The X-Factor in Fighting Cancer

Cancer is a hopeless, uphill battle if you don't know this:
The X-Factor in
Fighting Cancer
This hidden health problem feeds cancer—
and most doctors don't even know it exists.
Treating cancer successfully – and stopping it from ever returning – comes down to one crucial question:
How can a person cure this disease if they
don’t eliminate THE HIDDEN X-FACTOR
that’s keeping cancer alive and thriving?
That’s right, there’s an insidious cancer-maker –  it lurks silently and stealthily inside the body – and mainstream doctors are completely unaware of it. Because they don’t know anything about it, they’re not doing anything to treat it.
Click here to read the details about this shocking medical blunder.
Believe it or not, even most alternative practitioners don’t recognize the sinister effects of the X-Factor. They can provide a treatment plan that seems great, but it’s probably missing an absolutely essential piece.
So what exactly is the X-Factor?
Find out right now, without paying a thing! Click here to read my  presentation.

Big Train College Round-Up 4/5

Big Train College Round-Up 4/5

Brenden Kalfus (BT '11) had an incredible week of small ball out at St. Mary's (CA). Kalfus, pictured above, was 9 for 14 with a run and four runs batted in this week for the Gaels. He even stole three bases after reaching base in the majority of his plate appearances.

On the east coast, it was a very eventful week for the Big Train players at UNC-Wilmington. Michael Bass (BT '11-'12) extended a few streaks this week (3/10, 2BB, 4R, 2B, SB) but will have to put them on hold. Bass is currently holding a 24-game hit streak and a 30-game on base streak but sustained a minor ankle injury that has caused him to miss the last few games. The Big Train hope that he's back on the field soon. Luckily for the Seahawks, Drew Farber (BT '10-'11) was there to help them along. Farber reached base seven times including a triple, double, walk, and hit by pitch. He also scored four times and batted in two. Ricky Holden (BT '12) also helped the team out from the mound (5IP, 0ER, 3H, BB, 4K).

Other notable pitching performances: Jimmy Reed (BT '10 / Maryland) - 8IP, ER, 5H, BB, 4K... Joe Mantiply (BT '10 / Virginia Tech) - 6.2IP, W, ER, 6H, 3BB, HBP, 7K... Hugh Adams (BT '06-'12 / Florida Atlantic) - 3IP, 3SV, 0ER, H, BB, 2K... Michael Boyle (BT '13 / Radford) - 5IP, W, 2ER, 2H, 3BB, 2HBP, 5K... Ryan Doran (BT '12 / San Diego St.) - 5IP, W, 2ER, 10H, 2BB, 2K... Mike Kent (BT '10-'12 / Clemson) - 5IP, 2ER, 9H, K.

Other notable hitting performances: Adam Barry (BT '11-'12 / High Point) - 7/12, 2R, 3RBI, HR, 2B, SB... Hunter Renfroe (BT '11-'12 / Mississippi St.) - 8/16, 3BB, 3R, 2B... Tyler York (BT '13 / Tallahassee CC) - 4/9, 4BB, 5RBI, SB... Michael Miedzianowski (BT '12-'13 / High Point) - 4/7, 2R, 2RBI, 2 3B... Mitch Morales (BT '12 / Florida Atlantic) - 5/12, BB, 3R, 3RBI, 2B...Brendan Hendriks (BT '12 / San Francisco) - 5/12, HBP, 2R, 2RBI...Tim Quiery (BT '11 / San Jose St.) - 5/11, 2R, RBI... Brennan Middleton (BT '10-'12 / Tulane) - 5/13, HBP, 2R.
Four Big Train Alums on Major League Rosters!
For the first time, the Big Train will be represented by (at least) four MLB players this summer!

1) Brian Dozier (BT '06) is expected to be the starting second baseman for the Minnesota Twins.
2) John Maine (BT '00) is the long reliever in the bullpen for the Miami Marlins.
3) Michael McKenry (BT '04) is the backup catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
4) Cody Allen (BT '08, '10) is in the bullpen for the Cleveland Indians.
Keep a lookout for Mike Costanzo (BT '03 / Washington Nationals) and Carlos Gutierrez (BT '05 / Minnesota Twins) who may be in the MLB soon!

Jeff Ruland Will Not Return as Firebirds Head Men's Basketball Coach

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia announced today that Jeff Ruland will not return as Head Men's Basketball Coach. The University will begin the process  to hire a new coach.
Director of Athletics, Patricia Thomas had this to say, "I am thankful to Jeff Ruland for his four years of service to the University of the District of Columbia and our Athletic Department. The entire Firebird family wishes Coach Ruland well in all his future endeavors."

Ruland coached the Firebirds to a 40-61 record in four seasons at the University of the District of Columbia, including one NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in 2011-12.  The Firebirds joined the East Coast Conference (ECC) in July 2011, and they compiled a conference record of 18-16 over two seasons.
In their inaugural season in the conference in 2011-12, the Firebirds finished with a 22-6 record (13-3 in ECC play) and were ranked as high as 18th in the country in Division II.  The Firebirds were seeded 2nd heading into the East Coast Conference tournament, but they were defeated in the semifinals by 3rd seeded Bridgeport University 65-76. The Firebirds advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 25 years but were defeated in the first round by Stonehill College 65-61.
Ruland's first year at the helm in 2009-10 resulted in a 1-20 record. In 2010-11, their final year with no conference affiliation, the team showed marked improvement posting an 11-15 record.  This year in 2012-13, the Firebirds regressed, struggling through most of the season with a 6-20 record (5-13 in ECC play).

Strength and Power Workouts

The Strength and Power Programs were designed to maximize the body's ability to generate strength. There will also be a certain amount of muscle mass developed through the stimulus of using progressively heavier weights!

Throughout the length of the Strength and Power programs, the manipulation of the sets and repetitions for each exercise will be based on periodization concepts that involve changing the intensity and the volume of the workout.

The Strength and Power EXPRESS Programs are for those people short on time that still want a very effective workout. An EXPRESS Program will give you most of the benefits of the regular programs, but will take less time each day to complete. It will not change the primary emphasis of the program, it simply reduces the number of assistance exercises for the calves, forearms and neck muscle groups.

The Strength and Power ADVANCED Programs will really push you physically. Make sure to pay high attention to recovery processes such as eating quality foods and keeping the body properly hydrated. Sleeping at least 8 hours per night is also key. And, stretching or massage both before and after the workout is also vital. This will help to stimulate passive blood flow to the muscles aiding the removal of metabolic waste products. Crank it up!
