Joel Osteen Ministries Featuring: Victoria Osteen - Encourage Yourself and God Says, “I’ve Got This”

It’s great when family and friends are there to encourage us in difficult times, but we can’t depend on others to encourage us. We have to learn to encourage ourselves in the Lord every day. We have to remember what God has done in our life. We have to get in agreement with God and say, “Thank You, God, for who You made me to be. You made me to be more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. I’m an overcomer because You back me up, because I have Your Word in me, and I will overcome this.” [Video Below] This is message #773, "Encourage Yourself", by Victoria Osteen. God Says, “I’ve Got This”

Post by Joel Osteen on August 31, 2018

When our son, Jonathan, was going off to college for his freshman year, as parents we were concerned about how everything would work out. Would he get the right classes, would he meet the right friends, would he be overwhelmed? He'd never been in a large school setting, and his college has seventy thousand students. Victoria really wanted him to make a good friend or two at the start. When she was at the parents' orientation for the freshman students, she met another mother whose son was in the communications department like Jonathan, and she really liked this lady. Jonathan was in the students' orientation, so she sent this text: "Try to find a guy named Charlie. I met his mom. I think you'll like him." Jonathan read it and thought, "There are thousands of students in orientation. How would I ever find him?"

Jonathan went into his next session in a room crowded with hundreds of students and sat in a random chair. At one point, the instructor told them to take a minute and meet somebody. Jonathan turned to the guy sitting next to him and noticed a folder with a name written very small on it—"Charlie." Jonathan said, "I think my mother just met your mother. Are you Charlie?" He said, "Yes, I am. You must be Jonathan. My mother texted me to look for you." Out of thousands of students, they were sitting next to each other. God was saying to us as parents, "I've got this. I'm going to watch after your children." It's one thing when God is good to you, but when He's good to your children, there's a whole new level of gratefulness. Jonathan and Charlie became good friends, and four years later, they sat by each other at school one last time at their graduation. Charlie told Jonathan, "Let's finish like we started, side by side."
Are you worrying about your children, stressed out over your job, discouraged because of a disappointment, thinking it's not going to work out? We need to live with the attitude of the psalmist David. He had all kinds of things come against him—people, armies, even his own family—and yet he could say, "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1). David would say to you, "God's got this. He's directing your steps. He's bringing the right people across your path and your children's paths. He has beauty for the ashes, and right now He's working behind the scenes. Dare to believe, dare to trust. Be still and know that He is God. He has you in the palms of His hands."

Bowie State Shows Grit in 40-23 Season Opening Loss to Wagner College

Staten Island, N.Y. – Senior quarterback Amir Hall (Bowie, Md.) completed 28-of-42 passes for 348 yards and rushed for a team-high 65 yards but the Bulldogs fall 40-23 to Division I (FCS) Wagner College in the season opener for both teams on Thursday (8/30) night at Hameline Field.

Senior wide receiver Lansana Sesay (Bowie, Md.)  recorded four receptions for a team-high 89 yards while redshirt senior Gilbert Lunsford (Upper Marlboro, Md.) added eight receptions for 86 yards. Senior Maurice Williams (Baltimore, Md.) led Bowie State in All-Purpose Yards with 171 (136 Kick Return Yards, 26 reception yards and nine rushing yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, juniors John Johnson, IV (Washington, D.C.) and Taylor Johnson (Washington, D.C.) tallied seven and six tackles respectively.

An early personal foul penalty against the Bulldogs came back to hurt Bowie State, as Wagner quarterback Luke Massei completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to Denzel Knight for the first points of the season. Eric Silvester added the extra point and the Seahawks led 7-0 at the 13:18 mark of the opening quarter.

The Wagner Seahawks score again quickly via a blocked punt with Wagner’s Cameron Gill doing the damage and returning the block for a 28-yard touchdown to push the lead to 14-0. A 22-yard field goal at the 5:22 mark of the first quarter by Silver extending the Wagner lead to 17-0.

Bowie State junior kicker Gene Carson (Accokeek, Md.) booted a 33-yard field goal at the 2:04 mark for the Bulldogs first points of the evening and carried a 17-3 deficit into the second quarter.

A four-yard touchdown run by Wagner’s Ryan Fulse at the 11:22 mark of the second quarter followed by Silvester’s PAT gave the Seahawks a 24-3 advantage.

Another huge defensive lapse haunts Bowie State early in the second quarter as Fulse rumbles 77-yards for six and the 31-3 cushion with 8:26 left in the second quarter.

Hall busted a 57-yard rush that led to a 13-yard receiving touchdown to redshirt junior Deron Smith (Bowie, Md.) to cut the Bowie State deficit to 31-10 with 6:21 remaining in the first half. Carson closed the first half with a 42-yard field goal to send the Bulldogs into halftime trailing 31-13.

A huge 50-yard second half kickoff return by Bowie State Williams gave the Bulldogs a shot in the arm that led to a 14-yard Hall to senior Lansana Sesay (Bowie, Md.) pass, catch and score to trim the Wagner Seahawks’ lead down to 31-20 at the 12:42 mark of the third quarter.

Thanks to an interception by Bowie State senior Roger Richardson (Glenn Dale, Md.) the Bulldogs added a Carson 20-yard field at the 14:44 mark to narrow the Wagner lead to 31-23.

Fulse busts another 77-yard touchdown on Wagner’s next possession to give the Seahawks some breathing room at 38-23 at the 13:52 mark of the final quarter.
The Seahawks added a safety with 7:37 left in the game to account for the final score.

Wagner was paced offensively by Fulse with a game-high 271 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Knight was the Seahawks leading receiver with 101 reception yards on just two catches.

In terms of team stats, Bowie State outgained Wagner 456 to 415 and held a 32:54 to 27:06 possession time advantage. Penalties were a negative stat as the Bulldogs were penalized 15 times for 131 yards.

The Bulldogs will hit the road again in its next non-conference outing, making a trek over to Phillippi, W.Va. to face Alderson Broaddus at noon in the Battlers Multi-Purpose Performance Stadium.

Minding Your Business-Business Blogging Tips: Top 10 Topics to Blog About

Presented On US Sports Net by Yahoo Small Business.
By: Sarah Carter

Business blogging has many advantages. Blogging gives your company a chance to engage with your customers in a less formal setting than on your company website. A blog serves as an online platform for you to let your customers and potential customers in on some behind-the-scenes details about your company, highlight new products, announce special promotions and more. It can also be great for your SEO efforts. However, just creating a blog won't do anything; you need to actually write in it, a lot. Many companies blog weekly or even daily, which means you need some great content to keep your readers interested. Are you dealing with writer's block every time you sit down to compose a blog? Here are 10 great topics to help you get started.

• Summarize an industry-related news story. At the end of your post, link to the original news story and say something like "read the full article here." If you do this often, people will start to think of you as a resource for the latest updates in the industry, which means they'll check back often to stay in-the-know.

• Put the spotlight on an employee or current customer. This allows others to get to know people who use your product or service as well as your employees. It humanizes the company which makes it easier for people to trust and relate to you.

• Share details about a recent company event. Whether you want to make an announcement about when, where and why the event is happening or share photos and details about how the event went, your business blog is a great platform to do so.

• Post a video. Create an entertaining video that pertains to your company or industry and post it on your blog with a short summary paragraph. If you can, make it funny, people are more likely to share a funny video with friends. Funny and entertaining videos will also help keep your brand in people's minds.

• Write a how-to post. How-to's are one of the most popular blog entries. Did you know that 80% of people who visit a blog are visiting it for the first time? This is because they were searching for information (such as how to do something) that they found on the blog. Once they're reading on your blog, they're more likely to search through your other entries, then hopefully your website.

• Describe little known 3rd party products that work well with your product. This is useful information that your target audience (customers or potential customers) would be interested to know.

• Answer a common customer support question. This will not only help your customers but it also shows them that you genuinely care. Potential customers will see this and instantly gain more trust in your business.

• Highlight a product or service. If there's a particular product or service you are promoting this month, feature it on your blog. Include a photo and let your readers know how this product or service makes their life easier, healthier, happier, more successful, etc.

• Provide tips and tricks of the trade. Share some inside information on your industry with your readers. Giving them information they find interesting or useful but can't get anywhere else is one way to get them to come back and read in the future.

• Ask your customers' opinion. Want to know whether or not people liked your newest product? Post a few poll questions as a blog. Encourage people to leave their opinion in the comments section. It's an excellent way to get feedback about your product or service from the people who matter most, your customers. It also shows customers your company cares about what they think and you're working to ensure they have an excellent experience.

The possibilities are endless when you're coming up with things to write about for your business blog. It's important to always put yourself in your target audience's shoes. Think about what they would be interested in reading about. What kind of information would entice them to read then motivate them to share with their friends? Then start blogging! They'll appreciate your thoughtful and original content and return to read. Readers will hopefully turn into customers who will then eventually turn into advocates for your brand.
