The good, the bad and the ugly about soy

The good, bad, and ugly truth about SOY!

You'll get different answers to the question of whether soy is good for you, depending on whom you ask.

Some people think it's a healthy food, while others think that consuming soy will cause breast cancer. So what's the truth?

Let's start with some basic facts…

Continued below. . .

This American doctor said. . .
"In 21 days you can just about get rid of any cancer"

. . .and she proved it again and again!
Can you believe an American doctor actually said, "In 21 days you can just about get rid of any cancer" — and then proved it?

Well she did. My Cancer Defeated colleague Andrew Scholberg interviewed her. What's more, he talked to some of the patients whose lives she saved during the last 20 years.

I was so excited by Andy's findings I went to her clinic myself to take a look. We investigated her whole approach, and let me tell you. . .

There's absolutely no doubt her cancer breakthrough has helped one "terminal" patient after another get rid of cancer.

What's more, she did it with natural methods only — NO disfiguring surgery, NO burning radiation, and NO poisonous chemo. And here's what's really scandalous. . .

Mixed study results keep folks guessing...
Soybeans pack a lot of healthy nutrients into one small package. They contain all the essential amino acids humans need. But they also have compounds called isoflavones that act like a weak form of estrogen in your body.

The soy isoflavones genistein and daidzen act as powerful antioxidants that can help protect your cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.

But too much estrogen in your body can fuel tumor growth in hormonally sensitive tissues, such as the breasts and endometrium (lining of the uterus).

These cells contain receptors that bind with estrogen and send out signals that can stimulate abnormal cell growth.

Much of the controversy surrounding soy can be traced to animal laboratory studies. Rats injected with estrogen receptive (ER) positive tumor cells were given different doses of genistein or daidzen.

Scientists noticed that the animals with the greatest tumor growth were those who received more of the isoflavones. But these harmful effects were demonstrated in some, but not all animal studies.

For that matter, study results in humans produced different results from those conducted on lab animals. In studies of Asian women, who tend to eat more soy foods, researchers found a lower risk of breast cancer.

But even this is controversial. Opponents of soy say that Asians consume far less soy than American health food advocates claim.

Nonetheless, U.S. studies have so far failed to produce any association between a woman's soy consumption and her risk of breast cancer.

If that finding is accurate, it could be because genistein and daidzen also have anti-estrogen properties, even though they're natural forms of estrogen!

As strange as it sounds—these isoflavones can also prevent other natural estrogens from binding to estrogen receptors.

What's more, the soy isoflavones encourage production of a protein that binds estrogen in the blood. This makes it less able to link to the cell receptor where it can send signals leading to tumor growth.

But aside from the role of soy isoflavones in increasing or decreasing initial cancer risk, you might be wondering ...

Consider This Valuable Cancer Conference
Every year the folks at The Annie Appleseed Project put on a remarkable meeting called the Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Cancer Therapies Conference. Considering what you can learn and the people you can meet, it’s an incredible bargain. This year’s conference takes place from Thursday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 2, 2013 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The conference is of value to both patients and alternative care practitioners.

Among this year’s speakers is one of our own authors, Bill Henderson, author ofCancer-Free and How to Cure Almost Any Cancer at Home for $5.15 a Day. You’ll also meet Dr. Alexander Herzog, one of the doctors we recommend in our Special Report German Cancer Breakthrough, Mark J. Kaylor speaking on ancient medicine, and Bharat B. Aggarwal, a professor at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. There are many, many other speakers, and I urge you to click onhttp://xrl.us/bndro2 to get more information — and register!!

Should breast cancer survivors
steer clear of soy products?
Some women might refrain from using soy products, fearful of the possibility that they may cause a recurrence of tumor growth. But from what Cancer Defeated has been able to learn, there are no studies to confirm this.

Three recent studies of eating habits and other lifestyle factors of breast cancer survivors focused on soy consumption of more than 9,000 women.

Investigators found that women in two U.S. studies and one Chinese study who consumed 10 mg or more of soy each day actually had a 25% lower risk of breast cancer recurrence!

The 2012 American Cancer Society Guidelines on Nutrition and Physical Activity for Cancer Survivors determined that current research simply does not suggest that there are harmful effects to breast cancer survivors from eating soy. I'm no fan of the ACS, but we can't lightly throw out peer-reviewed studies without knowing more.

The ACS's guidelines recommend against taking soy supplements because they contain higher isoflavone concentrations than you would ingest from soy foods. In other words, the natural food is better for you than the supplement. No surprise there.

By now you may be thoroughly confused. Here's my take: We don't know enough. Soy is still too controversial. I'm wary of the risk of eating large amounts of a food that mimics the activity of estrogen in the human body.

This is a disagreement I have with my own doctor, a very knowledgeable guy who encourages me to eat more soy. I tell him what I just told you: I don't want to eat a form of estrogen.

By the way, these comments don't apply to fermented soy, like that found in soy sauce and miso soup. Fermented soy is a VERY healthy food. Check out our Issue #88 for more about this.
Soy used to be cattle feed
Whether Asians really eat much soy is a controversial matter, as I said earlier. But in the U.S. we know that up till the 1980's soy products were used primarily to feed livestock.

Then nutritionists decided that maybe bulls and cows weren't the only ones who could benefit from soy-based foods.

Soy products are often a popular choice to meet the protein needs of people following a vegetarian diet. And these foods are not hard to find, considering you'll find soy in all these grocery store and restaurant items:
  • Edamame (green soy beans)
  • Meatless foods (e.g. burger crumbles, bacon-like strips)
  • Miso paste and soup (fermented soy, not the same as tofu)
  • Soy milk
  • Soy sauce (fermented)
  • Tofu
Studies show soy helps lower cholesterol... control blood pressure... and may help moderate symptoms of menopause and osteoporosis. For what it's worth, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) even slapped its seal of approval on 25 grams of daily soy protein.

Animal tests conducted by researchers at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles seem to show that a soy compound called genistein can stop your cells from making the stress proteins that cancer cells produce.

These proteins protect cancer cells from being destroyed by your immune system and anti-cancer therapies. When their protective shield is stripped away—your body can identify and destroy them far more easily.

Genistein is widely regarded as a good cancer remedy, but it's still nagged by the same doubts about the overall safety of soy.

Hopefully all the issues will get sorted out and we'll finally know the truth about soy. Till then, be cautious. There are plenty of good cancer remedies that aren't plagued by doubts.

We wrote about one of these exciting remedies in our last issue. If you missed the article, just scroll down and read it below.

BOWIE STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL READY FOR SATURDAY'S SEASON OPENER AT SHEPHERD

BOWIE STATE READY FOR SATURDAY’S SEASON OPENER AT SHEPHERD

Watch Bowie State Basketball All Season Long On US Sports Network

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State University men’s basketball team makes its season debut on Saturday, Nov. 10, on the road at Shepherd University in the nightcap of the Clarion Hotel Classic. Tip time for the Bulldogs and Rams is set for 7 pm in Shepherd’s Butcher Athletic Center.

The Bulldogs return eight players from last season’s squad which finished 22-6 overall and reached the CIAA Tournament semifinals. Bowie State returns only one starter and welcomes four newcomers to the program.

Last season, the Bulldogs ranked 8th nationally in Division II in blocks (5.3 per game), 9th in rebound margin (7.3) and 33rd in scoring (78.3). Pressure defense, uptempo offense and the teams’ ability to rebound have been trademarks of the Bulldogs under head coach Darrell Brooks, who is in his fourth season.

“We’re excited and ready to get started on Saturday,” Brooks said. “Even though we’ve only played Shepherd twice since I arrived at BSU (both times on their floor), it has been a dog fight and that’s what we’re expecting tomorrow night”. As for the Alderson-Broaddus game on Sunday (4 pm), Brooks said “This will be first time playing them … They are so well coached and we’ll just have to be prepared for them and everything they bring”.

The Bulldogs are embarking on a new era of sorts as a number of key starters finished their collegiate eligibility in 2012. Center Travis Hyman, who led the CIAA in blocks for two seasons and was the 2012 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year departed along with All-CIAA First Team selection and guard Darren Clark, who was the team’s leading scorer. Also departed from the program is former starting guard Jay Gavin, who was the team’s third-leading scorer.

On a positive note, the Bulldogs return eight players from last season including All-CIAA First Team selection and senior forward Byron Westmorland, who averaged 14.6 points and 4.7 rebounds. Senior Bryan Wilson, who made six starts last season, will become a full-time starter after averaging 6.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Also returning for the Bulldogs will be senior forwards Dameatric Scott (6-7, 215) and Najee White (6-8, 238). Westmorland and Scott were voted to the 2012-2013 All-CIAA preseason team.

Bowie State holds a 5-1 series advantage over the Shepherd Rams which includes a thrilling 78-75 victory last season in the final game of the Clarion Hotel Classic.

The Rams return four starters from last year’s squad including preseason All-American player Chad Moore, who scored 20 points and added 11 rebounds against the Bulldogs last season. Other top players for the Rams include Brantley Osborne and Sidney McCray. Shepherd finished the 2011-2012 season with an overall record of 14-14.

The Bulldogs are picked to finish first in the CIAA Northern Division while the Rams are projected to finish sixth in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

VIRGINIA STATE ROLLS TO 3-0 SWEEP OF BOWIE STATE IN DIVISION VOLLEYBALL MATCH

VIRGINIA STATE ROLLS TO 3-0 SWEEP OF BOWIE STATE IN DIVISION VOLLEYBALL MATCH

PETERSBURG, Va. – Virginia State University had no trouble with the visiting Lady Bulldogs, rolling to a three-set sweep of Bowie State University, winning by scores of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-9. The Bowie State loss dips the Lady Bulldogs record to 6-22, 1-14 CIAA and 0-9 in the North.

Bowie State struggled all evening and ended the event with an attack percentage of -.031. On the flip side, Virginia State wrapped up the match with a positive attack percentage of .173.

Jasmine Davis and Aubree Parker led the Virginia State charge with eight kills each and Cherish Richardson added a half dozen kills of her own in the victory. Jasmine Henderson setup her teammates 24 times, tied for match-high service ace honors with two and contributed 12 digs. Jenessa Shinauld recorded a team-high 21 digs for the Lady Trojans and was responsible for Virginia State’s other two service aces.

The Bowie State combo of junior Briana Flowers and freshman Yaje Ngundam paced the Lady Bulldogs with seven kills apiece. Sophomore Paige McIntosh chipped in three kills and three other BSU players added a pair of kills each. Lady Bulldogs redshirt freshman Marissa Martinez and Ngundam led the team in defense with 21 and 19 digs respectively.

Virginia State closes out the regular season with an overall record of 14-10, 13-3 CIAA and 8-2 in the North and will be one of the four teams representing the Northern Division in next week’s CIAA Volleyball Championships. Bowie State will round out their 2012 season this Saturday (November 10th) at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania.

Shocking news: some antioxidants damage cells

Shocking News! Some Antioxidants
Cause Cell Damage --But Don't Worry,
in This Case It's a Good Thing!

An herb that has centuries of use in Chinese medicine has finally caught the eye of modern Western medical practitioners.

Now, even American scientists believe that plant pigments known as flavonoids—including one called baicalein found in the Chinese herb— may play an important role in delivering a death blow to cancer cells.

But the way baicalein fights cancer is a shocking surprise: Even though it's an antioxidant, it damages DNA. Keep reading and I'll fill you in. . .

REVEALED: New food-lover's cure for diabetes,
pre-diabetes, and belly fat
If you suffer from DIABETES or PRE-DIABETES or STUBBORN BELLY FAT--and you don't enjoy DIETING--prepare to banish all three quicker than you can say "gastric bypass."

With the NEW diabetes breakthrough that leaves everything you've tried in the dust. The most permissive diabetes cure EVER! Including a new trick that's so easy, it almost seems unfair.

It's outrageously fast, absurdly easy, and shockingly--FUN!

In fact, you must start by forgetting the very idea of DIETING. And trash any preconceptions of what it takes to beat diabetes. Because this secret demolishes old-fashioned low-fat, low-calorie, and even low-carb dieting...gone!

It's all thanks to the genius of famed "M.D. to the stars" and brilliant discoverer of the NEXT GENERATION CURE for Type II diabetes, pre-diabetes, and belly fat--Fred Pescatore, M.D.

Please take a moment to watch this special video presentation now, while it's still available--and find out how you can get in on the same new DECADENT DIABETES BREAKTHROUGH that so many stars, high-society icons, and even royalty have paid handsomely for, and as a FREE GIFT to you. And once you try it, you'll agree it's very much for-real, practical, doable and WOW what results!

Chinese culture has a long history with the plant known as Chinese skullcap (Sculletaria baicalensis), including its use for:
  • Killing bacterial infections…
  • Reducing inflammation…
  • Serving as a diuretic…
  • Shrinking tumors…
  • Treating hepatitis…
  • And much more!
Now recent clinical studies indicate this herb from the mint family may deserve top honors as a cancer killer. But it kills cancer cells in a way scientists didn’t expect.

According to findings published March 19, 2012 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, National Institutes of Health (NIH) researchers were surprised to find that some plant antioxidants actually damage cell DNA rather than protect it.

One of the antioxidants that has this weird and surprising effect is baicalein from Chinese skullcap. Resveratrol, the "red wine antioxidant," was another.

Damaging DNA is the opposite of how scientists think antioxidants generally work. It's a shocker — but don't toss your antioxidants yet.

It is this ability that may make baicalein a natural treatment for cancer. Meanwhile, another research group already has the jump on the NIH when it comes to proving baicalein is a cancer killer.

In 2011, a group of researchers at the City of Hope cancer research center in California stumbled on baicalein as a possible cancer killer. Here's what happened…
A happy accident!
A City of Hope research team was screening several natural extracts in search of those that might work well with the protein called interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF-1).

This protein is known to play a role in boosting your immune response… regulating cell apoptosis (natural cell death)… and suppressing tumor growth. The scientists wanted to enhance IRF-1's natural ability to treat cancer cells and possibly even prevent the disease altogether.

According to findings published August 4 online in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutic, the researchers found that of all the natural compounds they tested— baicalein came out head and shoulders above the other extracts when it came to boosting IRF-1 activity.

They used the plant extract to perform lab tests on stomach cancer and breast cancer cells and found that baicalein stopped cancer cell growth dead in its tracks! They also found that it suppressed breast tumors in mice, with no toxic side effects.

According to a City of Hope statement, many other researchers have reported baicalein's positive effects on pancreatic, colon and lung cancer cells. And that's just in the past year!

With that background, let's take a closer look at the NIH study that showed baicalein wrecks DNA!
Hold on… I thought antioxidants were harmless!
Don't swear off your fruits and vegetables just yet! Antioxidants ARE good for you. As their name suggests, these nutrients can prevent or slow the rate of oxidative damage to your body.

When your cells use oxygen, one byproduct they generate is free radicals. These unstable oxygen molecules scavenge the body and steal parts from other cells to become more stable.

Cells with stolen parts become unstable free radicals that set off a chain reaction.

Free radical cell damage is believed to be a main cause of many common illnesses associated with aging, including diabetes… heart disease…. arthritis. . .and cancer…

But antioxidants like vitamins C and E, selenium, and CoQ10 help fight free radicals—and slow down cell destruction—by donating oxygen to stabilize free radicals.

They may also boost your immune system and lower your risk of experiencing infections and abnormal cell growth.

So the finding that baicalein and other antioxidants cause DNA cell damage may seem contradictory at first glance. But not when you probe further…
Mixed study results may be a boon for
natural cancer treatment!
Kyungjae Myung, Ph.D., a senior investigator in the Genetics and Molecular Biology Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), was a lead study author for this investigation. Myung's lab studies how enzymes repair cell DNA.

Scientists know that when DNA repair systems malfunction, various diseases result, including cancer. Dr. Myung's research team had two principal goals for this study, namely:
  1. To identify chemicals that damage DNA, and
  2. To use the chemicals to study cell repair mechanisms.
The NHGRI team used lab cells grown from human kidneys to develop a test to demonstrate when a chemical causes DNA damage. The test would show fairly quickly which chemicals damage cell DNA.

To determine which chemicals to study, a multi-agency initiative called Tox21 amassed a collection of about 2,000 compounds to test.

The researchers were surprised to find that 22 antioxidants caused DNA damage!

What's more, three of the antioxidants they identified—baicalein, genistein and reseveratrol—are in use right now or are being studied for their anti-aging and disease fighting attributes!

But the researchers were more encouraged by the fact that these compounds did not cause gene mutations—unlike standard chemotherapy drugs.

In a statement from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Dr. Myung explained that "standard chemotherapy mutates the tumor's DNA… sometimes allowing it to escape the toxic treatment intended to kill it. This leads to multidrug resistance in some cancer patients' disease."

Because the antioxidants don't cause these gene mutations, doctors think they may be useful in treating such multi-drug resistant cancers.

The investigators are cautious about the study results. They emphasized that the findings occurred only in lab-grown cells and they don't yet know the impact on humans.

But the study from City of Hope cancer center suggests there IS strong evidence that baicalein/Chinese skullcap may be ready for primetime.

Baicalein shows much promise as part of Mother Nature's 'chemotherapy.' But it isn't theonly plant compound that's emerging as a kick-butt cancer killer. We'll talk about some others in the next issue!

Is this the ultimate anti-cancer fruit?

Cancer Defeated Publications

This Could Be the Ultimate Anti-Cancer Fruit

Pomegranate juice has been one of the hit new products of the last few years, and not just because people like sweet drinks. It's also thanks to the juice's cytotoxicity (meaning it's toxic to cancer cells), as demonstrated in lab tests on several different cell lines. Pre-clinical lab studies show when an animal is fed pomegranate extract, the growth of lung, skin, colon, and prostate tumors slows down.

Because of these promising results, 10 new clinical trials were recently registered with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), all with an aim to study pomegranate extract as a cancer treatment. Nine of those studies focus on prostate cancer and the last one will focus on follicular lymphoma.

That's just the beginning of the exciting news about this cancer killer. Keep reading. . .

The Hidden Ingredient that Packs on Belly Fat…
Which of the following foods triggers your body to store layers of fat most quickly:
  1. choking down an entire tablespoon of PURE table sugar,
  2. snacking on a cup of low-fat yogurt, or
  3. delighting in a cup of delicious ice cream?
Shockingly it's actually the cup of low-fat yogurt that's triggers your body to pack on the flab the fastest of these three... even more quickly than just plain old table sugar.

I know this seems hard to believe, but it's all because of this dangerous ingredient that's hidden in virtually ALL of the foods you eat.

But there are two particular types of foods that are by FAR the biggest offenders — foods that nearly ALL of eat EVERY day -- that are literally "infested" with this hidden ingredient and pack on flab the fastest:

==> Avoid These 2 Foods At All Costs (and Eat These 5 to Flip on Your Fat Burning Switch)...

The researchers have already seen success in a Phase II prostate cancer trial, where pomegranate extract seemed to prompt a longer PSA-doubling time. PSA, or prostate-specific antigen, is something doctors look at to see if prostate cancer is progressing.

The doubling time for a man's PSA number is an indicator of how fast a prostate cancer tumor may be growing. If it takes six months for your PSA to double, you're better off than if it takes two months.

One study showed men who drank eight ounces of pomegranate juice every day for two years significantly increased their PSA-doubling time.

If you're a regular reader of this newsletter, you know that while ONE isolated PSA test is not very significant, the trend in your PSA number over a series of tests IS significant.

So if pomegranates still sound like an exotic fruit to you, it's time you made their acquaintance. Pomegranates come from a small tree native to Asia. But you see them cultivated all over the world these days, mainly because the sweet juice from the arils (the bright ruby pulpy part around the seeds) is in high demand.

But now we know good taste may be the least of their benefits. Pomegranates are rich in antioxidant and anti-artherosclerotic properties. (Don't be fazed by the big word. It means this fruit helps prevent plaque in your arteries.) Those properties are the main source of the anti-cancer benefits seen in this fruit.

My personal doctor, an integrative M.D. who was on the faculty of a major medical school, recommends pomegranate juice for enlarged prostate.

And he also alerted me that there are very good pomegranate supplements for people who don't want to drink the juice every day. That would include me — I find the juice much too sweet.
Pomegranates wipe out breast cancer
There's also a new study on the ability of pomegranate to inhibit breast cancer metastasis (i.e. the spread of the cancer from the original site to other sites in the body). Researchers involved in this study were so taken by the results, they said pomegranate juice may even be effective as a general cancer treatment.

Some research also suggests that pomegranate juice may slow the growth of breast cancer. Researchers at the University of California, Riverside, applied different concentrations of pomegranate juice to two separate breast cancer cell lines. They found that a one percent juice concentration completely stopped cancer cell growth in both cancer cell lines. A five percent juice concentration not only stopped growth, it also killed large portions of the cancer cells.

Both concentrations also seemed to suppress the metastatic process of cancer. Part of this was observed after cancer cell adhesion ramped up (meaning the cancer cells stayed clumped and didn't spread to other tissues). Researchers also noticed the usual chemical attraction of cancer cells toward bones seemed to decrease.

But impressively, similar tests with different concentrations of pomegranate juice on normalbreast cells didn't have any of these results. Only the cancer cells are harmed.

Another promising study showed the combination of pomegranate juice and genistein staved off growth of MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Genistein can be found in soy, as well as in supplement form.

And yet another positive result of applying pomegranate juice to cancer cell lines appears to be the suppression of pro-inflammatory signaling molecules. Meaning, pomegranate juice helps suppress the inflammation process. This is important, because scientists now understand inflammation can speed the spread of cancer within the body.
The FDA lost its war on pomegranates —
and a good thing, too!
The last time this newsletter talked about pomegranates there was an uproar going on at the FDA. They were hot around the collar with POM Wonderful, the largest U.S. maker of pomegranate juice. The FDA had issued a warning letter to the company, accusing them of promoting their juice as a healing drug.

Yet all the company had done was add links to its website. Those links led consumers to peer-reviewed scientific studies that highlighted ways pomegranates may protect against health problems.

Yes, you heard right. According to the FDA, if you tell customers about an article on the health benefits of a food you're selling, then you're claiming your food is a drug!

POM got the last word there. In a 335-page ruling that came out in May, the FTC upheld POM Wonderful's right to share links with customers about the scientifically-validated healing properties of pomegranates. Yay!

Since that ruckus, the new research I reviewed above provides even more proof for the health benefits of pomegranates. And some of the research is so promising, pomegranates may someday play a role as a standard cancer treatment.
A pomegranate a day keeps the doctor away
Some doctors will tell you all these promising results are preliminary and to wait for clinical trials. I say it's a juice, go ahead and drink it. Or take the supplements.

It's tough to replicate even the one percent concentration mentioned in the study above, since that means downing over three cups a day. But even if you go with at least one cup a day, you're bound to get some protection against prostate and breast cancer.

Mention it to your doctor, though. Pomegranate juice is pretty safe, but it may affect the efficacy of a few prescription meds like warfarin (blood thinner) or high cholesterol drugs. Between you and me, I'd keep the pomegranate juice and dump the drugs. There are plenty of good, natural ways to thin the blood or promote heart health. But that's another article for another day.

In our last issue we covered an exciting drug-free therapy that's completely safe and gets incredible results — not just for cancer but for a wide range of medical problems. If you missed this important news, scroll down and read it now.

The Healing Power of Light
Known for 84 Years,
Ignored by Mainstream Medicine

By Andrew Scholberg and Lee Euler
This is the second of two reports about the Doctors' Symposium of the Cancer Control Society, September 4, 2012, Sheraton Universal Hotel, Universal City, California
Imagine an inexpensive therapy that would do these things for a cancer patient:
  • Supercharge the immune system
  • Oxygenate tissues
  • Kill viruses and bacteria in the blood
  • Improve circulation and microcirculation
  • Reduce pain
  • Increase the metabolism of cholesterol
If you think that's too good to be true, think again, and imagine no more. This inexpensive therapy is called ultraviolet blood irradiation (UBI). It was the subject of a remarkable speech by Tom Lowe at the 2012 Doctors' Symposium of the Cancer Control Society. Keep reading to learn more about this safe and extremely effective remedy. . .

Mr. Lowe has become one of the nation's leading experts on UBI. The Cancer Control Society's president Frank Cousineau introduced him as the father of 11 children who has been married for over 40 years. He's a businessman who supplies UBI devices to medical professionals throughout the country.
Alternative doctors swear by this therapy
Mr. Lowe explained that just five or six years ago, he was a real skeptic about UBI. But the evidence that it works is overwhelming, and he continues to get amazing reports from physicians about the effectiveness of UBI.

In fact, Tom Lowe invented a new, more powerful UBI device and co-founded a clinic that administers the therapy. While he's not involved in the clinic anymore, he personally saw hundreds of patients go through UBI with incredible results. He describes himself as being "shocked" at how successful the therapy was.
Safe, simple and totally harmless
You're probably wondering how UBI works. The physician withdraws a small quantity of your blood (from 40 to 60 cc). This tiny blood sample is passed through ultraviolet light and put back into your body. It's that simple. Your blood is optically dense, and the UBI light affects only three percent of it. But that's enough to do the job.

Ultraviolet light, of course, kills germs. But UBI doesn't achieve such dramatic results by directly killing microbes, since only a small amount of blood is exposed. Instead, it seems to stimulate the whole immune system and provokes a vaccine-like effect against almost any disease you happen to have.

The treatment is absolutely, completely safe and has NO side effects. It can't possibly harm you, and all the evidence suggests it does many patients a huge amount of good.

The technology was actually invented 84 years ago by a man named Emmitt K. Knott, who used it to cure a woman who was dying of a septic infection. Further development continued through the 1930s involving a number of researchers at various hospitals and universities, and by 1949 an article in Time magazine was calling ultraviolet blood radiation the wave of the future.

It was not to be. In the 1950s the medical profession decided that the new antibiotics and vaccines were the wave of the future. Interest in UBI died out almost completely. Tom Lowe says he once met an older doctor who remembered hearing about it in medical school. Then it disappeared.
"UBI can kick shingles in two days!"
UBI is effective against some 60 diseases, including hepatitis C, Epstein Barr virus, multiple sclerosis and HIV. In his talk, Mr. Lowe quoted a case in which a man with early-stage MS was cured in just a couple of sessions.

If you're worried about ever getting shingles, here's something you'll find useful. Mr. Lowe declared, "UBI can kick shingles in two days." I've never had shingles, but I've heard it's incredibly painful. If I ever do get shingles, I won't hesitate to use the UBI cure!

But please know that when it comes to cancer, UBI isn't a "silver bullet." Mr. Lowe says UBI should be viewed as an adjunct, not a mainstay, cancer therapy. It should be used along with other effective treatments. UBI helps battle cancer by creating more oxygen, reducing pain and inflammation, and killing infections that are often found in conjunction with cancer.

When someone has cancer, you can be sure the immune system is weak. Boosting the immune system through UBI and other therapies enables the immune system to return to duty and kill cancer cells right and left.

Because UBI improves circulation and micro-circulation, Mr. Lowe said it also helps with Reynaud's Syndrome, a circulatory disorder of the extremities. He added that the physicians who use UBI report excellent results with auto-immune diseases.

Mr. Lowe said that four treatments are usually the minimum. He has a network of physicians around the country who offer UBI therapy. Many doctors who offer UBI also offer ozone treatment and view the two as sister therapies. See Issue 226 for more information about ozone.

To see medical studies that back up the effectiveness of UBI or to find a practitioner near you, check out www.DrsUBI.com. You may contact Mr. Lowe at info@DrsUBI.com.
Even Quackwatch doesn't criticize it
Tom Lowe said that — unlike most alternative therapies — you can search high and low without finding a single negative comment about ultraviolet blood irradiation. Even Quackwatch doesn't say anything negative.

The reason is simple. The treatment is FDA-approved for treating at least one cancer, T-cell lymphoma. Even the American Cancer Society says UBI "is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating T-cell lymphoma involving the skin. Clinical trials look promising for the treatment of immune system diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, rejection of transplanted organs and graft versus host disease."

This mainstream version of UBI, first developed at Yale, is now owned by Johnson and Johnson and available at roughly 200 centers around the world. It costs $2,500 to $4,000 per session with a minimum of ten sessions.

You don't have to spend anything like that amount of money. The versions of UBI offered by alternative doctors cost a couple of hundred dollars per session, at most.

Now here's another exciting development we learned at the Cancer Control Society's annual meeting. . .
A new state-of-the-art cancer test
When someone undergoes cancer treatment, it's essential to know whether or how well the treatment is working. One way to find out is through Dr. Efren Navarro's HCG Urine Test, which I describe in the Special Report I wrote with Bill Henderson: How to Cure Almost Any Cancer at Home for $5.15 a Day. (Click here if you'd like to learn more.) One advantage of the Navarro test is that it's so inexpensive.

A new test that's even more accurate is now available, thanks to the brilliant research of Dr. Emil Schandl, Ph.D. Dr. Schandl spoke about his breakthrough Longevity Profile Test, which includes his new Cancer Test (called "The CA Profile"). You'd never guess from Dr. Schandl's humble and mild manner that he has such a fascinating story.

Growing up under Communism in Hungary, Dr. Schandl experienced a life-changing event at the age of 13: a priest gave him some practical advice to do a few push-ups every day. He actually followed the priest's advice and became strong. He added other exercises and became stronger. The Communists eventually noticed his athletic potential and started grooming him to represent Hungary as a wrestler in the Olympic Games.

But Emil got into trouble with the government for participating in the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. When the uprising failed, he fled Hungary across the Austrian Alps and eventually made his way to America.

As an American, Dr. Schandl has become a distinguished scientist. He's still in top physical condition and has earned a 4th degree Black Belt in karate as well as a spot as a swimmer at the Senior Olympic Games. To keep himself in peak health, he regularly takes his own Longevity Profile Test. This test, which includes Dr. Schandl's new Cancer Test, gives him a snapshot of his current state of health. Although he has never had cancer, he takes the Cancer Test because it can detect cancer at the earliest stage.
Cancer patients should repeat the Cancer Test
He recommends that cancer patients repeat the Cancer Test from time to time during their treatment to find out whether or not the treatment is working. If the test shows that a course of treatment isn't working, the patient can switch to a different course of treatment. Every cancer patient needs to know whether or not the treatment plan is working in order to make any mid-course adjustments that may be necessary.

According to Dr. Schandl, his cancer test is more comprehensive and accurate than the Navarro HCG urine test. The Schandl cancer test may be ordered separately or as part of his comprehensive Longevity Profile Test, which he says everyone should get once a year.

The Longevity Profile Test also checks hormone levels, osteoporosis, coronary health, homocysteine, cholesterol, and so on. Whether you have cancer or not, this test is helpful. And it also alerts you VERY early if any cancer is present.

If you want to order one of Dr. Schandl's tests, instructions are available at his website,www.AmericanMetabolicLaboratories.net.
