SANTA
ANA — The argument that Mater Dei’s top-ranked football team is more
focused this season gained traction against Villa Park on Saturday.
The Monarchs stayed composed for a few minutes waiting for the
No. 7 Spartans to take the field at Santa Ana Stadium and then scored
seven first-half touchdowns en route to a 63-7 victory in the
rescheduled game on a holiday weekend.
“We’re dialed in. We’re locked in,” said Mater Dei quarterback
Bryce Young, who passed for four touchdowns and ran for another. “This
was a good win. We’re going to enjoy it, but we have a tough one in
Arizona next week (against Centennial of Peoria).”
Saturday’s game was moved back two days because Villa Park’s activity
was suspended six days by the CIF-SS because it violated a rule by
holding off-site practices in Big Bear.
“I wanted (this) game on Thursday to be honest with you but it
didn’t work out,” said Mater Dei coach Bruce Rollinson, whose team
departs Sept. 5 for Arizona. “I don’t think I’m going to have problems
with (their) focus for the rest of the year.”
Young and wide receiver Josiah Zamora sparked the two-time
defending national champion Monarchs (2-0) in the first half against
Villa Park (0-1).
After the Spartans forced a fumble on the opening possession,
Mater Dei scored on five consecutive drives and led 49-0 lead at
halftime.
The USC-committed Young completed 16 of 21 passes for 301 yards
and four touchdowns in the first half. The senior didn’t throw a pass in
the second half before the Monarchs went to their bench.
Young threw two touchdowns to Kody Epps and two to Zamora. Mater Dei also received rushing touchdowns from running backs Quincy Craig and Marceese Yetts. Saturday’s game was moved back two days because Villa Park’s activity

Whatever your fitness goal, you need a reason driving you to reach
it—and a guide to help you get there. Hannah Eden is back with FYR 2.0.
Give this 8-Week Muscle and Fat Loss plan a try ► Hannah Eden's FYR 2.0: https://bbcom.me/2MIooqK ► All Access 7-Day Free Trial: https://bbcom.me/2MG3Wqv ► Subscribe: http://bit.ly/2DK5lGD Fitness is not a one-time event, and given how many users told us they
did the original FYR multiple times, you get that! FYR 2.0 is your
chance to "Find Your Reason" all over again. Everything you told us you
loved is back in FYR 2.0—and then some. This eight-week program is
longer, tougher, and even more transformative than its predecessor. If you've already tried FYR, you've already experienced the
transformative power of working out with Hannah and her team. If you're
new to this kind of program and to Hannah's style, you can definitely
start here, without having experienced the original FYR. As long as
you're ready to sweat five times a week and test your physical and
mental strength just as often, then you've come to the right place. All you need is 30-40 minutes, five times a week, and a few select
pieces of equipment. Here are all the details!
| Find Your Level |
There are three training levels in FYR 2.0, and a specific coach to show
you the movement modifications for each. First-timers or anyone who
feels over their head should follow Tanner. To level up and move with
slightly more intensity or heavier weights, follow Paolo. And if you're
ready for the fight of your life, try to keep up with Hannah. Sometimes, the difference is just intensity or pace. Other times, it's a
whole new movement. This allows you to follow along at the level that
suits you best in each workout and each phase of fitness. It also means
you can come back to this program at any point to get a completely
different experience. No matter where you are in your fitness journey,
FYR 2.0 has something to offer. Many of the exercises in FYR 2.0 are bodyweight movements, but you will
need a few things to help you get the most out of each workout. Here's a
list of equipment to have on hand: • A pair of matching dumbbells (ideally, two pairs: one light, one
heavier) • A pair of matching kettlebells (ideally, one light-to-medium pair, and
one heavy single) • A jump rope • 1 miniband (ideally 2-3, to give you options) • A mat • A medicine ball More important than any weight or accessory is your attitude. Hannah
expects you to bring the heat for every single workout. She's already
programmed different levels and modifications into this program, and now
it's up to you to take control. This is your workout, and what you put
into it determines what you get out of it. Show up ready to work, give
it your all every single time, and you will see a change. | Why FYR 2.0 Works | FYR 2.0 definitely isn't just a rehash of the original. It has new
movements, new protocols, and more of a focus on control, pacing, and
pauses. FYR was explosive and fun, and FYR 2.0 is as well, but there's a
bit more tension and focus on the mind-muscle connection. In terms of
results, this may mean that you build slightly more muscle in FYR
2.0—hence the name Hannah Eden's 8-Week Muscle-Building Fat-Loss Plan. More often than not, people get bored with their training programs. This
program will offer you anything and everything. It is a hybrid training
style, mixing protocols and styles to create a unique experience with
each new workout. In this program you'll explore animal flow, functional
movement, conditioning drills, Tabata intervals, EMOM, bodybuilding,
AMRAP, gymnastics—you name it, Hannah has tried it, and she can bring it
down to your level and make you love it. Hannah helps you step outside of the box gym and try different
modalities to bring every corner of the fitness world together. No
matter where your fitness game is, you will be challenged, you will
learn, and you will love doing it.
There's no doubt that diet plays a major role in our overall health.
Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy discusses this, but she also says something else
is just as important! Find out what that is and why she says it's so
important to our overall health!
Is Sugar Toxic?
By: Michael Rothman
If you are what you eat, then what
does it say that the average American consumes 130 pounds of sugar a
year? In an April, 2012 report on CBS’s "60 Minutes," Dr. Sanjay Gupta
explored new research showing that beyond weight gain, sugar can take a
serious toll on your health, worsening conditions ranging from heart
disease to cancer. Some physicians go so far as to call sugar a toxin.
So, what’s the truth? Is sugar toxic? What are the effects of sugar on
your health? Sugar and your health While much of the "60
Minutes" sugar report contained many truths about the negative effects
of sugar on health, some holistic medical doctors, like Dr. Michael E.
Rothman of MD Wellness in New Jersey, are quick to point out one big
problem the report neglected to discuss - "The Big Fat Lie" – the fact
that saturated fat provides essential health-giving properties. Here,
from a holistic nutrition standpoint, we take a look at the points of
agreement and disagreement on CBS’s segment on the effects of sugar on
health. Sugar causes health problems Sugar is amongst the most
health-sapping substances consumed by the majority of people on a daily
basis. Sugar is extremely addictive Numerous studies have shown sugar to be MORE addictive than cocaine or heroin. Sugar
causes metabolic syndrome Especially in the form of high fructose corn
syrup, sugar is one of the leading causes of metabolic syndrome - which
can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and heart disease. Cancer cells love sugar. Sugar will contribute to the initiation and growth of cancer. "Sugar
is all the same – bad." While this statement by Dr. Lustwig in the
report was true, what he failed to mention is that fructose is the worst
sugar for causing metabolic syndrome. Regular table sugar is sucrose,
which is 50 percent glucose and 50 percent fructose, whereas
fruit-derived sugar is 100 percent fructose, and high fructose corn
syrup is concentrated fructose. Surely as an expert, Dr. Lustwig knows
this. Holistic doctors like Dr. Rothman are left to wonder if Dr.
Lustwig is simply concerned that by revealing the truth about fructose
and the fact that all fruit contains fructose, he’ll alienate those in
the beverage and fruit industry. Fat is bad. This is a fallacy.
The truth is that saturated fat is essential in a healthy diet. The
report suggested that because fat is tasty and satiating, reducing it in
your diet will require you to add something else (like sugar) to make
food more palatable. The sneaky message being sent to viewers was that
"fat is bad" and should be avoided but not replaced by sugar. This
fallacy has been proven over and over in many studies. Saturated fat
consumption increases HDL (the "good" cholesterol) and has many other
beneficial properties. A diet consisting of healthy, hormone-building,
tissue-enhancing, life-giving saturated fat is essential for proper
functioning, growth and repair of all the systems in your body. In fact,
numerous studies have shown that saturated fat should comprise fifty
percent of your caloric intake! Dr. Rothman has an extensive background in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Physiology and Physics. At, MD Wellness
as well being a board certified in both Internal Medicine and Emergency
Medicine and having over 10 years of experience as a holistic doctor
will find the cause of your symptoms via his Metabolically Directed
Functional Medicine approach.

On July 16, 2019, around 6:43
p.m., LAPD, uniformed patrol officers, assigned to Rampart Division
responded to a disturbance radio call of a "man with a knife" at a
residence located on the 300 block of north Commonwealth Avenue in Los
Angeles. When the officers arrived at the residence, they located the
suspect (who was later identified as 49-year old, Herbert Vasquez)
inside the rear bedroom of the apartment and refused to exit. As the
officers were in the process of trying to de-escalate the situation,
they opened the bedroom door at which time Vasquez armed with a machete
advanced towards the officers, resulting in an OIS. Simultaneously the
officers used a less lethal option. Vasquez then fled out the bedroom
window and ran westbound from Commonwealth Avenue and entered a 7-11
convenience store.
The officers surrounded Vasquez inside the store and again attempted to
verbalize with him but he refused to comply with the officers commands.
The officers used a second less lethal device which aided the officers
in taking Vasquez into custody without further incident. It was observed
that Vasquez had injuries to fingers on both hands but it was unknown
at the time if those injuries were the result of the OIS. The Los
Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and
transported Vasquez to a local hospital for medical treatment. A knife
was located at scene and booked as evidence. Fortunately, no officers or
innocent bystanders were injured during this incident. Donate to PoliceActivity: https://www.patreon.com/PoliceActivity
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10).
What goes on in our hearts
has a tremendous influence on what we think and believe, and ultimately
what we speak. Meditating on the Word until it takes root and grows in
our hearts keeps us safe from evil.
"Grace—God’s freely-given favour that we neither earned nor deserved—is
it too good to be true? There must be some hidden clause to it, right?
Press play and see how God’s grace is BOTH good AND true. It isn’t
dependent on our merits, nor on how well we “Christian”. And although it
came to us free, it cost God everything.
When we receive grace, it doesn’t cause us to live flippantly but like
what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:10
(TLB), “…whatever I am now it is all because God poured out such
kindness and grace upon me.” He adds that he’s worked harder than all
the other apostles, but it was really God working in him, to bless him.
"Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.
2 Peter 1:2"
If
you were to look up the Greek word that’s translated “knowledge” in
that scripture, you’d find out that it means more than just a mental
understanding of something, more than the kind of knowledge that can be
gained through your senses. It means exact knowledge. Knowledge that’s
been revealed directly to your heart by the Spirit of God. I call it revelation knowledge. The
lack of that kind of knowledge has caused more faith failures than
anything else I know. That’s because most Christians believe the Word
with their minds, but they haven’t meditated on it enough for it to
“light up” in their hearts. If they had, that Word would absolutely
revolutionize their lives. Nothing in heaven or earth would be able to
shake them loose from it. I know a widow who got hold of that kind
of revelation one afternoon. She’d been meditating in the scriptures
that say if you’re a widow, God Almighty has taken His place as your
provider and leader of your household. She’d been feeling a little
sorry for herself up until then. But when she received the revelation
that God was actually head of her household now, she started talking to
Him like she would a husband. “I’m telling You, Lord, the plumbing
in this house is pitiful. Will You please get it fixed?” she said. From
that moment on, she never had any more trouble with her plumbing. If
you need something from God, determine right now that you’re going to
do what that widow did. Determine that you’re going to meditate the Word
until you get a revelation like that. Keep that Word before you until
you receive a revelation of Jesus as your healer or your deliverer or
your financier—whatever you need Him to be. Don’t settle for a shallow
mental understanding of Him. Get a deep revelation and His grace will be multiplied to you!
