Positive Effects Of Seafood On Our Health
By: Mark Danny
Seafood is a source of high quality protein and is best source of Omega-3 fatty acids. It also contains many vitamins and minerals which increase their nutritional value. So many diseases can be prevented by just adding sea food in our diet. Here are certain useful reasons for introducing seafood in our diet.

Reduce heart diseases

Cholesterol is an essential component of all living animal tissues. Saturated fats in certain foods results in high cholesterol level in blood. Sea foods are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, polyunsaturated fat which is heart healthy. Researchers have suggested that if we include one portion of sea food in our weekly diet it can reduce the risk of heart attack to half. It was also found that EPA and DHA content in fish are related to certain beneficial effects such as they prevent clotting of blood, make veins more elastic, maintain heart rhythm, reduce blood pressure and risk of heart attack.

Beneficial for joints

Studies have shown that intake of diet rich in omega-3 fats can reduce inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and it can also help in treating joints tenderness. People suffering from such problems can benefit by eating fishes like sardines and salmons which are found to be helpful in reducing arthritis.

Great for eyes

Studies have shown that people suffering from age-related muscular degeneration (AMD) can benefit from marine Omega-3 which is found to be helpful in protecting the eyesight of such patients. As retina in the eye is very concentrated in DHA (a long chain omega-3 fatty acid) the intake of seafood especially oil-rich fish can be helpful in keeping the eyes healthy and bright. Certain seafood such as fish and shellfish are rich in vitamin A which is helpful in boosting night vision.

Beauty Enhancer

Surprisingly seafood can contribute to your beauty but the question is how? Fish contain omega-3 fatty acid and zinc which can improve your complexion. Zinc is also helpful in reducing acne. Sea foods are rich source of vitamin E which is vital to skin health and is helpful in slowing down skin aging.

Good for Brain

According to Professor Michael Crawford brain development is dependent on arachidonic (AHA) and docosahexaenoic acids (DHA) which are richly found in seafood like fish. So it is right to state that seafood is brain food. Studies indicate that people who consume plenty of seafood are less likely to develop Dementia and memory problems.

Boost up lungs functioning

Respiratory problems can be reduced by including cold-water fish in the diet as it triggers tissue repair and physical strength that is necessary for recovery. Omega-3 fat consumption also leads to improved immune functioning and reduction in inflammation.

Situational Awareness - the Best Defense
By: Connie Lee

Our world is more complex, faster paced and, in some ways, more dangerous. We can avoid danger by never venturing outside our homes or we can rely our eyes and ears and logic to keep ourselves safe. The US Coast Guard refers to this as Situational Awareness - the ability to identify, process, and comprehend the critical elements of information about what is happening to the team with regards to the mission. More simply, it's knowing what is going on around you.

For the private citizen, the team is Mom, Dad and the Kids; and, situational awareness is really just another word for mindfulness. It is up to us adults to practice all the time. Before long, it will make a big difference in your day-to-day decisions. Much of those decisions have to do with how we perceive those around us. Are there people present that could present challenge? Are there ways to avoid it?

These same principles can also be applied to help your children understand situational awareness. You can even make a game out of it. For instance, when you are out with your family try playing the observation game. Tell your kids to pay attention to their surroundings - the people, the locations of doors and windows, dark places, etc. Then, when you are on your way home, ask them questions about the people sitting next to them or where the exit doors were located. It's a fun way to train your kids about awareness and safety.

Overall, I suppose we should live under a continuous condition of caution. Pay attention to who and what is around. We should use common sense and listen to our instincts - from avoiding the shortcut down a dark alleyway to leaving an area if we feel uncomfortable or threatened. We should do our best not to allow ourselves to become victims. As a civilian, especially if we have taken on the added responsibility of carrying concealed, we must pay attention to who and what is around us. It is up to us to make the right decisions ahead of potential danger and to protect those who depend on us to look out for their well-being.

Mind you, I don't think there's anything very new or profound about basic safety. We learn these things as kids - or should. But sometimes it's a good idea to revisit old lessons and remember to share them with our loved ones. Planning ahead and thinking about our surroundings are effective ways to be safer as we're out and about in our daily lives.

LIVING BY GOD’S GRACE

by Creflo Dollar 3 Oct 2018

Many of us have probably heard the phrase “There but for the grace of God, go I” uttered in regards to someone else’s misfortune. This is a paraphrase from the Bible and is an acknowledgment that another person’s troubles could very well be our own. Although this saying is intended as an affirmation of humility, we could easily misconstrue it without a proper biblical knowledge of where it originated. Some people may think luck is what keeps evil from befalling us; luck has nothing to do with it, but rather God’s favor toward us.
Before becoming a Christian, Paul was known far and wide for his enthusiastic persecution and murder of Christians. When he finally met Jesus on the road to Damascus, Paul could have received the punishment he deserved—death—but his life was spared. Grace is undeserved, unearned, unmerited favor, and Paul received it in abundance. “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). Paul acknowledged his past and admitted that what he had done was enough to condemn him in others’ eyes, but he also realized that he had received God’s grace and forgiveness.
Sometimes we make mistakes because of our own poor judgment and we wait for the bad consequences, but they never come. It’s not “dodging a bullet,” but God’s mercy and grace at work. Mercy is when we don’t get the bad we deserve, and grace is the good we don’t deserve but receive anyway. When this happens, the proper thing to do is recognize that God is responsible for it. “This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes” (Psalm 118:23).
When bad things do happen, trusting that God will bring us through them gives us hope and the strength to go on. Many of us have seen people who have become so discouraged that they’ve lost all hope, and their situation seems to progress from bad to worse. The only guarantee in life is that, at some point, we all face adversity of some kind. However, no matter how bad it seems, God will never abandon us when we depend on Him. “We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair; We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8, 9, AMPC).
God’s grace is always greater than any misfortune, disaster, or bad situation that we face. He promises us that He’ll never leave us alone to drown in our troubles. We display true humility when we trust in this promise. “…For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” (Hebrews 13:5, AMPC). Believing in God’s favor assures us that no matter where we go, He goes with us.
