By: Charlotte Green

The ASP surfing tour goes all over the world having events at all the best surfing spots across the world from Australia to Hawaii. Different legs of the tour are sponsored by different top surfing companies including Quiksilver and Billabong.

Gold Coast, Queensland- Australia –Event Quiksilver Pro

Australia and surfing are 2 words that you often see together, surfing seems to embody the way of life, the ASP surfing tour stops off here every year to make the most of the fantastic waves and to soak up some of that relaxed Aussie vibe. This leg of the tour is sponsored by Quiksilver,

Bells Beach, Victoria –Australia - Event Rip Curl Pro

On the Southern Coast of Australia this spot is an excellent place to take in the surf competition the weather is idealperfect for the tourist. The event takes place in and around Torquay, Victoria which is a town of significant residential areas built up over the last 50 years.

Santa Catarina, Brazil – Santa Catarina Pro

The competition will be held at the beach of Florianopolis which is believed to have the most consistent waves in the region and therefore is a brilliant place to hold the competition, this event is sure to draw in massive crowds and a good party.

Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa –Event Billabong Pro

South Africa has long been a destination of choice for surfers across the world, the great weather and surf has meant that people will travel from all over just to surf this spot. The Billabong Pro ASP World Tour is held at Jeffrey’s Bay every July and is a huge worldwide event.

Master any Skill with our Internationally Accredited Professional Diploma.

Teahupoo,Taiarapu-Tahiti – Event Billabong Pro Teahupoo

The event takes place in Teahupoo and the waves are formed by a reef which the surfers drop in over. The reef is off the south-west of Tahiti, it has produced some of the biggest waves in the world and the record for biggest wave ever ridden took place there.

Trestles,California-USA – Event Hurley Pro

California has a huge history of surfing and it would be wrong to have a surfing tour without at least one stop there. The event is held in the Lower Trestles part of these great surfing spots because of the most consistent waves, the event draws huge crowds and encourages tourism in this area.

South West Coast-France –Event Quiksilver Pro France

Ahh the first of two surfing events in Europe, this event takes place on the west coast of France, it has good waves and attracts huge crowds of spectators.

Peniche-Portugal – Event Rip Curl Pro

Elected to be included in the 2009 ASP tour by the surfing community this is a new beach for the surfers to get to grips with. The waves reach towering heights and challenge the surfers nerve as much as their skills, making this a spectacular event to watch.

Puerto Rico – Event Rip Curl Search

This event is part of the Rip Curl search that aims to find different locations every year to challenge the surfers abilities to adapt. Of course many of the pro surfers will have surfed pretty much all the top beaches in the world but anything can happen on event day.

Banzai Pipeline,Oahu-Hawaii – Event Billabong Pipe Masters

It would not be a surfing world tour without an event in Hawaii and what an event, the pipe master really sorts the weak from the strong. This competition involves dropping into some of the biggest waves in the world and surfing through the pipe and staying on your board becomes all the more important because of the unforgiving reef beneath the waves. The final and most prestigious event of the ASP Tour is always well attended and is a true spectacle.

CoachTube Presents: Six Football Agility Drills from Chris Ault

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE WHOLE THING:  Go beyond the X's and O's with Coach Chris Ault, and start developing faster and more agile players in all areas of your team. In this video Coach Ault shares his "Quick 6" warm up drills that you can easily take back to your team. If you like what you see in this video. click the link above to see the whole thing!

College Football Hall of Fame Coach Chris Ault shares his “Quick Six” drills. Coach Ault used these drills to increase the athleticism and agility of his Wolfpack teams over the 28 years he served as head coach at the University of Nevada. These drills can be used for every position group and work well as everyday drills to improve your players’ coordination, agility, speed, and quickness.

ChrisAult Chris Ault Former Head Coach of University of Nevada, member of the College Football Hall of Fame and NFL consultant

Hi I’m Chris Ault former Head Football Coach for the University of Nevada. I’ve been asked to introduce myself for those of you who may not be familiar with my background.

I began my coaching career at the HS level where I coached for five years. Four of the five I was a head coach accumulating a 35-‐3-‐1 record, winning three conference titles and two state championships. The next three years I spent as an assistant coach at UNLV.

In 1976 I became the Head Football Coach at the University of Nevada, my alma mater. I was 29 at the time and would spend the next 37 years as a coach and administrator at Nevada. I coached football for 28 seasons and was the Director of Athletics for 18, nine of which I wore both hats. We built the program from the ground floor up going from Division-‐II in 1976, 1-‐AA in 1978, 1-‐A (FBS today) in 1992.

As we grew we also had conference affiliations with the Big Sky, Big West, WAC and MWC conferences. Over time Wolf Pack football would become a relevant nationally recognized program and the flagship sport at Nevada. Being a former QB I worked extensively on the offensive side of the ball.

Over my collegiate coaching career I ran the Wing-‐T and 1-‐back spread. Both of these schemes were major contributors in my development of the Pistol, which would become our signature and most dominant offense. Statistically speaking, through the years we produced conference leading and nationally ranked offenses while rewriting just about every individual and team record at Nevada.

When the “Pistol” was introduced in 2005 little did I realize how it would expand the offensive landscape of football, at virtually every level, from Pop Warner to the NFL, Europe to Canada. I never gave much thought to the magnitude or circumstances that the Pistol would have on the sport of football, but I'm very proud to have played a significant role in giving something back to our great game.

The information contained in this CCS program was produced using the video and playbook I used at Nevada, during the 2012 season, prior to stepping down. Since that time I have had the opportunity to speak all over the country on the Pistol, as well as working as a consultant for the KC Chiefs. I can assure you that the material provided will give you an in-‐depth detail of the awesome potential of the Pistol.

Factor75 Presents: The Truth About Red Meat

Red meat, paleo and why so many people are confused

the truth about red meat
Food recommendations change from year to year. But in the last 20 years, government regulators, health experts, and the media have been waging a steady campaign against red meat.
You’ve likely heard that it’s best to limit red meat to one serving a week. Or, that eating sausage causes cancer. And if you haven’t, you’ve likely been taught that the only red meat that should ever be eaten is lean meat.
These warnings bring pause to anyone considering making the switch to paleo. And while some of them are worthy of attention, others are based on faulty overgeneralization and poor scientific practice.

Not All Red Meat is Created Equal

Humans have exceptionally large brains for our body size. While elephants have a brain:body mass ratio of 1:560, ours is 1:50. That size allowed our ancestors to develop the complex perceptual and reasoning abilities that got them out of the savannah and into civilization. Yet what was it that allowed human brains to grow so large?
The answer is simple: red meat. Early humans drew enough protein and fat from meat to more than double their brain size in two million years – no easy feat considering the slow pace of natural selection.
Even after humans adopted agriculture, meat continued to be a staple. In Western countries, red meats like pork and beef became embedded in local and national cultures, and lifestyles often changed to accommodate better production techniques. But until recently, the basic makeup of red meat itself didn’t change.
Yet in the last 150 years, red meat production evolved much faster than humans do. Where cows and pigs once roamed in green pastures, they now stand in tiny cells and eat low-quality grains.
Because cows and pigs are kept in such close quarters, antibiotics are needed to ward off epidemics. Because producers are hungry to lower costs, animals are injected with growth hormones to reach full size quickly.
That production paradigm has all sorts of consequences for consumers.
When the World Health Organization and other bodies of experts pronounce judgments on beef and pork, they don’t differentiate between farm and factory-raised products. That’s a massive oversight.

Grass vs. Grain

There is a huge difference between grass-fed and grain-fed meat. Nutrients found in grass-fed red meat include Niacin, Vitamin B12, Selenium, Zinc, Iron, and Vitamin B6. To be fair, these are also found in grain-fed meat, but in much smaller quantities.
That’s not the most important nutrient, though: fat is. Grass-fed meat is a great source of healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, as well as Omega-6 fatty acids.
What’s more, the ratio between Omega-3s and Omega 6s in grass-fed beef is ideal: 1:3. In grain-fed beef, that same ratio is 1:20. This imbalance between fatty acids can lead to inflammation and disease.
Yet consumers looking to enjoy healthy meat have to do more than just look for the grass-fed label. According to ‘Real Food Fake Food,’ a recent book on food fraud, the USDA’s guidelines for grass-fed beef don’t rule out factory farming methods and heavy drug use. In effect, his makes the designation meaningless for those who want to be safe and healthy in their food choices.
Since the bureaucrats aren’t following through on their mandate, it’s now more important to know where food comes from than what’s on the label. That’s why buying local is the best way to ensure the quality of your ingredients. If you can actually track the production process yourself by talking to a farmer, you may very well do a better job than a USDA regulator.
If you don’t have the chance to visit a farmer’s market, look for the Protected Designation of Origin label and read up about production methods at various locations. For example, meat from Bologna is still made at the high quality that earned the region its fame.
Of course, there’s always the option to order a meal plan from a trusted source so you don’t have to do all the digging yourself.

What About Fat?

Many cuts of red meat are high in saturated fat, a naturally occurring substance that has not been definitely linked to either LDL cholesterol (the bad kind) or heart disease. Yet saturated fat has become the bogeyman of America’s fat-obsessed food culture. That’s a shame, because many nutrient-rich foods – like red meat – can also be high in saturated fats. By scaring the public off saturated fats, experts are also scaring them away from iron and other essentials that are often lacking in the modern diet.

Be Careful When Grilling

One area where the experts have it right is the grill. Charred meat contains carcinogenic chemicals because of its contact with open flames. So, if you’re serious about lowering carcinogenic intake, it’s worth looking into some of the alternatives to standard grilling methods.
Flameless grills are a great way to enjoy the flavors of a grill without the side effects. Plus, many cities have placed bans on flame grills that don’t apply to their flameless counterparts.
Another option is sous vide, which means ‘under vacuum.’ This technique involves vacuum-sealing meat in a bag and cooking it in warm water. Sous vide offers precise control over the temperature that meat is cooked at. After the warm water, the meat is removed and slightly seared to impart the crispy texture of grilled meat.

Processed vs. Natural

Grain-fed organic red meat can still be bad for you if you consume it in the form of a sausage or as ham. Unless you do your homework, there’s no way to tell whether you’re buying a product that’s been filled with additives and preservatives. That’s part of why paleo  and keto experts recommend staying away from processed meat – there’s no knowing how ‘natural’ they really are.

Mix & Match

Finally, it’s important to remember that grass-fed red meat is only supposed to be part of a well-balanced diet. Poultry, fish, eggs, and of course lots of vegetables and tubers should be consumed along with red meat to ensure that you’re getting a full dose of the many nutrients required for life. Red meat is a key part of that picture.

The Often Overlooked Value of Organic

going-organic.jpg

We understand there's one big hold up in going organic: the price. It's so expensive.
However, there are ways today to get your healthy, organic ingredients for less. For starters, we offer 100% organic ingredients in all of our meals. As we covered before, the value of not only the quality of the food, but to have these meals chef-prepared and delivered to your door is how we price our service. We do everything for you... and save you money along the way
Now what if we told you that the extra price you pay for organic ingredients... is worth it simply just for your health.
It's important to understand the nutritional value of organic ingredients. For instance, according to the Environmental Working Group, celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nectarines, bell peppers, spinach, kale, cherries, potatoes, and imported grapes are doused heavily in pesticides. The USDA said that US farmers sprayed an alarming 57 million pounds of glyphosate (a chemical in weedkillers) on crops in 2009. Glyphosate winds up inside inside of our veggies and produce and has been linked to metabolic damage, infertility, obesity, learning disabilities and even birth defects. Ugh.

Research on organic foods show that they are lower in nitrates, a compound that can be carcinogenic once ingested.

Now that's just pesticides. We also don't serve any of "the bad stuff" — no preservatives, GMOs, hormones, antibiotics, and we're entirely soy and gluten-free as well.
Is it the taste you're worried about too? Organically grown foods tend to taste richer and more flavorful. Balanced soil produces healthy, strong plants. Heirloom varieties, (think tomatoes) especially benefit from this style of farming. Research shows that healthier soil grows stronger organic plants with increased levels of vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus.
* * * *
The ingredients we use in our meals are viewed through a very specific lens: Will this food increase our performance and our quality of life or not? Very simple. Very effective.
Your meals only include ingredients that are proven by research to optimize your mind and body. Ingredients with Integrity. That's one of our mottos.
Lastly, your subscription with us at Factor 75 also goes towards supporting the local farmer. We source all of our ingredients from local organic farmers in the Chicagoland area with Testa Produce being one of our longtime partners.
We know this may be a lot to take in, but when you have an extra moment, download our full guide on Going Organic (PDF)

The Bulldogs return home to take on the Trojans of Virginia State University on Wednesday (February 21st) at 7:30 p.m. in Bowie State’s A.C. Jordan Arena.
