“The thief cometh not, but
for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might
have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
If we don’t know God’s true
nature, we can be quick to blame Him for bad things that happen. There’s
a devil loose in the world who wants to inflict pain and suffering, and
erode our quality of life; God, however, wants the best for us.
“Give, and it shall be given
unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running
over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye
mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38). As believers, we have inside
us the authority to determine what kind of life we have. The more we
give, the more blessings come back to us.

There are definite
differences between the old covenant of the law and the new covenant of
grace. Jesus has replaced the law with grace, but this does not mean we
do not have any laws at all to follow. Although we are no longer under
the Ten Commandments and all of its associated requirements, we are now
under a new commandment: to believe in Jesus Christ and to love one
another. Under the law, man had to perform to be blessed; now, all we
need to do is to have faith in what Jesus has already done. We do not
have to be aware of sin, because we are now free to be mindful of what
Jesus’ finished works made available to us. God has said we are
righteous, redeemed, delivered, and healed. To receive these gifts, all
we need to do is to believe this.
Unlike the old covenant, we do not have to work to be blessed. We are already blessed.
One of the major differences between the old and
new covenants is the finished works of Jesus Christ, and how they
impact us as Christians. We do not have to perform to achieve what He
has already achieved.
Jesus has already redeemed, delivered, and healed us, and given us wisdom.
By faith, we can activate the authority we have been given through His grace.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverbs 18:21).
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto
this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and
shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which
he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith (Mark
11:23).
Performance-based religion is sin, because the only true
righteousness is Christ’s righteousness. The only way to get this is to
receive it, and surrender all our self-effort. We must believe.
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness (Galatians 3:6).
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who
through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge
your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14).
Under the law, we became conscious of sin; this is the
purpose of the law. Sin-consciousness always tells us what we must do.
In an attempt to keep the law, we do “dead works.”
Dead works are our efforts to perform to deserve God’s favor. However, grace is a gift from Him.
Under grace, we are not enslaved to our self-efforts. We simply have faith in Jesus.
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of
sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth
fruit unto death (Romans 7:5).
“The flesh” is a mindset. However, when we live by the law, this mindset even impacts our physical flesh.
To be in the flesh means to try to do the good things that the law requires, through our self-effort.
We err if we put more faith in what we can do for Jesus than in what He has already done for us.
And the law is not of faith… (Galatians 3:12).
…For whatsoever is not of faith is sin (Romans 14:23).
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken
diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all
his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God
will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these
blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken
unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city,
and blessed shalt thou be in the field… But it shall come to pass, if
thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to
do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day;
that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee
(Deuteronomy 28:1-3, 15).
The law was conditional, and based on man’s
performance. By contrast, the phrase “if thou” does not appear when God
talks about the new covenant; instead, the phrase “I will” appears
throughout.
The Abrahamic covenant, also known as the covenant of
promise, is a mirror-image of the new covenant. The Abrahamic covenant
was unconditional, and not part of the Law of Moses.
The law produces sin-consciousness; sin-consciousness
produces condemnation; condemnation produces self-righteousness; and
self-righteousness keeps us in the flesh.
When we believe in what Jesus did, God considers us righteous, apart from our actions.
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made
unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption (1
Corinthians 1:30).
When we got born again, we received the wisdom of God, and became sanctified, righteous, and holy.
We were also delivered from the curse of not being able to perform the Law of Moses.
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as
pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by
works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the
scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for
righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of
grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him
that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God
imputeth righteousness without works (Romans 4:1-6).
“The flesh” is defined here as trying to justify oneself by works.
If Abraham had been justified by works, it would have been by his own performance; we know this was not the case.
Abraham was under grace; God treated Abraham as righteous even when Abraham did not act righteous.
When we believe God, eventually our actions will eventually fall in line with our belief.
Faith, not actions, justifies us. At Jesus’ crucifixion,
one of the thieves on the cross voiced his belief in Jesus. He had no
opportunity to justify himself.
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on
him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other
answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art
in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due
reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said
unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And
Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me
in paradise (Luke 23:39-43).
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness,
which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the
righteousness which is of God by faith (Philippians 3:9).
The only true righteousness is the righteousness we receive from God; this comes when we believe Him.
We must have a sincere heart for what we do; we must not be motivated by praise from others.

STREET LIGHT RECRUITING -- ''THE Pros in Prospect Promotion''
Understanding the relationship between quarterbacks and wide receivers goes a lot deeper than just being familiar with the playbook. After watching numerous teams from the high school level and up, it’s quickly become apparent the difference between strong and weak chemistry. Obviously, the best solution to solving these potential issues is through practice and getting reps together. After all, doesn’t practice make perfect? In this article, I’ll take a more in-depth look at this concept of chemistry between the two vital offensive positions.
General Importance Taking a look at this idea of from a general standpoint, we realize the most efficient and effective quarterback-receiver duos weren’t one-hit wonders. You don’t form this magical tandem right off the bat. Over the course of history, some of the most electric duos included Jim Kelly to Andre Reed, Dan Marino to Mark Clayton, Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison, and so on. The commonality amongst all of these is the fact that they played together for at least 10 seasons. When you go through offseason workouts and entire seasons together for that long, chemistry arises. This section wasn’t just designed to get you thinking of how chemistry is needed to be truly great, but also that it isn’t a quick process.
Extra Reps Before/After Practice During regular practice time, it is likely you’ll improve your skills vastly over the course of the season. Particularly if you’re rather new to the game, you will be amazed by how much you can learn and grow as a player. Likewise, chances are players will be split into position groups for a period of time at each practice. This time will be critical towards developing a relationship with your teammates that play the same position. The same logic can be applied to receivers catching passes from their quarterback. However, I don’t believe you can ever have enough practice at these two spots. Just as in basketball where you can never shoot enough free throws before and after practice, this hard- working mentality can be applied to football. For any receivers and quarterbacks interested in taking advantage of this extra time, I recommend doing some routes before and after practices. Not only will this impress the coaches who might give the players more playing time, but it will help develop chemistry. Each player will start to understand more and more of how the other operates on the football field
More in Common than Just Football Yes, I understand that the reason you’re spending this extra time practicing together is to score more points in the games, but this time will be much better spent if you get along with each other. Especially for some of the younger players, they might not play past high school. So, with this being the case, shouldn’t you try to make some memories that will last and gain a friend that’s there for you on-and-off the field? It’s nice to have someone that’s willing to put in the work to be a better football player, but in the end, having something in common other than football can truly help broaden the overall relationship.
Trust & Timing “The essence of football was blocking, tackling, and execution based on timing, rhythm and deception.” This quote is from Knute Rokne, who was the head coach at Notre Dame from 1918-1930. Since Rokne’s time on the sideline, the game has changed tremendously. However, these concepts of rhythm and timing still very much exist. Have you ever seen an offensive unit get in a flow during a game where they seem to be unstoppable? I, for one, can tell you that I’ve witnessed this countless times. The dynamic of a pass play requires trust and timing between all parties. The receivers have to trust their timing is perfect (thanks to those extra reps!) and believe their quarterback won’t leave them in a position where they’ll get blindsided by a defensive back. Likewise, the quarterbacks must trust the receivers knows their route and will turn at the correct time. Failure on the receiver’s part to accurately complete this task will possibly result in an interception, which won’t only upset the quarterback, but also force him to be hesitant in looking in that receiver’s area in future opportunities. Without the proper trust and timing, it is quite likely you’ll be witnessing a sub-par passing attack.
Respect for Each Other Due to football’s tough nature, it isn’t uncommon to see things get a little chippy on the sidelines. Even at the youth levels, players understand how difficult it is to get regular playing time at some of the skill positions, with one of these being quarterback. However, that doesn’t give you the right to disrespect a teammate after a mistake. Some of this falls on the coach for creating the proper culture, while plenty is on the shoulders of the players. Ultimately, if you want players to spend the extra time to build chemistry with their teammates, they need to feel respected. It all goes back to the idea of this relationship taking time to develop. There will be peaks and valleys, but the finish line is only possible when both sides show respect.
Willingness to Work The last concept I’ll bring up is the willingness to work. In the past, I’ve heard people say the only way to build an elite quarterback-receiver duo is through a couple of exceptional players. Yes, talent is essential, but remember “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” It’s not rocket science to see how dominant a tandem of Tom Brady and Randy Moss can be, but how about the effectiveness that the Matt Cassel-Dwayne Bowe duo had? What I’m trying to say is it all comes
down to a willingness to work. If you’re fourth on the depth chart at receiver, then pull the quarterback aside and let him know you’d like to change where you currently sit. Make him aware that you’re willing to put in whatever extra work is needed to form the chemistry and create a duo that can put up points in a hurry!
Just Do It! You’ve probably heard this famous slogan from Nike, but I’ve put it here as a closing statement to urge you to try to develop this chemistry with your teammate. Nothing negative can be created from this extra effort. It might not result in the next Jim Kelly-Andre Reed tandem, but it could create something you’d never expect. Maybe you’ll form a long-time friend or make you a harder worker in the classroom, you just never know. Rather than attempting to decide whether or not to try, just do it! Check out what Jim Harbaugh talked about to Patrick Willis and the 49ers about Team Chemistry.

NATURAL PAIN RELIEF! MSM
stands for Methyl Sulfonyl Methane, organic sulfur. When it rains, MSM
falls on the ground and is used by plants. Your body needs MSM and
contains some but, if you had more MSM in your body, you would endure
far less pain and suffering from arthritis, back pain, Fibromyalgia and
muscle soreness. Vibrant Life has the exclusive license to
represent one of the largest manufacturers of MSM in the world and
brings you this wonderful substance at prices that are generally lower
than any other source. There are no additives or fillers.
Purity is established at 99.5% pure MSM, by independent laboratory
analysis, with 0.5% moisture. You should take about 10 to 40 capsules
per day, or if using the loose powder take between 2 to 4 heaped
teaspoons per day - enough to eliminate the pain. There is no toxic
overdose. Vibrant Life offers the highest quality MSM available
-- plus we now have an exclusive new product we call Supportt™ Arthritis
(Herbal MSM).
Thousands of years of Indian history with
Ayurvedic Medicine and millions of people TODAY suggest that the pain
and suffering from arthritis has been solved in India. What is
not much appreciated in the Western world is that Ayurvedic medicine is
the most used medical system on the planet. For many countries emerging
out of a third world status with today’s modern knowledge, Ayurvedic
medicine seems far more attractive than the drug-centered, costly
allopathic medicine of the West. For thousands of years of
Indian history Ayurvedic Medicine has been successful in the treatment
and cure of ailments and disease. Now the combination of the already
established effectiveness of MSM and the success of Ayurvedic herbs is
conveniently obtainable in Supportt™ Arthritis (Herbal MSM). This is the safer solution to arthritis pain that actually works! MSM is Methyl Sulfonyl Methane a very close cousin to DMSO. You take
DMSO and boil it, and one atom of oxygen is added to the DMSO molecule,
turning it into DMSO². This is "MSM." DMSO is well known as a
"carrier." By that we mean if you mix any of many other different
substances with the DMSO, and apply this mixture (liquid) to the sole of
your foot you will get a different taste in your mouth, in the same few
seconds. The difference in taste will depend on the other
substance, which is added to the DMSO. This substance is carried very
quickly through the body to the mouth to be tasted. MSM has the
same properties as DMSO on a more subtle scale. In the case of Supportt™
Arthritis (Herbal MSM), the powerful pain relieving capabilities of
Ayurvedic herbs are carried through the body. MSM is a detoxifier and a
"penetrant"! You have arthritis and have tried taking drugs,
they are not helping. You have noticed the warnings of the adverse side
effects of prescription drug solutions. This is a dilemma that many are
suffering with. The body does not need drugs! Virtually
all medical drugs are designed around the concept that some germ or
some part of the body needs to be suppressed or killed! Your body is
NOT ill or is not in pain because of a deficiency of a drug! The body
does NOT need drugs!
The body DOES NEED food, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, to continue living and to repair itself. Ayurvedic medicine works on this concept. It uses herbs that are
basically foods. The ancients observed for thousand of years, which of
these plants, in what dosages, often very small, could provide the
nutrition the body was lacking. Some of these herbs also assist in the
detoxification. Ayurvedic herbs, if properly extracted, and also
properly taken, are often at least as effective as prescription pain
drugs, without the harmful side effects. By combining this
knowledge with the already established effectiveness of MSM, the
marriage of Ayurvedic medicine and Western technology is now available

On September 5, 2018 Tyrone William Griffin Jr., better known as rapper
and singer Ty Dolla $ign, was arrested on charges of marijuana and
cocaine possession in Atlanta, Georgia after an officer on foot patrol
walked by his tour van in and smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana. The officer, Che Milton, called a K9 unit to confirm, and - following an
astonishingly strong hit on Mr. Dolla $ign's property - officers
subsequently located 18 grams of marijuana, a quantity of cocaine, and
thousands of dollars in cash. Problematic for responding officers, however, was the fact that none of
the seven occupants of the van were willing to claim the drugs as their
own. And so, Officer Milton - apparently in an arresty mood - rounded up
all seven van occupants and brought them in.
But what were the cops supposed to do from there? Enter the Office of
the District Attorney.
For the most part, police officers do not and cannot charge people with
crimes, nor can they drop charges against arrestees. In fact, the police
generally don't make charging decisions at all. That is all within the
purview of the prosecutor's office. The police are only involved to the
[very significant] extent that they gather and provide evidence and
charging recommendations to the prosecutor. Accordingly, in complex cases and unusual situations police officers
often consult with the prosecutor's office on how they should proceed.
In doing so the officer can ensure that they are complying with the law
while maximizing the chances of a successful prosecution. In this video listen in on the conversation between Officer Che Milton
and an Atlanta ADA as they discuss how to proceed in the case involving
Ty Dolla $ign, Skrillex, and their entourage. Of note, at no point does
the officer mention who the subjects are in the case. Want to help make Real World Police happen AND get rewarded for it? Become a supporter on Patreon today!

And they answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your
personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you
and your household [if they also believe].”
God wants to take care of you, and He can do a much better job of it if you will avoid a problem called independence, which is really self-care.
The desire to take care of yourself is
based on fear. You are afraid of what might happen if you entrust
yourself totally to God and He doesn’t come through for you. The root
problem of independence is you trust yourself more than you trust God.
People love to have a backup plan. You may
ask God to get involved in your life, but if He doesn’t respond as
quickly as you’d like, you take control back into your own hands.
But God has a plan for you—and His plan is
much better than yours. So, give yourself to Him and see what happens. I
promise you won’t be disappointed.
Prayer Starter:
Father, I can’t do it on my own. Help me to place my trust in You and
turn over complete control. I want Your plan for my life. In Jesus’
Name, Amen.
“Give, and it shall be given

Jesse teaches how the Gospel is your personal revelation of Christ that was gifted to you to be prized, guarded, and shared. 13 Bible Verses for Healing By: Sara Reyes
Our God is a loving God. He can
heal us in many ways that we need him to: physical, mental, emotional,
or financial. But for Him to heal us, we must pray for His healing. We
need to show our faith and trust in God! In addition to
praying to God for healing, you can read the Bible. Most people don’t
realize that by reading the Bible, you can be healed, too. The Bible
isn't magical, but it can prepare your mind and your spirit for being
healed. If you have faith and open your mind up to the chance to be
healed Pray to God for healing… but also, please read our Bible
verses and meditate on the on healing you need. Just remember: God IS
there for you! Below are the top 13 Bible verses that you should read
for healing! Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD
your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take
sickness away from the midst of thee. This verse means that our
God will bless all of our provisions for us – so that even bread and
water can take our sickness away from us. No, this doesn’t mean that
there is some magical cure for what ails us, but all of God’s love and
blessings will go into every bite we eat and every sip we take. God’s
healing will be a part of many things around us.
Psalms 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; This verse reminds us that our God will not only forgive our sins and
imperfections, He will also heal us from all of our afflictions. This
may be simple and short, but that doesn’t make it any less true. In
fact, the small verse helps us see the big picture: not only does God
forgive us He also HEALS us! Psalms 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. It only takes one word from God for us to be healed. His love and power
is unimaginable – but we do know that our Lord God will take care of
us. And all that he needs to do is say the word that we are healed and
we will be. Our God is amazing! We should remember this as we pray to
Him for healing! Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health
unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because
they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh
after. Even if the world sees you as an outcast, if you are a
faithful Christian God will provide you healing. He will restore your
health and treat your wounds, just as long as you pray for the healing
He can provide. A lot of times, people may not understand your need for
healing or why you should turn to God. As long as you keep God in your
heart and in your mind, you can talk to Him and then receive His
healing. Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom,
and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the
people. This verse in the book of Matthew is proof that God can
heal our illnesses. When Jesus walked the earth, He healed many people
and even brought Lazarus back from the dead. What more proof do we need
of God’s healing love? All we need to do is ask for it! Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. Sometimes when we seek healing, it is not because we are physically
ill. It is because that mentally, we are not well. This type of illness
can have many forms: anxiety, worry, paranoia, depression, anger,
frustration, greed, envy or even lust. But have faith! Our God can heal
us of these afflictions as well. Just because YOU cannot see your
illness, it doesn’t mean that God can’t. Pray to God for mental and
spiritual healing… your life will be better after you do! Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. This verse speaks of the healers on Earth that God empowers. There are
those on Earth who help to spread God’s work and healing just as the
disciples did. These people should live by the thought that "freely ye
have received, freely give." God has healed them at no cost, so they
should give this healing for free as well. If you go to someone on Earth
to help with your illness, remember this: those faithful people who
could help you should not rob your pocket. Do not be taken in by liars
or fools… trust in God’s ability to heal. And trust those who love God
as well. Matthew 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. If you need to understand God’s desire to heal us, look at the actions
of Jesus, His only Son! Jesus was moved with compassion to heal many
people, regardless of their background, as long as they would let Him!
This should speak volumes to us of God’s love. Jesus, who would later be
crucified, was compassionate and cared for the sick. He saw sheep
without a shepherd and he wanted to be the one to lead them, take care
of them and heal them. Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; God gave the apostles the power to heal the sick and to spread the good
word. I think that in this day and age, we should use this verse as a
word of advice: healing from God can come in many forms. Do not think
that healing only comes in a vision or in a mystical way. God will use
the world around us to show us how to be healed, if He does not heal us
Himself! Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and
healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit – this gave him the power to
heal the sick and help the downtrodden. He did this because our God
WANTS us to be healed and to live a happy, fulfilled Christian life. God
has a plan for us, but He does not want us to suffer. That is why He
gave His only Son the power to heal many – to prove to us that He loves
us! James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with
oil in the name of the Lord: This verse illustrates that other
faithful Christians can help us heal. If others gather to pray with us
and for us, we can find healing in a variety of ways. We will feel loved
by others and strong, so this can help us through rough times. Not only
that, but it will help us receive healing from God. So do not be afraid
to approach the fellow members of your church when you are feeling ill
or full of woe – they are there to support you! James 5:16 Confess
your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be
healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. This verse also speaks of just how powerful the prayers of other
Christians can be. If you pray for others, just as they pray for you,
you can help them heal. If a faithful, righteous person prays, God hears
it. So do your best to pray for others when they need healing, so one
day you can receive healing because others have prayed for you. 1 Peter 2:24 Who
his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being
dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed. This verse in the book of Peter reminds us that Jesus
died for our sins… and what more proof do we need that God loves us and
wants us to be healed? He sacrificed Jesus, His only Son, so that our
sins may be forgiven. He healed us from the sins that doomed us – He can
also heal us from any ailment that we have. Trust in God. If
you need to be healed, He can heal you. Live a righteous life, pray to
God, and ask your fellow Christians for prayers as well. If you do these
things, you CAN find ways to be healed… they might just be not what you
expect!

Purpose: To properly execute the backpedal technique. Execution:
A number of defensive backs can do the drill at once. From a good
starting position – knees bent at a 45-degree angle, weight on the balls
of the feet, head up, and back straight – a coach will give the command
to begin the backpedal. Defensive backs work on pushing off the front
foot and continuing the backpedal. Coaches stress keeping the chest over
the feet as well as telling players to keep their feet close to the
ground. Defensive backs should also use their arms just like they were
running forward. The drill can progress from half speed to full speed to
help players perfect the backpedal.
Backpedal, Shuffle and Break Purpose: To help defensive backs progress from the backpedal to running with a receiver. Execution:
On command, a defensive back begins first with the backpedal. On the
next command, the player begins a shuffle for two to three steps to get
in position for the final phase of the drill. The final command tells
the defensive back to turn and run with a receiver. The defender breaks
on the ball when the coach throws it. The drill can be done on air or
can utilize other DBs as receivers so the defender gets a better idea of
turning and running with a receiver.
90-Degree Break Purpose: To teach a defensive back to break and drive for the football. Execution:
On command, a defensive back begins the drill in a backpedal. On the
next command, the defender plants a foot in the ground and breaks at 90 degrees
(horizontally from the line of scrimmage). If the ball is not thrown,
the player will continue in a backpedal. Again on command, the player
will execute the 90-degree break but this time in the opposite
direction. The drill continues until the coach throws the ball and the
defender breaks on it and intercepts it.
Weave Drill Purpose: To improve agility and to maintain proper positioning on a moving receiver. Execution:
A defensive back lines up inside or outside on a receiver at a distance
of five yards. The receiver will come off the line of scrimmage and
change direction at least twice. The defender’s job is to maintain his
relationship – inside or outside, wherever he started the drill – on the
receiver. The defender will weave in order to do so. Coaches must pay
attention to the defender’s hips. They should remain square. The
defender continues to backpedal but at an angle while maintaining proper
relationship with the receiver.
Defend Seam Drill Purpose: To develop a defensive back’s ball-hawking skills Execution:
A defensive back aligns approximately 15 yards from the line of
scrimmage in the middle of the field. Two receivers line up on the
hashes with a quarterback in the middle at the line of scrimmage. On
command, the quarterback will drop and the receivers will run down the
hashes simulating the inside portion of the 4-vertical pass route. The
defender backpedals keeping both receivers in front of him while reading
the quarterback’s eyes. The passer will turn and throw to one of the
receivers. As soon as the quarterback turns, the defender will plant and
break on the football. Ideally, the defensive back will intercept the
ball and return it at least 10 yards. The defender may also knock the
ball away preventing the reception if he cannot make the pick.
Cushion Drill Purpose: To help a defender maintain his cushion on a receiver and prevent the receiver from getting behind him. Execution:
A receiver aligns at the line of scrimmage. A defensive back lines up –
inside or outside – on the receiver. On command, the receiver takes off
and the defender uses his backpedal to maintain his cushion on him.
When the receiver comes within three yards of the defensive back, he
must turn and run so he does not allow the receiver to get behind him.
Coaches should point out that the defensive back wants to intersect
roughly half to a third of his body in front of the receiver. By doing
so, the defender is not allowing the receiver an easy path to get
downfield. Defenders must turn quickly and run to ensure they are not
beaten deep.
Zone Flip Drill Purpose: To execute the zone flip technique properly. Execution:
A defensive back aligns approximately six to eight yards off the line
of scrimmage and two yards inside of a receiver (who is on the line of
scrimmage). On command, the defender will execute the zone flip. His
eyes must see everything, meaning he must see the release of the
receiver as well as the quarterback. The defensive back’s back will be
to the sideline as he “presses” the receiver that direction. The purpose
of the zone flip is to give the quarterback a false read. The passer
will not know whether the defender is playing loose zone or man-to-man. A
coach can incorporate a throw into the drill to allow the defender to
get comfortable breaking on the ball.
Trail Drill Purpose: To learn to play trail man-to-man technique properly. Execution:
To begin the drill, a defensive back will line up in a press position
against a wide receiver. The defender will align with inside leverage
and force the receiver to take an outside release. When the receiver
works his release, the defensive back will transition into his trail
technique working to press the receiver into the sideline. Knowing he
has safety help, the defensive back can be more flexible with his trail
technique. Coaches should ensure that defenders never allow an inside
release. The drill can progress to having a passer involved as well as a
deep safety providing help.
Agility Box Purpose: To improve agility and the ability to stop and start quickly. Execute:
Using a 10 x 10 box, two defensive backs will align directly in the
middle. To begin the drill, defenders will fire their feet. Players will
then be given a series of commands that force them to change direction
frequently. The coach can have the players backpedal, turn at a
45-degree angle and run, break to the line of scrimmage, or turn and run
to a given cone. Coaches should emphasize players’ foot placement.

Taste the Difference! Try the Iced Chocolate Dream…
We use a splash of vanilla stevia to
add sweetness to this bevvy. Not only is stevia a sweet herb that has
absolutely zero sugar, but stevia has actually been shown to control blood sugar
levels. Another perk: the addition of vanilla makes this particular
stevia great for people who don’t like the taste of this plant alone. Next up, the coconut milk, which
leads this recipe it’s distinctly creamy texture. We also love coconut
milk because it contains less additives than most other milk
alternatives, and coconut can improve fat loss and brain function. Finally, the cocoa/cacao is loaded with powerful polyphenols,
which are antioxidants which can aid in weight loss, cardiovascular and
digestive health (and more!), and a healthy hit of magnesium. You can
read more about the difference between cocoa and cacao powder here, but suffice it to say that cacao contains more polyphenols and will give you the most benefits.
Ready to drink up? Try our Iced Chocolate Dream! Here’s what you’ll need: (makes two servings — multiple ingredients to make more)
4 tbsp cocoa/cacao powder
8 tbsp canned coconut milk (we like Aroy-D because there are no additives)
16-18 drops vanilla stevia
2 cups boiled water
Instructions: Mix all ingredients together and then chill for three hours or overnight. Enjoy!
