When you take in information, you are the one who chooses to think
positively or negatively about it, and then your attitude will affect
your words and actions.
There are times when we feel overwhelmed. We go through a
loss, we're dealing with a sickness, or we're not being treated right. A
lady recently told me how things had come against her at work. "I can't
take the stress, the worry, the demands. It's too much to handle." She
felt she was going to collapse under the weight of it, as though it was
unbearable. But the apostle Paul said, "God is faithful. He will not let
you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But with the temptation, He
will make a way of escape so you can bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). God
will never let you face more pressure than you can handle.
When an architect designs a skyscraper, he doesn't just design the
outside look—the style, the materials, the color. That's important, but
that will be of no use if he doesn't design the right inner structure.
He calculates all the loads, how much each floor will weigh, how much
wind it will face, how much equipment will be on it. Then he knows how
big the steel beams need to be, how deep the piers in the ground, and
how thick the foundation. In California, buildings require special
reinforcements in the framing for earthquakes. In Florida, the window
glass has to be able to withstand hurricane force winds. Buildings in
Colorado may require heaters to melt the winter snow to avoid buildups
of weight that collapse roofs. The architect designs each structure
specifically so it can withstand the pressure, bear the weight, and
endure the elements.
The good news is, your architect is the Most High God. He not only
designed solar systems and mountain ranges, He designed you. When He
laid out the plan for your life, He calculated everything you would
face—all the pressure, the weight, the elements. He took in to account
every hurt, injustice, loss, and mistake. He designed your beams thick
enough and your foundation deep enough. He put in you the strength, the
fortitude, and the tenacity that no matter what comes against you, it
will not be too much to bear. You've been designed to withstand the
opposition, overcome the injustice, and endure till the dream comes to
pass.
When we're tempted to think, "I can't handle this," the Scripture
tells us, "Don't faint in your mind" (Hebrews 12:3). Your structure is
strong enough; now get your mind strong enough. Tell yourself, "I am
well able. No weapon formed against me will prosper. That difficulty
will pass. I am strong and of good courage, for the Lord my God is with
me."
At the
same time, it shouldn’t be confused with the techniques and strategies
utilized on the baseball side. It requires a different approach and of
course, plenty of practice. In this article, I’ll walk you through some
of the basics of fastpitch softball pitching. Whether you’re a coach,
parent, or player, these points will help start you on the path to
success. Mechanics First and
foremost, mechanics are critical. This can’t be stressed enough. Without
the proper mechanics, you’re not only going to struggle to find success
on the field, but there is an increased susceptibility to injuries
later on down the road. While mechanics is a broad term and could easily
fill an article by itself, I wanted to stress the primary points here. Stretching -
Something as basic as stretching is ignored countlessly by young
athletes. The truth is without an appropriate stretching routine, don’t
be surprised when you see shoulder injuries pop up later on. Proper Stance -
Stand straight and tall with your shoulders back. The foot on your
throwing arm side will be placed in front of the pitching rubber with
the glove-side foot behind the rubber. As a side note, keep in mind that
a lot of leagues and associations specify how much of the foot can be
touching the rubber. Backswing - A common misconception
is that the speed or height of your backswing is truly what’s generating
the heat on the pitch. Yes, it might help a little, but the key is to
work at a speed where you still feel comfortable and in control. Don’t
rush it too much!
Arm Moving Forward - Here’s where
you’re going to generate the majority of your speed. As you move towards
your push-off foot, make sure you’re utilizing your body weight to
transfer over more power. Obviously, there’s more things involved
in terms of the entire pitching process, but I wanted to be sure to
highlight these items as they tend to be overlooked. Proper Release When
you’re arm is moving towards the release point, try your best to keep
the wrist back. This will allow you to whip it forward upon release. As
you release the ball, keep your arm outstretched. Not completely
straight, but no more than a little bend. Lastly, continue to stand tall
throughout the process. Any bending of the knees will likely result in a
loss of speed on the pitch. Confidence As
is the case in nearly every other sport, confidence is critical to
success. If you’re not confident in basketball, you’re not going to
trust your shot. If you struggle with confidence in golf, you’re going
to miss easy puts. Starting to get the point? Well, this is no different
when it comes to fast-pitch softball, particularly for pitchers. Here’s
a few tips to think about, whether you’re coaching up a young pitcher
or are one yourself: Don’t let one bad inning spoil your day.
You’re going to have some bad games. No matter how good you are, it
just happens. Even one of the greatest softball players of all time,
Jennie Finch, had some not-so-great performances on the mound. Learn from your mistakes.
A tip that can be used in all walks of life is yet again a viable
strategy for softball. If a pitch isn’t working early on in a game, try
using some other options you have in your repertoire. It’ll even
possibly keep your opponents a little off-balance later on in the game. Practice Makes Perfect It
can’t be stressed enough the importance practice plays in pitching. If
you want to be a successful softball pitcher, you need to have the
entire process down to the point where you can consistently repeat it
time and time again. The only way to do this is through continuously
practicing. If you’re just starting out, work on throwing 10-15 pitches
to the point where they’re all strikes. Then, gradually build up that
pitch count. A second technique is to work on spins. Toss the ball in
the air to yourself and focus on generating some spin on it. What may
seem like a trivial exercise can be definitely beneficially is building
the right techniques. In the end, the only way you’ll develop your game
is through careful instruction and constant practice!

Your
muscles are necessary for functioning but they have been built to be
used, not to sit ideally. Your body is used to providing your muscles
with the fuel that they need to work hard. If you don't work hard, your
body can't maintain a healthy muscle mass.
What's Healthy? As we
mentioned early, to know what level of fitness your body is in, you
need to take into consideration the vast number of measurements that
we've already taken. Your weight, your blood pressure and your body
mass index are good indications of your overall health.
Yet, it
goes further than this, too. You should understand how well your body

Statistics about mental health
problems are now becoming more increasingly alarming. The key factors in
the apparent rise in mental health cases have not yet been fully
determined. In fact, authorities may have released inaccurate figures
since people tend to hide mental illness or ignore them. This is also
the reason why many mental health problems worsen. Perhaps, the only
good news to come out from this is that there are some common mental
health disorders and conditions among the statistics. According to the
records of a number of Washington-based psychiatric hospitals, there are
four particularly common strands of mental health problems that have
been recorded. Depression Among all the common mental
health disorders, depression is stated as being the most common.
Approximately 80% of the population has experienced clinical depression
at one point in their lives. In the early stages, this problem can be
alleviated through counseling. However, the problem lies in the fact
that most people tend to see the early stages of depression as just a
negative mood swing. Since it is typically difficult for most people to
detect depression until it has taken full effect, the condition can
often go completely unnoticed. For some people, the physical and mental
changes are gradual, which only makes it harder to detect the problem. Bi-polar Disorder Bipolar
disorder, as compared with depression, is more difficult to detect. The
condition causes the person's mood to swing, being manic one moment and

mood. This period of normalcy between the high and low points is often

Alzheimer's
Arguably, Alzheimer's Disease is among the most

during the latter years of a person, Alzheimer's can take an immense
toll on one's life and relationships. As a debilitating condition, it

these and other scriptures, you can see that God never intended you to
experience all of the junk that the world suffers. He’s always wanted
His children to live above it, to stand out as light in a dark world. In
the Old Testament, God’s fame was established because of the miracles
He had worked for His children. That same thing should be true today
with you and me. We should be glorifying God by the miraculously
victorious lives we live. People should be coming up to us and saying
things like, “I’ve heard how God healed you.” Or, “I’ve heard how your
children were delivered from drugs,” or, “God has really brought you out
of a financial crisis.” Can you see now why Satan would spread a
rumor that would make you believe you have to suffer with the world
instead of live as victor over it? He doesn’t want people running after
you asking where you get your power, your peace, your health and
prosperity. But that’s exactly what God wants to happen. So, put
the Word of God to work and dare to receive the blessings He has
promised to you. Let the light of God’s power in your life put the
devil’s dark rumors to rest!
