Don't fall for this major cause of breast cancer

Cancer Defeated Publications

Don't Fall For This
Major Cause Of Breast Cancer

These days, we know genetic mutations affect your likelihood of developing breast cancer, especially if you have mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.

But like so many other cancers, diet and lifestyle also play a significant role in whether you'll develop breast cancer. In fact, diet and lifestyle appear to be the biggest factors overall. Researchers now estimate as much as 73 percent of breast cancer is caused by diet and lifestyle choices, as opposed to genetics. That bottle of cola and that dish of ice cream had better be really good because you may end up paying a terrible price.

But lifestyle means far more than our food and exercise habits. It also includes toxins we're exposed to, including some prescription drugs we take because doctors tell us they're "harmless." Right now I'm thinking of the types of hormones you might be putting in your body that could elevate your risk. As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, let's take a look at some things you can do...

Is Cancer a Result of Eating Too Few Apricots?
When it comes to cancer prevention you'd be mad to surrender your health to conventional care. Some so-called experts would have you believe that cancer is caused by an apricot or laetrile (a naturally accruing substance found in the kernels of apricots) deficiency... and that you should eat apricot pits to correct the problem.

Remember, cancer is self-inflicted damage. It comes as a result of our unhealthy lifestyle.

Cancer is not a result of eating too few apricots. 99.9% of native peoples, who are cancer free, do NOT eat apricot kernels. Cancer is not a laetrile deficiency, whatever you may have read about this "cure".

But it is arguably an oxygen deficiency, an anti-oxidant deficiency, electron deficiency, enzyme deficiency, love deficiency and vitamin C and D deficiency. Even, our standard Western diet contributes to cancer.

You can find out the REAL cancer secrets from the collected writings of an experienced holistic physician, with over 30 years experience.

5 "little" lifestyle tips that can help you
Avoid breast cancer
Lifestyle choices can have a profound affect on your health, and on how your body performs at all levels. Doctors rarely spend the time necessary to talk about these things. Be smart today, and implement this "top 5" list.
  1. Smoking and Alcohol. If you smoke, quit as soon as possible. Studies show that women who smoked for 35 years had a 60% greater risk of serious breast health problems. And women who smoked 15 years were 34% more likely to develop abnormal breast cells.
  2. As for alcohol, drinking the stuff on a regular basis may fuel estrogen imbalances and abnormal breast cell changes. As the rest of this article will show, high estrogen levels are a major cause of breast cancer and other cancers.
  3. Exercise. Even mild or moderate exercise (i.e., 30 minutes of walking) can help move immune cells around your body, support a healthy estrogen balance, and help keep abnormal breast cells from taking root. It also promotes insulin sensitivity and a healthy weight. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Walk a little bit — ten minutes, 15 minutes. DO SOMETHING.
  4. Your Weight. Fat cells produce more estrogen. A healthy weight also benefits your cardiovascular, metabolic, and overall health. Yes, I know everyone's tired of being nagged, but the years this can add to your life are worth all the trouble of tackling this problem.
  5. Vegetables. Eat a diet high in organic veggies, especially cruciferous and dark leafy greens. They're chock full of crucial vitamins, antioxidants, and phytochemicals you've probably never heard of. Raw is better than cooked.
  6. Thermography and breast exams. Do monthly self-breast exams and an annual thermogram. A thermogram doesn't directly diagnose cancer, but it can warn you of inflammatory hot spots that can spell trouble, up to ten years in advance of actually having cancer that can be detected. This gives you tons of time to take action.
Meanwhile, beware of this mainstream medical therapy
It's widely documented that hormone replacement therapy increases the risk of breast cancer. Not so many years ago, doctors promoted this therapy like crazy. Nearly half of all post-menopausal women at least gave it a try — that's a staggering number of people.

Then a big study revealed that hormone replacement therapy was clearly linked to breast cancer. It turned out it was a really bad idea to blindly trust your doctor — you know, that guy or gal who has all that schooling and knows everything.

Thousands of women promptly quit hormone replacement therapy, and within a few years the breast cancer rate plunged.

It was probably the most dramatic proof ever seen that a lifestyle choice can give you cancer. In this case the choice was a prescription drug that is not essential.

In spite of the warnings, it seems quite a few women still take hormone replacement therapy. If that describes you, take heed — you're putting your life in danger. And that may be true even if you're a loyal natural health fan and take "bio-identical" hormone therapy, as I'll explain in a minute.
What is hormone replacement therapy?
Conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause is a lifestyle choice and it's something women have been choosing for decades, although far fewer women choose it now. It's also known as menopausal hormone therapy (HT or MHT), postmenopausal hormones (PMH), or postmenopausal hormone therapy (PHT). Treatments are generally administered through a pill, topical cream, or patch.

Most conventional hormone replacement therapy is made up of progesterone or progestins (synthetic hormones that act like progesterone). In rare cases, androgens (testosterone-like male hormones) are used, along with something called Tibolone, a synthetic hormone drug that acts like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, depending on which tissue of the body it gets put into to.

Women choose HRT to replace the female hormones in their bodies that are no longer made after menopause (in general, that's when women have lower estrogen levels). But it's a choice that can dramatically increase your breast cancer risk as well as your risk of other cancers, even if you use it for as little as two years.

Before the big study linking it to cancer, HRT used to be a standard treatment for any woman who experienced hot flashes or other menopausal symptoms, and was believed to have long-term benefits that protected against illness like heart disease and dementia. Now we know the treatment did more harm than good, especially for older post-menopausal women.

In spite of this finding, HRT is still considered a helpful treatment for certain groups of women, such as those at high risk of heart disease (this is because some studies show estrogen may decrease heart disease risk). But it's not clear whether the benefits outweigh the risks even for these special groups.
Why the HRT cancer risk is real
As more research on HRT surfaces, more risks are coming to light. For example, women who take estrogen supplements without the right balance of progesterone risk uterine cancer. Breast cancer risk also rises, in part because HRT can cause a breast to look denser on a mammogram, making cancer all but impossible to detect.

Worse still, not only does hormone replacement therapy elevate your risk of breast cancer, but once developed, the cancer might be more aggressive. Meaning the cancer might be more advanced once discovered, thus increasing your risk of dying from the disease.

Doctors caution that if you have a current or past history of breast, ovarian, or endometrial cancer, you should steer clear of HRT—a fact that underscores how much hormone replacement therapy supports the growth of cancer.

Here's a sampling of some recent negative results from HRT supplementation:
  • One study of women taking estrogen-only therapy showed that one in nine women who took the therapy for three years developed a pre-cancerous change in the lining of the uterus.
  • In a Women's Health Initiative study (WHI), those who took estrogen-progestin therapy had a higher risk of breast cancer. And the longer the hormones were used, the higher the risk. In this study, it took three years of halting hormone therapy for risk levels to return to normal.
  • In the same WHI study, it was found that women on estrogen-progestin therapy actually had a lower risk of colorectal cancer, but the cancers they did get were more likely to spread to lymph nodes or distant sites.
  • Observational studies suggest that estrogen-progestin therapy slightly increases the risk of ovarian cancer.
In general, your risk returns to normal within five years of stopping hormone replacement therapy.
What about natural alternatives to drug-company
hormone replacement therapy?
The first step to getting off hormone replacement therapy is to gradually minimize the amount you take. Use the lowest dose possible to treat your symptoms, and focus on improving other aspects of your health—by following the five tips at the beginning of this article.

Limiting stress is also an effective way to help curb menopausal symptoms. Take up yoga or practice relaxed, deep breathing or meditation. Tai chi and acupuncture may also help.

An alternative is to take bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, which appears to have a higher satisfaction rate. For example, those patients who take bio-identical hormone replacement therapy with progesterone report higher satisfaction than those who take a synthetic progestin. Same case for those taking Estriol, a bio-identical form of estrogen, which reacts within the body differently than estrogens found in conventional hormone replacement therapy. The latter are not exactly the same as the natural hormones your own body manufactures.

It makes sense to me that bio-identical hormones would be safer, but even so this type of therapy remains controversial. Having spent years recommending the man-made hormones, mainstream medicine has now done a complete about face and says ANY estrogen supplement — man-made or bio-identical -- may increase cancer risk.

I am anything but an expert, but I do know that exposure to estrogen does raise cancer risk. For this reason, the more pregnancies a woman has, the lower her breast cancer risk, because estrogen levels drop during pregnancy. Breast cancer risk is directly related to the number of monthly cycles a woman has during her lifetime, since estrogen levels peak during a certain part of the cycle. Pregnancy arrests this process and leads to lower cumulative lifetime exposure to estrogen.

I've also read (and, again, I'm not an expert) that the symptoms of menopause can be managed by diet and proper food supplements. Doctors who advocate this approach say that the annoying symptoms of modern menopause are largely a product of our bad dietary habits. Like other symptoms of aging including diabetes and heart disease, we're inflicting this problem on ourselves.
In the end ... avoid the risk
Controlled trials are needed before we have more conclusive results about the risks of hormone replacement therapy, but for now, it appears much safer to go with what's natural. Especially since every time researchers learn more about hormone therapy, the message seems to be that it's not that great after all.

So as long as there are alternatives, your best bet is to try them first.

A cancer cure from the sea

Cancer Defeated Publications

Could This Cancer Cure from the Sea
Save Thousands of Lives Each Year?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, lung cancer kills more Americans than any other type of cancer.

In the year 2009, it claimed about 158,081 lives. Those unfortunate victims probably didn't know about one of Mother Nature's top-notch cancer killers. Laboratory research indicates that a plant chemical found in certain types of seaweed could have the right stuff to clobber lung cancer cells. Keep reading...

Alzheimer's Herb Works Better Than Drugs
Big Pharma sets sights on wonder extract that works BETTER than leading Alzheimer's drugs!

But you can still get your hands on the safer, natural version today…before they try to sell it to you for hundreds of dollars. Go HERE for the full story.

It's called fucoidan and is found in edible brown seaweeds such as bladder wrack, kombu and wakame.

Oriental medicine has a long history of using these plants for curing ailments. Now it appears that Western scientists have discovered their healing value, too.

Researchers began investigating the health effects of fucoidan in 1970. Since then, the positive benefits have been confirmed by more than 700 studies published in the National Library of Medicine's database.

For example, laboratory studies have shown that fucoidan can…
Stop cancer cells dead in their tracks!
Scientific studies have confirmed that fucoidan has anticancer agents that mount a two-pronged approach against cancer cells.

In one study1, scientists determined that fucoidan stopped the migration of existing lung cancer cells before they invade other parts of your body. Study authors reported that, depending on the dose, fucoidan inhibited cell migration by anywhere from 25 percent to as much as 57 percent after 48 hours.

They also found that if cancer cells did migrate—fucoidan formed a protective barrier to help healthy cells fight off the corrupting cancer cells.

But fucoidan provides another form of protection against lung cancer when it…
Causes cancer cells to commit hari-kari!
Studies have also shown that anticancer agents in fucoidan cause certain types of rapidly growing cancer cells to explode. This natural process of apoptosis is the mechanism your body uses to purge harmful cells from your system. It appears that fucoidan acts like a fuse that sets off the explosion.

Researchers at Dalian Medical University in China2 mentioned that this reaction has been observed in breast, liver and lung cancer cells as well as in leukemia cells.

Not only does fucoidan send cancer cells running for cover—but it also has other health-preserving benefits.

Studies have also demonstrated that this simple seaweed component...
Helps keep your heart beating longer and stronger!
If you're concerned about keeping your cardiovascular system healthy—fucoidan may be just the thing for you.

Researchers have found that fucoidan stops smooth muscle cells from increasing rapidly3. This can be especially important for preventing blocked arteries in heart patients who've had stents inserted.

One study4 confirmed this effect when investigators gave rabbits intramuscular and intravenous injections of fucoidan.

In another study5 using lamb hearts, researchers deliberately induced heart damage through oxygen deprivation. After exposing some of the lamb hearts to fucoidan, they noticed three improvements:
  1. Better recovery of left ventricular function,
  2. Increased coronary blood flow, and
  3. Improved myocardial oxygen consumption after ischemia
How does fucoidan manage to do all this? One study6 showed that fucoidan blocks cell receptors called selectins. These receptors help white blood cells (leukocytes) stick to capillary walls. When this sticking occurs, it can cause tissue damage and ultimately cause your arteries to harden.

By blocking selectin, fucoidan stops leukocytes from migrating to blood vessel walls to cause heart damage.

Fucoidan also acts as a natural blood thinner, which also could explain its ability to protect your heart… blood vessels… and other vital organs.

The anti-cancer and heart healthy benefits of fucoidan provide plenty of proof that this is a first-class health healer. But on top of this, fucoidan has also been shown to…
Stamp out killer viruses!
Fucoidan doesn't cringe when facing nasty viruses. In vitro and animal studies7 show it goes to work on coated viruses such as herpes and HIV.

It even put the brakes on a type of herpes virus called human cytomegalovirus that can lead to blindness and deadly pneumonia if your immune system is compromised.

Experiments suggest that fucoidan gives viruses a one-two punch by inhibiting:
  • The initial stages of viral infection, such as attaching to and penetrating host cells, and
  • The later replication stages after virus penetration.
Fucoidan's ability to inhibit the herpes virus may explain why Japan has a much lower incidence of herpes simplex virus type 2 infections, compared with the west.

The Japanese diet features a variety of dishes made from fish, rice, the soybean paste miso and seaweeds. Because the Japanese bulk up on these foods, perhaps they enjoy a greater level of protection!

Before you chalk it up to coincidence—consider that in the Japanese island of Okinawa, residents enjoy low blood cholesterol levels, little to no heart disease and rarely die by stroke or cancer.

Both scientific and anecdotal evidence seem to point to the fucoidan in seaweed as a simple and nutritious solution to preventing or healing a wide variety of health problems.

VIRGINIA STATE NIPS BOWIE STATE 47-44 IN TRIPLE OVERTIME

ETTRICK, Va. - The Bowie State University football team lost a tough triple overtime game on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Stadium, falling by a score 47-44 to host Virginia State University.

The Bulldogs fall to 2-5 overall on the season and 0-4 in conference play.

The Trojans struck quickly to open the game, scoring the games’ first three points on a 38-yard field goal by Shawn Hunt (Newport News, Va.) with 10:46 left in the first quarter.

Virginia State’s passing game was on point in the first half of play. A pass interference call with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half, gave the Trojans a first down at the Bulldogs five yard line. Three plays later, Jordan Anderson (Houston, Texas) punched it in from two yards out to give Virginia State a 10-0 advantage.

Bowie State put their first points on the scoreboard with 2:17 left in the second quarter following a 33-yard field goal by junior Mario Diaz-Aviles (Washington, D.C.) to close the deficit to 10-3.

On the ensuing kickoff, Bulldogs redshirt sophomore Nkonyeasua Uwandi (Berwyn Heights, Md.) forced a fumble and senior Dwayne Price (Fort Washington, Md.) recovered the fumble in the end zone. Diaz-Aviles added the extra point to tie the game at 10.

The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game after a 22-yard field goal by Diaz-Aviles to send Bowie State into the homecoming halftime with a 13-10 lead.

Redshirt junior Kendall Jefferson (Temple Hills, Md.) busted up the gut of the Virginia State defense for a 19-yard touchdown run to push the Bulldogs lead to 20-10 with 47.9 seconds left in the third quarter.

With 9:07 left in regulation VSU senior quarterback Justin Thorpe (Henrico, Va.) faked a handoff and rushed for an 11-yard TD run.  Hunt added the extra point to trim the BSU lead to 20-17.

The Trojans regained the lead at 24-20 on a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Anderson at the 4:47 mark of the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Garry Cropper (Odenton, Md.) caught a Johnston screen pass and scampered down the Bowie State sideline for a 24-yard score. It was Cropper’s first TD reception of his career.

VSU’s Hunt drilled a 37-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to send the Trojans and Bulldogs into overtime tied at 27.

Virginia State (6-1, 4-0 CIAA) went on offense first in overtime and Thorpe connected with Jaivon Smallwood (Virginia Beach, Va.) for a 15-yard pass and catch touchdown.

Bowie State junior Keith Brown (Temple Hills, Md.) rumbled 25 yards on the Bulldogs second play from scrimmage in overtime and the Aviles extra point knotted the score at 35 heading into a second overtime.

Johnston threw it up in the right corner of the VSU end zone and freshman Ricardo Smith (Oxon Hill, Md.) out-jumped the VSU defender for a 13-yard touchdown and a 41-34 Bulldogs lead.

Faced with a fourth and five, Smallwood hung in the pocket, which seemed like an eternity, and ran up the middle for a nine-yard touchdown, sending the game into the third and deciding overtime tied at 41 all.

The Bulldogs went ahead 44-41 in the third overtime following a career-long 40 yard Aviles field goal.

However, the Thorpe/Smallwood duo would close it out for the Trojans on a 24-yard pass and catch to lift Virginia State to a 47-44 victory. This marked the third straight year VSU has beaten BSU in overtime. The 91 points were a new combined high between the two teams.

Bowie State accumulated 336 yards of total offense, while Virginia State had 510 total yards.

Brown led the Bulldogs in rushing with a career-high 175 yards on a career-best 32 carries, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Redshirt junior tight end Khari Lee (Baltimore, Md.) caught a team-high four passes for 55 yards.

Bulldogs senior quarterback Jared Johnston (Dumfries, Va.) was 12-for-24 in the air for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Kevaugn Townsend (Fort Washington, Md.) led the Bulldogs with 11 tackles. Senior linebacker Antoine Young (Washington, D.C.) had 10 tackles, including one tackle for a loss.

Leading the Virginia State ground and air game was Thorpe with 182 rushing yards and 259 passing yards, completing 20-of-33 passes and two touchdowns.

The top receiver for the Trojans was Smallwood with eight receptions for 131 yards while tight end Gene Holloman (Virginia Beach, Va.) had five catches for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Ronald Lewis (Virginia Beach, Va.) paced the Trojans defense with a team-high 10 tackles. Andre Rawls (Franklin, Va.) had a good afternoon totaling nine tackles to go along with two tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries.

The Bulldogs return home to take on the Panthers of Virginia Union University next Saturday, October 26th at 1 pm in Bulldogs Stadium. This game has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Day and anyone that wears pink will be admitted for $5. For additional ticket information, visit the official Bulldogs website at

Heal prostate cancer with junk food?

"This is incredible!
How come nothing has ever been done about this before?"

said one researcher from
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
Dear Friend,
If you've ever known someone with prostate cancer then you know it's a terrible disease. And you also know that the treatments can be nearly as bad—or even worse—than the cancer...
The painful biopsies. Often followed by invasive surgery and its life-changing side effects: dribbling, lost sexual function and uncontrollable urination can leave you in diapers and steal your manhood forever. Toxic radiation and aggressive chemotherapy can chip away at your physical strength until you can hardly stand without help.
Even after all this a man can still die a slow, painful death from prostate cancer. Perhaps this tragedy has happened to someone you care about.
If so, then you'll be glad to hear this happy news...
A small number of pioneering physicians around the country are spearheading a revolution in new and better prostate cancer treatment.
And their medical discoveries are transforming prostate cancer and its detection and treatment into a safer, faster, more comfortable healing experience.
Best of all, their mostly natural solutions are healing men just as well if notdramatically better than the old dangerous treatments like radiation and chemo. Because they're even healing advanced cases of prostate cancer. Cases so bad that most doctors shake their heads and say "there's no hope" or "it's only a matter of time."
That's exactly what John's doctor said to him.

The Incredible Healing Power of Infrared Saunas

The Incredible Healing Power
of Infrared Saunas

When it comes to revitalizing your health, reversing illness, and just making you feel great, few things compare to an infrared sauna.

Infrared saunas are clinically shown to help fight cancer, reduce blood pressure, relieve pain, reverse heart disease, promote weight loss, and give you a host of other health benefits.

Continued below....

A Few Sips a Day, Keeps Cancer Away...
Discover the Simple Secret That's
Already Saved Thousands of People
Around The World from Deadly Cancers...
The National Cancer Institute confirmed its effectiveness. When the results came in, the NCI researchers were amazed...

In their experiments, cells from six of the deadliest cancers were knocked out — lung cancer, colon cancer, leukemia, ovarian cancer, kidney cancer and melanoma. In every test almost all of the cancer cells were dead. Wiped out within just 48 hours of being exposed one little-known cancer treatment...
Imagine the millions of lives it could save,
Then brace yourself for a shocking surprise...

The deep healing power of infrared energy
Ever get in a car on a sunny day in winter? Wonder how it feels so warm inside when the air outside is freezing? That's the infrared light from the sun.

In this same way, infrared saunas penetrate up to 1-1/2 inches below your skin to detoxify and revitalize your cells. This produces a deep, detoxifying sweat that eliminates toxins at the cellular level. Infrared energy is powerful, yet it's so safe it's used in hospitals to warm newborn infants.
Using infrared saunas to fight cancer
Over 2,000 years ago, the famous Greek physician Parmenides said, "Give me the power to create fever, and I will cure any disease." Cancer clinics in Germany and Mexico are putting this principle to use. They routinely treat patients with hyperthermia, where the body is exposed to high temperatures. High temperatures can kill cancer cells, usually without damage to normal tissues.1

Most of the German cancer clinics that I've visited use both infrared hyperthermia and infrared saunas for their patients, and so do many of the Mexican clinics. Infrared saunas provide a form of whole-body hyperthermia that boosts your health in many ways. You can even enjoy infrared sauna at home, as I’ll explain in a moment.

In an article in the Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, Lawrence Wilson, MD writes, "If I were to single out one method to combat cancer, it is the sauna. It assists removal of chemical toxins and heavy metals, increases oxygenation, enhances the immune system, and reduces the radiation burden in the body."2

Dr. Wilson notes that infrared sauna therapy for cancer offers a combination of healing mechanisms. They act simultaneously to support the fight against cancer. These include:
  1. Hyperthermia: Heating the body is a well-known and underused method of killing cancer cells, says Dr. Wilson. Cancer cells are weaker than normal cells and more susceptible to damage from heat. Infrared saunas are superior for this purpose, he says.
  2. Eliminate Toxins: Saunas also help purge the body of toxins, such as heavy metals and chemicals.
  3. Improving circulation. Cancer often grows in tissues with poor circulation and thus poor nutrition and oxygenation. Infrared saunas boost overall circulation. This brings nutrients, hormones, oxygen and other substances to all body tissues.
  4. Decongesting the internal organs. The liver, kidneys and other internal organs can become burdened with estrogen, chemicals, and toxic metals. Infrared saunas cause blood to move toward the body surface. This helps cleanse the internal organs.
  5. Care for your body's largest organ: Your skin is a major organ for eliminating body wastes. But in most people, it's inactive because they don't sweat enough. Infrared saunas help cleanse you from the inside. They encourage sweating and free up toxins stored beneath the skin.
Infrared treatment shrinks tumor volumes 86% in 30 days
In a clinical study published in the Journal of Cancer Science and Therapy, scientists studied far infrared's effects on human cancer cells in vitro and on cancer cells in mice. Far infrared therapy reduced tumor volumes 86% in 30 days. The tumor-suppressing effects were even seen without high temperatures, even as low as 77 degrees Fahrenheit.3

In another study, researchers in Japan discovered that whole-body hyperthermia with far infrared strongly inhibited the growth of breast cancer tumors in mice without deleterious side effects. Researchers believe this therapy is promising for long-term studies of a noninvasive treatment of breast cancer.4
The healing power of 'cellular cleansing'
Most of us don't sweat enough regularly. We live in air conditioned homes, cars, and offices. We use antiperspirants and most of us don't exercise enough. But your body was designed to sweat. And sweat is a key way to cleanse your body.

The infrared sauna is a powerful means of cellular cleansing. It increases your metabolism and boosts blood circulation. It also relaxes your muscles, soothes your spirit and rejuvenates your entire body.

The deep penetration of infrared heat releases toxins from the fat layers just beneath the skin. It also helps your body eliminate toxins from your internal organs. These toxins pass from the organs to the fat tissue under the skin. Then they are eliminated in perspiration.

To see how this works, researchers analyzed the sweat from both traditional and infrared saunas. Sweat from traditional saunas was about 97% water and 3% toxins. Infrared saunas produced a sweat that was only 80 — 85% water. The remaining 15-20% was made up of heavy metals, sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia, uric acid and fat-soluble toxins.5
The secret to effortless detox
If you're a regular reader of this newsletter, you're well aware of the toxins we're all exposed to in modern life. You also know well that many of these toxins in our food, water and air are believed to be a major cause of increased cancer rates. If you want to prevent or reverse cancer, you not only need to reduce your intake of toxins, you also need a regular program to get these poisons out of your body.
Infrared heat is incredibly powerful because it helps you cleanse at the cellular level and release toxins stored in your fat cells. Infrared saunas are also powerful because they're such a simple, easy way to detox compared to fasting, exercise, colon cleansing, and other detox therapies.
Natural weight loss
It is no secret that maintaining a healthy weight is important for overall quality of life. In fact, a 10-year study published by The New England Journal of Medicine found that waist circumference by itself is a critical factor in assessing the risk of premature death. In other words, if you can maintain a healthy weight, you increase your likelihood of a longer, healthier life.

Did you know that you now have basically the same number of fat cells as you did when you were born? Fat cells develop during the third trimester of pregnancy and you keep the same number your whole life. So how do you gain weight? Your fat cells store fat like a sponge that soaks up water. Infrared saunas help release fat (and the toxins stored in the fat) like squeezing water out of a sponge.

Infrared saunas have been clinically shown to dramatically aid in weight loss. A 2009 study showed that infrared saunas provide significant results in lowering weight and waist circumference in just 3 months. And for those who are sedentary due to medical conditions such as osteoarthritis, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, results were even more profound.6

Burn up to 600 calories while sitting still!

According to information published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, infrared sauna sessions were shown to burn upwards of 600 calories. During a sauna weight loss session, your core temperature increases and the body works hard to cool itself. While using an infrared sauna, there is a substantial increase in blood flow, heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.7

Regular use of an infrared sauna may be an effective means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning of calories, akin to regular exercise. Using an infrared sauna is like giving yourself a passive cardio workout — whenever you need it!
As someone who always means to exercise and seldom gets around to it, I appreciate an easy way to get some of the benefits.
Drug-free pain relief
Infrared rays also help you naturally reduce pain and inflammation. Infrared sauna heat works by penetrating joints, muscles and tissues. It increases circulation, and boosts oxygen flow to the tissues. By reducing soreness on nerve endings, infrared heat reduces muscle spasms and helps the body heal itself naturally.

Infrared saunas are proven relief for sports injuries, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, joint pain/stiffness and other chronic pain conditions.

According to Dr. Jeffrey Spencer, a sports medicine expert from the University of Southern California and consultant to Lance Armstrong, "infrared wavelengths penetrate the body to create heat, which creates profound therapeutic benefits. They increase blood flow to the muscles, delivering more concentrated oxygen, which creates more energy to heal."
  • Significant Reduction in Chronic Pain: A study reported in Clinical Rheumatology showed that infrared saunas gave significant relief for patients with chronic pain (such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis). Four weeks of 30-minute, twice-weekly sessions in an infrared sauna resulted in a 40 percent improvement in pain and stiffness (for rheumatoid arthritis) and 60 percent (for ankylosing spondylitis).8
  • 70% Less Pain AFTER JUST ONE SESSION! A recent study published in Internal Medicine, showed that patients with chronic pain saw their pain levels drop by nearly 70% after their first session of infrared sauna therapy. Pain scores remained low throughout the observation period.9
Reduce blood pressure WITHOUT drugs
Infrared saunas have been clinically shown to provide one of the best, natural ways to lower blood pressure. In a 2005 clinical study by the University of Missouri Kansas City, infrared saunas were shown to lower blood pressure through a program of 30-minute infrared sauna sessions just three times per week.

The study concluded that infrared sauna therapy dilated blood vessels and reduced the thickness of their inner lining. This increased circulation and promoted healthy blood pressure.10

What's more, a Japanese study published in the October 2008 issue of The Journal of Cardiology examined the clinical effectiveness and safety of infrared blood pressure therapy, as compared to standard therapies for patients with chronic heart failure. The report concluded that far-infrared sauna therapy is both safe and effective at improving clinical symptoms and cardiac function in chronic heart failure patients. Repeated infrared sauna treatments improved impaired blood vessel functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. This suggests a preventive role for infrared sauna use for arteriosclerosis.11
Reverse heart disease
A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology showed that infrared saunas help improve the function of impaired vascular endothelial cells in patients who are at risk for coronary artery disease. The infrared heat of the sauna opens capillaries to improve blood flow. 15 minutes in an infrared sauna each day for 14 days improved the function of the endothelial cells lining the arteries by 40%.12

Research also shows that infrared saunas help:
  • Relieve arrhythmias: A clinical study explored the therapeutic use of infrared saunas for patients in the end-stage of congestive heart failure. It showed that saunas helped relieve arrhythmias (an irregularity in the force or rhythm of the heartbeat).13
  • Improve congestive heart failure: In the Journal of Cardiac Failure, researchers reported statistical improvements in blood pressure, strength of heart (ejection fraction on echocardiogram), and exercise tolerance in patients treated with saunas. Saunas also helped reduce the number of hospital admissions for this condition.14
Other important health benefits
It's hard to think of an aspect of health and wellness that infrared saunas don't benefit. But other clinical studies show that infrared saunas can help you:
  • Relieve Depression: A study published in Psychosomatic Medicine looked at a group of 28 mildly depressed patients. Half of the patients utilized an infrared sauna once a day for 4 weeks and the other half had just bed rest for 4 weeks. The sauna group showed a significant improvement compared to the control group.15
  • Boost Your Immunity: Infrared saunas are clinically shown to help patients with weak immune systems, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) infections. MRSA is a potentially deadly bacterial infection that is resistant to most antibiotics. Infrared therapy knocked out the MRSA pathogens without causing increased inflammation.16 Another study from NASA showed that near infrared therapy, delivered by LEDs deep into body tissue, can quadruple cell health and tissue growth.
  • Give You Healthier, Younger-Looking Skin: A study published in The Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy showed significant improvements in skin appearance after just 12 weeks of sauna skin therapy using near-infrared technology. Participants saw a reduction in wrinkles and crow's feet, as well as improved overall skin tone, including softness, smoothness, elasticity, clarity and firmness.17
The health-boosting power of light
Most infrared saunas on the market produce only far infrared. However, a new development in the field is full-spectrum infrared. These are saunas that provide all of the benefits associated with far-, mid- and near-infrared rays. For instance, near-infrared energy stimulates the body's natural healing powers. Scientists call this photobiomodulation. In cancer patients, near-infrared is used for healing chemotherapy-induced ulcers and wound healing.18
Boost your cellular energy for supercharged healing
[Image] Table 1    Near-infrared energy boosts your cells' ability to create energy. This can help stimulate your immune system and your overall healing. It helps your liver, kidneys, intestines, lungs, skin, and other detox organs to neutralize toxins and work at peak efficiency. To create energy, the mitochondria (the power-generating centers inside every cell) depend on an enzyme called Cytochrome c oxidase. Studies show that infrared therapy recharges mitochondria. It boosts their levels of oxygen and cytochrome c oxidase. This can help you maintain a cellular energy level that's usually only seen in young people.20
How to use infrared saunas

If you're already in good health, a 30-40 minute sauna session three or more times a week will do. Or if you're trying to heal a specific health condition, some doctors prescribe daily or even multiple sessions each day.21

You can try an infrared sauna at a local health club, spa, or massage therapist. A typical fee is $30-$45 per 30-minute session. I also recommend purchasing one yourself. An excellent, cutting-edge manufacturer is Sunlighten, offering clinically backed full-spectrum infrared saunas. Visit their website or call 1-877-292-0020. Another reputable (albeit more expensive) brand is TheraSauna. Infrared saunas, with their myriad health benefits, are definitely an at-home therapy option worth checking out.

If you decide to contact these companies you should mention that you read about infrared saunas in Cancer Defeated. But please be aware that these companies can’t give you advice about treatment for cancer or any other disease. It’s against the law for them to do that. You’d be wasting your time and theirs to ask what saunas can do for cancer and probably for most other health conditions. That’s why you need to read Cancer Defeated (and other sources of health information.) We have the first amendment right to tell you what supplement marketers and other vendors aren’t allowed to.

Kindest regards,

The most toxic food in your supermarket

Cancer Defeated Publications

This Could be the Most Toxic Food
In Your Supermarket

If you believe commercials, chewing gum on a regular basis makes life better. The habit can help you lose weight, keep your breath fresh, and even protect and clean your teeth.

Sounds nice enough. And because you don't swallow chewing gum, it's natural not to worry about what's used to make the product. But if you look at the actual ingredients in chewing gum brands, they tell a different story...

Continued below...

Colonoscopy Crisis: Why are these doctors
canceling colonoscopies?
This video is not for the faint of heart.

These recently discovered details are gruesome...but they change everything we know about colonoscopies.

And many doctors will not reveal this information to their patients. Why? Because they can't stand to part with the $7,000 (or more) price tags.

Just watch one minute of this presentation and you'll understand--canceling your next colonoscopy could be the best decision you've ever made for your health.

    When you're ready--visit here.

If you're 50, and especially if you're over 65--you must watch this presentation. This new information regarding colonoscopies could save your life.

The toxic ingredients of chewing gum
Here's why gum may be the most toxic product you can buy in a store that's legally intended for internal use. It contains, in varying levels, the following disease-causing ingredients:
  • Titanium dioxide: Commonly used as a whitening agent in chewing gum. Unfortunately, this potentially carcinogenic agent has been implicated in the development of certain autoimmune disorders including Crohn's disease and asthma. Chewing gum, in fact, has the highest levels of titanium dioxide out of all foods commonly consumed by children, with manufactured sweets and candies coming in close behind.
  • Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT): This particularly toxic compound has been banned in several countries including the United Kingdom and Japan, but in the U.S. it's commonly used as a preservative. BHT is potentially carcinogenic and has been implicated in health issues like kidney and liver damage, organ system toxicity, and even hyperactivity in children of younger ages, possibly leading to ADHD.
  • Gum base: Gum manufacturers typically slap this ingredient on a label, though few people know what it means. In reality, it's a mix of resins, plasticizers, fillers, and elastomers. Which, looked at in more detail, include polyvinyl acetate (that's carpenter's glue), talc (which has previous links to cancer including lung and ovarian cancer), and paraffin wax derived from petroleum. You might as well chew on tire rubber and plastic.
  • Aspartame: We've written about the risks of artificial sweeteners before, and aspartame is no exception. It's been linked to brain tumors and cancers, as well as diabetes, neurological disorders, and birth defects. And once aspartame is metabolized into your body it turns into wood alcohol and formaldehyde.
  • Acesulfame potassium (acesulfame K): Little is known about this compound, besides the fact that it has properties similar to aspartame. It's also believed to be a carcinogen, and animal studies have shown a correlation between different types of tumors and acesulfame potassium.
  • Calcium casein peptone: Also known as calcium phosphate, this substance is a highly processed derivative of milk and is believed to be used as a whitening agent in certain brands of gum. There's simply not enough known about this compound.
  • Sorbitol, xylitol, mannitol, and maltitol: These are sugar alcohols made from sugar but altered enough to legally be considered "sugar free." None are particularly good for the body (about as good for you as sugar), and side effects include abdominal pain and diarrhea. I know this news about xylitol will surprise some of my readers, because many in the alternative health community think it's an ideal sugar substitute. As an ingredient in gum, it apparently does help whiten teeth and prevent tooth decay. But our research indicates you should avoid it. Xylitol is known to be lethal to animals and may have negative effects on children who consume xylitol gum.
Which brings us to a question that might be on your mind: Since you don't swallow gum, is it even worth worrying about these ingredients? In fact, swallowing is almost better than chewing on it. Then at least it would have to pass through your digestive system where your body would work to filter out some of the toxins.

Instead, thanks to continuous chewing over an extended period of time, toxic ingredients in chewing gum get absorbed through the walls of your mouth and directly into your bloodstream.
Gum causes other problems than cancer…
Besides the slew of cancer-causing ingredients, there are other reasons chewing gum is bad for your health. For starters, it causes wear-and-tear of the cartilage along your jaw joints. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber for those joints. If it's worn out, jaw movement can become extremely painful.

Regular gum-chewing also puts pressure on the nerves that run through various muscles in your face. It takes eight different facial muscles to chew gum, and the accumulation of pressure can lead to tightness in the muscles, in turn leading to chronic headaches.

And, no, chewing gum does not help with weight loss. Studies show regular gum-chewers actually tend to be overweight, likely because the sweetness of gum leads to more sugar cravings. On top of that, fruits and vegetables can taste bitter after chewing gum.

Note that chewing gum can also damage dental fillings or braces. If you have dental fillings with mercury, chewing gum can break them down and release toxic mercury vapor into your body. And if you chew gum made with real sugar, that regular coating of sugar on your teeth can cause cavities.
The anti-cancer chew
Before I close, I feel I should tell you about an interesting twist to gum and cancer. Finnish researchers appear to be working on a special type of chewing gum that actually keeps cancer at bay. They made a gum with a compound that cleans up acetaldehyde levels in the mouth.

Acetaldehyde is a chemical that's been linked to cancers of the mouth, stomach, and esophagus. In this particular brand of gum, there's a chemical called cysteine that gets slowly released as you chew. Cysteine reacts with acetaldehyde so it is no longer harmful. And although research proves cysteine reduces acetaldehyde levels in the mouth, researchers have yet to prove whether this can actually reduce cancer cases.

If it works, it'll be particularly beneficial to those who smoke and drink heavily. Doing either raises the levels of acetaldehyde in your mouth and the upper part of your digestive tract. It's certainly not a substitute for healthy habits, and the best way to avoid cancer is not to smoke, drink heavily, or engage in any other behaviors that harm your body.

A gum like this is more likely to help those whose genes put them at higher risk, as opposed to their behaviors, such as people who suffer from the condition called achlorhydria, in which the stomach doesn't make enough acid. A gum like this might—emphasis on might—help reduce their likelihood of developing gastric cancer.
The natural gum solution
If you simply can't resist the urge to chew, at least go for a natural gum. Many of these are made from chicle, from a tree native to Central America. At one time, all chewing gum was made from this, but it requires a manufacturing expense few companies care to take on. However, you can buy natural gum online and at most health food stores.

Or, if you're worried about your breath, then tote around a small bottle of organic, food-grade peppermint oil. One drop in your mouth achieves the same effect as chewing gum, but without risking your health.
