God Delights in Using Broken Things . . .

IT WAS AN ARID DAY The dry, balmy breeze cooled the lonely shepherd as he sat quietly upon the grassy knoll watching his flock graze lazily in the sun.

It had been forty years now. So long ago and yet it seemed in one way just like yesterday. At times the memory of Pharaoh's courts was like a story so far in the past that he could scarcely remember the detail. At other times it seemed so vivid he had to pinch himself to be sure he wasn't still there.

How could he have ever thought that he would be able to deliver his beloved people from the cruelty of Egyptian slavery! Sometimes at the thought his heart would still break in sorrow because of his people's suffering. At other times the circumstances of his shepherd life, the remoteness of the wilderness, the cares of his family, the peace of the pastoral scenes that surrounded him caused such thoughts to be so remote that they were virtually nonexistent.

Today the memory replayed vividly in the sanctuary of his mind. Just now he was thinking of the times when as a boy he would slip away from the palace, without Pharaoh's daughter knowing it and visit with his father and mother, his brother and sister. There he would sit and listen for hours of the story of his birth and his miraculous escape from certain death in the Nile River.

"Why was I in the Nile River in a basket, mother?" he would ask again and again. Over and over his mother would give him the same answer.

"The Hebrew people had grown mighty in number since they had been in the land of Egypt, "she would explain. "In fact they had become so great that Pharaoh was afraid that if war broke out we might join his enemies and escape from Egypt. So Pharaoh ordered that all the male babies be thrown into the river. I could not bear to see that happen. So I hid you as long as I could, then I made a little basket, put you in it and put it in the reeds along the bank of the Nile. When Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe, she saw the basket and opened it and found you. She couldn't bear the thought of you being left to die, so she took you home to Pharaoh's palace to be her own son. "

"Never forget, my son, the deliverance of God. I am sure that He saved you for a purpose. The time is drawing near for the fulfillment of the promise that God gave to our father Abraham."

"What was that promise, mother?" Moses would always ask in boyhood curiosity.

"Our father Abraham had been speaking with God all day when toward the end of the day he prepared an altar unto the Lord and laid the sacrifice upon it. As the sun was setting Abraham fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. Then the Lord said to him, 'Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.' Then when the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking fire pot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the sacrifice. On that day the Lord made a covenant with our father Abraham and promised to give his descendants a land flowing with milk and honey."

He didn't know why, but when his mother told this story his heart would always burn within him so that he scarcely could contain himself. Even now as he recalled her words that same fire seemed to blaze again within his soul. She would always add, "Moses, that 400 years of slavery is just about up. It is the time of deliverance for God's people. Don't you ever think that you alone were spared from all the other Hebrew boys and that you are living in Pharaoh's palace as his own son by accident!"

As he had grown up to manhood he somehow couldn't shake his mother's words. Perhaps that is why I am here, he had thought. Perhaps that is why I am being schooled in all the wisdom of Egypt, perhaps that is why I am becoming an expert in all the martial arts of war and leadership. Perhaps that is why I am next in line to Pharaoh's throne. I am the one God has ordained to deliver Israel. As he meditated upon these thoughts his soul seemed to become engulfed in flames.

One day after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He became enraged as he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew. Quickly he looked around and seeing that no one was around he struck the Egyptian and killed him and hid his body in the sand.

Sure, he had been a little nervous when he had returned to the palace, but he had consoled himself in the miraculous events that surrounded his life and in his certainty of God's call upon him as deliverer of Israel. God would surely protect him now. As for the Hebrews, perhaps they would begin to realize that he was their ally who at the right time would overthrow Pharaoh and bring them deliverance.

The next day he had gone out and seen two Hebrews fighting one another. "Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?" he asked.

The man said, "Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing us as you killed the Egyptian?"

He could never forget the terror that struck his heart when he found out that his deed had become known. Learning that Pharaoh was trying to kill him, he had fled from Pharaoh and the land of Egypt and had gone to Midian. There he had befriended Jethro the, priest of Midian, and had married his daughter Zipporah.

Well that had been 40 years ago and now he wondered why he had ever in his wildest imagination thought that he, the boy of a Hebrew slave, could have ever stood alone against the most powerful Pharaoh and army in all the world and overcome them. The thought of all these things grieved him deeply. As he sat on the grassy knoll watching his sheep in the evening sunset he wondered why after all these years the memory on this evening came back so vividly in all its agony and glory.

As Moses drifted back to reality, he realized that he must be up and going before it got too much darker. Calling his sheep unto him, Moses turned once again toward the rocky path toward home. As Moses came near Mount Horeb, a strange sight suddenly captured his attention. A bush appeared to be on fire but was not burnt up.

"Now this is unusual," Moses thought. "I'll go over there and see why this bush is burning but is not being consumed by the flames." As Moses approached the burning bush there seemed to be an unearthly Presence that pervaded the whole mountain side. He wanted to draw closer, and yet wanted to run away all at the same time. But the closer he got, it seemed as though an irresistible magnetic force drew him toward the flames. It was then that a Voice called to him from the flames and said "Moses, Moses!"

The Call of God

Somehow in the deepest recesses of his soul Moses knew that this was the Voice of God. At first Moses was so overwhelmed that he could not find words to speak. Finally he was only able to stammer out, "Here I am."

God answered with a voice that was so majestic that it caused every fiber of Moses being to vibrate with awe. "Don't come any closer. Take off your shoes, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." Moses took off his shoes and knelt before the Holy Presence in the bush.

God spoke again. "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." An absolute Holy fear engulfed his whole being and Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

"I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, " God continued. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me. I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

"What? Me?" Moses thought. "Me? When I was young and full of energy and well versed in all the wisdom of Egypt maybe then I could have done it , but now ... now I am an old man. I have forgotten just about everything I have learned. I have no power, no army, nothing but a few docile sheep here on the backside of the desert. Surely God must be mistaken! No, I could never do it."

Finally Moses was able to to get out a few words, "Who am I, Lord, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

Now we see the self confident spirit of Moses completely broken as he realizes his own inadequacy for the job.

God answered, "I will be with you ... Tell them Moses, I Am has sent you to them."

This is the key that led to Moses success. He was only a man with a shepherd's rod but through God's anointing, through obedience to God's commands, he was able to bring down the mightiest empire in the world.

In essence God said, Moses it really doesn't matter who you are. It is who I Am that really counts. I Am that I Am. It was not who Moses was that mattered at all, it was who God was that was all that mattered! For God promised Moses that as he went forward at God's command, all the power of heaven would back him up.

Divine Encounters

It was basically this same confession that Moses made at the burning bush that God had wrung from the lips of Job so many years before. During a great period of immense suffering, trial, and hardship, forsaken and misunderstood by all who had loved him, Job maintained the confession of his righteousness. But when he saw God, he cried out, "My ears have heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes."

It was the same realization that Peter came to when before Christ's crucifixion, he had boldly proclaimed, "Lord, even if all fall away on account of you I never will. I am ready to go with you to prison and to death!" But Jesus answered and said, "Peter, will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times?" And sure enough, as Peter stood outside the palace of the high priest, denying that he ever knew Jesus, that his eye caught sight of the Master, the rooster crowed for the second time and he went out and wept bitterly.

It was the same confession God evoked from Isaiah when in the midst of his ministry, after he had pronounced many judgments and woes to Israel, that He saw the Lord high and lifted up with his train filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him who was so Holy that even these Holy and worshipful creatures could not look upon Him, but covered their faces with their wings and cried out, "Holy, Holy Holy is the Lord of Hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory".

As they cried out with a sound so grand and glorious that the door posts of the temple began to move and shake, the glory of the Lord began to roll into that temple like a cloud until the whole house was filled with smoke from His glory! When Isaiah beheld the Lord in such glory, he cried out confessing his sin and the sin of his nation saying, "Woe is me! I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell among a people of unclean lips!" That confession brought an angel with a coal from off the altar to touch and cleanse him. And brought an invitation of future service from the Lord.

These kind of experiences are unusual in America today. We live in a nation in which the mind set in the church and nation emphasize the need for self-esteem, a better self image, and an easy going quest for self preservation. Alan Bloom observed in his book Closing of the American Mind, "A few years ago I chatted with a taxi driver in Atlanta who told me he had just gotten out of prison, where he served time for peddling dope. Happily he had undergone therapy. I asked what kind. He responded, "all kinds - depth-psychology, transactional analysis ... He said that he had found his identity and learned to like himself. A generation earlier he would have found God and learned to despise himself as a sinner."

The Men and Women God Uses

There has always been personal revival before public revival in the men and women God uses. This revival has always produced basically the same effects. It convinces man of his total inadequacy and insufficiency before God. It convicts man of his self-life, of his own efforts. It reveals to man God's glory, majesty, and power. It calls man to service, but at the same time convinces that man or woman that there is no way to perform that service apart from intimate fellowship and empowering from the Lord.

The men and women God uses have always had the testimony of a close walk with God and and have longed for a holy life. They are men and women with a sensitive conscience. John Wesley declared in 1734: "My one aim in life is to secure personal holiness, for without being holy myself, I cannot promote real holiness in others."

Without exception they fear God and sin, and above all else fear losing that sense of God's Presence. The Person of Christ is their center, their focus and He is pre-eminent in their thoughts and hearts. Men and women who God uses in revival know that sin will grieve and quench the Holy Spirit. Their zeal for God is equalled only by their fear of offending Him.

These revivalists were men and women who did not bring messages about God or salvation from Bible texts alone, but they were men and women who brought messages from God. Their messages moved men and women to repentance and a changed life. They did not preach about Christ; they preached Christ. And they held forth the cross as not only the path to salvation, but the only path to a deeper walk with God.

They were men and women who loved God's Word. George Whitefield, revivalist of the First Great Awakening, wrote of his love for the word of God, "I began to read the Holy Scriptures upon my knees, laying aside all other books and praying over, if possible, every line and word. This proved meat and drink indeed to my soul. I daily received fresh light and power from above. I got more true knowledge from reading the Book of God in one month than I could ever have acquired from all the writings of men."

These were not extinct volcanos whose celestial fires had gone out. They were men and women whose inner fires erupted and engulfed the world around them in flames. They gave God the honor in everything He did through them. George Whitefield wrote in his diary, " I Pray that I may be very little in my own eyes, and not rob my dear master of any part of His glory." Those used in the revival in Scotland in 1921 were said to have "A humble idea of their own ability."

A New Vision of Jesus Christ

Douglas Brown wrote, "Revival begins with a vision, and the vision begins with a new sense of Jesus Christ." It will be noted that in each of these men's lives they had come back to Christ - the true Center of everything. It was not their vision, not some aspect of the truth, not to some particular doctrine, but their inner being had returned to an all consuming vision and relationship with Jesus Christ. Many Christians are preoccupied with mere things. Some are leader centered, some message centered, some problem centered. It is God's desire that we become centered upon the Person of Jesus Christ. It is God's desire not that we come to know truth, but that we come to know the Person, the living Person of Jesus Christ who is all truth. And to be consumed with love and worship for Him.

Here is the test. What are you occupied with? What has become central? Is it some leader? Some system of truth? Is it some church and its ministry? Is it some experience we can obtain? It is possible to have been seeking all kinds of things, but to have missed Him. Our motive in praying for revival cannot be because we want to improve our reputation, vindicate our theology, have the biggest church in town, or just want an exciting experience.

Revival is returning to Christ as the true Center. It is setting aside all our hectic schedules, our better management, our better structures, our extravagant claims and glittering showmanship and admitting our true condition. And seeking instead that seeming unproductive and unnoticed sweet hour of prayer in which we seek our First Love and seek to be brought into intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Are we willing if necessary to break every habit, cancel every magazine or newspaper, sell our television, burn our novels, in short, to rid ourselves of everything that keeps us from drawing near to God in prayer and fellowship and make seeking God the greatest aim of our lives?

God Answers Prayer

When Israel cried out because of their bondage and oppression God answered in the "Burning Bush." When Isaiah saw the Exalted Lord of glory and cried out in conviction of sin, God answered with a coal of fire from off the altar, and a new calling and anointing. When Job beheld the All Glorious One, he repented of his self righteousness, forgave his friends, and God restored the fortunes of Job and gave him twice as much as he had before. The latter end of Job's life was greater than its beginning.When Peter caught a glimpse of his beaten Savior in the courtyard of the high priest, he went out and wept bitterly. The resurrected Christ appeared to him in forgiveness and cleansing and commissioned him to shepherd and feed His sheep.

On the Day of Pentecost 120 people had been crying out in desperate prayer for ten days in obedience to the commandment of the Resurrected Christ. God answered with tongues of fire and a mighty baptism in the Holy Spirit. As a result 3,000 were converted in a single day. When God's people become revived, when Jesus becomes the true center of their lives, and when worship, commitment, and the whole life is unto Him, then the ungodly are converted, regenerated and transformed. R.A. Torrey observed, "Drunkards become sober, impure men and women become pure. Thieves become honest men and industrious citizens; and lazy people get down gladly to hard work. A true revival always begins in the hearts of Christians but it never ends there." It extends outward to bring a lost and dying world unto God.

The Beauty of Jesus Christ

It wasn't who Moses was, who Isaiah, Job, Peter, George Whitefield, or John Wesley was that really mattered at all. It was Who He was and is that is all that really mattered.

Who was He? He was the One who Daniel saw whose garments were like white snow, the hair of his head was like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames and a river of fire was flowing out before Him! He is the One whom the Apostle John saw on the Isle of Patmos as he was exiled for the gospel, Whose eyes were like a flame of fire, Whose feet were like burnished bronze as when it is caused to glow in a furnace, Whose face was like the sun shining in its strength.

Who was He? He is the One who said, "I am the First and the Last. I am He that lives and was dead, and behold I am alive forever more and I have the keys of hell and of death!"

Who was He? When John saw the heavens opened, He was the One who was seated upon a white horses whose eyes are a flame of fire. He is the One whose name is called Faithful and True who in righteousness judges and wages war. He is the One upon whose head are many diadems, for all the kingdoms He has conquered. And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood and His name is called the Word of God, and the armies which are in heaven follow Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword so that with it He may smite the nations and He will rule them with a rod of iron with which to rule the nations and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of Almighty God. And on His robe and on His thigh he has a name written - King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

He is the One who is crying out in Communist lands and in places that were once the great spawning grounds of atheism and the great breeding grounds of anti-Christian thought saying, "The time has come to gather all nations and tongues, and those who have not heard of My Name shall come and see My glory. For I will pour out My Holy Spirit on all mankind, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy and all mankind shall come and bow before Me."

He is the One who is knocking at the door of the churches in America and crying, "You are rich and have become wealthy and have need of nothing, and you do not know that you are wretched miserable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and fellowship with him and he with Me."

It does not matter who you are, or what walk of life you come from, chances are that you are aware of the 2nd Amendment of the Bill Of Rights. This said, you are also aware of the constant battle between those who wish to keep and those who wish to change or do away totally with this amendment. This said, we will go further into the raging battle that has drawn so many into the Debate--Guns or No Guns.

First-let's let's look at the wording of the Second Amendment that is drawing so much debate:

" A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. "

There are numerous opinions to the use of the word "Militia" in this statement. What did the Forefathers mean, when they stated "Militia"? Let's ask them!!!

"A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves … and include all men capable of bearing arms," declared Richard Henry Lee, a First Congress senator. "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms."

"Who are the militia?" asked Tench Coxe, delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress. "Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American… [T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."

A simple search for the opinions of the Forefathers will inform anyone, that the "Militia", was in fact "The People". Those wishing to Twist the words of the Bill Of Rights can only impress the un-knowing---The words and meanings of the Forefathers and the "Bill Of Right's" are clear---"Shall not Be Infringed"

So why is the support for peoples rights to bear arms different from the rights of Speech or Religion?

It isn't---All people will stand up for their freedom of Speech ( Everyone wants to speak their opinion ).

All people want to practice their beliefs---and they have the right to do so.

This is why there can be no "All Out Attack" on these Right's-You would be challenging "All People"

When it comes to the Freedom of the Second Amendment---All people, do not own firearms. Many people are not involved in the Defence of the Second Amendment, because they do not believe it applies to them ( They do not own firearms ) This could not be further from the truth!!!

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't

pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for,

protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend

our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it

was once like in the United States where men were free." -- Ronald Reagan

Freedom--This is the root of those seeking to defend the Right given to us by the Bill Of Right's. The defence of the 2nd Amendment is not only at the heart of every Firearms owner, It should also be of great importance to anyone who is thankful for the free life we live in this country, whether they own a firearm or not. Why? Because we live in a nation that was built on freedom----There is no Bill of Guns---Only a Bill Of Rights. I may not agree with what you say, I may not agree with your religion, however I will defend your right's. Will you defend mine??

3 SPO’s to Protect the Passing Game and create opportunities in space

The RPO revolution certainly has not ended.  The run game will continue to be protected by the RPO.  The next tool that offenses will focus on is the SPO or Screen Pass Option.  Some coaches also call this the Pass Screen Option or PSO. 

 Either way, it’s a good way to throw the ball downfield to an open receiver OR get the ball to a player who has blockers with the screen.

Why screens in general?  Kevin Morris, offensive coordinator at Penn, explains how the screen game is beneficial to the offense in this video (click here for video):

In its simplest form, you don’t even have to pull a lineman.  The QB can be taught to understand safety rotation and numbers and either take the downfield throw or reset and throw to a perimeter screen as explained in this video with slot-fade one side and a smoke screen on the other:

Adding the linemen into the screen game certainty takes the timing for the linemen, but provides explosive play opportunity. The premise is relatively simple.  The quarterback will drop looking at his read and be thinking “Pass Unless.” Here is an example from Coach Morris with the screen to the field:

When the linebacker moves to take away the downfield running lane, most certainly the numbers are good for the running back screen.  Here’s an example from Bobby Acosta, new head coach at Del Valle HS in Texas:

This may take some thought on how you can fit this into your offense and certainly will take some practice drilling the timing of the screen, but the PSO/SPO gives your offense the ability to get the ball to a player in space and gain big yards.

Golf is a game that requires a combination of a few different skills. The first is the ability to put the ball in play with a tee shot. The next is the approach shot to the green. The last step, and most important, is the short game. The short game is a combination of pitching, chipping, bunker shots, and putting.

Why is short game so important?

A golfer’s short game is a part of golf that is often overlooked. Many golfers neglect their short game because they want to be able to hit long drives. Golfers think they will play well because they hit the ball further than others. This is a common misconception. The majority of shots are played on or around the green. This is why it is instrumental to have a sharp short game.

Types of short game shots

Pitching: Mastering the pitching technique is essential for achieving accurate and controlled shots around the green. Focus on maintaining a consistent tempo, using the proper club selection, and executing a smooth, controlled swing. Develop a reliable short backswing and follow through with a downward strike to generate optimal height and spin.

Chipping: Chipping requires precision and touch. Use a variety of clubs, such as a pitching wedge, sand wedge, or even a hybrid, to execute a range of chip shots depending on the lie and desired trajectory. Practice distance control by varying the length of your backswing and focusing on the rhythm of your swing. Experiment with different landing spots to develop versatility in approaching the green.

Bunker Shots: Bunker shots can be intimidating but with proper technique, they can be mastered. Start by opening the clubface and aiming slightly left of your target. Position the ball slightly forward in your stance and focus on making a shallow, controlled swing. Use the sand to your advantage by entering the sand a couple of inches before striking the ball, allowing the club to slide underneath it.

Putting: Arguably the most crucial aspect of the short game, putting demands precision and consistency. Develop a consistent putting routine, focusing on alignment, grip, and a smooth pendulum-like stroke. Practice lag putting to improve distance control, and dedicate time to mastering short putts to ensure confidence under pressure.

Ways to Improve

Focus on Distance Control: One of the keys to success in the short game is distance control. Practice hitting shots to specific targets at various distances to develop a feel for different clubs and swing lengths. This will enhance your ability to gauge the necessary force and touch required for different shots around the green.

Mental Game: The short game heavily relies on mental fortitude and decision-making. Stay focused and visualize your shots before execution. Develop a pre-shot routine that helps you get into the right mindset and approach each shot with confidence.

Practice Variety: Vary your practice sessions to simulate real-life playing conditions. Include uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies in your training routine. Experiment with different slopes and bunker conditions to become comfortable with a wide range of scenarios you might encounter on the course.

Short Game Challenges: Set up specific challenges or games during practice sessions to enhance competitiveness and simulate on-course pressure. For example, create a putting course with different distances and obstacles or challenge yourself to get out of a bunker in the fewest strokes possible.

The Rock Almighty: What does it mean when God says you are dead to the law?

You Are Dead to the Law

For some of us, in our early years, the church we attended stressed obeying what is called the ten commandments. Do you remember every one of them? I don’t. Well, here they are from the book of Exodus 20:3-8.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Thou shalt not kill.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

So, you tried as best you could to obey them. And if you were successful, you were probably characterized as someone who was living a moral, godly life. Right? As for myself, when I reached my late teenage years and started hanging around with a peer group that didn’t go to church but rather enjoyed the pleasures of sin, it’s not surprising that I stopped going. I got involved as we’ve heard others quote this line, with sex, drugs, and rock n roll. By my mid-twenties, my life was out of control. I didn’t like anything about it.

As I mentioned earlier in this study, and will briefly, here again, I decided to attend the various faiths in my home town, hoping to find a God that would work with me in changing my life. What I found out was that most churches emphasized learning about the doctrines of their faith and the need to stop sinning. Certain sins were considered more egregious than others. I tried this approach, hoping that I’d draw closer to God, but He was nowhere to be found.

I kept on attending different faiths until one of them presented the gospel of grace to me. I responded to it and was immersed in God’s love, peace, and joy. Thoughts of sinning were gone, at least for a short period of time. While sinful desires did come back, I began to learn how to address them.

What I learned was that it wasn’t by obeying a command of the Mosaic Law that addressed my sinful tendencies. Even if I tried as hard as I could to stop doing this or that, this didn’t stop the sinful thoughts from coming back again and again and imprisoning me once more. But I was set free by changing my thoughts concerning whatever sinful area it was that was trying to resurface and urge me to engage in it again. Let me give you one example of what I mean.

What if you’re attracted to a fellow believer and begin entertaining thoughts of desiring to have a sexual relationship with them. How could this be addressed?

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

New Testament Scripture says that we should confess known sin (mental, verbal, or overt) to God the Father. Under the Law of the Old Testament, we’d simply try not to commit this sin according to one of the commandments. But, in the New Testament addressing our thoughts is of paramount importance. What we need to do next is recall Scripture and reflect upon it that provides us with what our spiritual perspective should be in this area. A verse from the book of 1 Peter will enlighten us in this regard.

1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

We’re instructed to love one another with a pure heart. The word pure means not for the love of ourselves or to not use for our advantage. And the word heart means mind. Next, I’d recommend rewriting this verse, memorizing it, and applying it when needed.

1 Peter 1:22b … see that ye love one another with a pure (not for the love of ourselves; to not use for our advantage) heart (mind) fervently:

What we’re learning to do is think how God would have us think, which is according to His illumination of such in the Epistles. And guess what amazing thing happens? The book of 1 John will tell us so.

1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

As we choose to continually keep God’s word (all that he has made known to us as His will in regard to our conduct), the love of God (love produced in us by the Holy Spirit) will be perfected (manifested; an experiential realization of divine affection; characterized, not by any representative trait or quality of [our personality], but merely as the subject of the work of divine love.141

We’re no longer trying to obey an Old Testament command but confess sin and change how we think under a new dispensation of thought. When we do this, the passions of the sin nature that would continue to reign under the Law will be replaced with the fruit or influences of the Holy Spirit. And as such, our thoughts and thus our responses toward fellow believers and unbelievers will be Christ-centered.

So, what does the Word of God say is the relationship between Christians and the Mosaic Law? Please go to the book of Romans.

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

It says that you are dead to the law at salvation. You are completely delivered from its authority as a covenant of works, and more especially from its power to condemn142 because of Christ’s death on the cross. It’s no longer the regulatory system for spiritual growth. Does it have any usefulness? Yes, the Law still has its place, but not for us. If not for us, then who? A verse from the book of 1 Timothy will tell us so.

1 Timothy 1:8-9 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

The law is good (morally excellent), if a man use it lawfully (as it should be used). This begs the question; how should it be used? The Law is designed to show people their sinfulness. [Thus,] the Law is not for one who had already recognized his sin and turned to Christ. That person is no longer under the Law but should now walk in the Spirit ([Galatians] 5:13-26). The Law is intended for those who remain unconvinced of their sin.143

So, remember, you’re dead to the law, i.e., like a widow released from marital obligations, so [you’re] released from the Law and its arousal to sin. The purpose of this release “from the Law” is so that [you] may [serve in] the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.144

Speed Training

Tony has varied training focus points varying from week to week throughout his 12-week program, but what he centers the majority of his training around is speed.

While there are various exercises and methods Tony does to exploit speed in hockey for his students, this circuit provides students with a great workout that focuses on explosiveness. Being able to escape your defender can be difficult if you don’t have the power, and this circuit provides you the tools to escape anyone.

Tony’s workouts are all quick-paced with multiple exercises in each round, and this circuit is no different. Despite all of these circuits being challenging, find the beauty in the pain and the capability to push as hard as you can.

This circuit is 5 rounds, 5 reps for each exercise, including; back split lunges

weighted squat jumps, plate overhead lunges, lateral squat to knee drive, and stiff-legged eccentric deadlift. Take a look for yourself.

Mobility

Strength is certainly an important aspect of hockey, but flexibility and mobility are also incredibly essential.

To perform at the highest degree your body has to be warmed up, and Tony teaches his students how to appropriately do so. We often try to jump into training very quickly, but Tony acquaints his students with how to warm up properly and apply it to not only off-ice training but could also surely be applied on the ice before games. 

Tony may have a large focus on strength in his course, but he prides himself on teaching his students the importance of being loose and flexible. So every player is fully able to train safely and also perform to the best of their ability.

Strength Training

Strength is the main focus for anyone getting into off-ice training, and this module will do you justice.

Gaining strength is not easy, and this module equips participants with the power every player wants in the game of hockey. And while gaining strength is something every athlete desires, this circuit is not for the faint-hearted. These workouts make you earn it, no doubt about it.

These exercises are quick and challenging, but undoubtedly routines you can imagine aiding you to become a great hockey player. Tony encourages you to push beyond your limits, and this will indeed introduce you to your limits.

This circuit is five reps for each exercise, and four rounds with the following exercises; hang clean to press, alternating splitter hang cleans, split lunges to press and finishing off with splitters to skaters.

What Will the Job of the Christian be in the Kingdom of God?

Millions who profess a belief in Christ falsely believe that the reward of the just is going to heaven to be with God; those who believe this have no understanding of what they are going to do in heaven, but their thinking is that they been called to get saved so they can go to heaven.

The Kingdom of God Will be on earth

Jesus revealed that He would return to rule on this earth with his saints – who will be resurrected from the dead along with those living and be changed from flesh to Spirit or made immortal at this his second coming. Revelation 5:10 states that these saints of God are to be kings and priests who shall reign on earth.

In speaking of the second coming of Christ, Isaiah 9:7 says, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom …” Jesus Christ is coming and will be in the possession of the Government of God which will be set up on the earth.

In Luke 19: 12, Jesus likened himself to a nobleman who went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins by dying and being resurrected from the dead, HE ascended up to God’s throne – indicating He has qualified and given approval from God the Father to return to earth as the new world ruler of this planet earth. Please notice the announcement that will be made at the sounding of the seventh trumpet: “And the seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ and HE shall reign for ever and ever” (Rev. 11:15). Also, Psalm 72: 8, 11: He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth. Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.”

Christ is coming to not only remove Satan – who is the god of this world (2nd Cor. 4:4), but to take over all human governments of all nations on earth. Christ is coming to ultimately take over the rulership of Russia, China, North Korea, South Korea, India, Britain, Canada and all the rest of the nations on earth; He is going to have a strong rule over them. Revelation 2:26,27 shows that God’s saints, under the authority of Christ, are to have power over the nations and will rule them with a rod of iron. This will be a strong rule so these nations will be required to obey God and come to understand that obedience to God’s law is the way that produces peace and lasting happiness.

The Reward the Church Will Receive

Jesus said, “And, behold I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (Revelation 22: 12). God is going to reward his servants according to what they have done with their Christian calling and how well they overcame in this life; how well they overcome themselves and the wrong and sinful ways of this world that is ruled by Satan – because over coming means the true Christian is required to forsake the ways of this world – setting our affection on the things of God; we must be praying, studying, drawing close to God – growing in grace and understanding – even as 2 Peter 3:18 says.

Notice Jesus said when he comes, reward will be handed out, but what will be the reward of his true and faithful servant?

As previously stated, Jesus, having gone to heaven, pictured by the nobleman going to a far country - and receiving authority from God the Father to be the new ruler of planet earth, will return as such. This means when Christ comes, He will ultimately take over the government of all nations on earth – where the kingdom of God will prevail. Daniel 7:27 speaks of this time – saying: “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most - High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom …” The saints, under the authority of God, shall have possession of the earth as earth wide rulers.

What Will the Job of the Saints be in the Kingdom?

Notice Revelation 5:10: “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” The saints of God are to be given royal rule as kings and religious authority as priests. As priest and kings, some of these kings will rule over various cities and people in the kingdom of God; Jesus exemplified this by saying one would rule over five cities while another will rule over ten cities (Luke 19: 15-18). Revelation Chapter two and chapter three shows some will have authority to rule over the nations with a rod of iron – while other will be pillars in the temple of God.

The Bible actually reveals the reward that men like David and the apostles will receive when Christ return. In speaking of David’s reward, the scripture reveals that when all of the scattered people of Israel are united at the return of Jesus Christ, David is going to be their king and ruler under Christ; Ezekiel 37:24 says, “And David my servant shall be king over them …” In his mortal like, David was king over Israel and in the coming kingdom of God, David will once again be made king over the people, but in a much higher and more exalted position as an immortal ruler in the kingdom of God. In relation to the reward of the twelve apostles, Jesus also revealed that they shall each be given an individual throne to sit on and rule over each of the twelve tribes of Israel (Matt. 19:28). So, it is made very clear what reward David, and the apostles will receive. what a fabulous and exciting promise this is.

But what about the apostle Paul; he was also an apostle; what will be his reward in the kingdom? God has not revealed what Paul’s position will be but considering that Paul was an apostle to the gentiles, we could infer or consider it possible that Paul could also be a king ruling over the gentile nations or at least some portion of the gentile world. Notice I said, some portion of the gentile world; I say this because the prophet Daniel also dealt with the first world ruling empire - Babylon- which was a gentile kingdom; so, it is possible that Paul and Daniel could work as a team - holding tremendous position of authority over the gentile nations.

But what about men like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Just what will their position be in the soon coming kingdom of God? Again, it is not clear what position these men will hold; the Bible does not say but consider this: Abraham is considered to be the father of the faithful, so it is quite reasonable to wonder if Abraham will not then hold position of authority in God’s Government directly under Christ – while Isaac and Jacob may well work together as a team directly under Abraham. Remember, God’s Government is going to be ruled from the Top – Down – meaning there will be an orderly chain of command – with God the father being supremely in charge and Christ will be over all in the kingdom of God; Christ is the King of kings – ruling over all kings; God the Father and Christ are supreme over all that is in existence and all that will ever be, and God does everything through his orderly Government structure. So, it is not unreasonable to consider that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will have top-light position in the Government of God – being right there at the very headquarters with Christ – as part of his administration.

Before continuing I wish to point out that Christ is now sitting on the right of God in heaven on the Father’s throne, because as of now, Jesus Christ is not yet sitting on his own throne; Jesus will be sitting on his own throne when He comes to remove Satan and take over the throne of the earth. Jesus’ throne will not be in heaven; a second throne in heaven could give the appearance that Christ is competing against the throne of the Father; No, Jesus will not only take over the throne of his father David, but the throne of the earth – where He will sit and rule; this is why He said, “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father on his throne” (Rev. 3:21). So, we see there are two thrones involved: the Father’s throne and the throne of Jesus – which will be on earth. They are not competing thrones, but the throne Christ will sit on is approved and given to Him by the Father to administer the rule and Government of God over the earth; it greatly pleases the Father to give that throne to his Son, and HE is also pleased that we too can sit on that throne – under the authority of Christ in the kingdom of God.

In this soon coming kingdom of God, some of the saints are going to receive greater reward than others; it will be so because some will have dedicated themselves to God more fully than others – meaning some will not have studied hard enough; they did not study, pray and overcome as much as they should – by overcoming themselves and the things of the world; they became somewhat careless in their faith. This is why Jesus said there would be those considered least in the kingdom of God (Matt. 5:19).

It may be surprising to some to think that God would is going to consider some to be lesser than others, but HE does, and this is why some are going to have greater position of authority in the Government of God than others; in Luke 19:15-19, Jesus proved this point by showing one servant overcame and was diligent in the things of God that the servant was given the rule over ten cities -while another is given five cities to rule over. But even as someone may be considered least in the kingdom of God, Jesus also made known that even that least person will be greater than John the Baptist (Matt. 11:11). The least in the kingdom is greater than John, because that person has been changed from flesh to Spirit and is therefore greater than the mortal man – John the Baptist – meaning that even the person who is least in God’s kingdom, as an immortal being, is far greater than any mortal human that has ever lived. And even though the least in God’s kingdom will hold lesser positions of authority, all positions given by Christ will be important positions in the Government of God. And I would also like to add that whatever position is assigned to someone in the kingdom of God, that person will be quite satisfied - as there will no feeling of resentment, bitterness, jealousy of any kind; such will never ever be there – because all who will be in God’s kingdom, will have already proven to God in their physical life that they desire to serve and obey him. Not one person who hates and harbors ill will toward another brother or Christian is ever going to be allowed to carry such feeling over into the kingdom of God - as such person will simply never be in God’s kingdom.

Also keep in mind that God is going to give his servants positions of authority that they are best suited for. Remember that we all do not have the same pleasure doing the same thing, and so, Jesus Christ who knows the heart, is going to place each of his servant in the office or job that will bring utmost pleasure to that person. In God’s kingdom, gone are the days when a person complains about their boss or hating what they do for a living- as all of God’s saints are going to be ecstatically happy – filled with joy overflowing in doing their assigned position in the God’s kingdom; they will accomplish great things and will look back on past accomplishments with sheer joy – while joyfully and tirelessly looking ahead to future accomplishments; and why not? We will be Spirit – never getting tired or getting old – aways full of vibrant self-sustaining life that will go on for all eternity – because we are going to live exactly the way God lives. God does not rely on outward things as the source to make him happy, because true happiness and joy radiate out from God and into the things that HE does – meaning God is the true source from which happiness emanates, and we his saints are the recipients of that happiness - which produces a way of life that is of outflowing love, cooperation, peace, joy overflowing, and a life of great purpose and meaning for all eternity; this is why Jesus said, “… I will make you ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” (Matt. 25:23).

If you go to the book of Revelation (2:7,10, and 11, 17, 26 to 28; 3: 4 and 5, 12,21) you will discover that the saints of God are given different promise of the reward they will receive. For example, the Church at Ephesus is told that if it overcame, that person or Christian will “eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God” (Rev. 2:7); another Church – the Church of Thyatira is promised that they would have power over the nations – ruling with a rod of iron under Christ (Rev. 2:26,27). If we skip down to Revelation 3:12, the Philadelphia Church is given the promise that the one who overcomes will be made a pillar in the temple of God. This is a marvelous, wonderful, and exciting promise to the Philadelphians. Notice God says the temple of God – which means the Government of God or where God rules. When Christ comes, He will be ruling in Jerusalem; this is where his headquarters will be, and the promise to the Philadelphians is that they will be there as pillars in the very Headquarters – where Christ is ruling and administering the Government of God.

Remember the Church is built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, this means that as pillars in the temple (Government) of God, these Philadelphians will stand upon the foundation of that temple or Government as bright and outstanding pillars. If you ever visited a building having pillars, those pillars are most likely to attract the attention of people, because pillars are that which provide the main support in a building, therefore, this reference to pillars is Christ’ way of showing the exalted position of authority the Philadelphians will have in the Government of God. This mean the Philadelphians will be at the headquarters where Christ is ruling and they will be empowered to set policies; they will provide teaching, help and assistance to other rulers or kings in the family of God, who may come to headquarters – needing to have decisions made on matters that Christ will determine. You can compare Acts 15 -where the Church had to come to Jerusalem or headquarters to resolve an issue. And although God’s Government will be perfect and orderly, there is no doubt that in the growing civilization of God – with millions and millions of people to rule over, there will be those things that are going to require the final say so or approval of Jesus Christ and his saints – especially those who will be at the very seat of Christ’s Government.

In God’s new civilization, there will be no politics; no Democratic or Republican Party; no political mudslinging; no voting or candidates on a debate stage. Such things as transgender and homosexual rights will not be allowed, and such things as transgender male bathing in the bathroom of little girls will not be tolerated. Oh yes, people are still going to want to do the wrong things even when Christ is ruling on earth – as human nature is not going to simply change overnight; Christ is not going to come and just snap his fingers and suddenly all is well; No, not at all, it is going take time to root out the human or carnal nature that is so in enmity against God (Romans 8: 7). But when people refuse to obey and continue to rebel – not willing to change – despite God’s warning, then notice what Christ is going to do: “… and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the false swearers … (Malachi 3:5). Christ is going to have a strong rule – having to rule over rebellious people with a rod of iron.

No flesh and blood human is going to hold any Government office when the kingdom of God is here; all mortals will be lovingly ruled over by the immortal saints of God; Flesh born human will not have any position of rulership in God’s Government because mortal man has muddled things up since Adam and Eve sinned against God; mankind has proven that man is incapable of governing himself without God, and so, no mortal will be assigned a position of authority in God’s Government.

All mortals living on the earth at this time are going to be reeducated by the saints of God on how to live; they are going to have to be taught about God and to have a true understanding of the things of God – as all the false practices and beliefs that Satan has injected into the human mind will have to be replaced by the knowledge of the true ways of God; millions upon millions will have to be reeducated worldwide and it is going to take time and effort -as people living in the country sides, in remote villages and rural areas around the world – will all have to be taught and trained to live God’s way. When these humans are taught the true way of living, they too will become converted and will ultimately be changed from flesh to Spirit – so they too can now go on to be teachers and teach other mortals so they too can learn and grow and become immortal and can join the expanding or growing family of God and become immortal too. Remember, Christ is building a new civilization and in a new and growing civilization there are going to be millions of jobs or positions of responsibilities that will need to be filled – so there is a lot of work ahead, and no doubt, God the Father and Jesus Christ – along with his saints, are going to be very busy with this great job of the reeducation of humanity and all that will be done to build this great and exciting new civilization. How truly wonderful is the mind of our God to reveal these things to us?

Whether a person wants to believe it or not, this new civilization is going to be here on this earth and perhaps you are reading this may yet live to see the second coming of Christ. It is true that no man knows the day nor the time when Christ will return; Jesus himself said so, but the events unfolding in the world -with war and the threats of war – with nations against other nations – along with our descent into immorality – especially as we see in a declining United States and Britain, is a sign that we are very close to the end of man’s misrule over the earth. As to how soon we are to this world - shaking event of Christ’s second coming, I would only say that since the bible reveals that immediately after the tribulation there will appear the supernatural sign in heaven – which will result in the sun being darkened and the moon not giving its light – leading to the appearance of the “sign of the Son of man in heaven” (Matt. 29, 30), that it is very possible that the Great Tribulation could come upon the world within the next 5 to 7 years - or even sooner – because things could suddenly snap together – catching the world off guard – plunging the world into the worse time of suffering ever experienced; this is going to happen when the ten prophesied nations of Europe come together to form the final Revival of the so called holy Roman Empire spoken of in Revelation 17: 12,13. This is why I would encourage people to watch the events unfolding in Europe and on the actions of Germany – as this country – along with the urging of the Catholic Church, is prophesied to play a great role in uniting or bringing together these union of nations; and when they come together, there is going to become more visible, a Hitlerian type leader – more cunning and deceitful than Hitler - supported and guided by the Vatican, and will cater to the beliefs of the papacy – which will institute and enforce rules and laws that will prohibit you from buying, selling – holding a job unless you bend to the dictates of this religious power; all of Western civilization will be impacted by this union of nations in Europe, and so will you and your family – if you are alive at this time. Just recently, the Italian Foreign Minister (Antonio Tajani) declared that the European Union should form its own combined army and that the EU should be run or governed by a single presidency rather than the current structure of a European Council president and a European Commission president. Well, isn’t that interesting? You can look at my previous pieces here on Article Biz and see that I been telling people about this federation of ten nations to come out of Europe.

The good news, is that Christ is coming to break the power of the rebellious nations – which include, China, Russia and set up the ruling Government of God on the earth – where He and his saints will begin a worldwide re-education of mankind from Satan’s ways to God’s way; it is then that Habakkuk 2:14 will be fulfilled: “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” We are truly living in frightening but exciting times – because the redemption of the righteous draws near (Luke 21:28). I tell you it could be sooner than most people think or realize.
