KEVIN DEHAVEN

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be more muscular and look more athletic. I played sports growing up until I reached high school then I went a different direction…a bad direction of a whole lot of partying!! I remember always wanting to work out; I would often look at the magazines thinking that gaining muscle and getting in better shape was something I still really wanted to do even into my early adult years. One quality I’ve always had was a willingness to work and an understanding that anything I really wanted in life I was going to have to work for. When I was 26 I finally joined a gym and got to it.

Not only did I get bitten by the bug and compete within a year and a half but training also motivated me to make a career change. I started working at a local GNC store and gave up all the manual labor jobs I had been doing. This way of life led me into a very fruitful career. Following the GNC store, I moved from Virginia to North Carolina and became a sales rep for Europa Sports Products (the largest distributor of nutritional products in the USA). From there, I had the pleasure of  working for ISS Research / OhYeah! Nutrition for 12 years followed by the beast that is BPI Sports as the Corporate Sales Manager for the last 4 years. All of these jobs, which were some of the very best in the industry, kept me very involved with every aspect of the muscle and fitness world. I have been fortunate enough to gain valuable friendships with some of the most influential people and athletes within the industry. All the while training, healthy living and eating has always remained a huge part of my life. In the last 20 years I have competed a dozen times personally and helped 200+ athletes achieve their best condition, whether on the stage or just as a personal goal. I have helped athletes at all levels, both amateurs and pros.Much of what I know I have learned from some of the very best coaches (in my opinion) over the years while they helped me for shows. My principles and philosophies were formed through the practical application of those experiences, and coupled with my partner Cornelius’ training and nutrition philosophies, we formed DECON Nutrition and Training. I have made a full time commitment to this and am now able to pursue my passion of helping others achieve their goal! I want to help unlock the secret within you!

New Vitamin C and Citrus Juices
By: Suzanne Houston

Vitamin C, ascorbic acid, is one of the most vital vitamins found in citrus juices, including juice. First Significant. The body only soaks up 5% of vitamins from tablets or pills the rest is sent down the toilet. Discover how you can absorb 98%. Glance at the bottom of this page.

Testing for vitamin C levels in different forms of orange is also a favorite science project for many scholars. Thanks to the limited available references on vitamin C levels in citrus juices and how it degrades over time , this web site will try to provide some info on the topic to help students find additional references for their science projects.

Vitamin C. Regularly projects find that orange juices made of frozen concentrated orange ( FCOJ ) have the highest vitamin C levels in comparison to freshly squeezed or not-from-concentrate ( NFC ) juices. This is because of the fact that vitamin C degrades over time in fresh and NFC, but does not degrade as much in FCOJ due to it being frozen until reconstitution. If you're comparing a NFC product which has been stored for roughly three weeks vs a newly reconstituted FCOJ, the FCOJ would surely have a higher vitamin C concentration.

Also one more thing to consider is if the FCOJ is reconstituted to the same strength as fresh or NFC. If one doesn't add enough water, then the vitamin C ( and other compounds ) would be more concentrated. Another thing to be considered is that the vitamin C content changes thru the crop season and orange variety also plays a part. Since most FCOJ is blended to a larger extent than some NFCs, it is wholly possible that the NFC is produced from a variety / season which has lower vitamin C content.

According to Nagy and Smoot, temperature and storage time affects the percent of vitamin C content of orange fruits and orange juice. Alternative types of oranges also have different levels of vitamin C. The mid-season variety, Pineapple Orange had the highest levels, followed by the key early-season variety, Hamlin Orange. The late-season Valencia Orange had the lowest vitamin C content. In addition, it was discovered that the longer the Valencia Orange fruit stayed on the tree, the lower the vitamin C level. ( Additional details on these orange kinds can be found from links in

The story of Florida Juice - from the Grove to Your Glass. ) Nagy and Smoot also found that in orange juice containers, vitamin C loss was due to oxidation by a residual air layer surrounded within the container during processing. The loss was faster in the first two weeks and was more clear at higher storage temperatures. orange must be kept cool to prevent vitamin C degradation as it is sped up at high storage temperatures. .

RE: ðŸ’ªSpecial Report by Joseph Arangio, Tactical Strength and Conditioning Coach
The footage shows an officer opening fire as the suspect runs across traffic on the freeway in the Hollywood area. The incident happened on Sunday, Nov. 18. It started when a Range Rover struck another car on surface streets in Hollywood and then took off when officers tried to pull him over. The SUV jumped onto the 101 Freeway but when it got stuck in traffic, the driver took off on foot, running across the opposite lanes. That's when the video shows the officer opening fire at the suspect. Police say the suspect had a gun and had pointed it at the officer. A handgun was later recovered on the freeway ramp and was being tested to see if it is linked to the suspect. Officers located the suspect in the stairwell of a building and arrested him. He was treated for minor injuries that may have been graze wounds from the officer's bullets. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Harut Torosyan Police say he has a lengthy criminal record and was on probation. He is now facing several charges including felony evading and a felon in possession of a gun. They arrested a passenger in the vehicle as well, who was linked to an unrelated crime and is facing robbery charges. Investigators are looking into whether the use of force was justified.

There's Great Value in Variety

Adapted from the resource Trusting God Day by Day Devotional - by Joyce MeyerIf we do the same thing over and over, sooner or later we’re going to get bored. We don’t have to wait for something nice to happen to us; we can be aggressive and do something nice for ourselves. For many of you, I know this is a new thought that may seem foreign and even unspiritual. But I can assure you that it is part of God’s plan. You can create variety, and it will keep your life more exciting.
I sat with my computer on my lap for about four hours this morning and then stopped for a while to do some other things I needed to do. When I went back to my writing, I decided to sit in a different part of the house just for variety. I chose a place that had plenty of light where I could look out the window. Simple little things like this cost nothing, but they are very valuable.
No day needs to be ordinary if we realize the gift God is giving us when He gives us another day to live and enjoy. An extraordinary attitude can quickly turn an ordinary day into an amazing adventure. Jesus said He came so that we might have and enjoy life (see John 10:10). If we refuse to enjoy it, then it’s no one’s fault but our own.
I would like to suggest that you take responsibility for your joy and never again give anyone else the job of keeping you happy. Add a little variety to your life—break up your routine, do something different, and so on. When you do, expect God to meet you and help make your ordinary...extraordinary!
Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for Your joy. Please help me to approach my life with adventure, choosing to enjoy each and every day...and adding variety all along the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

No Time for Clay Pots

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2 Timothy 2:20

Are you destined for greatness in the kingdom of God?
Ask most believers that question and they'll humbly assure you they're not. "You know we can't all be golden vessels" they'll say. "Like the Bible says, some of us are just called to be little clay pots."
Praise God, the Bible doesn't say any such thing!
Certainly there are going to be some golden vessels in the kingdom and there are going to be some clay pots, but we are the ones—not God—who determine which kind we will be. Second Timothy 2:21 tells us that "whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work" (The Amplified Bible).
Golden vessel or clay pot—the choice is up to you!
Why then do so many believers choose to do menial work in the kingdom of God? Why are they content to remain clay pots?
Because they lack one thing every golden vessel must have. They lack dedication. They haven't made a quality decision to separate themselves from contaminating influences. They haven't been willing to turn away from the ways of the world and go on with God past the point of no return.
My friend, God is doing some exciting things on this earth right now. He's working signs and wonders, paving the way for Jesus' return. This is a thrilling time, but it's definitely no time for clay pots! So if you haven't yet made the kind of commitment that will turn you into a golden vessel, admit it. Then take the time to get before God and study His Word and get your will in line with His. Let the Holy Spirit deal with you until you're willing to leave the ways of the world behind and walk in higher ways—the ways of God.
Do it now. The hour is late. The glory of God is spilling over the earth in one final thrilling wave. It's not trickling out of clay pots. It's being poured through golden vessels—and that's exactly what God is calling you to be.
