A TRUE TRANSFORMATION STORY: TOMMY REAMON

Last month we brought you the true story of German Rios, a manager at Zona Fresca who befriended our VP of Sales, Whitney Reid. With a little guidance, a training program and a nutrition plan, German was able to transform his body.
But German isn’t the only person Whitney has helped reach their fitness goals. In 2014, Whitney stumbled across the Instagram account of Tommy Reamon, the assistant football coach at the University of Virginia. It is that time of year and it’s the season for not just for shopping but for thieves.

What you do you do to be careful especially at the malls this time of year?

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw:

A Couple Things are important:
1) When we do a lot of shopping we will have a tendency to take care packages back to the car. We shouldn’t put them in the back seat or the front seat in plain sight so somebody to walk by and see the packages in there and break in. Put them in the trunk or keep those with you.

2) For the women, keep your purse close to you. Don’t put it in the basket and walk off. One can get distracted and very easily do that and somebody could take advantage of this.


These things seem very obvious but it happens all the time and then people forget the lock their cars after they do. Then it's right there where someone could take at any time. We get engaged in the shopping experience and it's very understandable when it happens.


Is the Sheriff's Office beefing up some patrols especially in a nearby some of the malls?


Sheriff Ric Bradshaw:

We are paying real close attention to the parking lots. Our volunteers, our C.O.P.’s will be in the parking lots also. We're making sure that we're going to be seen in the high traffic areas. Especially with the traffic in and out of the malls, we want people to not get in a hurry. Put a smile on, put some patients on and remember there's going to be a lot of people out there.

With all the extra Traffic and the snow birds that are going to be coming down here for the season, what about just being careful on the roads in general?

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw:

Absolutely, traffic is going to be congested so you know patients and courtesy goes a long way here. Also, there are a lot of DUI’s this time of the season. There are people partying and hitting the roads. We're going to have some Saturation Patrols without a doubt, so people need to understand if you're out here drinking and driving we're going to make sure that the roads are safe.

We're also going to do the Tow-to-Go program again. That's where we team up with Brown Distributing and AAA so if somebody has too much to drink they can call 1-800-Tow-To-Go and get a tow truck to take them home. Be Smart, I know you want to drive your car home but listen, don't kill somebody or yourself or get the holidays ruined by going to jail because we’re going to be out there and if you're drinking and driving, it’s not going to go good for you. Call the one eight hundred number and you can get your car the next day. The program is free so there’s no problem.

Are You a Queen or Still a Princess?

As a child, I never had the desire to be a princess or a Queen until recently. I didn’t value the very essence of what a Queen really meant. I was stuck in princess mode until everything changed.
I was battling separating from my husband who I’d known for 18 years, broke, tired, confused, losing my home and no source of income….it was becoming overwhelming and I just wanted a change. I wanted to press the reset button. I had to lose everything to gain everything. Finally, in my princess mentality, I was willing to go through whatever I had to go through to get to my Queen-ish.
Just because you age in years doesn’t mean you mature.
Learning to be the Queen I am today, there was much work to be done. I had to let go of the victim mentality I was carrying for so long. I constantly stayed on alert for when the "princess behaviors" came into play and attempted to hold me back.
Previously, as a princess, I battled with not letting things go, arguing, complaining, whining and caring about what people thought of me. Now, I work daily to staying at the Queenish level and check myself whenever I feel like I am going back to princesshood. If I go back there, I know I will create so much drama and chaos in my life that simply isn’t worth it. I’m not going back.
So, I take off the crown and return to the throne, over and over again.

Princess Mindsets
Rescue me. The damsel in distress wants Prince Charming to come along and sweep her off her feet. She wants to be rescued — from her finances, health, career, the world and from herself when the job should be hers.
Lacks Understanding & Gratitude. Princesses can appear spoiled, because she tends to focus on what she doesn’t have versus all that she’s been given.
Tell me who I am and I’ll believe you. Nothing makes a Princess smile more than others telling her how amazing she is or defining who she is. She needs her partner to tell her that she’s beautiful, her friends to put her on a pedestal and her co-workers to celebrate her every move. She gets giddy from external validation; her world turns dark without it. There’s no thought on her own of who she truly is. She allows others to define that for her.
It’s all about me. She’s not concerned with how others feel. With his princess, the world revolves around her.
Give me permission. The Princess needs permission before she does what she does. And, if she doesn’t get it, she usually just sits around blaming others and feeling ashamed.
There is Never Enough. This Princess lives with a fear of her well running dry. She sees life through competition and comparison. Is she prettier than me? Is she smarter than me? More successful than me? Better than me? This is how she ranks herself among her competitors. We know comparison is the thief of all joy.
I don’t want to look bad. Because the Princess loves to be adored, she will avoid looking bad at all costs. Image is everything. She doesn’t even care if she can’t afford the lifestyle she is portraying. This will hold her back on so many levels. She won’t take risks… too afraid of looking bad. She avoids any situation that could expand her growth.

Queen Mindset
I AM the Creator of my Life/Reality.
A Queens presence proclaims that she is in charge of her life, and that her main role is to master herself and create a kingdom that she loves.
How may I serve you? The Queen understands that a life built on service and offering value is the key to a well-lived life. And, because she doesn’t live in lack, she is filled with abundance. She wants to see everyone thrive and uplevel themselves. She doesn’t mind helping them along the way.
I don’t need your permission. A Queen doesn’t ask others if it’s okay. She doesn’t wait for them to say go. She grants herself the permission to do what she wishes when she wishes to.
I AM who I AM. Unlike the Princess, who’s always looking outside of herself, the Queen looks within and knows who she is and what she values/honors. These are the building blocks to her present and future.
Knows That Time Is Precious. A Queen manages her time wisely. And, while she loves others, she knows she needs her own space and cannot be everything to everyone, every moment. She takes the time to care for herself before she can care for anyone else.
Grace & Elegance. A Queen knows that true grace starts from within herself. Elegance has nothing to do with her wardrobe or looks; it’s about how she feels inside. She shines like the light she is and when others see her, they notice the magnificence within her. It is so rare today and people don’t take it lightly when they notice it. And, that experience radiates as powerful, happy and humble.
I AM blessed and I AM a creator. The Queen adores her life and all that she has, but she also loves creating. She has desires, and she’s not ashamed of them. Her goals are huge and they seem to scare others and that is how she knows she is moving in the right direction. She doesn’t desire more to fill a hole; she desires more because she knows she’s powerful enough to create it.
Failure is part of the process. A Queen knows that creating a fulfilling life requires taking risks and failure. However, because she doesn’t let that fear stop her, she reaps beautiful rewards. Plus, she doesn’t see it as a failure just merely a lesson learned, and a Queen never stops doing. She is fearless.
You don’t have to like me. When you stand for something, not everyone will agree. And, that’s okay if you’re a Queen. She still will move with respect and honor in the kingdom.
Her Cup Runneth Over. A Queen is constantly dropping jewels a.k.a planting seeds wherever she goes. If she sees a need, she fills it. If she sees a problem, she solves it. She doesn’t make excuses and just does what has to be done. In return, she is blessed with more than enough for herself and generations to come.
Which one are you? As I mentioned to you, I was all in the princess mindset but I had to get sick and tired of being sick and tired to stay there. I knew there was more than what I was experiencing.
The question now becomes: which mindset is leading your life?

Give that inner princess a hug, tell her Bye Felicia and let her know that she’s got to go. It’s time to get Queenish.
Remember, a Queen commits to more love and less fear in her life. The results? Life loves her back, abundantly.

Maximizing your Athletic Recovery | CoachTube


Recovery is an undervalued and overlooked means of training and preparation for athletes. Building recovery into any training program is important because it’s the time the body adapts to the stress and stressors of exercise and the real training effect takes place. Recovery also allows the body to replenish energy stores and repair damaged tissues. Spending some additional time focusing on rest and recovery can pay dividends beyond additional training time.
You need enough flexibility to move well (movement prep and efficiency) and remain pain free. Do static stretching post workouts for at least 5 to 10 minutes or more. Attempt to self identify tight areas and work on them daily. The greater the training intensity and load on the body, the greater the need for planned recovery. Without sufficient time to repair and replenish, the body will continue to breakdown from intense training. An athlete's ability to recover from workouts is just as important as the training itself.

Perform the following 3 exercises after practice, at night before bed, after a game or on a lighter recovery day.

1) Sleeping Pigeon

Hips are the cornerstone for athletes and movement within your sport (movement prep and efficiency). Open hips relieve the stress transferred to the knees when the hips are tight. Less knee strain means a greater range of motion while playing your sport and reduced risk to the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament)

2) Hero Pose

By keep the toes as flexible as possible the impact that they face, day in and day out, play after play, is lessened and cases of: planter fasciitis & turf toe are reduced. Great to keep the shins free of strain and the tops of the feet open, again contributing to an increase in speed and movement efficiency.

3) Legs up the Wall

Allowing our legs to find the rest they need is important to building long term strength and muscle adaptation.  Many athletes complain of feeling like their legs are heavy or their lower backs are hurting, and this pose will help alleviate common soreness experienced by the intensity of training.

Dr. O: Right, so there are three types of ketones that are produced in the liver. After your liver glycogen is depleted, in this very, very rapid, overloading far-burning state. These three types are acetone, acetoacetate and beta hydroxybutyrate. That’s it. There are three. US Navy SEAL Fitness Training

It takes a lot to become a Navy SEAL. It involves sheer grit, determination and a Navy SEALs workout session that is called ‘Hell Week’! Any aspiring Navy SEAL needs to go through a thorough physical screening after which a series of rigorous training schedules are conducted.

Physical Screening Test or PST


This is a mandatory requirement for all aspiring Navy SEALs and no one is spared! It is so tough to pass this test that all candidates are almost always out of breath afterwards! Firstly the Navy SEAL will need to swim a length of 500 yards using breast or side stroke within 12.5 minutes. This is followed by a 10 minute rest after which 42 push ups need to be performed in 2 minutes flat! After a brief rest of 2 minutes the Navy SEAL will need to do 50 sit ups within 2 minutes again followed by a 2 minute rest. After this a series of 6 pull-ups need to be done from a dead hang with no time limit to it. This is followed by a 10 minute rest after which 1.5 miles need to be run through within 11.5 minutes. These are the bare minimum tests needed to check a Navy SEALs fitness level.

The training sessions

Once the candidate has passed the PST next comes a rigorous set of training sessions. Navy SEALs workout and training comprises of 3 phases. The first is a 25 week course of basic underwater demolition / SEAL which is also known as BUD/S. This is then followed by a 4 week intensive training on military parachute such as HILO as well as HALO. After this the third phase involves a 19 week session of SEAL qualification training called SQT. As compared to other training courses the Navy SEAL training comprises 11 months and hence is one of the lengthiest in the world! It is also one of the toughest as the Navy SEALs fitness levels are checked and need to be in excellent condition to overcome these physical tests.


BUD/S – 1st phase of training


This first phase of Navy SEALs workout is held at San Diego at the Naval Special Warfare Center. Initially a 5 week INDOC or indoctrination course is started followed by 3 phases of physical conditioning which spans 8 weeks, diving practice which spans 8 weeks and finally land warfare tactics which span 9 weeks.


Military parachute – 2nd phase


This is conducted at the Military Freefall School and during this phase various Navy SEALs workout sessions are conducted. Candidates are trained on military freefalling tactics.


SEAL Qualification Training or SQT – 3rd phase


This phase of a Navy SEALs training involves specialized knowledge acquisition with the help of special equipment and weaponry. It is only after a candidate is able to successfully pass the SQT that he or she officially earns the status of a US Navy SEAL.
