Teach Yourself to Swim Series #2 of 14 - Ten Best Steps Teaching Yourself to Swim Safely and Efficiently

About this Course
This is the 2nd in a series of 14 very affordable "Teach Yourself to Swim" courses you can share with your entire family and friends.  The value and benefits of each course are easily ten times what you'll invest in each course if you were to take swim lessons from any other program.  And you can download to watch on your tablet or smartphone at the pool or lake. I am your pro instructor with over 55 years of degreed teaching and coaching and competitive experience to demonstrate and teach you my proven correct methods and cues that get faster longer-lasting results.  All my content is based on never out-of-date physics principles I learned as a 5-time All-American at Indiana U. coached by the legendary 1964 and 1976 Men's Olympic Coach, Doc Counsilman.  And I include psychology of learning principles I learned from my Ph.D. no other instructor knows about. I reveal six new teaching methods so you can teach yourself or your kids.  And if you are not comfortable with that then let me teach them with these courses and my videos you can easily download to your tablet or smartphone to take to the pool or lake where you can stand up! You'll get personal access to me via email or my personal cell phone so you can ask all your swimming questions and get good answers.   If you live in rural or suburban areas or have several kids lessons for each cost lots of money.  But now you can save money and let every family member learn at their own pace to overcome their fears.  This is very helpful where you have no pool or experienced instructors. Learning to swim is the only sport that has the potential to save your life.  And the life you save may be your own. In this course you'll start at home without a pool like in the first course, but then I'll show you how easy it is to transfer those same familiar skills to the shallow end of a pool or lake where you can stand up. You'll need a kitchen sink, dressing mirror, mattress, and a bath tub.  I will teach you all the basic swimming skills so you can get familiar with breath holding, blowing bubbles, floating, kicking, stroking, and body position and rolling.   When you follow my system of easy-to-master one-minute steps you can be swimming in the shallow end in a only several hours.  In this course I show what are the ten best steps learning how to swim.  This means I will also show you steps to add your breathing so you can swim continuously without stopping for longer distances.  That is an essential for your personal water safety so you won't become exhausted and start to panic. Once you are familiar with the skills at home we'll transfer all those to the pool or lake in the same sequence taking time to build your confidence.  To learn this entire course focused only on your freestyle stroke with proper breathing will take between 4-10 hours depending on your learning ability and prior experience.

BEHIND THE SCENES: ONE MORE REP WITH ANDREW LEMAY

Presented On US Sports Net by BPI Sports!

Recently, we filmed a commercial for One More Rep™. As usual, we recruited our local ambassadors as the talent and set about a full day of shooting. One of those ambassadors was Andrew LeMay.
Andrew has been an ambassador for about two years now. He’s a firefighter and a national level competitive powerlifter, so we knew he’d easily be able to portray a serious athlete on camera. What we didn’t know is just how literally he’d take the mantra, “one more rep.”
To start off the shoot, Andrew asked if we had any pre-workout. Naturally, we’d brought along the all-new One More Rep™.
“The orange flavor was delicious,” says Andrew LeMay. “It gave me the energy to do the 4-hour workout with the on-and-off shooting, having to hit maximal effort lifts hours apart.”
In the commercial, Andrew represents a heavy lifting athlete. He was hitting squats and deadlifts with as much weight as the bar could hold with bumper plates. During one such set, Andrew was doing deadlifts to failure when he tore open a callus on each hand. While not a serious injury, the cuts still bled pretty profusely and one of the BPI employees on site hurried to get First Aid supplies.
Without missing a beat, Andrew taped up his hands and went back to training.

“To me, one more rep means pushing yourself that extra distance that truly makes a difference between a successful or unsuccessful workout,” explains Andrew. “I decided to squat anyways because I believe that the only way to see how good you can be is to push through a bit of pain or poor circumstance and train hard for your goal. Even if things don’t go perfect, you adapt and push on.”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the true spirit of One More Rep™.

Good Cops, Great Cops-Documentary Films | Science of Surveillance (Nat Geo) and Georgia Private detectives: How to become a Private Investigator

Documentary Films | Science of Surveillance (Nat Geo). Surveillance (/sərˈveɪ.əns/ or /sərˈveɪləns/) is the monitoring of the behavior, activities, or other changing information, usually of people for the purpose of influencing, managing, directing, or protecting them. This can include observation from a distance by means of electronic equipment (such as CCTV cameras), or interception of electronically transmitted information (such as Internet traffic or phone calls); and it can include simple, relatively no- or low-technology methods such as human intelligence agents and postal interception. The word surveillance comes from a French phrase for "watching over" ("sur" means "from above" and "veiller" means "to watch"), and is in contrast to more recent developments such as sousveillance. The Love Of God Produces (1) Relationship With God, (2) Power Of The Mind, (3) True Spirituality
By: Roger Himes

This is Part 2 of 2 parts. We don't understand the power of the love of God in us. FIRST, it eliminates or at least reduces fear in our lives, which is a major contributor to failure in anything we attempt in life (I John 4:18).

SECOND, the love of God is what produces faith in us, producing success in anything we undertake in life (Gal 5:6).

THIRD, the love of God produces deeper, intimate relationship with him, thus giving us power of the mind, transforming our minds to operate in gospel truth (Rom 12:2). This naturally produces true spirituality, and even spiritual healing if needed because of past abuse, neglect, failure, problems, etc.

Isn't this pretty good for a daily starting point in life, isn't it?

Seeing the Power of the Love of God at Work

I knew about the love of God long before I personally knew the love of God.

As a fairly new lawyer in the 1980's, I had a remarkable client. He was facing divorce, bankruptcy of his business, litigation, and personal sickness. Some folks commit suicide in his situation. He had every right to be depressed.

Yet he was telling me about God's grace, and about how much God loved him.

I thought he was 'Looney Tunes.' I thought, "Oh yea, right. This is evidence of God's displeasure and judgment " not his love for you." At the time I did not understand the love of God. To me, God's love was all based on me " on my kingdom of self: (1) on what I did good, and (2) on what I didn't do bad.

This is not true, but it is true that, "Children live what they learn." This applies to you and to me" to all of us.

Living By Law Thwarts Living In Love

Most of us live legal lives " infused with principles and precepts we live by. Law and love are mutually exclusive. The more law and rules there are in any family, the less there is a firm foundation of love. Love cannot be based on law, because law always points out of bad side, while love always points out our good side.

This is also true with divine love. If God's love is based on his law, it is not love. It is the love of God that constrains us, not the law of God (II Cor 5:14).

Humans of any age respond better to love than to laws and rules. The original Hebrews under Moses only had 10 commandments to live under, but they all failed. The ancient Hebrews had about 700 laws to live by, and they all failed (Rom 3:10, Acts 15:10). Adam and Eve only had ONE rule to abide by: "Don't eat fruit from this one tree." We all know they failed.

Here's my lawyer's take on this: mankind cannot live by law successfully!

Seeing the Seed, the Root and the Fruit

It's good to understand how God's love works. When we do, then we can more readily receive it and apply it.

See this: fruit in our life is automatic, whether it's good fruit or bad fruit.

We all grow fruit " some good, and some bad. What it depends on is the SEED that is sown into us, because it is seed that grows roots. Jesus says if good seed is planted, we grow good roots, and no good root produces bad fruit (Matt 7:18). But the converse is also true: bad seed grows bad roots and bad fruit.

But note this: the fruit is automatic " depending on the seed planted in us. This is the theory behind, 'Children live what they learn.' This is what lies behind the proverb: "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." This is what lies behind Paul's words, "What we believe is what we speak."

Here's the key: what we receive into us comes out of us. This is the subject of 'The Parable of the Sower' which we'll talk about at a later time. But we must understand this parable or we won't understand much else (Mk 4:13).

The Love of God Brings Out True Spirituality

II Corinthians talks of two ministries:
(1) the ministry of condemnation, and
(2) the ministry of righteousness.
If children learn condemnation and guilt, they respond differently than if they live in praise and honor (which is righteousness).

The problem is most of society, and most churches produce condemnation and guilt. We live by the humanistic golden rule: "Do good, and you get promoted " do bad, and you get fired." This starts in childhood: "Do good and get rewarded " do bad and get spanked."

This naturally includes the love of God. We are God's children. If we learn our Father's love, we are healthy and living in gospel truth. If we don't know his love, we are unhealthy. It's easy theology.

Paul says we should first receive the love of God ourselves, and then release it, or let it abound over from us to others (II Thes 3:12). This is the way it works. This is why Jesus says that his 'new command' is that we first know his love and then love others the same way he does us (John 13:34-35, 15:9).

No wonder Jesus says his way is easy. Like the seed, the root and the fruit like the Parable of the Sower says, all we do is receive... and then what we receive takes over and does the rest. Thus Jesus says to continue in the love of God " and Paul says to keep yourself in the love of God, and to be rooted and grounded in it. What a powerful, healthy way to live, or to receive spiritual healing.

Minding Your Business-Business Blogging Tips: Top 10 Topics to Blog About

Presented On US Sports Net by Yahoo Small Business!
By: Sarah Carter

Business blogging has many advantages. Blogging gives your company a chance to engage with your customers in a less formal setting than on your company website. A blog serves as an online platform for you to let your customers and potential customers in on some behind-the-scenes details about your company, highlight new products, announce special promotions and more. It can also be great for your SEO efforts. However, just creating a blog won't do anything; you need to actually write in it, a lot. Many companies blog weekly or even daily, which means you need some great content to keep your readers interested. Are you dealing with writer's block every time you sit down to compose a blog? Here are 10 great topics to help you get started.

• Summarize an industry-related news story. At the end of your post, link to the original news story and say something like "read the full article here." If you do this often, people will start to think of you as a resource for the latest updates in the industry, which means they'll check back often to stay in-the-know.

Get 20% off Localworks with code LOCAL20. Be discovered across 60+ maps, social media, search engines, and mobile apps for less than a $1/day with Localworks!

• Put the spotlight on an employee or current customer. This allows others to get to know people who use your product or service as well as your employees. It humanizes the company which makes it easier for people to trust and relate to you.

• Share details about a recent company event. Whether you want to make an announcement about when, where and why the event is happening or share photos and details about how the event went, your business blog is a great platform to do so.

• Post a video. Create an entertaining video that pertains to your company or industry and post it on your blog with a short summary paragraph. If you can, make it funny, people are more likely to share a funny video with friends. Funny and entertaining videos will also help keep your brand in people's minds.

• Write a how-to post. How-to's are one of the most popular blog entries. Did you know that 80% of people who visit a blog are visiting it for the first time? This is because they were searching for information (such as how to do something) that they found on the blog. Once they're reading on your blog, they're more likely to search through your other entries, then hopefully your website.

• Describe little known 3rd party products that work well with your product. This is useful information that your target audience (customers or potential customers) would be interested to know.

• Answer a common customer support question. This will not only help your customers but it also shows them that you genuinely care. Potential customers will see this and instantly gain more trust in your business.

• Highlight a product or service. If there's a particular product or service you are promoting this month, feature it on your blog. Include a photo and let your readers know how this product or service makes their life easier, healthier, happier, more successful, etc.• Provide tips and tricks of the trade. Share some inside information on your industry with your readers. Giving them information they find interesting or useful but can't get anywhere else is one way to get them to come back and read in the future.

• Ask your customers' opinion. Want to know whether or not people liked your newest product? Post a few poll questions as a blog. Encourage people to leave their opinion in the comments section. It's an excellent way to get feedback about your product or service from the people who matter most, your customers. It also shows customers your company cares about what they think and you're working to ensure they have an excellent experience.

The possibilities are endless when you're coming up with things to write about for your business blog. It's important to always put yourself in your target audience's shoes. Think about what they would be interested in reading about. What kind of information would entice them to read then motivate them to share with their friends? Then start blogging! They'll appreciate your thoughtful and original content and return to read. Readers will hopefully turn into customers who will then eventually turn into advocates for your brand.

3 Softball Drills To Do At Home

All while simply using regular household items to work on their game. It’ll not just get them more focused on the sport, but also at the same time, I’m sure you will see some rapid improvement with their on-field performance. Throughout this article, I’ll walk you through some at-home drills you can teach your players.
Drill #1: Posterboard Strike Zone
This drill you can do with a number of different things, but I’ll suggest using a posterboard. Grab some tape and create a strike zone on the board. Then, tape it about a foot off the ground. Once you have your strike zone built, head upstairs and grab a few pairs of socks rolled up (in other words, your softballs). The last item you’ll need is a camera. Anything will do here, you can even tell them to grab one of their parent’s phones. Set it behind where you’ll be pitching from and set it to record video.
Finally, now that you’re ready to practice, work on the motion of going through the windup and throwing the socks (i.e. softball) into the posterboard. With the video footage, you’ll be able to dissect the motion and overall throwing process. Some valuable insight that most youth players never evaluate.
Drill #2: Arm Strength and Hands Drills
A major part of being an effective softball player is having soft hands and a strong arm. An easy drill for this only requires a net or a wall. For the hands aspect of this category, all you have to do is throw the ball off the wall. This will allow you to practice various ground balls, short hops, and so on. Then, for arm strength, just use the wall as a way to practice throwing. Work on arm motion particularly here.
Don’t have a solid wall to use? No worries, just use a tennis ball and the garage. Trust me, it works just as well.
Drill #3: Take Some Cuts
This final drill might just be the simplest one for your players to practice. For this, they’ll just need a mirror and a bat. The player will get in front of the mirror and simply take full cuts while seeing in-person how their stance looks, as well as the swing. While it might sound like a nominal drill, it’s actually key to developing a consistent swing.
As for how often it would be recommended to do this drill, I’d suggest having them take 15-20 swings at a time on 3 different instances each day.
Practice, Practice, Practice!
In the end, one of your primary jobs as a youth softball coach is to develop the work ethic necessary to grow as a player and a person. Even though you won’t be working first-hand on these drills with your players, you will be the one responsible for growing their love for the game!

DR. O: THE FOODS YOU SHOULD EAT ON A KETOGENIC DIET

Presented On US Sports Net By BPI Sports!

James Grage: Let’s talk about the type of foods that people should eat. In that, let’s also have a conversation about where carbohydrates play a role, and what type of carbohydrates. In a traditional ketogenic diet, we’re talking about 5% of our calories are coming from carbohydrates, roughly 25g or less. So let’s talk about the rest. Let’s spell it out. What are the bad sources of fats and what are some of those good sources of fats?
Dr. Brett Osborn: Okay, so again, we’re talking about sources of fat, meaning inflammatory fats vs. anti-inflammatory fats.
James: So break that down. Inflammatory fats.
Dr. O: Right, so we’re talking about the omega 6s vs. the omega 3s really.
James: And what does that mean to the average person?
Dr. O: Typically, in America, we are consuming, at a ratio of 20:1, omega 6s vs. omega 3s. So what does that mean? You’re eating lots and lots of red meats, Krispy Kreme donuts, potato chips, French fries – these have dangerous levels of omega 6 fats in them. You can eat red meat. There’s no question you can eat red meat. You don’t want to have red meat as your source of fats day in and day out. Do you want to have bacon as your source of fats day in and day out? No, you don’t. You want to have things like the good stuff, the omega 3s and the omega 9s. Olive oil, the omega 3s from fish, the coconut oils, nuts – almonds, walnuts, avocados – those are the good fats.
James: So let’s talk about a popular trend that started in ketogenic diets and that’s bulletproof coffee. I believe there’s a brand out there, so I’m not talking about the brand, I’m talking about the concept, which was this idea of taking a stick of butter and putting it in your cup of coffee, which is disgusting. But the idea was that the fats curb your appetite, give you a sense of fullness, which they do. The caffeine obviously would curb your appetite. And a lot of people that I heard were doing this were doing it first thing in the morning, hence the coffee, curbing their appetite all the way until whenever, 12 o’clock or 1 o’clock in the afternoon, so they’re not eating anything during that period of time. So let’s talk about that because I think that falls back in line with the discussion of good fat vs. bad fat. I think there are a lot of things out there that are trending, so people are saying, “Hey, it’s okay to eat a stick of butter!” I don’t think it’s ever okay to eat a stick of butter, so let’s talk about that for a second.
Dr. O: It just goes back to the same thing. I don’t have problems with people eating small amounts of these things. I really don’t. One of the beneficial fats for the gut is something that I take called butyric acid, which is one of the fats that’s in butter. So I don’t have any problem with people eating small amounts of these, but it’s all about moderation. If you’re going to eat these so-called bad fats, I make sure to take some omega 3s as well. It’s not so much about the amount of the bad fat that you eat. It’s the ratio. Americans eat 20:1, omega 6 inflammatory fats to anti-inflammatory fats. That’s terrible! It’s hard though. Another question is, “Why don’t we just get rid of all the omega 6s?” My answer to that would be, are you going to recover from your workouts absent omega 6s? The answer is no. You do need some inflammatory mediators in the body to allow you to recover from your workout – that’s an inflammatory process – and also to fight disease.
James: Well and even when you buy a supplement, it’s not just a 3-9 (omega 3, omega 9), it’s a 3-6-9.
Dr. O: Correct.

James: So in a keto diet, we want to try to minimize the animal fats. We want to bring in good sources such as olive oil or nuts – anything that is high in 3s and 9s. So that’s the fat aspect of it. It’s not just consume a diet high in fat. Make sure you get your good fats in there. So let’s talk about the other aspect where there’s a lot of confusion, especially for people working out. That’s kind of my world, is dealing with people that are fitness enthusiasts – they train five days a week. Even if they aren’t trying to build muscle, they’re trying to maintain lean muscle, and people have been conditioned for years and years and years: protein, protein, protein! And I do think that protein is an important part of the diet, but not like it’s been prioritized in years past. So let’s talk about how protein plays a part in a ketogenic diet because I’ve tried the ketogenic diet before and I’ve tried to modify them because I’m used to taking a lot of amino acids. So I take a lot of BCAAs, I take a lot of essential amino acids, and there’s no way to be in ketosis when you’re taking that much aminos. Through glycogenesis, your body is converting that to glucose nonstop. So whether it’s a modified keto diet or a traditional keto diet, let’s talk about protein. I know that maintaining or even building lean muscle is important. Again, muscle is our metabolic engine, so I know that’s a priority for you with your clients, so what is your recommendation on protein intake? I guess, here’s a better question: no matter who you are, whether you’re in keto or not, how much protein do you really need to build or maintain lean muscle?
Dr. O: Right, well nobody knows the answer to that, as you know. That’s been a hot topic of debate for many years. I will tell you that recent literature suggests that it’s overstated. And I will tell you that with my own body, I don’t believe that I need nearly as much as I used to. I just don’t. That said, if you are going to follow the dipstick, for whatever that’s worth, on a traditional ketogenic diet, you’re going to get knocked out of ketosis real quick. If your ratio is 70% calories from fat, 5% carbs and the other 20% from protein, and you start pushing that up, you will get knocked out of ketosis. It’s going to be different for everybody. If you want to use the ridiculous dipstick as your barometer of “how well you’re doing,” even though we know that that means very little, you have to use your dipstick and figure out where that line is for you. And it’s going to be different for everyone.
James: Ok, now let’s talk about the right types of carbs and the wrong types of carbs.
Dr. O: Here in my clinic, we’re aggressive. A low-glycemic index carbohydrate has criteria to it, just like a traditional ketogenic diet is 5% of your daily calories are from fats. Well, low-glycemic index carbohydrates are classically defined as those with a glycemic index of 55. In my clinic, we’re more aggressive. My cut off is 40.
James: So give me an example of ones that fall into that category.
Dr. O: So those would be things like most vegetables. I don’t want you having peas and carrots because those are sort of on the higher end there.
James: Still a lot of sugar.
Dr. O: Yeah. Corn, we get rid of that. But we transition them slowly down. I want people 0-20. Those are the green, leafy vegetables; onions; tomatoes; scallions; celery.
James: So on a modified ketogenic diet, with 50-100g of carbs throughout the day, you would like to see all of the carbs fall below 40 on the glycemic index?
Dr. O: And ideally, even less than 20. So if you’re thinking, “Hey, I’m going to have to eat a lot on this diet.” You’re damn right. I want you eating. Despite the fact that the body is saying, “I’m sort of in a pseudo-starve state.” You push onward. And you sort of have to force yourself to get those carbohydrates in.
