Minding Your Business-Retail Branding

Presented on US Sports Net by Yahoo Small Business!
By: Scott Jeffrey

Retailers and manufacturers are constantly on the lookout for new ideas and strategies to spur growth. And while smart companies are giving digital serious consideration, they’re not doing it at the expense of the store experience. Likewise, in our excitement around mobile shopping, let’s not overlook our physical spaces and the tactile experiences they offer. Yes, stores have been our retail workhorses for centuries, but don’t make the mistake of assuming we’ve wrung every bit of growth to be had from them. What can be done to spur growth from the fleet of branded spaces that currently exist? Plenty.

When I look across most categories, I see great similarities between competing brands. Brands get stagnant and complacent. All it takes is a little courage to get beyond the safety of sameness. I believe innovative thinking can only happen when you take a long hard look at your brand and ask, "What if?" What if we look at things from a different perspective? What if we do things a new way?

Customers get excited by new. We see this time after time when we open a store, especially if the exterior has had a makeover. Inevitably, customers who have forgotten about you will try you again. "New" attracts attention. The good thing about new is that it comes in a variety of degrees, from a complete overhaul to a new coat of paint and some impactful communications. Sometimes new can come in the form of an exciting offer. The worst thing you can do is not try. Don’t fear failure. New ideas can be tested and adjusted, several times and ways, until the register starts ringing.

Recently, a client told us the secret of their instore success. They are always asking themselves, "What if?" And as a result, they continuously give the customer something they haven't seen before. Something new. So there’s always a little excitement, a reason to shop. The opportunity is there, in every square foot. All too often, the problem is with the limits of our thinking not with the limits of the store.

Interbrand Design Forum has nearly 40 offices and a practice that brings together a diverse range of insightful right-and left-brain thinkers, making our business both rigorously analytical and highly creative. Our work creates and manages brand value for clients by making brands central to the business’ strategic goals.

iHealthTube Featuring: How to Start Looking for Alternative Cancer Treatments and Some Foods That Are Anti Inflammatory

Dr. Peter Glidden offers his opinion on how to start searching for alternative cancer treatments if the traditional route of chemo and radiation are not for you. He also offers advice on what to do before starting any of those treatments as well.

Some Foods That Are Anti Inflammatory
By: Josef Bichler

Inflammation is a part of our body's immune response. Without inflammation the body will be unable to heal. When inflammation is out of control, like in rheumatoid arthritis, then it can be damaging to the body. Inflammation plays a major part in diseases such as heart disease, cancer and obesity.

Foods rich in saturated fat and sugars stimulate swelling, redness, heat and pain of the body. They induce over activity of the immune system. There are some foods, which curb inflammation.

Some of the foods that are anti inflammatory include:

- Whole Grains

Whole grains are part of foods that are anti inflammatory. Eating your grains as whole grains as compared to refined cereal, rice, white bread and pasta helps in reducing inflammation. This is because whole grains posses a high fiber content. High fiber content helps lower the amount of C-reactive protein. C-reactive protein is a major cause of blood inflammation.

- Dark Leafy Vegetables

Research shows that vitamin E plays a major role in insulating the body from inflammatory molecules known as cytokines. Dark green vegetables such as kale, collard greens, spinach and broccoli are foods that are anti inflammatory. The dark green vegetables are also rich in vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium and phytochemicals, which help in the fighting of diseases.

- Fatty Fish

Oily fish like mackerel, salmon, sardines and tuna have a high content in omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids help in the reduction of inflammation. You are required to eat the fish several times in a week to get the benefits. The fish should be either boiled or baked as opposed to dried, fried or salted fish. Foods with a much high content of omega 6 fatty acids such as fish-oil supplements and processed vegetable oil can increase inflammation.

- Soy

Soy products are part of foods that are anti inflammatory.

They contain estrogen and isoflavones compounds, which help your body in lowering inflammation levels. You should avoid soy that is heavily processed. This is because heavily processed nutrients in soy pair with preservatives and additives, which reduce the nutrients contained in natural soy. You should instead aspire to eat boiled soybeans and soy milk.

- Peppers

Hot peppers are part of foods that are anti inflammatory and have a high content of capsaicin, used in topical creams to reduce inflammation and pain.

- Nuts

Nuts are a good source of healthy fats. Of particular are almond nuts, which are rich in vitamin E and calcium, and walnuts, which are rich in alpha linolenic acid. All nuts will help your body in fighting and repairing of damaged skin caused by inflammation.

- Beets

Beetroot juice contains vitamin C and plant pigments known as betalains that protect against cancer and reduces inflammation.

- Garlic And Onions

Garlic works similarly to NSAID medications for pain. It shuts of pathways leading to inflammation. Onions have similar chemicals including allicin compound that help in the production of free radical fighting acids.

- Papaya

They contain a protein-digesting enzyme called papain. Together with vitamin E and C, papain improves digestion, healing of burns and reduces inflammation.

There is no better alternative than foods that are anti inflammatory. The foods ensure a healthy disease free life. If you are allergic to the foods mentioned, then it is advisable to avoid them for they may cause increased inflammation.

My name is Josef Bichler. I have a passion for wellness and showing others how to live healthy lives. I have corrected my own health problems with the use of alternatives only and helping others to achieve their health objectives through lifestyle changes, detoxifying their body and through understanding the benefits of eating healthy.

The Best Martial Art - What to Consider When Choosing One
By: Wisey Lim

Now if you are exploring martial arts most probably you will ask yourself this question, "what is the best martial art?" This article will share with you what to consider when choosing one.

The Purpose Of Picking-Up A Combative Art?

You may not agree with me and still harping on the question of "what is the best martial art out there?" So my advice to you is when choosing a combative art for training, you must know the ultimate reason for you to pick-up one. Is it for sport and competition? Is it for self-defense purposes? How about for health and fitness? For leisure? There are hundreds of different forms of martial arts, you must pick the one which is right for you.

Get To Know More About It

When choosing a martial art, it is advisable for you to get to know more about it before you start training. Read more about the history, philosophy and development of the combative art. You should watch some of the free video clips available out there. By doing so you will get to know what to expect during training. After getting to know more about the art, ask yourself this question, "is that the best martial art" that I really want?"

Try Out First

Sit in and observe during some of the classes or trainings. What about the training? Is the training too vigorous for you? Get the permission of the instructor to attend a few classes or trainings before committing yourself. Most of the time, you will get a few sessions of free classes or trainings. This will give you a "feel" of how is the art like.

What Are You Looking For?

If you love combative spot, street fighting, "no-hold barred" then Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) may be what you are looking for. If striking form of combative art is appealing to you, then you may want to explore Taekwondo, Karate or Muay Thai.

There are many combative arts which emphasise on grappling and restraining techniques. If this is what you are looking for then consider Japanese martial art of Jujitsu, Judo, Brazilian Jiujitsu and Sambo.

If you are looking for combative arts with self-defence components then consider Japanese martial art of Ninjutsu, Hapkido, a form of Korean martial art and Krav Maga, which is developed by the Israel special forces.

There are combative arts which allow a weaker fighter to defense against a larger and even stronger opponent. So if you are looking for such a combative art, you may explore, Japanese martial art of Aikido, Wing Chun Kung Fu and Tai Chi from China.

What is the best martial art? There is no answer to this question. Let me be honest with you, there is no such thing as "the best martial art". Each combative art has its own strengths and weaknesses. They are developed with different qualities and suit different people. Consider the above mentioned factors before committing yourself into one. Pick the one which you enjoy the training and would have fun when doing it. Passion is what keep you to continue with your training.
