean? WHY had this Message never been proclaimed before? The answer requires a pre-history background.

There Was Once PEACE on Earth

It isn't popular, today, to mention the existence of a devil. But the Bible, again and again, puts great emphasis on the presence of a real, literal devil.

Biblical revelation shows that originally, this earth was a place of PEACE, happiness - a real utopia. It was then ruled by the GOVERNMENT OF GOD. That Government will be once again RESTORED (Acts 3:20-21) by Christ returning to earth in the supreme POWER and GLORY of God!

But what happened? WHY don't we have that Government now? Why is there no PEACE on earth?

When the earth was originally created, the angels shouted for JOY! (Job 38:7). It was beautiful. It was PEACEFUL. It was populated by angels - not then by humans. It was governed by the GOVERNMENT OF GOD. There was a super arch-angel - a cherub named Lucifer (meaning bringer of LIGHT) - one of two cherubim whose wings stretched over the very throne of God in heaven. Lucifer was thoroughly trained in the administration of the GOVERNMENT OF GOD (Isa. 14:12-14; Ezek. 28:12-17).

God governs by His spiritual Law - a Law based on the principle of LOVE. Love, first, to God with submission and obedience, and secondly to His creatures - the way of outgoing concern for the good and welfare of others. But Lucifer's heart was lifted up in vanity, because of his beauty and vast knowledge. He rebelled against God, mutinied, set out to organize his angels into an invading army and to conquer GOD - in order to rule the entire vast UNIVERSE. This disqualified him as earth's ruler. However, the very principle of God's Government requires that the ruler retains office until a successor qualifies and is inducted into office.

Lucifer's name was changed to Satan, the devil. His angels became demons. As a result of this universal rebellion on earth, universal destruction and chaos struck the surface of the earth. In six days God re-shaped the earth's surface (Genesis 1), creating fauna and flora - and MAN!

When Man Appeared

God formed MAN, not after any animal kind, but in God's own likeness - not of spirit composition as is God, but of material flesh and blood. The first man, Adam, father of the human race, allowed Satan's attitude of REBELLION to enter his heart, failing to qualify as Satan's successor.

When Jesus was baptized by John (Mark 1:9-11), immediately He underwent the most titanic struggle ever, in His temptation by the devil (verses 12-13).

Jesus had come to qualify to replace Satan - to restore the Government of God on earth, and bring back WORLD PEACE! But, as the first Adam had undergone and succumbed to Satan's temptation, Jesus had to face and overcome this disqualified Satan.

Jesus underwent this test under the most trying and difficult conditions possible. He had been almost totally depleted of physical strength by fasting 40 days and nights - no food and no water! Yet even in this physical weakness, He was made stronger SPIRITUALLY.

Few have ever realized the stupendous struggle that took place in the crucial temptation. Jesus resisted Satan's supreme temptations. He did it by quoting Scriptures and OBEYING GOD. He proved under the maximum possible test that He would obey God's Laws and administer God's GOVERNMENT faithfully. Then, in utter physical weakness but supreme spiritual strength, He proved He was Satan's Master, by giving Satan a crisp command to leave - and the defeated Satan slunk away!

Then (Mark 1:14), having qualified for the executive administration of the Government of God on Earth, Jesus came into Galilee, saying, as quoted above, "The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand"! (Verse 15).

How to Improve Your Sleeping Posture

Getting quality sleep is very important for your physical and emotional health. As such, it is important to understand how you can enjoy a restful night and get the best out of your sleep. Your sleeping posture has a great contribution in determining how you sleep and whether you will wake up fresh and rejuvenated.

If you normally wake up with muscles stressed and you body aching, changing your sleep posture is very important. With that in mind, we will discuss a number of ways to help improve your sleeping posture thus improving how you feel during sleep and after you wake up. Here are the tips: -
  • Have the right beddings

    Before we even discuss this topic further, it will be important to note that your beddings normally play an important role in determining how you sleep. The kind and quality of mattress you sleep on, the sheets and the blankets/duvet you use will determine whether you will enjoy a relaxed sleep or not.

    As such, you should make sure that your mattress is comfortable while at the same time making sure your sheets are breathable and made of the right material. If your mattress is already old and uncomfortable, buying a memory foam mattress could be a great idea. However, if you do not have all the money to do a complete changeover, adding the best memory foam mattress topper could also do the magic.


  • Avoid eating late into the night

    Eating late into the night (especially too much hard-to-digest food) can prove very discomforting when you sleep. In order to improve your sleep posture, it is advisable that you eat at least 1-2 hours before bedtime to allow the stomach to digest the food a bit.

    Undigested food normally causes your body to work overdrive and this can deprive you of comfort and rest even while sleeping. The body heats up as the system works to breakdown the food and this will definitely have an effect on your sleep.


  • Use the right pillow

    The kind of pillow you use will determine whether you will enjoy your sleep or not. Your pillow shouldn’t be too hard or thick but instead should be soft and firm enough to offer the desired support to your head and neck.

    Additionally, it should comfortably take the shape of your body and align the head comfortably. As such, you won’t snore at night or wake up with a stiff neck or headache. Your pillow should also be positioned right under your neck and head and not under the shoulders.


  • Loosen up and release stress

    Life can give you a beating during the day and the accumulating stress will definitely affect your sleep. As such, it is good to loosen up and let go of the stress both on your mind and body. One of the best ways to do this is to take a long warm bath, relaxing in a hot tub or doing some yoga before bedtime.

    With this, you will freshen up and go to bed with your body and mind more relaxed. Sleeping with your mind and body calm will undoubtedly be of great benefit to you as it’ll help improve your sleeping posture.
There are other things you should consider such as sleeping in the right position. With different sleeping positions, you should choose one that is comfortable for you and practice it regularly to help master the same.

You can either assume the ‘side position’ or opt to sleep on your back with your stomach facing up. Additionally, you can decide to sleep on your stomach with your head facing sideways. However, the bottom line is to ensure that you are comfortable and are waking up with your body and mind rejuvenated.

Aerobic vs. Anaerobic Exercise

Typically, people will associate running, biking, swimming, walking, dancing and other similar activities as aerobic. On the flip side, they refer to any weightlifting exercise as being anaerobic. While this is true for the most part, what many people don't understand is that these very same activities can fall into each exercise category. What? How can that be? Well, let me explain.

Whether a particular exercise is aerobic or anaerobic is dependent on the intensity of the exercise. To use running as an example, if you were out on the road jogging at your usual rate and doing this for your usual 30-45 minutes, you would be doing an aerobic exercise. On the other, if you went out running sprints with the world record holder of the 200 meter dash, you will in all likelihood find yourself engaged in what could now be called an anaerobic exercise. You also will find it is somewhat physically more uncomfortable to do this type of exercise (this would be the understatement of the year). With anaerobic exercise (anaerobic means "without oxygen), you are out of breath within a very short period of time and you are unable to sustain the activity for more that a brief interval. In contrast, an aerobic exercise is one which increases heart rate and breathing, but no so much that you can't keep going on with what you are doing for upwards to an hour or more. Likewise, there are some "anaerobic" exercises that can be turned into aerobic exercises by decreasing the intensity level and performing the exercise over a sustained period of time.

As you can see, running, biking, swimming, and the other activities mentioned above are all great aerobic activities and will lead to better fitness. I hope you also can see that these same activities can quickly be turned into anaerobic exercises by simply increasing the intensity. Keep in mind that if you are doing any kind of high intensity form of exercise, pay careful attention to what you body is telling you and by all means, get a physical before you engage in any kind of training like this.

The Power to Do Good 

Adapted from the resource Love Out Loud Devotional - by Joyce MeyerI heard a story about former New York City mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. One winter night in 1935, LaGuardia paid a visit to night court in the poorest section of the city. He told the judge to take the night off, took his seat on the bench, and presided over the night's cases himself.
Soon a tired, despondent elderly woman appeared before him because she had been charged with stealing a loaf of bread. In her own defense, she said, "My daughter's husband left her. She is sick, and her children are hungry."
The storekeeper had no mercy. With a sigh, LaGuardia said to the woman, "The law is clear. I have to punish you." He fined her ten dollars. As he was pronouncing the woman's sentence, LaGuardia was simultaneously reaching into his pocket to pull out a ten-dollar bill. He dropped it into his hat and said:
"Here's the ten-dollar fine, which I now remit, and furthermore, I’m going to fine everyone in this courtroom fifty cents for living in a town where a person has to steal bread so her grandchildren can eat. Mr. Bailiff, collect the fines and give them to the defendant!"
The total collected for the grandmother was $47.50.
I like the fact that the mayor of New York City used his position of authority to influence others to help the poor grandmother. Any time we can inspire or provoke others to do good, we need to do so.

If traditional religion has taught you that God wants you poor and oppressed, I have good news for you today. The Bible says, "God takes pleasure" in your prosperity. God wants you to prosper!
Not just in the financial realm but in every area of your life...spirit, soul and body.
No matter where you are or who you are, God wants to see you delivered from every adverse situation.
Why? Because He loves you and He has a job for you to do. He wants you to help meet the needs of mankind and He's smart enough to know that you can't give away what you don't have. You can't give to spread the gospel or buy food for the hungry when you're broke. You can't go out laying hands on the sick when you're lying in a hospital bed. You can't minister joy to others when you're being held captive by depression. No! You have to be blessed to be a blessing.
If you really want to tap into the riches of God today, make up your mind to be a blessing to others, and before you know it, you'll be receiving more from God than you ever dreamed.
That's what happened to me. I decided years ago, first and foremost, to be a giver. I developed a lifestyle of giving. Today, I literally "live to give." And I don't mind telling you, God dumps blessings on me by the truckload!
He'll do the same for you if you'll become His servant—if you'll lay down your time and your money and your love for those who need it. Become a giver—and God will take pleasure in prospering you!

Kutztown Golden Bears Take Down Bowie State Bulldogs 74-61

BOWIE, Md. - Junior Cameron Hayes came off the Bowie State University bench to record a personal season-high 24 points but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs drop a 74-61 home decision to Kutztown (Pa.) University in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon. The loss, Bowie State's second straight sets the Bulldogs overall mark at 5-8 while Kutztown improves to 8-6 overall.

“I feel we didn’t play with a collective heart”, said a disappointed Bowie State Head Coach Darrell Brooks. “We did not do a good job in our man-to-man defense and made too many mistakes and made bad decisions.”

Junior Yohance Fleming was the only other Bowie State player to score in double figures, adding 14 points to go along with five rebounds and a pair of assists. Juniors David Belle and Saiquan Jamison chipped in eight and five points respectively and junior Juwan Smith was responsible for four points and a team-high four assists. Jamison was the game’s leading rebounder with 11.

The Bulldogs jumped out to 4-0 lead to start the game but surrendered the lead at the 16:31 mark on jumper by Kutztown’s Ricky Hicks, giving the Golden Bears 7-6 advantage. Bowie State was able to keep pace with the visitors until Kutztown went on a 16-5 run to take a double-digit lead (24-13) by the 5:18 mark.

Bowie State responded with a 14-4 run to close the gap to one but went into halftime trailing 32-30.

Bowie State opened the second half with an 8-2 burst to take a 38-34 lead but like the first half, Kutztown answered with a 16-2 run to regain the lead for good at 50-40.

Not to be outdone, Bowie State put together another run (15-8) to close the Bulldogs deficit to 58-55 by the 6:29 mark of the second half but would get no closer. Hayes was mainly responsible for the run, knocking down a trio of 3-pointers.

The Golden Bears closed the game with a 16-6 run to account for the final margin of 74-61. Leading the Kutztown attack was Josh Townsend with a game-high 32 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor, 8-of-8 at the free throw line, seven rebounds and three assists. Hicks ranked second on the team in scoring with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and a team-high eight rebounds from his guard position.

Bowie State returns to conference play Saturday (January 5), hosting Johnson C. Smith at 4 p.m. in the A.C. Jordan Arena as part of a doubleheader with the women.
